Wasn't happy after checking website for serving times for Sunday Carvery before setting off on the 30min drive to get there arriving 40mins before it finished to find they already closed it early regardless of what they advertise online.....don't do what I did and arrive hungry to be disappointed and driving away still hungry having to find other solutions.

Such a friendly, cosy country pub. The staff are lovely, the starters.... camembert and mussels, were divine. I enjoyed my steak pie, although it was a bit on the salty side and needed more gravy. Other than that it was great and the chips are delicious 😋

Visited this lovely country pub for Sunday lunch after a 5 mile circular walk from its front door. No dogs with us this time so we were seated in the restaurant. The staff are so friendly and we were shown to our table and given little Sunday lunch vouchers which we took with us to redeem at the carvery serving area. A lovely choice of medium rare beef turkey and pork. You can choose which you prefer or you can have a slice of each. There are also sausages and stuffing along with big yummy Yorkshire puddings and a big pot of home made gravy to help yourself too along with a big variety of help yourself vegetables - creamed swede, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, , carrots, yummy cauliflower cheese, ratatouille style vegetable mix. The quality of all the lunch ingredients is superb, and it's so lovely that such things as mash potato and cauliflower cheese are included in the price of £14.95 each is so good and there's a good selection of desserts to choose from, priced at £6.95 each. A little gem of a lovely friendly country pub with delicious food .

Visited Saturday evening for a meal as a family of four plus our dog. Made very welcome and great service from the moment we arrived. Lovely pub with a good atmosphere, plenty choice on the menu. Children had the chicken goujons which were home made. We had the homemade steak and ale pie, which was delicious, served with fresh veg and hand cut chips, all lovely. The cask ale was spot on. Just as another reviewer has mentioned, we too wish our village pub was like this. We will be back to try the Sunday carvery.

After reading good things we decided to call in for the Sunday carvery. We had a friendly welcome and were given the £15 dinner tickets. There are three roasts to choose from, beef, ham and turkey and you can have a mix. The beef was nearly down to the last so unfortunately we got the end fatty bits that were not pleasant but the other choices were nice. They had a good choice of vegetables though the cauli was a bit raw in places ! We would return and hopefully get better beef on our plates.

Stayed nearby for a week and the only regret is we didn’t visit sooner, possibly put off by them not providing a menu online. Needn’t have worried, the choice was plentiful and the food even better. We ate out a lot and this was the best meal of the week - sea bass with bacon mash in a lobster bisque sauce that was superb. There were also burgers, steaks etc on the menu and prices were very good for the quality. The pub itself was lively - seems like a real community treasure. If there was any other regret it’s that I didn’t have room for dessert - that menu looked superb as well

The food is amazing (hats off to the chef) whether it be the normal menu or the Sunday carvery the food is fresh, home cooked and tastes fantastic. The food was absolutely fantastic. There was nothing pretentious about it. It was seriously good, hearty, wholesome, superbly prepared food. It wasn't an overloaded plate. It was of such good quality and so well prepared and cooked that I didn't have room for a dessert. I was so pleased with our meals that we asked to speak to the chef (Dan) personally. He was so modest that he thought I was going to complain. He was really pleased that he had been asked to come out to be congratulated by a customer. I was so impressed with my meal on the Friday that I booked a table for the Saturday. I wasn't disappointed, I had been so impressed on the Friday that I 'paced' myself so that I could have a pudding. Once again, I was delighted with the quality and preparation of the food. The Timothy Taylor beers were also 'on song'. I had had the Blonde on Friday and the 'Landlord' on the Saturday. Both were delicious. The service in the restaurant was good as well. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite both evenings.

This pub was the destination after our Halloween classic car run. We all had the carvery, which was very good indeed. There was Pork, Beef or Turkey on offer, and a good array of vegetables. The roast potatoes in particular were very good. Helpful staff, and good quick service, too. One last thing. It's so often the case that the food at a carvery isn't always hot. It's normally tepid at best, but no worries here. The food and the plates were hot, and all the better for it, too. In conclusion, a really nice pub to visit. Especially after a jaunt around the countryside. Well worth a visit.

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!
