Lovely meal today. We had fish, chip, mushy peas and lasagne with a chocolate fudge cake as a pudding. It’s nice to finally have some good pub grub within walking distance.

Fabulous food, wonderful staff. Visited several times now, both midweek and at weekends. Travel from near Louth as a half way meeting point with family. Now visit as a couple as the Hour and a half journey is worth it. Their Sunday lunches are especially good, and midweek signature special, braised beef is amazing. Please don’t change anything, you can’t improve on perfection!!!

We went in for Sunday lunch on 7/4/24. You can tell the food is freshly cooked. We had roast beef and homemade steak pie followed by homemade lemon cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. The staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning

Absolutely shocking food, used to be really good. Waited at least an hour for food to come out, the fish in the fish and chips dish was unbelievable thin and dry extremely unappetising, lasagne dry, chips were cold on several plates. Thick skin on gravy. I respect we in a cost of living crisis and costs have to be cut somewhere but this was diabolical, won’t be returning for food, shame because it used to be a really good pub.

Travelled from near Louth as a tester to meet up with family half way who live near Manchester. Wonderful meal, helpful staff who could not do enough for us. First time we have ever given ten out of ten for food. Thank you so much, we will be regular visitors.

Best pub Sunday lunch I've had in years.

Booked on speck for my dad’s Birthday as he lives in a home in Doncaster. We had Sunday lunch and it was like sitting down to a home cooked lunch. One of the best I have had. Dad who is 93 ate the lot. We would definitely call in again if in the area. Friendly staff and great food. Well done

Had to wait over an hour for starters to arrive only to be wrong.... no rush to go back... wasn't as though it was busy...

Over the past few years many fine pubs have gone to the wall. Sadly this unwelcoming, dingy whole wasn't one of them. Unless you're desperate for an experience right out of a 1980s dystopian drama then you'd be better off going thirsty As for the response below, for which replies are turned off. 0.125ml of the flavour (which you don't sell) in 500ml of purchased beverage.... please do the maths , this makes the legal ABV of the resulting beverage a soft drink and indeed below the alcohol free beers available

Great food! Home cooked and worth the wait. The steak pie is amazing and my new favourite is the thai curry .

The food was plentiful and homemade. I had lasagne, side salad and garlic bread, which was really nice. Most dishes were accompanied by chips and typical pub grub at very reasonable prices . The room was cold and wasn't very busy so this let the atmosphere down

Well done to Ado, chef and the team. Definitely will be back 😊

Held our annual Xmas gathering here for four 'old farts' and were not disappointed. What the venue lacked in Xmas atmosphere (Tuesday 19th December) quite empty? was more than compensated with the quality of the food.

The food was great to say Christmas eve. Food was limited came out hot and great. Bar staff were busy and waitress worked hard to get food out.

Visited 13 December with friends and dined from the Christmas Fayre menu. Great value for money, started with Pate, Turkey dinner with all the trimmings (couldn't finish it!) finishing off with Christmas pudd. Great value for money would highly recommend.

We went here by mistake if I'm honest, we thought it was one of the chain pubs we'd visited a month or so earlier just down the road. I'm glad we gave it a chance! When we went in, we found it was almost empty in the dining area, which was good for us as we'd tried a few other places nearby and they were all packed. But I did wonder if this may be a bad sign? (It wasn't). The staff were immediately welcoming and the menu had a good choice of food available - all cooked to order, and the service from the staff was excellent. We had a really good meal here and will no doubt be back when we are in the area next.

Brilliant had a great afternoon watching the racing and the pizza was the best thing I had ever.

The food was lovely, we went on a Sunday lunch quite early so it was quiet and it was the first time we've been so can't comment on the atmosphere. The young girls were lovely and very professional. Would definitely recommend.

We popped into the Horse 🏇 and Groom for a few after work pints, Thursday evening. We were welcomed and able to set up a tab, which was really helpful. A few pints and some nibbles (chicken wings) and a Chicken kebab 🍢 and we were on our way. Friendly service, clean pub 🍻 decent ale and a good selection on tap. Went there for the braised beef with mash on a tuesday night. Food was top-notch, Guinness was great, service was superb. The atmosphere in this traditional pub was as brill as always. Still love the Horse & Groom!!!

First time trying the Yorkshire pudding wrap. Oh my god it was more than I thought loads of meat and roasted potatoes in and a bowl of vegetables and gravy this was worth the money. 5 stars for the wrap. This time I had the home made treacle sponge pudding lovely big piece shame about the custard just a little pour over the pudding. With not alot of custard the pudding was very dry. Sorry only 3 stars for the pudding.

It's my local, love the place and the staff. . But had a bad meal there last time. ... but went for a lunch and really great again. Sat in the garden, hot lunchtime.... ... fish goujon ciabatta was really lovely and large haha. Washed down with a pint of Madri what more do you need.

We went for a 80th birthday party, we were informed to order from the internet,there menu,so we ordered the rump steak £12.95 and when we got there, they have stopped doing the rump they only do serlion and that is the old menu. Why don't companies update menu's. The serlion was £20.95 then I ordered 2 scoops of ice-cream for dessert it came out the size of scoops was melon ball size they charged me £4 95 plus noticed our drinks.were different prices. I'm sorry but won't be going there again for a meal

I would highly recommend this little gem , staff very friendly and the food was beautiful , cannot fault . We will definitely be returning in the future

Eaten here for years but meal tonight was very disappointing on portion size. The food was tasty, but very small portions. Cajun chicken salad had at best 4 very small pieces of chicken. Salmon salad, again, very small pieces. But even the salad was very small. More like a starter. Hopefully this is a one off.

Fantastic food and superb service. The pub had two good quality ales on and an extensive menu. I went for the Cajun chicken kebabs which were excellent. Top value and an enjoyable visit. I'd definitely recommend.

Went to eat and although the menu has changed since we last went (years ago) the food was still nice and so were the staff. Prices have increased (£20 for a mixed grill) what food hasn't increased in value? Overall a good visit and we would go back!

Nice traditional style pub, it just needs one more guest ale pump to get the 5 stars. Don't want to have to default to John Smith's or Guinness just because I'm not a fan of the one guest ale they have on that day.
