We've driven past on many occasions but decided to stop further first time, and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed by friendly staff and served drinks at a good price. We ordered 8oz rib eye and a lasagne, both of which were excellent in terms of quality, portion size, and value for money. The steak was perfectly cooked and the lasagne definitely home made. We're planning to stop more regularly as it was a great experience.

This is ok for a quick pint or a snack lunch by the river. Not my favourite place, but we've tried it now. We were expecting a Sunday roast, as per their website, but they've stopped doing them. I had a mixed grill which was actually quite nice, but not what we were anticipating.

We were hungry, saw the sign on the A16 for The Riverside Inn to learn that it was literally about a one minute drive away. From the outside we expected the usual, average standard of food one finds at so many rural pubs in Lincolnshire with mediocre service. Not so here. We stopped for lunch and my wife had the gammon and I had the spaghetti bol. Both were good as was the friendly and efficient service.

This was the first time we had been through Surfleet and were looking for somewhere to eat. The Riverside was the first place we came to and we were very pleased we stopped here. I had the best lasagne I have had in a pub and my husband said the gammon steak was very good. Mine came with garlic bread, skin-on fries and a very nice salad. Not the cheapest but a very good, tasty meal and very friendly service. Had it not been windy we could have sat outside by the river which I would imagine is very pleasant on a good day. We probably won't go again for quite a while as we live two hours drive away but if we do we will call in.

I love this pub! This was my 2nd visit since moving to the area in December and both times the burgers have been amazing. It's great to sit outside in the sun next to the river, watching people swim and enjoy the weather. I've thoroughly enjoyed both my visits and very much look forward to going back. It has parking, a good atmosphere and is in a lovely location. It is dog friendly too. Highly recommend.

On our arrival we were immediately greeted by the proprietor, who showed us to our room although we were two hours early. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the shower and toilet immaculate. We ordered the Sunday Sirloin Roast for our evening meal and it is no exaggeration to say that both the Dinner and Cheesecake sweet were the best we have eaten in any hotel or restaurant in the country. The staff were friendly and attentive. Well done Riverside

I have marked it as average, simply because that is where it is now, but I want to be very clear, the new management are doing a great job and this is going to be great. My room, although very basic in decoration, was large, clean and the bed extremely comfortable. I had a great night's sleep. The view from the window across the river to the fields beyond, was stunning and the food good and plentiful. The manager took the time to talk to me and ask how things were, I have no doubt that the next time I stay, there will be further improvements.

Just really saying that the pub and hotel side is under new management. They are doing a complete refurb. Have made the bar area a mix of traditional and industrial, completely new bar made of recycled wood, all new flooring and decor. They have a good range of drinks but yet to decide on ales though they are coming. They are awaiting some new kitchen equipment and will be serving traditional pub fare and some Indian dishes as far as I am aware.Definitely a big improvement on the old place and looking good so far.

We have just visited The Riverside as it was conveniently situated half way between ourselves and our relatives. This was our first visit so had no idea what to expect. At first sight, the bar is a little Spartan but having ordered we went to the 'conservatory' overlooking the river which was very pleasant, even in February. The lunch menu was appetising with some standards like fish and chips but plenty of less usual options such as Seabass on a bed of corn beef hash topped with a fried egg and accompanied with a pea puree (which I can recommend). The food took a while to arrive but it was worth the wait. The portions were generous and the quality good. We all had a main, a couple of drinks and a coffee and two of our party had a desert. The bill was £20 per head.

We called into The Riverside on a quiet Thursday lunchtime. It is located right alongside the river, with a seating area outside. We ate in the restaurant area, overlooking the river. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly man (Dave), which is always a good start. We chose to eat from the 'lighter bites' section on the menu - very good ciabatta rolls, with generous fillings (one sausage & onion, one tuna mayonnaise), served with a few home-made chips. We also had a glass of chardonnay and a pint of Bombardier. Coffees were a little difficult as the coffee machine had broken down, but this was all explained to us and we were able to have a black coffee and a latte, which weren't our first choices, but were acceptable. Prices are very reasonable and the friendly welcome and attractive setting made this a very pleasant visit.

Having had family member say they had enjoyed had enjoyed a meal there, we booked a big family get together one Sunday. The carvery was actually very nice in my opinion although a couple did say they had had much better. I did not find the pudding up to much, especially for the price we paid. It was a grey Sunday afternoon and we were in the conservatory which proved to be cold but most probably would have been perfect any other day.We may give it another go another time but we prefer the nearby Ship Inn or The Mill at Boston.

Determined not to suffer national chaines eg. Brewers Fayre, Hungry Horse, Marstons (where 90+ % of food is produced in central kitchens and chilled, frozen, vacumm packed and then microwaved) I called at the Riverside at Surfleet. Not a particularly inspiring exterior but welcomed and invited to take a table in the restaurant. Choose a 'special' - Pork & Beef Meatballs on penne pasta with a rich tomamto sauce and topped with melted mozzerella cheese. Absolutely superb, amazingly tasty and great value at £8.95. I will definitely call again when next in the area. Even had a view over the river and a perfect pint of real ale. Thoroughly recommended.

This was our local pub/B&B until we moved in September this year. Nick, the owner, makes the perfect vodka & diet coke. Just how I like it! The service is good, the staff friendly, you can play darts or watch t.v. in the 'pub' part. The restaurant serves up good food and, in the Summer, you can sit in the conservatory and watch the boats moor up as The Riverside lives up to its name and is ON the river. My husband and I have taken friends and family there and we have never had a bad meal. If you are thinking of visiting Spalding, go that bit further and seek out The Riverside in Surfleet. You won't be disappointed.

first visit ti this pub/ restaurant..arrived just after 12.00 noon, abd the car park was full, always a good sign. My companion and I were immediately spoken to, and when we said we would like to eat, we were shown to a table in the conservatory. A nice touch was, that when we said could we sit at a table for 4, even tho' there were only 2 of us, there was no silly fuss, which sometimes happens, The young man looking after us was charming and friendly, and we felt most welcome. We were hungry, and we both had the Riverside burger, which was huge and clearly home-made, cooked to perfection, and we could not have had a nicer lunch. What a treat. We met a couple who had called in there in the way to Mablethorpe, just by chance, and enjoyed it so much, that they had called again, the day we were there, on their way to Leicester. That speaks for itself. The food was great, the prices most reasonable, and we will definitely go back soon. The only thing that was a little odd, was the weight of the chairs in the conservatory, very well made, and robust, and even stylish, clearly expensive, but so heavy we both had trouble actually moving them. That did not spoil the experience though. Thanks for a lovely meal
