Excellent Mother's Day treat, felt very special.

Really liked this place. Good food, excellent service, and really nice pub inside.

A cozy friendly pub that has delicious dishes at reasonable prices. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and it is a very relaxing environment whether you are there just for a drink or for a meal. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for, and my husband can't stop talking about how amazing and full the chicken, ham and leek pie was. We will definitely return again when in the area.

This was the third time we visited and honestly we will not be returning. They seemed to forget we were there and had to go get a server on a couple of occasions. It is a shame as the previous 2 visits were really good. Some of the dishes we ordered were not the best and it all felt very rushed on the cooking side. I can understand some of the issues as we were a very large party but no excuse for the quality of the food and lack of service.

Visited for lunch after a walk round Fewston reservoir. Plenty of parking. Pub is large and well decorated / furnished. Staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Guinness was good. Stake sandwich was excellent and great value for money. The dog enjoyed drying by the fire. Will definitely pop in again, next time we’re passing.

Been refurbished lovely inside and very accommodating server after we didn't realise one of our guests was coming in a wheelchair after we had be arranged a table up some stairs , so I'm very grateful for server to be able sort a new big table on the flat area at short notice, very generous portions for Sunday lunch and extra gravy was no problem, all very delicious, although I know my mum was disappointed in the very small scoop of ice cream but tasted great

Called in for tea one evening …place was t over busy at first ordered food and drinks no issue… sides were forgotten so we had to ask at the bar for them and then arrived after had finished our mains …no meal check either. Sat for a further 30’mins after we had finished with no offer of deserts or out plates being cleared in the end we had to go to the bar for our bill .. food was average and service was a let down …went elsewhere for desert.

Lovely place to call for Sunday lunch and very popular. Staff were really friendly and helpful, food was delicious and the pub had a comfortable warm feel with great views over open countryside. Children are welcome and staff are very accommodating. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the meals. Definitely worth a visit, booking recommended at busy times.

My Sister in Law managed to book lunch for 10 people for a pre Christmas get together....What a Treat...from being seated until we left...nothing was too much for the staff ...the experience was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the desserts were divine....we were then lucky enough to be escorted to a beautiful private room to finish our festivities and order coffee and then say our goodbyes...I definitely recommend the Nelson Inn...you'll be "Spoilt Rotten"

Excellent food, great service, staff really friendly and attentive. New manager with great idea's. Some places can be cold but this was lovely and warm. Dog friendly in part of the bar 😁😁 Definitely recommended. Good luck for the future A+++

Out of town food orientated pub great views and outside seating in the summer

We thought it was great two years ago (our last visit) but wow this place has upped its game. Everything was first class from the people working there to the fabulous and tasty food in a wonderful atmosphere. Cannot wait to come back here. Came again today (19.12.23) and still very impressed everyone has to try the Christmas Pudding it is absolutely delicious.

What a great place to eat, lovely interior environment, friendly and attentive staff and excellent food - couldn't ask for more. This is becoming our go to restaurant and I've recommended to many friends. Keep doing what you're doing.

Every Brunning & Price pub I have been in is a great place to eat. I hope under the new owners this doesn't change. This one is a bit bigger than others and not as cosy as some, but still well worth a visit for a friendly welcome and great food and drink.

The staff were really friendly, it was really busy, so the service was a little slow. But the food made up for it, I only eat small portions, so I had the venison pudding starter as my main. It was so tasty. But beware of the step up to the ladies' toilet.

THE best pub meal I have ever had! Our first visit, with friends who had been a few times before. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The welcome not so initially, but our waitress was lovely. Friendly and chatty. She chased our drinks order when she noticed it had been a while since she'd taken it. The food came quickly and was absolutely gorgeous. We"ll certainly return.

Having passed this place every day for work, I'd thought we'd give it a whirl....was not disappointed, excellent menu, superb quality and portion size, we had 2 courses each from the new festive menu, I had booked online earlier in the day ...a credit card was needed to hold the table (personally I think all places should do this, having worked in hotels for half my life and getting annoyed at 'no shows'). I would definitely recommend here to anyone, we had a lovely evening, many thanks to all front and back of house staff ❤️

Lovely pub with nice atmosphere

Just very meh. Food took a long time between starters and main and the cod and chips were swimming in a puddle of fat. Not the quality expected for the price.

The two young men who served us were very attentive and always checking everything ok ! Food was excellent would highly recommend ♥️

Lovely surroundings, some of the lights burn your retinas out though. Nice atmosphere, no loud music just a gentle hum of people. Candles on the tables which is a nice touch. Tables well spaced so not on tip of each other. We came for Sunday lunch and the first disappointment was, although the restaurant wasn't busy, we were shown to a table at the very back of the restaurant, up some stairs even though my husband was clearly and quite obviously disabled. Another member of staff sorted a more suitable table for us. The food was the second disappointment. Tiny amount of gravy served with the food, needed to ask for more and for £21 per meal, we would expect a Sunday lunch to come with a Yorkshire pudding, especially as we're in Yorkshire! We mentioned it and we're given some. No option for chicken for children.

Really enjoyable family evening meal. Can't fault food, service or environment (although I did feel that the lady who came to sit 2m behind me could have been prompted to take her video call outside rather than at the table!) Food was very good and would certainly eat here again.

We’ve been past The Nelson Inn loads of times but never visited until today…what a gem we have been missing out on! Came here with parents before a trip to Fountains Abbey. The interior has been tastefully refurbished recently and we were given a very friendly welcome. 1 of us had the burger will pulled beef which was delicious, the other 3 had the cheese and onion pie which came with winter veg and was absolutely delicious! We also had the mini puds with a coffee which were also tasty and great quality. Service was warm and attentive. Great quality, simple food but done really well and reasonable value too. Highly recommend

definitely recommend!! Visited the Nelson last minute with 9 people, the staff where so welcoming and accommodating and we sat in the bar area which had a lovely atmosphere. The pub itself is stunning! The food was perfect, they even had amazing gluten free options (I actually had choice which is rare!) and the staff where attentive but not in your face, the perfect balance! We will definitely be returning to try their roasts on a Sunday!

We usually rave about this inn but, on our last visit, the service was disappointing and slow. I ordered the spatchcock partridge but, for some reason, it was not being served - it hadn`t run out but the waitress was very vague about it. I ordered the trout instead and my husband featherblade of beef - both were delicious. However, we waited a long time to be asked if we wanted a dessert and, in the end, we gave up. This is a good place but attention needs to focus on service.

Great meal for the 6 of us. Luv this place. Clean and fresh. Whoever runs the kitchen really knows their stuff. Serving staff spot on. On a busy Sunday lunch all was spot on. Third visit and will be back soon as we can. Thank you, a joy to visit and in a lovely place.

A late Sunday Lunch in this much improved pub. High quality in every way. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Some lovely touches such as reading glasses for those that forget their own.

Always enjoyed the food, service and ambience - until tonight. Clearly the waiting staff were under pressure, maybe understaffed. The restaurant was busy. We were shown to a table which was not the one we asked for, it was dark and cramped in a corner. We both ordered fish chips and peas. What a disappointment! The batter on my fish was not cooked through, it was sitting on top of undercooked cod. As for the chips they were floury, white and not at all crispy. I pressed them down on my plate with my fork and they looked like mashed potatoes. My husband said the same about his chips, thick white lumps of potato. Such a shame as we usually enjoy beautifully cooked food. Please up your game chef. Busy or not we pay good money for an enjoyable plate of food.

We have had good experiences here in the past, but I was unimpressed with the so called spatchcock partridge I ordered last night, as it was so difficult to dissect and eat. The partridge had not been opened up as I expected. I told the waitress that I was very disappointed and she apologised and said she would relay my comments to the chef. I think a goodwill gesture at the end of our meal might have redeemed the situation, but nothing was offered. I should add that although the staff were all very pleasant the service was extremely slow.

This is the best restaurant we have come across in North Yorkshire. The team that work there are superb. Very professional, down to earth, sincere and kind. We had the fish pie and the flavour was delicious. Bravo to the chef! The atmosphere is welcoming, warm and tastefully decorated. Would highly recommend and all set in the lovely countryside. We will be back for sure. Special thanks to our wait staff Alice and Tom the bartender.

Mains was very poor, over cooked n very chewy... chicken was over cooked and dry. Starters and dessert very good and the service was amazing.. we had a lovely Young German lady serve us... brilliant
