Excellent in every way. Great food , service and ambience. Very relaxed setting but completely professional. Great selection of food and drinks. We will be back without a doubt . We had 5 month old twins with us and absolutely not an issue. It is priced in line with the standard it delivers but you can get a good coffee and a cake for well under a tenner

Having used their outside van during the pandemic we have wondered about visiting this garden centre restaurant. We popped in today after the garden centre and were lucky enough to get a table for lunch. Important to recognise that this is not trying to be just any cafe, but looking, I feel, to emulate the standards of their previous Michelin life, up country. I think they succeed! We had the hare and the chicken. Both delightful with outstanding sauces. Plentiful veg with both. For dessert treacle tart and, mango and vanilla ices with fruit. Again superb presentation and high quality dishes. We both had a glass of wine, which again was of good quality. Service was attentive, not rushed, and all in all good. The room, which could have replicated a barn, was tastefully decorated with trees and plants from the garden centre. This worked well. The price, not cheap, but right for the quality of product. Will book and come again!

I am really surprised there are any bad reviews about this place!! We booked for lunch (very straightforward on their webpage) & arrived slightly early. The table was ready for us, the atmosphere was relaxed & the service was second to none. We were given the menus and our drinks arrived promptly, followed by the most amazing food (husband said the lamb was "one of the nicest things he's ever eaten!). I am vegetarian and there was plenty of choice (not the usual one or two options). We both had 3 courses and enjoyed everything. We will be back and highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of going.

Went for my birthday and felt underwhelmed, especially by the service. My partner uses cash and it was only made clear to us that payment was card only when we got the menu, and saw that it was stated on the bottom. I made the booking by phone and I do think it should have been mentioned then. Partner asked if he could pay as otherwise I was paying for my own birthday lunch. He was cut off mid-sentence by a brusque "We only take card" by the guy who seemed to be front of house. The young staff seemed keen to please but could have done with a bit more training. The older man in charge treated us with disdain from the start. His forte seemed to be mansplaining or possibly deliberately misunderstanding what I was asking. I asked if the scallops were diver-caught (because I've seen the terrible damage done by dredging) and he answered by telling me how they were taken out of their shell, cleaned, cooked, etc. I waited paitently and then said, "Yes, but how are they diver-caught?" To which he replied, "Yes, of course!" in a withering tone. Then I asked if the slow-cooked lamb was shoulder and he said it was (but it turned out to be actually shank taken off the bone - no problem, but why not say so?). My starter was a little cheese tart, crisp and oozing with cheesiness. It produced about three delicious mouthfuls but if there was dressing on the salad, it was almost non-existent. My parter had the mezze - I pinched a taste, but thought it unremarkable. The mains were the highlight of the lunch. My lamb was meltingly tender but my partner's belly pork was the star of the main course, beautifully cooked and with crispy crackling. .. but the beans that came with both dishes (flageolet, I seem to think) were hard and needed much longer cooking. Nevertheless both dishes were good. After this we ordered dessert but asked for a little break beforehand - and we were asked again within a couple of minutes. Ten minutes later, we couldn't attract anyone's attention and had to accost one of the nice young staff. My slice of chocolate raspberry cake was a real disappointment as it was dry and hardly tasted of chocolate. My partner had an ice-cream sundae which I had imagined as a sumptuous confection reminiscient of seaside holidays. But it wasn't, sadly, it was small and just looked like a couple of scoops of ice cream huddling in a small glass as if to comfort each other. We did our best after that to flag down a member of staff to bring the bill but eventually I had to get up and find someone to ask. The bill was reasonable at just under £120, which included a glass of wine and a beer. But I could have cooked it myself at home and made a better job (of the dessert especially). And I wouldn't have had to pay for my own birthday lunch. We didn't leave a tip, though we did wonder if it would have been accepted if we'd offered cash! Next year we will go back to the Star at Harome where I've never had a disappointing experience.

We enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea at Paradise cafe. The restaurant is stylish, the staff extremely helpful and friendly and, most of all the scones were delicious. We also had to cancel a group booking on another occasion at very short notice, and they were very understanding and friendly in their response.

Fantastic meal last evening in this bright spacious but welcoming environment. Staff were very friendly and efficient . The food was beautifully presented with flavoursome ingredients. The venison main course was awesome as was the whole meal from start to finish. The only slight improvement possible would be to dim the overhead lights for dinner service, but one could tolerate that to be able to experience what must be some of the best food available in Yorkshire.

We only called in briefly to check the new cafe out but several things struck us: Calling yourself Paradise is promising a lot - I don’t think they are anywhere near yet Calling it a Cafe when it’s next to a (posh) garden centre is going to confuse people - We’re in Yorkshire, not Mayfair The menu is appealing but requires commitment, you can’t fudge the experience with a ‘light lunch’ or modest bill. The decor is the obvious flaw, is it ‘industrial’ or ‘barn’ with tropical plants? The latter barely takes the edge off the stark interior and the toilets were reminiscent of a council leisure centre. Paradise suggested a rather special interior and we’d hoped for something much more inviting and cosy, given the main garden centre building is attractive and the cafe building has been ‘softened’ externally with timber cladding (which is doomed to stain irregularly in our rainy climate - best add a dark treatment to it now to match the main building), but we felt it was more an urban warehouse space than anything else. I am looking forward to a proper meal there and fingers crossed the decor will be brought up to the apparent level of the food.

We had a truly superb dining experience at this lovely restaurant. The food was beautifully presented and expertly cooked, very flavourful and properly seasoned - just sublime! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very relaxing, with lots of green planting and comfy chairs. The whole experience was faultless and we can’t wait to return.

Everything at Paradise was just superb. We couldn’t have asked for better weather which enabled us to sit on their peaceful terrace overlooking their lagoon. Service was very, very good but their fish cookery is exceptional from the scallops to the glossy yet flaky cod. Sublime. If you’re looking for really good food, a short bus ride out of town in an idyllic location then welcome to Paradise

Prompt professional service with no delays and no upselling- just perfect. Food better than many with a M star with good choice of fish and seafood. Had sardines then plaice then cake, all utterly sublime and beautifully presented. Went at lunchtime as rarely open at night, just occasional Fridays.lovely bright setting amongst plants from garden centre. This was the meal of the year!

A very enjoyable experience had by all. The food was superb it was made using the freshest ingredients and quality products which had the most amazing flavours. One member of the party had the mushroom tortellini which not only tasted divine but was beautifully presented. The other member in the party had mushroom strudel. The wild mushrooms were full of flavour and it was accompanied by an interesting delicious salad. The decor and the interior of the eatery has been beautifully executed with great attention to detail shown. A very nice touch was the high end Robert Welch cutlery and tasteful crockery and comfortable, but stylish chairs. For dessert we had dark chocolate and raspberry cake and coffee and walnut cake. Both were mouth watering delicious and stylishly presented on the plate. This establishment not only delivered on the food, the cleanliness and service were exemplary as well.

We were looking forward to something a bit special for lunch on our visit to Paradise but it wasn't a good start when we were ignored at the entrance for more time than is usual in a restaurant, and were only shown to a table after I'd waved at someone at the kitchen counter. The menu had a couple of lunch dishes on it but we were told that they were only serving coffee and cakes at that time (1.45ish). We ordered coffee and cakes, and laughed out loud when we saw the elaborate but minute cakes. The coffee was also very small, and tepid. Fancy cakes are delicious but not these: they were stale and without much taste. Perhaps they'd been in the temperature controlled display cabinet a little too long. The coffee and cakes were definitely not worth the high price on the bill but we didn't make a fuss as we obviously must have hit a bad day for the staff who, apart from the waitress who brought the order, were a supercilious crew intent on looking busy and finally making us wait without apology while two other tables used the only payment handset. Not a place we'll be revisiting, back to Rudding Park for us.

My wife and I visited Paradise Café for the evening taster menu, yesterday, July 21st, and I would like to say that we were wowed by our dining experience. The variety of tastes and textures was at least equal to anything we’ve tried before, and we’ve been to a few Michelin starred places. Also, the amount on each plate left us, very pleasantly, a little bit stuffed. The building itself is fantastically light and airy and the staff are very professional and attentive. Also, it was fantastic to watch a very talented professional chef at work, in plain view. We liked that there wasn’t a service charge imposed on us and happily left a 10% tip. Highly recommended.

It was my first visit and the place was lovely, clean and well presented, the staff were excellent and attentive, I would have given it 5 out of 5, except for the menu which only offered full expensive meals, they DO NOT do fundamental cafe food, no tea cakes, no bacon sandwich, no simple sandwiches, NO simple basic cafe food, at all! So unless you are rich and want a full blown meal, avoid this place! The place was nearly empty, they are missing out on a massive cafe trade by not having basic cafe food for walkers, cyclists and people that just want simple cafe food at a simple cafe price, their marketing awareness is loosing a major part of what the public want, I’m sure many potential regular customers will never become regulars because of this alone! I would go back if they had a normal cafe menu but as it is I’ll go to Sofie’s or Ripley cafe, where they both offer normal cafe basic food!

We visited for lunch with friends and were very impressed with our meal. The menu is varied but not too big and everything we had was cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and helpful . We chose to sit inside but there is seating outside overlooking a lake. The meal was expensive but was a fair price for the quality provided. We will certainly return. The restaurant has its own large car park.

We have being visiting this cafe for over 15 years and always enjoyed visisting with family. The team in the yellow uniforms were always friendly and the prices VERY resonable. We enjoyed Xmas luches here and have great memories playing crazy / mini golf. Visited today hoping to enyoy cake and a latte, but noticed new owners have taken over. Sadly not a patch on previous set up and sorry to say the wonerful home made baking was replaced with uninspiring offerings. Latte was the worsed i have had in many years, can only be described it as white coffee, the owner was unimpressed and rude with me asking for a replacement. Will not be returning.

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!

I do not usually write reviews but I feel as though I have to after what I witnessed last night 28/11. After waiting 20-25 minutes for my food, I saw the fryer shouting at the gentleman on the Till area. I asked the young man if he was okay and I could tell he was getting upset. The chef was repeatedly shouting at him and telling him to go home and storming off and swearing at him whilst the gentleman did not respond and seemed to get upset. The worst part was that it was quite busy and the man on the till was obviously trying his hardest whilst the other gentleman working was seemingly walking around aimlessly, not helping, and doing nothing. I am disgusted by this, surely in this day and age abuse towards young staff should not be happening? After reading other reviews, I have seen that this is not the first time this has happened with the same Chef. Surely management has picked up on this? I was going to give the chef a piece of my mind but was concerned that it would only result in him shouting at the young gentleman further. I will not be returning when this man is working And I am advising friend and family to do the same.

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

Having visited the Tontine several times in the recent past, we looked forward to a nice Sunday lunch as a family. The visit was marred by underwhelming customer service, requests for water took several attempts before being served, the staff seemed uncommitted to delivering much of a service, and the food , frankly was at best average.I’m afraid that in view of the negative impression we had, it will be some time before we return, there are so many good local places to eat, it really is a disappointment to have to be so negative, must try harder would be my advice.
