Caters for regulars/locals only if your not you will get ignored by bar staff who are sat in the corner laughing with the regular punters who in turn openly laugh, point and ridicule none regular to make them feel not welcome. When you eventually do get served it's not with a smile and god help you if you dare ask a question about the drinks they offer. Very unwelcoming. It's a shame has it didn't used to be like that and the pub itself is OK. Not local not welcome

What an amazing experience in the rising sun. 5 star service. 5 star beer. 5 star company. I once went to the rose and crown in cleckheaton and one must say it’s no where near the quality and sophistication of the rising sun. Highly Recommend. ALAW.

Unbelievable food and attention to detail……was treated to the best food followed by one of the best pints I’ve ever had! Company and bar staff were second to none

The Rising Sun Pub is a cozy little pub located in the heart of Norristhorpe. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a fireplace in the winter and a beer garden in the summer. The pub serves a wide variety of beers, wines, and spirits, as well as a menu of pub food. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. Overall, the Rising Sun Pub is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink with friends.

The 1st time I called in here with my mate, it was like sitting in a waiting room at the undertakers, I was persuaded to visit again a few months later when I was in the area, a bit busier this time, gave it a bit more atmosphere, but on my latest visit, a Friday night, we struggled to find a place to sit, most of the seating had 'Reserved' signage on them, because there was to be a live turn on later, it was the busiest I've seen so far, had a good atmosphere and no trouble getting served with drinks at the bar, although, I did notice that it wasn't cheap there, and we didn't order anything extravagant. There's a chance that the prices might have been hiked to cover the cost of the turn, but not sure, so go prepared. We did get seats eventually, and enjoyed the atmosphere. The turn was okay, but I think reserving seats was a little OTT.

A great pub, just ruined by the bar staff, very rude and lazy. Service with a smile? Forget it. I feel like I’m asking for a kidney when I ask for a pint.

Really nice pub. I like it here. Only been a couple of times. This last time though I asked about food and was told they don’t do it. Looking at all the reviews they clearly do. Very strange! Not bad for a drink though.

A wonderful refurbishment has brought this pub back to life. Really well done and feels comfortable and welcoming. Love that it's dog friendly too. However if you're not in the local clique, expect to be ignored by the bar staff who can be quite rude. It's happened a few times to us where we've been at the bar for ten minutes plus and locals walk straight in and get served before us. Great choice of wine and good atmosphere. Its got that old fashioned country pub feel.

Stone floors , log fires, always busy with local people, one of the better pubs in this area. Lovely rear beer garden with views and sufficient parking. No music but lots of noise with banter.

Called in today for lunch with my wife at 1.10 pm. The pub was about half full so I went to the bar and asked for a menu. The barmaid said that there were no menus available at the moment but she would bring us one. So I ordered a pint and a coke with lemon slice, she did not have any lemon and said that it was being prepared in the kitchen (a big warning sign of things to come ) but it did not arrive. No menu arrived either so I went and asked again, she again said that she would bring one. She did not but when she did return she announced that the kitchen had sold out of food. I protested that we would not have ordered drinks if we had been given this information in the first place. She apologised but in an extremely surly manner saying that it was not her fault as they had had 20 more people in than they expected. This place advertises that food is served between 12 noon and 3 pm and yet they had run out at 1.10pm. What a complete and utter shambles -AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

Just called in as my mother needed to use the toilet and decided to have a drink. I don't think I have ever seen such a clean pub! Lovely environment. Lovely girl behind the bar with a warm smile. I will be back to sample the food of an evening. Very impressed! 👍

I have been in here several times and it has always been good food and a lovely environment. I went for lunch this afternoon and as usual, the food was lovely, however, it took almost half an hour to come, when I politely asked how long the food was going to be,i was told it takes 10 minutes per sandwich and there were two people who ordered before me. Although I can't say the lady behind the bar was rude, she was certainly direct and unapologetic, even suggesting that I had come 10minutes later than I arrived to imply it was a reasonable wait, which I found annoying. To be fair, a different lady then presented me with the sandwich and after I expressed my concerns she was lovely and even offered a refund which I declined. The food was nice but I had to rush in order to get back to work. I WOULD recommend eating here, however, it could be a long wait if you're in a rush. I personally think a 25 minute wait for a cold sandwich is too long and after my experience today, I won't be returning. All the other experinces I have had here previously have been very good so try it and hopefully you will recieve better customer service than I did today.

This is a prime example of excellent design and colour schemes in a modern pub. It's just a superb space. Perfect. A friendly reception and great selection of real ales too. You can get a limited range of cold foods at lunchtime - sandwiches and meat/cheese boards, and although delicious, it's a shame they don't offer meals too, especially in the evenings. If that ever happens this place will become the go-to venue for the whole of our region. Still gave it five stars though!

The pub recently started serving excellent good value doorstep sandwiches and also mezze plates which are again very good value. These are served Monday to Friday 12 to 3 . The real ales are excellently kept and the pub has an excellent reputation. The pub is very smartly decorated and has a stylish feel.

The Rising sun in Norristhorpe has fairly recently been renovated, It is the first time I have been after a recommendation from a friend. It is welcoming and warm and with a good selection of real ales. We had lunch there and I have to say it was the nicest sandwich I have had in a long time. We will be visiting again very soon.

We arrived without a booking and after a couple of minutes we were shown to our table and handed menus. Unfortunately after that, we were left around 15-20 minutes and nobody came to take our order. Eventually we got drinks thank goodness but then the food must have been another half an hour before it arrived. My husband and I ordered turkish eggs and it was nice but all 4 eggs (my husband's and mind) were all over cooked. I wouldnt go if you are in a rush to be honest, it took almost an hour and a half from start to finish.

Thought we would try this place out not impressed with the overall experience of food the Sunday dinners beef not great nor the service waiter/staff took telling over 3 times for desserts had to wait over 30 mins for just brownies in the end just had to say cancel it too much time for something that take a couple of minutes to do the next day most of the family had upset stomachs wouldn’t recommend this place unless the service of communication to the cook and food standard is more on point than mediocre presentation we were compensated some money off the desserts but even the brownies are nothing different that shop bought similarities and tight portions to say the least the differences between kids to adults sizes not by much. To say the least and the only major positive was the decor of the overall place well set out looks inviting at least.

Visited today. All the sandwiches on display had cheese in them. Asked for a plain ham and they readily agreed. The ham was tasty and baguette was really fresh.
