Royal Oak in Arun

Arrived tonight wanting a nice pub meal only to be told the kitchen was closed. Despite their website stating food was served from 6pm. How hard is it to put something on your own website to let potential customers know? Wasted journey.

Lovely staff. Had to stop over when my baby was sick in the car and the ladies in there were really great

Excellent tasting food. Very good quality and definitely value for money. Lamb shank was best I’ve tasted. Desert was delicious too.

Called in for lunch today with my wife good selection on offer, food was excellent, plentiful and good value for money.

What a lovely Sunday Lunch, I had the Roast Pork, there was plenty of of it, with my favourite Crackling,and stuffing, a large homemade Yorkshire pudding, with Roasties and veg. My Husband had the Steak & Ale Pie, which he said was delicious. We were too full for a pudding, but next time, I will certainly leave room for one. It was good friendly service. There is a garden, but although it was sunny, it was a bit windy to sit out there. But a great idea for the Summer months. Sorry, I forgot to take any photos.

Lovely fresh cooked food, value for money

Lovely pub if you're looking for somewhere for a quiet meal. Good variety of food (decent sized menu plus specials) which all tastes home cooked and decent quality at a reasonable price. Pub is a little on the chilly side at winter but completely understandable given how ridiculous energy costs are nowadays and how much it must cost to attempt to heat large high ceiling rooms with single glazing - just make sure you wear a jumper in cooler months and you'll be fine. Friendly service and nice decor.

The Sunday lunch was OK.but there was no atmosphere, and the room where we ate was cold.dont think I will go back.

We stopped here for Sunday carvery As it was the only pub around that had space as didn’t book elsewhere, thus was around 2.30pm so quite late lunch. 1st service : well it didn’t really exist Stood at carvery area for sometime with staff ignoring us, when the lady turned up she was polite, Sat down with food, no cutlery! Had to find someone to ask, the pub only had 3 other diners so not busy. Didn’t see anyone throughout the meal, it was like there was no staff only diners. Once finished had to stand waiting again to pay, We was then asked “are you full” I replied yes thanks. Payed the bill I then said thank you & bye had no reply!!! Food: It was ok, better then customer service, But some of the food was quite cold so really not that great overall The pub was nicely decorated but all the windows open in mid oct made it cold. Sat with coat on. Again if there was customer service they may of thought about their customer sitting eating in s cold restaurant. It could be a great place if more thought was put into there customer. No brainier. So mixed feelings, food taste good nice choices, but just about Luke warm not good, Service no existent So would not return.

Lovely staff. Amazing carvery. Choice of 4 meats, plenty of veg, stuffing, yorkies, sauces, gravy, crisp roasties. Only grumble food was not hot enough, but we soon wolfed it down!! Garden is very neglected, with a lot of tlc it could be a lovely place to sit. £36 for 2 carvery’s, 1 pint of lager and half of cider.

Had a lovely carvery at the Royal Oak!! The amazing staff managed to accommodate 21 of us!! Food was good quality and homely!! We will definitely go back!!

Cheap burger, salty. Fried eggs burnt on underside and crinkle cut chips of poor quality. Another customer sent their food back to be heated up. Pub looks nice on the outside and ok inside, friendly staff, but food very poor. What a shame.

After surviving a day trip to Butlins we swung into this treasure of a proper pub on the journey home. Arriving early evening , we were greeted by a relaxed and welcoming bartender who, when asked if there was a kids menu, replied no… but ‘we can do you anything in the main menu as a smaller children’s portion, if you want’ What a fabulous offering and idea, unheard of in any pub I’ve visited anywhere… So we ordered plenty and enjoyed it all, real old school proper home cooked loveliness… Friendly, attentive and just how things should be, look forward to visiting again…

A very clean and hospitable establishment, the lady behind the bar was pleasant and friendly. Had the Sunday carvery with choice of beef, pork or gammon, no poultry or veggie options. Gammon was incredibly salty, roast potatoes were soggy with oil and burnt. Nice choice of desserts on the menu but we decided not to spend anymore money in the establishment and didn't bother with them. Difficult to recommend the food but the Fullers Pride is very good!

We visited the Royal Oak on the 6th August. As a family of 4 we were looking forward to their carvery. Well, we certainly were not disappointed. A choice of beef, gammon or pork. In fact we were offered a choice of all three. The meat was well prepared and very good quality. I’ve been to similar places where they cut the meat with a potato peeler, well not here. A big selection of vegetables and the homemade roast potatoes were to die for. The food was hot and not luke warm like some places that do carvery’s. I just about managed a rhubarb crumble and custard for desert. This is somewhere definitely worth a visit. Don’t miss out..

Best home cook food l have tasted for year's the food is all fresh and tasty definitely home from home. The staff are all welcome and friendly and definitely a place to stop.

Took my mum out for a meal at Royal Oak lagness. This was the nicest meal we have had out in a very long time. The food was beyond fresh, hot and lovely. Everyone made us feel so welcome. There aren't many places we say we are going to go back to but we loved it that much I am going to plan to go there for my nursing graduation meal. Thankyou team for making me and my mum feel so welcome.

Visited with my mum & dad and my partner. We had a delicious sunday carvery delicious vegetables and you could choose from beef, pork or gammon. You can choose as many vegetables as you want. We then had a delicious pudding each, the waffle was amazing. Reasonably priced and good service. Everybody so friendly.

Stopped in motorhome lovely host allowed us to stay in Carpark overnight, had lovely evening chatting to regulars and bar staff.

Went for Sunday roast, had previously booked table. My wife and I are both vegetarian, but she has severe garlic allergy. No problem for chef, they did us two totally different vegetarian dishes, both of which were lovely. Vegetarian gravy brought to the table without us having to request it. Even though they were short staffed, nothing was too much trouble. At this Sunday carvery, you do not queue, but each table is sent up separately, therefore, you may experience a little wait, but the system works.

Visiting Chichester from Wales lovely sunny weather looking for nice pub with a beer garden, seeing NO cars in the car park I should have felt something isn't right ,aks for 1pint and a half shandy of shandy, taking our drinks outside, tasting our drinks it was clear the beer was gone over it tasted like VINEGAR, taking the drinks back inside no body around to complain to, So we left!!!

Fantastic food and service. Would highly recommend.

Honestly? Disappointing. We've booked before but this time food was not as good as previously. Roast potatoes and parsnips were soft/soggy. Stuffing was very bland and hard. Vegetables were not very hot. Beef and Turkey was nice and so was the gravy. However, for £13.95 per head not the greatest. I'm happy to pay as I appreciate the additional costs restaurants are facing but on this occasion it fell short of expectation.

What a fantastic discovery... warm and cosy, clean and wonderfully helpful staff with an outstanding freshly cooked, hot Sunday roast selection 😋. Our little man will eat a roast but as with all kids, will kick up a fuss when we're out for dinner - however then lady that seated us and generally looked after us during our visit, was so thoughtful and kind, to offer our son some Chicken nuggets (off the menu) which also meant some peace for us as well. Thank you so much and all the team were absolutely brilliant 👏 😀 we will pre-book next time as well.

Went with my husband and his brother and his wife for a carvery as I'd seen them advertised on my way to work , we had eaten there before but it was run by different owners , we were met by the bar staff a lovely friendly lady she showed us to our table ,told we could go and get our food , the choice of meat were turkey, beef pork and I think gammon, and they don't scrimp on the slices either, the veg choice was a bit limited, cabbage , carrots and swede, we then went to get the most lovely crispy potatoes I've had I a long time .with Delicious gravy. Booked in for a lunchtime meal thinking it would be busy. We arrived to be the only ones there. Lovely clean bar and very well presented. Was a bit chilly as the log fires were being cleaned out. We visited the Royal Oak Pub on Lagness Road this Saturday night for an evening meal. What a hidden little gem! On arrival, we were welcomed by a lovely open fire and friendly staff. The food was fantastic at excellent prices. No long waiting times, and the service from the staff was 5 star *. The venue is modern and has a beautiful homely, welcoming environment. We have lived in Pagham for 25 years, and this is the first time we have visited this pub and will be going more regularly. Thank you to all the staff that made our visit pleasant.
