This is 1 of the worst places I have ever been in my life and I’m not even picky I went there for some tea and they couldn’t even serve me some tea without a problem the waitress John was so rude for me while I was trying to be nice she also gave me dirty looks and said some mean things that I won’t go into detail over and also why did I see a dead bug on the ground like clean ur place this was actually so bad I’m never and neverrr coming back here again if I ever do and if I see that waitress John again I will actually leave she made the whole experience much worse and I saw some dust on the tea chair to like please next time clean ur place properly and why did it take so long to make some tea I did not even ask for anything else I only came to drink some tea this place is horrible I’m giving it 1 star I won’t go back in there again and I hope this waitress John gets fired.

A warm welcome at this country pub. We went to try the recommended Friday ‘Fish & Chips’ special. The haddock was very fresh and the whole meal, which included chips and peas, was served piping hot. Great value at £10. Excellent service from friendly staff.

We visited this pub/restaurant for lunch. On arrival, it took a little time to attract the attention of a staff member. Once achieved, we were shown to a table and provided with menus for lunch, which provided a good choice, and it was confirmed that dietary requirements could be catered for. However, we were not advised that we could also order from the main menu, which we found on the back of the lunch menu, after ordering. When served, the food represented good quality and value, although the handmade chips could have been crisper. Overall service appeared a little "off hand".

We came for Sunday lunch yesterday. It’s the second time that my husband and I have been but this time we brought a friend. 2 out of 3 drinks were fine. The bitter shandy smelt of vinegar and tasted off. This was replaced with a lemonade at no extra cost 👍🏻 The Sunday roasts were really nice! We pretty much inhaled them. Our only criticism was that the sides of cauliflower cheese were watery.

As we were staying in this area we decided to call in for lunch . The pub looked inviting from outside , on entering it was very quiet and the bar person looked a little fed up . Not very welcoming at all. Food was average, my hubby ordered scampi and chips, it was very greasy indeed, the fat was dripping from the scampi . I had a steak baguette which was ok . Would not return or recommend

On arrival the pub was cosy and clean, you could tell this was the local for local residents. Once seated at our table we got gave the menus and we all chose our meals. A few of the people on our party preferred turkey, they was no turkey left. Once our meals came we was disappointed as we had higher expect ions due to reviews red online. My partner ordered a medium rare 8oz sirloin steak, it came it wasn’t medium rare and it was not steak, it looked like a pork steak, the meat was white and very fatty, also wasn’t tasty at all. My mother in law also ordered meat to which she also had 70% fat and 30% meat. My brother in law and father in law ordered the fish to which their plate was full of grease. Even down to the side of onion rings. I paid for cabbage, a Yorkshire pudding, 3 carrots and mash which was gooey. The prices charged did not match the food in quality. I would not visit again.

Lovely place very nice inside , very helpful nice staff , one you man didn't stop to breath, all staff constantly cleaning tables never an empty glass they didn't walk past with out picking up a item, very impressive. So the food ,,,, don't have a starter as they are not shy on the size of the meal the steak pie was massive and the Sunday roast looked amazing, be prepared to wait because its real food cooked not pinged. And you can tell the difference. Amazing puddings had to fit one in . 5 stars 🌟 🤩 ✨️ very recommend 👌 oh and we turned up early nice lady owner /manager I'm guessing more than happy to let us sit early . Can't fault it .

Reviewed here yesterday and really enjoyed it. It's located just outside Sandtoft and is in a fairly rural area. It's a traditional pub/restaurant with a log fire and the bar area has Sports TV. The dining area is really nice and set out well. Good wheelchair access throughout. Wi-Fi is free and good. It's spotlessly clean throughout the pub and all the staff were great. Our waitress (Young girl) was very chatty and helpful, and even modified one meal just to suit us. Drinks are reasonably priced, as were the meals. We had 2 rounds of drinks and 2 courses each and it was only £30 apiece. Meals are excellent and presented well. The steak Pie was amazing! Sweets were home made and delicious. Overall an excellent afternoon. Held a surprise birthday party here in their function room. I cannot thank the staff enough during the months of planning and booking on top of the staff on the day/evening! Such wonderfully friendly, helpful people who made the whole party an absolute success! The venue itself is so beautifully decorated (especially the function room with its’ own bar and lots of fairy lights) and the food is delicious. I am so glad we chose this as our venue (the extra luxury of hotel rooms on-site is a big bonus too!) and I would 100% recommend to anyone for a meal out or an event. Thank you to them all!

Sub standard at best. It looked good when put in front of us, but…. Went for Sunday dinner, we are not ones to complain really but this was not good. The only good bit about it was the meat. The roasties were not crispy, plates were not warm so food was cold and the veg was nowhere near cooked (I am well aware of Al-dente cooked but this was almost raw). Yorkshire puddings were very cold so I suspect made made and then kept. We had puddings because to be honest, even though we ate our dinner (we were hungry) I finished my dinner still hungry! While we were there we saw 3 other people send their meals back, one of which did not want any replacement - she was clear of that. I was very disappointed as we have had a previous good experience a while ago. Won’t be making that expensive mistake again.

Was recommended by a family member to try the Friday night fish and chips ...I have to say we were not disappointed...the food was excellent .the only thing that was a let down was the fact that a couple in a group of 6 brought their dog and was allowed into the restaurant... I'm a dog lover and look after my furry grandsons over 7 days a week .. and if we take them with us we expect to either be seated in the bar or designated doggy area ... I was not happy to see a rather large ..long haired dog being wedged under the table ... and the smell it gave off was totally unacceptable ... like I said .. I love our dogs ... but when I'm dog free I want to able to sit in an area that's also dog free .... sadly we won't be visiting again as the staff have informed me it is the pubs policy ....

Went for Curry Night and was looking forward to it. Got there to find Chinese food advertised on the 'Curry Night' blackboard. On querying this we were told 'its a sort of Curry' It wasn't a sort of curry, it was Chinese. We were told by a waitress, the chefs do what they want. And another said, we never know what's going to happen until we get here. That was very apparent. This is one of several disappointments had here recently. Bad beer. Wrongly advertised pricing on website. And now not as advertised food. We're done with the reindeer until there is a change of ownership/management.

Very disappointed. I had the Sunday roast. The yorkshire pudding was almost black and the roast potatoes tasted burned. I think I got the last of the roast pork. The two slices were cut so thick I was unable to chew them. The vegetables were sparse, a tablespoon of red cabbage which was tasty, a sprig of broccoli and half a carrot, both so hard my knife would not go through them. My husband had the steak pie which tasted freezer burnt and the same sparse vegetables. Our friend also had the roast. However his beef was sliced thinly and was tasty. We have eaten here on several occasions and it has always been good. Maybe the chef has changed. Noticably, no one came to ask if everything was ok. The quality did not justify the price.

Went for my grandson’s birthday and the experience was a nightmare. I asked for salmon with new potatoes and seasonal veg. I was served salmon with mashed potato, roast potato, Yorkshire pudding, half a carrot and half a broccoli spear. Firstly, it’s beyond me how a chef could let a salmon meal go out as a Sunday dinner. It’s a joke It was literally a Sunday dinner with salmon plonked on top. I mentioned to the waitress that it should have come with new potatoes and expressed I wasn’t happy. The manager came and explained they had run out of new potatoes and had assumed it would be ok to serve salmon as a Sunday roast and that I would accept it. I was offered more veg or meat Sunday lunch, or pie. I don’t eat meat. When leaving we were not prepared to pay for the meal I’d ordered and didn’t get. Her attitude was appalling. She refused and insisted I pay for the salmon I had eaten which wasn’t great anyway with no offer of apology until we were walking out of the door. I said I would leave a bad review and she said as long as you give positives but honestly there were none. I shall definitely not be returning. We thought we would give it a go having received bad comments but wish we hadn’t.

Had an evening meal here, pe-ordered the Christmas Fayre. Service was excellent and dining room was quiet so little atmosphere. My wife and I enjoyed our starters but main course, both salmon, were poor. Salmon dry, vegetables were frozen and parsnips were over cooked , dry and shrivelled up. My dessert was Christmas pudding which was a microwaved individual item but over cooked so hard on the bottom. My wife's was Black Forest cake but she said it wasn't like any she' d previously had and not very nice. Disappointed no coffee included which seemed a bit mean. I have visited The Reindeer on many occasions, in the past have given a good review too! However today we decided to bring friends to show them how good the food and service where and what a shock we had! There where plenty of staff around, so we thought service would be swift. It was not! It took an age for my husbands beer to arrive at least ten minutes after three of us received our drinks. We ordered our food and waited…….. and waited, it eventually arrived and it was only just warm, quite disappointing when we had been talking to our friends about how good the food and service was! I felt embarrassed. We moved on and ordered two deserts, which arrived twenty minutes after ordering, I think the waitress had forgotten to pick them up as when they arrived my friend sent his back due to it being very cold, Rhubarb crumble and custard, he asked for it not to be brought back. It seems the only thing that arrived on time today was the bill. I really have had better meals here in the past, but there also seemed to be a lot of new staff “training” and shadowing other waiters, so maybe this could have had the impact that made our visit so poor. If we return in the future I may actually say something to the landlady if the service and food are as poor again.

Tonight, my husband and I visited for the very first time. It certainly won’t be our last visit. It was wonderful. The building Mg itself is very well maintained, decorated nicely and is very clean, including the toilets. The staff were polite, friendly and efficient. They were ALL wearing face coverings at all times too. We were seated straight away and only had a short wait between ordering drinks/food and receiving it. There was plenty of choice on the menu, being vegetarian myself-I’m not used to having so much choice, so it was a really nice surprise. My husband favours meaty dishes, and he was also spoilt for choice. When we received our food, it was piping hot and delicious. The cutlery was spotless too. Out only ‘complaint’ is that the food was so lovely, and the portions so generous, that we physically couldn’t fit in the dessert that we were looking forward to! (The cheesecake caught our eye the moment we saw the menu). To summarise Fantastic food, generous portions and great value for money. We look forward to returning. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Waited 30 minutes for drinks order to arrive, 40 minutes for food to arrive. When the food came it was lukewarm to say the least. The vegetables was so hard they could have bounced off the wall. One of our party ordered the veggie tart to be to.d about 15 minutes later they had sold out but they could do a veggie dinner, which was basically roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and a Yorkshire puddings! When we asked for another bowl of vegetables as there wasn’t enough to go around we were to.Ld we would have to pay extra. But the piece de resistance was the large hair in the middle of my roast! Then the bill was wrong! Tables not cleared, no offer of a dessert. Young staff trying to do their best but their excuse was they were understaffed and a large party had just turned up. We arrived at 6.30 0n a Sunday. The restaurant was packed. We were anticipating a long wait but were seated after 20 mins. Our table was at the bottom of the restaurant, next to a very noisy large family party with badly behaved children. Luckily, they left quite soon after we were seated. Orders for drinks were taken and delivered promptly. We ordered our food which was served in about 10 minutes and was piping hot. Husband has steak and ale pie which was packed with meat, a good size and very tasty. I ordered beef Sunday lunch which was enormous. The beef was served with Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, 4 vegetables and tasty gravy. A small word of warning though. If you don't like your veg al dente you will struggle. As it happens, I do.The young staff were friendly and efficient and very obliging. Its worth mentioning that my husband had eaten there earlier in the week with a group of friends. He had ordered butterfly chicken but, although delicious, was a very small portion for the cost. He was hungry afterwards. so maybe one to avoid for the bigger appetite. Even when 19 degrees outside. I appreciate the windows and doors need to be open for ventilation but seriously - put the heating on. We had goosebumps.Whilst waiting for our food I overhead at least two separate phone calls where the bookers were confirming that they did not want to sit in the bar area but in the restaurant area because of the cold. They have drastically cut the menu and not for the better. Their prices have risen sharply too. The dish they are best known for is their lasagne and it has gone. In fact probably well over 50% of the menu if not more, has gone. We waited over 40 minutes for 4 plates of food and even that took several trips back to the kitchen to get over a period of time. There were 4 other diners in very close proximity although the restaurant was empty apart from us and the other 4. Menu was very limited. None of the 5 starters appealed at all. Opted for haddock as my main which was just about ok. Plates were as cold as the restaurant and also had to send the cold peas back to be reheated. Dessert menu consisted of 6 choices 2 of which we were informed were not available. Declined desserts, paid the bill and left to go home to warm up.Overall was a really miserable experience. However, when our mains arrived they either arrived wrong or overcooked (wouldn't feed them to my dog). Sent the mains back and we decided due to the lack of service and awful looking food we would go else where. Spoke to a member of staff we had no idea what was happening, the manager came to speak to us, she came across very rude and told us it was her night off, being an assistant manager of a hospitality business myself i know what standards to expect. Visited the Reindeer last night to celebrate my sister’s recent engagement. This morning I am at home nursing two poorly children complaining of tummy ache and diarrhoea. They had the kids menu and started to feel unwell after they had been served their main course.Prior to our visit we contacted the restaurant to ask whether they catered for vegans. They said they did. When we arrived they only had vegetarian options on the menu. We asked for their vegan options and got a very flustered response from the staff, who eventually gave us a hand written list of the vegan food they could provide, including a goats cheese option. This didn’t fill me with confidence so I just ordered bread and olives for safety. Unfortunately there must have been animal products in some of the bread as I had issues myself after digesting my meal, my stomach was very upset. As well as issues with the food the waiting staff were just really bad. Really slow and clueless, we had to ask multiple times for things they had forgotten to bring, and my meal arrived about 20 mins after everyone else had been served. But it was only bread and hummus and olives...I’m assuming I was forgotten by the chefs?Overpriced food. Poor service. Bad bellies. Won’t be going back.

Won't be staying - We booked rooms some 9 months in advance, only to be now told they don't have our rooms for us. Clearly they're incompetent or decided to scrub us in favour of others. Either way, a shoddy going on.

Sunday lunch is always delightful here. It's no more expensive the local chain carveries, plus it's not a carvery. All the food is served at your table so you don't have to go and stand in a queue, then serve yourself with veg etc. Being served is a must when you have a wheelchair user with you. We had our 50th wedding anniversary lunch here in August with our family and the staff could not have been more helpful. We will be back again for lunch with friends this week.

The Carvery offered nothing worth remembering and was no different from those at well known chain restaurants . The latter does not charge as much either. So wont be going to The Reindeer again.

We had 2 tables at the Reindeer on New Years Eve and can we just say it was amazing. The room looked great, the food was outstanding, even though they must have served well over 100 people everything was delicious, hot and very well presented. The entertainment was great with Lady Monsoon. We have enjoyed New Years Eve in the Reindeer for a few years now but this year was fantastic. We can highly recommend The Reindeer for special Occasions or just lunch or dinner. Well done Mel and Team.

We was travelling through Sandtoft on the way to Hatfield when we stopped at The Reindeer for something to eat. The food was excellent from the chefs and the service was quick and friendly. From a busy Christmas and new year the staff and owners must be exhausted but there level of professionalism in the service and quality of the food remained high. I would really recommend this restaurant to anyone driving near Sandtoft.

Ushered into the function room, poor table layout too noisy with unruly children all over. Dangerous wires still around the stage area. Slow service and extremely moderate meals, just warm, poor quality no one to see to have this put right. Desserts x 2 removed off the bill which is totally unacceptable. Head of house not bothered unacceptable excuses, for the amount of people dining they should look at the quantity of serving staff against the dining numbers instead of thinking about their profits.

I sadly had to knock one star off this review for something out of The Reindeers Hands. We had a party of 4 booked for last nights New Years Eve Party Night. Positives first. A lovely, lovely venue, a superb range of drinks, excellent service with plenty to help and serve behind the bar, the 5 course meal was lovely, all food came out together and was hot, bacon baps just after midnight. Brilliant. The band Lady Monsoon filled the dance floor with some great songs and banter. Always a superb band. Now sadly the negative of the night, the so called "DJ" his sound system sounded terrible, muffled and distorted, sound going up and down, unable to hear what he was saying, did not read the crowd and play to them, resorted to mastermix megamixes, and the most shambolic thing was not going to do a countdown into the new year until our friend went up, later in the night resorted to some crude comments which didn`t go down well with the other people (not from our party) on the table. All in all a good night and would go back, hopefully a better DJ next time. The Reindeer was fantastic sadly let down by the DJ.

Absolutely terrible service, complaints about the food were not handled with sympathy the chicken was old and stringy and cheap Aldi barbecue sauce thrown on top. The female manager presented herself with scraggy hair and no makeup leaving us concerned about hygiene. She blamed the customer for ordering wrongfully and made to pay for the uneaten crap. Bev was most arrogant with a disturbing weather beaten smile

The food in general was good. A family of 20 people meeting up for the 1st time for a while. The meal was pre-booked a few weeks earlier. From the moment we arrived we were rushed to our table and it was made clear we had to order straight away. No time to make sure everyone had arrived. Order taken but then another waitress returned to retake our order again because it hadn't been done properly. Meal was good but food was slow to come out of the kitchen and even slower to be cleared when when we were finished. A few people had puddings but were not allowed to finish before we were told that they needed the table for another group. By far the worst was the attitude of who we can only assume was a manager who decided that it wasnt appropriate to inform us before hand they had another booking after us but instead decided arguing and insulting our party was a better course of action. Its a shame we usually like to eat here but will certainly not be returning. Less than 2 hours for a 3 course meal for 20 people is unrealistic by anyones standards!!

We eat here at least three times per week. The drinks and food are always spot on. This evening, I had fillet steak with a peppercorn sauce (divine). Hubby had the liver, also a favourite. The staff: Kerry, Mel, Paul and the young staff are wonderful: they cannot do enough to ensure you enjoy your visit - for drinks or a meal. We have brought relatives and friends to eat here and always have great feedback. Sunday lunch is a great and served all day. Great food, reasonable prices and good atmosphere.

Arrived for a prebooked meal to an empty restaurant but was asked if we could sit at a table in the bar area as they hadn’t got the tables set in the restaurant. From what we could see they only needed cutlery on them, we said we would prefer to sit in the restaurant as it would be quieter. The bar area was quite noisy as they had football on the TV. The girl went to enquire for us and came back with a different woman who was not very friendly and said if we insisted on sitting in the restaurant we would have to wait but couldn’t give us waiting time. Her attitude was not ‘customer friendly’. We decided to go elsewhere where we were treated much better, given a choice of table with a much friendlier attitude and enjoyed a very nice meal. The Reindeer has now lost 3 customers who will not be back.

Just been to a birthday bash at the Reindeer inn’s very own unique gin shed and I was very impressed. The food was amazing. I’m normally rather fussy when it comes to food, but I couldn’t fault it and it has made me want to come back to eat at their main restaurant. There was plenty of staff available and they are all extremely friendly and welcoming so I would defiantly recommend this little gem to anyone.

Apparently the Reindeer is now part of 'The Isle Pub Group' which maybe accounts for the fact that both the food and service have gone downhill. Dishes we have both had from the menu before were disappointing, my chicken with barbecue sauce had obviously been left under a heat lamp because the sauce was welded to the dish and my Partner's burger had undercooked chips and limp salad. The young staff are inexperienced and there doesn't seem to be anyone in overall charge. This last visit will be our final one I'm afraid.

after studying the menu we both chose the fish pie the ingredients sounded great but what a disappointment it was actually boiling when served and more like a stew than a pie , the potato crust?? was liquid ! we persevered and ate some of it Then had upset stomachs over night and the next day . Not a good experience . Will give it another try in the future to see if this was just a one off..

Booked a table for a 60th wedding anniversary. Visited this place a handful of times and never had any complaints but I feel like now they can’t cope with the popularity. We arrived 5 minutes before our booked time, employees were walking around so we got one of their attentions and mentioned we had a table booked. They said we would have to talk to the lady behind the bar. It was a Saturday night so the bar was understandably full so it was difficult to get the ladies attention. A short time later after failing to get the lady behind the bars attention, we grabbed a different waitress to see if they could seat us...nope. We have to talk to the lady behind the bar. My Mum finally got the ladies attention behind the bar and she quite rudely said that she’s busy serving at the minute and we’ll have to wait. What kind of procedure is that? Only 1 member of staff in the whole building can take you to your seat. What’s the point of booking a table for a certain time if you can’t get seated until 15 minutes afterward because the 1 person who you need to speak to is busy pulling pints? When she eventually gave us her time, she went to take us to our table. She then turned back around and walked straight passed us and said quietly to herself then louder to the waitresses someones sat on their table. We were already abit peeved off that it took 15 minutes to get taken to our seats so it didn’t help that she just left us standing in the dining room with no apology that we’d have to wait a little longer. No offer to take us back to the bar for a drink while they ushered the people off the table and then cleaned it, just abandoned us. When we fiiiinally got to our seats, the meals came. 7 out of the 8 meals were lovely but the 8th meal was raw. When the waitress came to take it back, no apology from them just took it away. Another waitress came over and asked if our meals were ok, we said yes although we’ve had to send one back as it was raw, all she said was ‘awww’ nervously giggled then walked off. Again no apology! The whole evening could of been handled differently, we wouldn’t of left with a bitter taste in our mouths if we’d of had better customer service and an apology or three. This was meant to be a lovely family meal to celebrate a 60th Anniversary, unfortunately the experience was far from lovely. I feel sorry for my Nana and Grandad as their occasion was ruined by poor customer service.

We are not 'regulars' but eat here every few weeks and in the past we have always enjoyed our visit. However, recently we found the food below par - the chorizo in a pasta dish was overcooked, the portion of chips was miniscule, the Raspberry Pavlova dessert consisted of meringue and cream but only a couple of raspberries and some coulis. Added to this, the service was poor as it seemed that only two young men were on duty - serving behind the bar, taking orders, serving food. Myself and another Diner had to shout in to the kitchen to get someone to come to the bar. I hope that this was just an 'off day'.

We came for lunch for 6 adults on 24th March. 5 had the roast dinners and one had gammon. Although it was very busy, and there seemed to be a function also being held, the service was quick and efficient. We had main meals, desserts and drinks and all were beautifully presented and very tasty. Not having been to the Reindeer for a couple of years we didn't know what to expect but we will certainly be using the venue again in the near future.

Visited on a Friday evening. Was greeted by friendly staff and seated quickly. I ordered garlic mushrooms which were very nice, my partner had tomato soup which he said was ‘ok’. He had fillet steak for main which was ok but the triple cooked chips were not so good. I ordered lamb shank off the specials board which was nothing like described... it came in a sauce that was like a casserole mix (no mention of sauce on the menu) the mash was awful and the cauliflower cheese was forgotten. When it did come out it was rock hard and watery. The staff were very pleasant and did take the lamb off the bill which was appreciated. Will probably try again later on in the year...maybe we were just unlucky.

I usually visit the local cafe for a post parkrun breakfast. This place is set within a communal garden in the park and was the obvious choice. Whilst queuing (very slow) we saw the quality of the food and decided to just have coffee. These were very strong and bitter with an after taste of burnt coffee beans. I saw a few park runners that were eating, leave their food, one took theirs back. I can’t comment on food but I get the picture.
