Amazing food, Hampshire steak well worth a visit for that alone. Staff were really welcoming, attentive and service was just right.. no delays no rushing. Thoroughly enjoyable all round

Lovely. The three of us went out for Sunday lunch, booked via phone on Friday evening and the managed to squeeze us in on Sunday at 2pm. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar before moving to our table. All three starters were excellent, the mains were superb. Very relaxed but efficient service. Highly recommend. A lovely meal. The Robin Hood is one of my favourite restaurants. Every meal I've had there has been brilliant, and I'd definitely recommend to anyone in or visiting the Southampton area 👍

I had booked a table for lunch at this popular gastropub. Even though it was a midweek day in late January, the large car park was almost full and every table was either occupied or reserved - so glad I booked. Service was both efficient and personable. The purpose of our meal was to take my elderly father out to lunch - he’d last visited the venue at least 30 years ago. We found the meals we ordered to be of a very high quality indeed - artfully presented and cooked perfectly. Even though the restaurant was so busy, the wait time was perfectly acceptable to allow for the kitchen staff to work their magic. The pork belly was moist and tender, the steak prepared just to my father’s choice and the steak and ale pie was also enjoyed by my wife - no mean feat as she’s hard to please! The desserts were imaginative, with a mocha cheesecake and blackberry creme brûlées completing a fine meal. We all enjoyed some banter about the meal with the staff and we were glad that we could enjoy conversation across the table without having to raise our voices - the music and chatter from other tables was at a very comfortable level. A very enjoyable lunch - well priced considering the quality of the meal.

The Robin Hood in Durley is an absolute gem! From the delectable cuisine that tantalizes your taste buds with every bite to the impeccable service that leaves you feeling truly valued, this place is a culinary haven. The ambiance is the cherry on top, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that complements the outstanding food and service perfectly. A definite 5-star experience across the board! Excellent food and service. Polite, attentive staff. A wider range of alcohol free lager would be a suggestion but that would be personal choice. Good choice of alcohol free wine if wanted. Good selection of real ales. Wonderful menu, everything sounded tempting so will definitely visit again. Highly reccomend the breaded brie starter and slow roast belly pork main.Pleasant, enjoyable evening.

Very good experience. Very competent from front of house and the kitchen. Pork belly was a real stand out. But everything served was great. Very nice relaxing atmosphere. With just the mumble of background chatter. No dogs 👍 Perfect pub/restaurant experience.

Well what a delightful evening that was indeed, booked a table to meet with some old work colleagues as we had visited in the summer and wanted to go back for the winter menu. Pub is warm and cosy with very nice Christmas decorations out. Music in the background but not so loud you can’t hear your friends speak. Ordered the ribs (didn’t have starter as I wanted pudding) and they were simply perfect. Meat tender, lots of it too, lovely sauce in a pot to make them even more moist. Large bowl of chips came with them too. Pudding - god tier. Had the chocolate brownie and added salted caramel ice cream. It was simply amazing. Definitely recommend stopping in for some food and drinks, nice little pub and great staff indeed.

Visited in a group of 4 adults with a two year old. We booked for 3.30 pm on a Sunday afternoon and when we arrived it was still busy. Friendly welcome and friendly service the whole time we were there. Lovely selection of food, including roast lunches, which we all had. Food was excellent and we didn't have to wait long at all. Would highly recommend. Plenty of parking.

Went for a lovely meal for friends birthday. Food was outstanding so many lovely choices . Staff really pleasant and attentive . An absolute gem you must visit ! Can’t recommend enough p.s they even served mango chutney with your curry!

Sunday dinner for 10 mix of adults and kids. The food was outstanding. We had pre ordered at the time of booking which was understandable for a larger group. Fair to say it could not have been better. The Spare Ribs are worth a special mention. I Would recommend. The service and attention was outstanding.

Looking at the menu board and comparing it with the one on the website, there is a massive difference in prices Fish and chips on the board £19 +, on the web site £14 The price difference was the same through all items A ping of bitter shandy was the same as a full ping of beer. I feel it was pub meals at restaurant prices I was a bit confused with the bill as it VAT added to the final cost of the meals, is this normal The staff were excellent and the meals were lovely.

Good pub food, but at restaurant prices, it's over priced. Disappointed that the menu has been radically reduced and choice is now limited and with no specials board. Asked the staff (who are great)what's happened and she said new chef and new providers. I hope they update/add to their menu soon.

Delicious Sunday roast, will definitely visit again

We had a nice early evening meal here on Saturday. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive and welcoming. However, we were very disappointed to find, when examining our bill, that the prices quoted on the menu boards were exclusive of VAT. On the plus side there was no separate service charge, but we did leave having felt a little cheated.

Excellent service and food and will certainly come again. Very welcoming, easy parking and prompt service.

Unfortunately I was not impressed with our visit. I choose the salmon. It was a salmon steak with pom potatos and a purée. I ate it slowly because it wasn't a meal really, I've had bigger starter's than the meal. At £22 , I paid for the fussy presentation.

Great food, nice people, and we took the dog

Absolutely fantastic. Staff and food brilliant. Even after the bar was closed we were able to stay in the garden to finish our drinks. Plus made a pot of tea for my mum xx ty x and dog 🐶 friendly x

I have heard a lot of good things about The Robin Hood, and it's fair to say I was not disappointed. The food was very good, and it was definitely worth a visit. The only down side was the pub was busy and it was rather noisy, but overall it was very enjoyable.

Very disappointed. Went as thought it was going to be a lovely Sunday roast. When I booked I was told earliest table was at 3. I agreed to this said we were coming for a roast dinner. When we arrived they only had one roast dinner left. I had to have something else and chose steak and ale pie but was told I could have roast trimmings with it. They couldn’t even do that although the next table who arrived after us was served a roast! My pie was soggy and the filling salty my partner ate most of it as I did not enjoy it! I told the waitress and the owner/manager I didn’t enjoy the pie but was never offered anything else. The least they could have done was offered a drink or a coffee but no they didn’t really care to be honest. The young girl who served us was lovely but she was just a youngster and obviously had no influence in anything. We go out every Sunday but we won’t be back to the Robin Hood!

Best roast dinner in the area!! Came here with my parents on father's day. All 3 of us had a pork roast and wow was amazing. Had the Eton mess for dessert and that was great too!! My only critic is that you are charged an extra £1 for extra gravy and the extra gravy is in such a tiny jug that we had to order a few.

We headed here with our two children for lunch last Sunday and the roast was amazing. We are very fussy about a roast and it was one of the best we have had in a pub. Lovely big garden with freedom for the kids. My only feedback would be that the kids play area looks a bit tired. We will definitely be back!

Very nice country pub and food is very good however, one of our party asked for a little more dressing for her salad, which was given, but was failed to be informed that she would be charged £2.00 for what was perhaps 2 tablespoons worth of dressing. I would be interested to know if you also charge extra for ketchup or mayo as well. It put a dampener on what was otherwise a nice meal out, takes the mick really!!

Excellent food. Had the duck salad. Asked for some extra dressing and was brought 2 mini jugs ( 3 of us had ordered the salad but only 1 asked for extra dressing. Each jug held about 1-2 tablespoons). Was shocked and disappointed to see when we got the bill we had been charged £2 for the extra dressing.

Was recommended to this pub for its food and it didn't disappoint. Will definitely be back 👍 Customer service was good too x

What a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and extremely friendly, helpful, attentive staff. I emailed the pub to check they were doggy friendly and received a message back within 30 minutes so booked via email. When we arrived the pub was fairly busy, a good sign on a dismal Monday night. We were seated immediately and had a drink within minutes. Our food order was taken 5 minutes later and arrived promptly. We are asked if all was ok with the food a few minutes later and then left alone to enjoy our evening. The menu was good, lots to choose from and whilst the higher end of pub pricing, the food certainly delivered. The portions were generous, far more than we could eat, however, we gave it a good go as the Dauphinoise was one of the best I've had. It was lovely to be able to enjoy a lovely meal while being able to take the dog with us, we noted that there was an area for those with dogs and another area for those without. We're lucky enough to be just within walking distance of the pub so I expect it will be a regular, "dog walk", once the nights become a bit lighter and certainly a good alternative to walking into Bishops Waltham. Thanks for a lovely evening! We had a main each and a couple of drinks each and the bill was £60.

Disappointing! My first and only visit as I can’t see us going back. £19 for literally a slice of Belly Pork, a slice of Dauphinois, a spoon of apple sauce, a drizzle of jus and 2 small tasteless black pudding balls, all were lacking in seasoning and not one whisper of a vegetable in sight - so £3 extra for hard green beans, a floret of broccoli and 3 slices of carrot. Unless you’re a local and have familiar faces to chat to, this pub is severely lacking in atmosphere and bonhomie - what a soulless place on Christmas Eve!

We have been before and had a really lovely meal but this time we were very disappointed. The menu is very limited with only one vegetarian option. I chose the steak and ale pie which had a very strange taste- I was told this could be star anise, a flavour I wouldn’t expect to find in a pie. There was no atmosphere and the staff were indifferent. All together an expensive and disappointing evening.

We came tonight for my husbands birthday as a family and it’s the third time we have eaten here. We have always really enjoyed the food and tonight was no different; fried egg with brioche and black pudding for me to start and baked Brie for husband; both delicious flavours and well presented. For main had the slow cooked pork belly and he had the ribs; again absolutely delicious and perfect portion sizes. Son had the children’s menu bolognese with garlic bread which was lovely for him. We sat outside on the decking; staff were very friendly and attentive, Thomas enjoyed played on the playground equipment and running around on the grass. Highly recommend visiting. We will be back again.

The starters of crispy beef and fish cake. Crispy beef very good, fish cake lacking fish. Mains sea bass and steak pie…..good but not exceptional. Waitresses serving were fantastic but Front of House host we found rude. Partner works nights and needed coffee…..reply ‘You can have a lager like everyone else’……..a joke not remotely amusing and the pub was really not busy for a Saturday night. No ambiance or atmosphere. Very disappointing as after several meals here we had come to expect quality. It seems from other reviews others have had the same experience. Won’t be recommending or rushing to return.

Significant jump in quality since I last visited pre covid, really good quality and presentation. Service was slow given it wasn't very busy and food was not hot but tepid. Use warm plates please.

We have been here a number of times in the past with a variety of family and friends. Food good as usual but very slow service which might have earned three stars in the past. However, I put this down to post-COVID cranking up the machine again. We will return later in the year no doubt, by which time I hope the cranking up will have been successful.

(We had not been for three or four years due to poor experience at the time. Being ever the optimist I encouraged my wife to try it again).First impressions were very encouraging - meal choices and appearance was good.My choice - Pork Belly was excellent. My wife's bass started well but the fish was overwhelmed with oil so that she could not finish it. We told the waitress but she wasn't interested. We told a senior staff member, when we paid, about the bass and she challenged my wife by asking her if it could have been lemon juice and not oil. Insulting. The wait for the dessert (Creme Brûlée) was far too long but the waiter said it wasn't that long - not good customer service. We were told that the delays were due to them being so busy - we weren't "drop Ins'- we had booked in advance - if the proper service can't be offered then why take the booking? So as the evening deteriorated I went to pay the bill was astounded at the price - especially two glasses of mediocre wine for £17!. Looks like it will be another few years before we try it again.

Following a recommendation, we stopped off at The Robin Hood at Dudley, for a cheeky vino and sarny. Lovely visit, staff very attentive, courteous and explained the ‘new process’ following reopening perfectly. Definitely come back.

Came here in December, for a Sunday Roast. Pre-booked a table by phoning the pub a few days beforehand.Lovely, cosy little English Pub. Been here quite a few times and once again, the food was fantastic. Reasonably priced, ‘home’ prepared and cooked food. The pork was cooked well and the vegetables were really flavoursome and tasty. A nice big Yorkshire pudding to go with it too. Homemade crumble for dessert was also yummy and overall, another great experience at this independent, well run and friendly pub. One of our favourites!

Popped in for lunch just before 2nd lockdown with our 5 year old after Marwell Zoo. Very welcoming. Good beer, a super lunch fish/prawns. Better than Dover's top fish restaurant earlier that week! Top marks

A surprise visit from my Lancashire sister so we tried this local pub which we had never been to before. What a great choice it turned out to be. A good menu, not totally standard pub fare and a good selection of real ales. Service was very good, friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. We all had two courses and were well satisfied. We will certainly return.

Went for lunch with my parents for their first post lockdown pub trip. The landlord was absolutely lovely and sat us in a quiet area of the pub. Lovely beers (although slightly sad hop house is no longer served) great fish and chips with lovely crisp batter and amazing peas and a lovely panini.My only criticism is that the menu is very meat focused and not much catered to a more veggie preference. We came here with friends and although the restaurant is 'local' to where we live and we've lived here ten years this is the first time we've eaten here. I was pleased with the menu choices available and delighted that the food tasted even better than it looked. Kicked myself that we hadn't eaten here before many times.

Fancied a good Sunday roast and yet again it was delivered. Roast beef and roast pork. Meats delicious. Roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots. Swede mash, Savoy cabbage, lovely Yorkie and plenty of gravy. Puds of crumble and brownie, scrumptious Covid precautions clearly in place, several tables have been removed . Table service only, staff masked and we felt comfortable. Everyone was wearing a mask when not seated and sanitiser stations available.
