great working class no nonsense pub (with pool tables and super cheap beer), go there before it gets refurbished (ie gentrified)

Still looks great after the refurb! Staff are brilliant and the beer is great and amazing deals on. Entertainment weekly, it’s finally becoming great again.

Land lord very rude and aggressive shouting behaviour would not recommend going with family witnesses him shouting at the door and people and also shouting at a female who was trying to park her car not very welcoming at all

We came here on a Saturday afternoon for a pre-match (Chesham United) drink. Couldn't fault the place. Good choice of beers, friendly staff and the pizza was excellent.

Looks great since the new refurb, pizza was good and the new cocktails went down a treat.

Ollie and his bar staff have totally transformed the pub. An evening in this is a wonderful night out.

Ollie the new land lord is a really great guy and all the barmaids are really beautiful and I mean stunning all of them

We have been loyal customers of this establishment for many years. However, yesterday we encountered an unfortunate situation involving the new manager. His demeanor towards us was unacceptably rude and disrespectful, despite our polite behavior and efforts to maintain cleanliness. Furthermore, he made discriminatory remarks suggesting that non-English individuals, particularly those of Oriental or Asian descent, are not welcome at this establishment. Such prejudice is not only unprofessional but also unacceptable in today's diverse society.

English pub good food and pretty nice atmosphere.

This pub has new management.The Red Lion is a spacious pub. Unfortunately it doesn't serve food anymore. It does have Entertainment on some nights. It's a quiet pub with a TV and Pool Tables. It has a small carpark and is not far from the Railway Station or Town Centre.

Went here on Saturday to watch Everton v Chelsea… the game was dire but was one of the best parts of the evening. I am a full time wheelchair user and pulled into the car park to discover that the 2 disabled parking spaces had been “reallocated” as an outside seating area with 6 picnic benches… I managed to find one other “normal” space in the car park, wider than the rest, to enable me to get out of my car and into my wheelchair. When I spoke to the lady who said she was in charge that night, she said it was a decision taken by “higher management”, but would pass my comments on. Then we discovered that the kitchen is “closed until further notice” so plans to eat whilst watching the game went out of the window. Finally, to top it all, we asked for crisps to go with our drinks to be told, “Sorry, we’ve got no crisps or nuts at all”. Not just run out of 1 flavour but run out of crisps completely!! I won’t be rushing back… indeed, unless the disabled spaces are reinstated, I probably won’t be able to GET back! (Pictures of reallocation of spaces attached).

Found this place by accident. We had a really good sunday roast here for a very good pricem staff was very nice.

Kitchen closed so no food. Even snacks such as crisps not available. Bar was empty and had to call several times for service

Our new favourite pub. Excellent Mexican food! Lovely community. I must be honest I used to avoid this pub but things have changed! They now offer great MexicanFood. The pub is a great place to Watch the game as they have TV’s and sky sports. It’s nice to see all ages mingling together and enjoying a swift one and Liverpool playing Man U. Happy safe evening :)

Great place for a lunch time drink, staff friendly

I turned up at the pub with my dog just after 8pm, whom they all made a fuss over and got him so water. I went to order some food but the barmaid told me the kitchen had just closed and she was very apologetic. I said ‘oh no! Oh well, thanks’ and headed back to my table. The next thing I know the chef came over to my table and said he overheard and that he felt bad as he was still there so was happy to make me something. I was so touched by this kind gesture! The portions were huge, the food was tasty and of course, great service! Will definitely be coming back, well done Red Lion!

Dog friendly, very large Sunday roast for under £9. Very friendly and accommodating with animals. I really enjoyed it and so did the dogs.

It was fairly empty, it was a nice place but there were signs up saying there would be table service and not to go to the bar, but we waited a while and no one came over so we ended up having to go to the bar to get drinks. It's a good place to get a drink after doing the chess valley walk.

Decent pub, close to town center. In general the place is well kept and open. An attached garden space to sit and relax at. Adjoining the road and close to traffic too.

Good cold refreshing beverage and nice staff, easy to get to location.

1st time been here after a little drive out and stopped for a drink not that busy and not very expensive had a wonder what shops were open

Lovely roast dinner and comfortable atmosphere

went on 15th july for an evening meal . food looked good and what little we ate tasted good but left in a hurry due to the loud disgusting talk by customers and bar staff. when we complained we were told it was a pub and we should go else where. one woman was even sucking on a plastic penis. we were glad the woman with her two children had left. an apology would have been nice but no such luck

To my mind this pub needs refreshing,it's a bit rough and ready.Did go there for a friends birthday,a buffet was arranged and the food was good.But there is no speration to eat food and did not feel comfortable the pub was noisy,the TV was on for the foot ball and there was a lot of shouting.For me there is a lot of others places to eat which are nicer.

Stopped in here last night ahead of a show at the Elgiva theatre. I ordered the all day breakfast (which comes with a few chips) for myself and ham, egg and chips for my wife, along with two drinks. There was some confusion on the part of the server who confused the all day breakfast with the English breakfast (smaller, with no chips and hash browns instead). After a visit to the kitchen it was sorted, and food arrived after about 20 mins All the food was OK, nothing special, Cafe type food, but perfectly edible ( we both cleared our plates).

Went in for lunch as working. Had to move tables as their was a very unkempt man there and smell was very bad! If I hadn't paid, I would have left. Meal was awful!! It was supposed to be New York Chicken. Chicken breast tasted like it was pre formed, like you buy in a pack of 12 from Iceland, utterly tasteless!! It was warmed up, not freshly cooked. Will not be visiting there again.

Enjoyed the curry night special but no real ale included inthe mel package only lager and suds (John Smiths Smooth!). Good value and tasty curry

My friend and I came here on Friday for a meal and a catchup. There's plenty of seating and booths to choose from. We ordered two meals from the two for £10 list and there was so much on there I would be surprised if it didn't suit everyone. The food was good and for £5 each it was great value for money. I would definitely come back as it's local and the staff are lovely.

Visited today and despite it not being busy felt invisible ! The people who stood next to us were served and then the barmaid went out the back to stack the dishwasher . Only after several minutes she returned and took our order ... There was no one else at the bar so there really is no excuse

We spent the day in Chesham and ended up have a Sunday Roast in The Red Lion. The roast was reasonably priced at £8.50 (2016). I would recommend the roast with 3 veg and pots with Yorkshire pudding. The pub inside was average, food came in half an hour, the menu for other food was typical pub menu.
