Food was amazing and staff was outstandingly helpful !!

We booked The Bay Horse the night before we stayed as a spontaneous family get away. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely land lady who showed us to our beautiful family room. The room was spacious, modern, clean and fresh! We had a very comfortable nights sleep. The pub meals were home cooked and absolutely delicious. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and too was absolutely delicious. The staff here are very helpful and very friendly! Nothing was too much trouble. They lady serving breakfast on Sunday morning even entertained our 3 year old and let him help hoover round the pub. We were absolutely delighted with our stay and will most definitely stay again. Thank you very much to you all.

My wife and I and small dog needed a place to stay the night near York. We selected the Bay Horse from a small number of places available. The bedroom is functional, good bed, tea/coffee, TV etc. They provided a doggy bed and treats. The bathroom was lovely and big with a decent shower. We ate in the pub in the evening and the food was some of the nicest pub food we have had. We both chose the chilli garlic chicken and thanks to Jon it was wonderful. The breakfast on the Sunday morning was not the biggest but did the job. All of the staff were very hospitable especially Jon & Cheryl(?) and if we are ever in that area again we will certainly look to stay there.

Loved it. Accommodation was small but very clean, warm and well appointed. Pub, food and staff were really good although menu was limited. Not bad value overall.

Called in on the way to York for some food but unfortunately they weren't serving. The place was very busy for a pub that seems pretty out the way. Staff were friendly and the place had a good vibe about it. Would definitely return if the opportunity arose.

Great little place and well worth either visiting or staying. Booked a room for the weekend; staff, service, atmosphere we're excellent and the locals really welcoming. The rooms are really clean and well kept. Look forward to staying again.

Never stayed at an Inn before would definitely recommend. We stayed for one night, 16-17th Oct. The staff are nice and polite. We had a double room that had been refurbished to a very good standard and quality. The bed was clean and very comfortable, the bathroom very clean and well maintained and an information pack in the room about what you can do in Yorkshire. Overall a very nice Inn, good staff, with quality room's, if you choose to stay.

Great food service a bit rushed kept pushing to go to table but before our booked time we did go 5 mins before our time and before all our guests had arrived as they said they were busy but a lot of empty tables around even when we left

Excellent place stay, great staff

An excellent room during our two night stay, breakfast was excellent but the only negative which doesn't reflect on the owners and staff were very noisy guests above us. And on a huge positive for anyone visiting here is Sheila, the most friendly and attentive person you could ever meet.

Wowzer, what a fabulous place to stay. The rooms are beautiful, warm and spotless. The food is to die for, absolutely outstanding. The staff, Jon Tina Sheila Pauline and James all made my sons 21st birthday, perfect in every way. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely return. Excellent meal, my husband had the steak & ale pie & I had the beef lasagne, both were delicious, we managed to share the jam roly poly & custard 😊 but the bonus for us was that it was dog friendly. Will definately make a return visit.

Great Pub, Friendly Staff, Awesome Food Well Worth A Visit

Splendid, dog friendly, village pub. Has large car park. Lovely, sunny, floral beer garden to the rear. Has additional sheltered, outdoor seating in a rear courtyard complete with outdoor TV. Great quirky furniture, cable drum tables, beer barrel seats with hessian sacks and some really innovative and different sprung cycle saddle seats. Great space!! And that's only outside, ha. Lots of little rooms within. Only had one handpulled cask beer on - Ruddles Best Bitter, a very good drop and well looked after. Met and served by the warmest, friendliest barmaid, Katie, who was all smiles and most welcoming. Good attributes and qualities that decent bar staff need, Katie had it in spades, what a great asset to a business with staff like this. Purposefully asked her her name, because I wanted to give her a shout out here. Katie, you were lovely and a very special and kind person. I had clocked up a good few miles as I had been out walking early, so decided to dine here. Great choice on menu: kid's meals, gluten free and vegetarian options. Extensive Indian menu. I had Roasted Pepper and Spinach Lasagne with hand cut chips. My oh my, large portion and absolutely spot on tasty. Really, really good food. A light not heavy lasagne. Perfect! Even had room for a pud, tut tut, quelle pig je suis, heh heh! Chose Pool Bridge Farm Shop Sticky Toffee Pudding with cream. It was totes delicious. One of the best. I shall definitely revisit this pub and wholeheartedly recommend it to you. Food, welcome, staff, everything is great. 10 stars 🌟

What a great little place. Cosy bedrooms with a wonderful cottage feel, great welcoming and friendly staff. Didnt stay the entire night as continued our journey but will definitely book again without hesitation when in the area

I wish I could give a zero. I ordered the beef burger without fries and it arrived in a bowl on a serviette with no dressing whatsoever. When i tried to bite into it I felt something rock hard. I attempted to cut the burger and I could not. Even bashing it with a knife was not successful! The worst excuse for a burger I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. Needless to say it was returned and not paid for.

Stopped off on the way home from camping in the dales for their amazing Wagyu Burger. Great beer and lovely beer garden.

Just left this pub 5 minutes ago, was looking forward to the steak and ale pie that we had read good reviews on. Wish we hadn’t stopped! The pie was some very dried up meat on a tuff pastry base, the peas very dry and tasteless looked like they had been microwaved, chips looked recooked and the gravy was like water! I saw they were advertising for a cook, definitely need one. Extremely overpriced. We did mention to the barmaid it wasn’t the best, who replied with would you like the deserts menu? No thanks In reply to your response, my plate was far from empty! Please check your bins

Friend had a curry (home made and totally delish so I'm told). I had steak and ale pie, again..... Would love to try other things but can't tear myself away from the pie... All with a warm, friendly atmosphere and a toasty open fire. After a long walk. It was hard to leave. Wonderful local pub.

Friendly staff and quality food.

Proper village pub, loved it. Stayed in a cottage round the corner and used this as the local watering hole. Decent selection of beer, had a wide range of food. Was slightly put off at first as its a Greene King branch but this pub kept its local ethic. Quality food made fresh, including a full curry menu! 100% will go back!

We did not stay the night but we were staying local to the pub and it was lush! Drinks are fairly expensive but it’s a cute,warm,welcoming village pub! Star were super friendly and if we ever end up in Green Hammerton we would 100% pop in!

Called in for a quick drink landlord made you most welcome lovely pub and the food coming out of the kitchen looked very nice once again a warm friendly jovial welcome from the landlord sat in the outside area for our lunch the food was very very nice will definitely call again if out that way

Really pleasant stay here. The room was comfortable and clean with a separate bath which was nice. Pub is very welcoming and the staff are fantastic, really friendly and helpful. Food was lovely too and a great breakfast in the morning. I was on my bike and felt it was really secure parked up as it’s off the main road through the village. Really great stay, highly recommended.

Food was great and portion size decent. Only downside was we were there an hour before any food came out - but then it was Sunday lunch.

A great little place for an overnight stay, pet friendly and within a short drive of some lovely places to visit. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough to make your stay a pleasant one.

Just what we where expecting, a nice little country pub away from the hustle and bustle with good food and friendly staff. We like walking so we where happy to walk the 15-20 minutes to Hammerton station and get the train into York

We saw the sign on the road while driving so called in for a meal. It was my partners birthday. He had the steak pie and I had the Chilli. Both meals were amazing. The staff were lovely and really friendly. Would definitely come here again if in the area.

We stopped for one night on a Saturday in one of the dog friendly rooms. All the staff were lovely. The room was very nice and spacious which was fantastic as we have two big dogs ! The bed was so comfy and warm and the best nights sleep I've had in a long time. We had burgers on Saturday night and they were so good, the pudding was really nice too :) In the morning we had a full English which was perfect and even had a sausage for the dogs! Our stay was so lovely, definitely will look to stop again if I'm in the area.

Dog friendly pub, serves great curries and Sunday roasts. Food is a bit overpriced and the rest of the menu is not inspiring. Been going there for years but only when travelling, will still return for the curry.

Fantastic local pub. First time visit on the the night England plays Ukraine. Wonderful staff and food excellent. Recommend the Waygu burger.

Literally saw the sign on the A59 looking for some lunch after leaving York and came across this gem. What a quaint little pub, gorgeous beer garden , friendly staff, and best of all amazing food. I have the Wagu burger and Mrs had the sweet and sour, both cooked to perfection neither of us wanted to leave. Spoke to the owner, who explained he does all the food inside, everything is locally sourced, refreshing to see an owner take time to speak to customers. So now it looks as though we have found our new lunch break when going to York. Thank you and highly recommended.

So glad we stopped here for food and drink. The pub has a great menu of food and drink to choose from, the staff are really friendly, and the beer garden outside is ideal to sit outside for two people or groups of people. I would definitely recommend The Bay Horse Inn 😊

First time here at the weekend whilst visiting family in the village and a great experience, lovely atmosphere with a nicely laid out interior obviously adhering to current regulations so I expect things to change in the future as restrictions change but I can't imagine it would effect the homely and warm atmosphere as this comes from the staff and landlords who are professional and courteous as well as enjoying banter as and when it arises. The food we ordered was very well cooked by the chef with the right sized portions so we didn't have to roll out of the door and minimal leftovers so very satisfied thank you. The drinks on offer are well varied from premium type lagers and cider to cask ales from local breweries and are kept very well providing a smooth, refreshing and very Moorish drink. Can't wait to have a homemade curry next time as I believe the landlord is the magic maker for these so I'm looking forward to the beef madras. WELL DONE and see you soon.

Made a booking over the phone asked if we could have a high chair told yes no problem when we got there told they don’t do high chairs so asked to speak to manager well just told point blank we don’t do high chairs and if you don’t like it tough Considering what has been happening in the world where is there customer service certainly would not return and would not recommend such a shame
