Friendly welcome, good service, great food (try a REAL pie!), and all at a reasonable price.

Just had lunch gave us wrong soup 3 of us it was not watt we asked for 🤮

This pub is fairly local to me 15 minute drive into Arundel If I’m wanting a pub lunch this is the no1 pub for food, service ambience & decor in Arundel Ok the Black Rabbit is a great spacious setting on a nice day but this pub also has a nice sunny garden but more importantly the food is exceptional My friend & I both had the small sized ploughman’s (huge amounts) & a proper ploughman’s every ingredient a ploughman’s should be! The service was a bit slow only 1 girl behind bar & she seemed to be taking food to tables as well! Still she was very pleasant & made the best pimms ( so many pubs fail to do this & when your paying £7:20 a glass you expect all the fruits & mints that go with it! Won’t hesitate to return be coming here for years & it never fails!

Food arrived quickly with very generous portions. Delicious food and very well presented. Music was at a nice volume which made it easy to have a conversation and gave a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely going to return to try more on the menu.

I really enjoyed my light lunch at the historic and very popular 300 hundred years old Red Lion Pub located on High St with its lovely Beer Garden at the back where I enjoyed a delicious Salt & Pepper Squid with a mixed Salad, sweet Chilly and a side of Chips with a refreshing glass of Pinot Grigio. I was welcomed with a smile and enjoyed hearing the happy conversations of many my French compatriots having lunch there too on that day ! The Red Lion is hosting very popular live music sessions every Friday & Saturday and welcome local Artists temporary exhibition as part of their Arthaus. Their very appetising menu features breakfasts, Sunday Roasts & delicious made to order dishes on a daily basis. I will very happily stop by the Red Lion Pub on my next visit to the beautiful City of Arundel 😊

A lively pub with a standard food menu. Had Burger, fish and scampi. Arrived pretty quickly. All three were hot and tasty.

Our go to pub in Arundel, good vibe, with a mixture of live music. some better than others, but that is personal preference. We (10) had Sunday lunch yesterday and the roasts were delicious! Hot, tasty, good portions and excellent service. The roast chicken was unreal. The gravy was superb. Fish and chips got rave reviews as well. The Guinness was excellent and you can see why the pub is always busy. We are looking forward to our next visit already!

Great pub for food, plenty of drinks options. On saturday arrived at 6 left at 10. The live band were "setting up" the whole time. Top tip- tell them to practice at home 🤣🤣🤣 Cool pub though!

This had been our local in Arundel for the last 3 years, Chris and Sam with the help of Lorraine have been great hosts. The food is great thanks to an excellent chef. Saturday night live music is always jumping. Thank you guys.

Really good fish and chips, a good size portion. Very friendly staff, a great place. Well pleased.

The atmosphere of the pub was warm and friendly. The food was mediocre. We had burgers and fish and chips. Was disappointed to find the coleslaw and the peas in paper cups. Made the meal look tacky. And the fries were really greasy. The open fire was a lovely touch really made the place feel cosy.

We went for Sunday lunch whilst visiting Arundel. I did reserve a table which was a good move as the pub got busy & people were turned away who hadn't made a reservation. The staff were attentive and the meals were good with generous portions. There was a nice atmosphere with a fire and a mixture of locals and visitors. I would recommend if you are in the area.

Excellent choice of food at very good prices . The service was very good and staff friendly. The roast was huge and delicious. Fish and chips was tasty with a lovely batter on the fish and nice chips. All by a log fire .

Needed a location that would take 11 people for a Saturday Birthday Lunch. Eventually afamily member chose the Red Lion as it was roughly half way between family member locations. Turned out it was an excellent choice, everyone enjoyed their food. I had the crab with salad and chips and was not disappointed,

Very nice staff, nice warm pub even though it was cold outside, drinks were a little pricey but not too much. Member of staff was having her last day but still made us feel fabulous

We found the Red Lion, having walked from Littlehampton along the river. We didn’t want a roast & were glad to see that their full menu was available & I had the most delicious ploughmans - really good food. We saw a lot of roast dinners around us & they looked fabulous too.

A nice pub and a good stop for a Sunday roast. Each one comes with a parsnip, roast potatoes and giant Yorkshire pudding, and on the wide with a serving of cauliflower cheese, broccoli, carrots and mange tout peas. Speedy service and has a sun trap beer garden at the back so there is plenty of space.

We visited the pub in the afternoon and booked a table for dinner. On arrival for our booking, we were asked if we were expecting to eat and told that the restaurant was closed! Apparently there had been some sort of emergency with staff. These things happen but the pub had my phone number and could easily have called to advise, so we could change our plans.

Whilst in Arundel this Sunday we decided to go into The Red Lion pub for dinner. Fortunately we were able to get a table for two. The menu was good and the food was well cooked and tasty. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We have visited many times in the past and have always been pleased with our visits.

Always has a good atmosphere with live music on the weekend. Tables and patio heaters in the rear garden. Very easy to spill a tray of shots on the steps though!

The pub was in fantastic position close to everything, but the lunch we had was not good value Meal 1 was pie of the day which was chicken bacon and tomatoes, not appetising Meal 2 was fish n chips, the fish was a small portion covered in overbakedand dissapointing The meal spoiled our visit for the day

Friendly pub always a good atmosphere

I had the smoked mackerel pate, which had old, dried bits of chicken in (I don’t even eat meat, which made it even worse) and I’ve been seriously ill with food poisoning for the last few days, which started a couple of hours after eating this. I have felt so ill and to be honest the staff seemed pretty unbothered by the whole thing. I’ll also be informing the FSA. On the plus, nice beer garden and prime location.

Called in the red lion for a beer on a hot sunny day. I was surprised to find they had four quality bitters on the hand pump also a large selection of lagers and ciders on draught. The pub is popular with locals and tourists. A great place to stop for a quality beer on a hot sunny day.

Visited with my parents. Good atmosphere, staff friendly and welcoming and food was ok. Would visit again. Oh and it's dog friendly!

We came for Sunday lunch here in March on Mothers Day and it was brilliant: tasty meat, loads of fresh veg, excellent Yorkies with top notch service from the lady who served us. However, our Sunday roast yesterday was so disappointing: nothing was hot, far fewer vegetables, Yorkshires were limp - as if everything had just been reheated. Service was non-existent: we were going to order dessert but we sat with plates for clearing for ages so in the end just left. Hoping it was just a bad day and things can improve.

We have been here before a couple of years before when my partner had smokies but unfortunately it wasnt on the menu this time. Still love the food and Scott says the cask ale was really good. He had the smoked haddock on a bed of spinach and new potatoes. Cant fault the service and I'm sure we will be back but hopefully a bit sooner

Went on a Sunday lunchtime and whilst we did not eat the food looked great. Had a good selection of beer and the garden out the back was nicely done.

Looking forward to calling in today, travelled down from 'Lancashire', the "Best 'Smokies', Ever. See our lovely niece who we haven't seen for 2years

Front half of bar wonderful back half is very ambience lacking. Called in for a drink and dinner. Asked at bar if any table without a reserved sign free, yes I was told but a few min later a reserved signed was slapped on the table. Upon checking was told, suck it up l, reserved. Did stay for dinner when we found another table. Food a very tasty microwaved selection, say no more. Staff need customer service training.

Relaxed outside courtyard area to eat on a sunny lunchtime with friends and dogs. Staff worked hard and were very pleasant. Food was okay. Wine not particularly nice or cold. A good stop off in central Arundel.

While the culinary offerings left much to be desired, it's worth noting the commendable gesture of promptly refunding our dissatisfaction with the prawn linguine. The ambiance of the rear patio exudes a pleasing atmosphere, adding to the overall appeal of the venue.

We really liked the beer, the location of the place was very good. Unfortunately the food was very bad, I left my dish (Linguini with shrimp) and the very attentive staff gave me a refund without even requesting it. Very good service. But I wouldn't go back since the food was not recommended at all.

Visited here before it’s in my opinion the best pub food I’ve been to for a long time, good choice food quality food at reasonable prices staff very friendly as are the bar staff, staff who definitely enjoy there job and absolute pleasure to go to Sunday lunch Sunday 4/2/24 Brilliant.

The most reliable of Arundel's pubs in terms of service and quality. Never empty, which is a good thing (dead pubs are weird). Some fantastic live music. Decent food. Good drinks selection. Large beer garden in the summer. Cosy fireplace in the winter.

Fantastic roast lamb dinner today. Loads of veg (peas, broccoli, cabbage, parsnip) and the cauliflower cheese in a separate dish was delicious. Lovely roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding too. All for a very reasonable price. Generous portions - couldn’t quite manage it all but almost finished it! My husband had pie and mash and was also very impressed. Great service too and lovely staff.

Staff member has seen me in here before I’ve always been id and they have accepted it until the 29th of December 2023 when a female staff member that looks way younger that me said she won’t accept it and treating me like a child ands making me feel disrespected in a place I was coming to have a good time infront of my friends absolute joke.

Popped in for a cheeky pint and lunch. Camembert starter to share. Gourmet burger and bangers and mash mains. Lovely food, beer, atmosphere and staff. Super helpful and friendly. We’ll be back.

Food was good solid traditional British pub fayre of yesteryear, decent ale selection that was well kept, and service was excellent. They seemed to be playing country music all evening though, which puts me off going back. I have a VERY low tolerance for country music though, so maybe that just me :D

Buzzing in the evenings towards the end of the week, live music most Friday/Saturday, decent vibe, comfy sofas, good beer garden. Cask ales unfortunately can be hit and miss, often stale or on the turn. Keg beers expensive. Worth a visit if you’re not an ale drinker!

First visit to Arundel; during the Evening, myself and friends decided to try out The Red Lion for dinner, collectively for the first time. Everything from the service, very friendly, patient, and helpful atmosphere from staff, incredibly quick delivery of our meals, to the simply beautiful quality of the food itself. My first impression felt so outstanding to me that I simply had it on my mind to get home and give a top positive review. I'll certainly remember to visit The Red Lion again on my next visit to Arundel!

Loved coming here for Sunday Lunch! Their roast dinners are so delicious and the best part is that they are dog friendly! Best place to go after a nice long dog walk.

No problems here, good food and good service in a nice traditional pub. A Caesar salad, fish and chips and a burger and chips with drinks came to £52.

Food was pretty awful, I went to complaint about it, I requested a medium cooked steak and it was well over well done, they are been so kind to change the dish and cook one afresh but I got burned meat again! The pepper corn sauce, the first one just was tasting as double cream, the second one was just silly full of peppercorns as I never seen before in the entire UK. The onion rings were uncooked. The steak burger was chewing in the mouth! Friendly and disponibile stuff, but they wouldn't know where the orders are going. They looks lost in the garden. The oil they use to fry should be changed!

I rate this place as slightly below average. They get pluses for efficient & friendly staff & patio. They get dings for uninteresting food & lack of table service. I had the Caesar salad - they did not cook the chicken themselves, the croutons were chewy, & the dressing was blah. I could have bought a Lunchable & brought it with me.

Typical English pub food. Plenty of seating inside and out in the garden. You order your food and drinks at the bar pay and take the drinks back to your own table. Atmosphere is loud but to be expected in a popular pub.

Absolutely fab drinks and service but food was very expensive for what we got. I don't want to moan for the sake of it, but kitchen can definitely do better.

Lively pub good selection of beer- bigger than it looks from the outside. Had a folk trio playing live when we were there so a great atmosphere.

Nice bright clean traditional pub. All the ales perfect. It does not feel cramped so great for meals. Food really good, and make it stand out from other Pub Foods is the attention to detail, veg cooked perfectly, same with salmon and new potatoes. Salad nice and fresh. Starters like calemari not overcooked or greasy. Good friendly service. The only downer is food portions huge, so if you are not near starvation, order loads of starters to share!
