Place was a ghost town with only 1 other person sitting in there at 10am on a Saturday morning... They also had only 3 options for sandwiches, the fridges were bare! Worst of all the staff just didn't give a hoot and made us the worst Costa drinks we've ever had. So much potential in this place, such a shame!

A stop off, on the way back from somewhere for a coffee break

We called in at this branch on our way to a meeting as we were really early. At the time we were the only customers and we were made to feel really well. The staff are friendly and helpful and dealt with our order for two cappuccino coffees and cakes efficiently. The snack was to the usual high standard I have come to expect at a Costa branch. The branch is typical of the chain and well laid out and spacious. Toilets were modern, well maintained and spotlessly clean.

Nice place to sit and dry off after a long, rainy walk in the Chilterns. Staff were pleasant and coffee was decent, if not great - it is Costa, ffs. A good place to watch the world go by, while you wait for your train.

I was turned away at 15.40 , closing time 4pm. Disappointing.

We come to this costa a fair amount and at different times of the day. They never have toast and their cake choice is always very poor. Today there was a choice of around 4 different cakes. It’s not a one off it’s aways like this. The table was also dirty which I had to clean it.

Really nice and staff provided good quick service while still being kind friendly.

This is just the dirtiest Costa ever and never gets any better. The staff are inept and rude. Just an absolute disgrace. It's an embarrassing blemish on the high street. And add insult, they can't even be bothered ro respond to any criticism!!!!

Staff can be very friendly, and nice drinks and food. For those who do not like 'chains', a 'chain' will provide some competition but if the local businesses are superior the chain should hopefully not make an impact. If the local businesses were not superior the 'chain' provides the competition, and hopefully raising the standard of local businesses.

Very expensive staff good service to slow

On a day when I was nearing 40°, the aircon was a life saver. Coffee and toastie nice too.

Stopped off for coffee - customer service brilliant

We stopped in for something to eat after visiting the roald dahl museum, the guy who was serving us Josh was lovely, even stopped for a moment to discuss dinosaurs with my son. The food was good, the coffee was good and we loved the James and the giant peach picture on the wall!

everything was going great until i was halfway through my drink and found a shocking amount of ants in my drink, although i did get a new drink it wasn’t a nice experience

Couldn’t get coffee or hot drinks of any kind when visited this lunchtime as machine was broken and they had no backup. Fancy going into a coffee shop & expecting to be able to get a coffee - the very idea! What a joke.

Very nice open indoor space which at the time suited us well. Nice food on offer alongside the expected great coffee. Customer service was great. Slight downfall was the toilets which seemed to be suffering a bit.

Staff is nice, average Costa coffee. Ridiculous police about pets. I can go in with my dog to pick up a take away but not sit there. I really don’t understand Costa

Just a quick takeaway, so didn't pay much attention to anything, but staff were nice.

This is a good Costa .... They are not always, but this one has nice staff, offers a good drink & a comfy seat. The only negative is the looongg code you need to get into the loos.

I won't come back there. A bit smelly, a bit dirty (trays), barista can't make patterns on coffee. Why do we pay so much for coffee there? I think it's stupid and it's better to go next door where is usually hard to find a table for a reason, opposite to Costa.

Visited for a morning coffee. No bread for toast. No chocolate twists. 2 staff on duty at a busy time, who were not welcoming or friendly in any way. The seating area was very sparce of tables (i can understand that it would be like this during the worst of Covid but the tables are so spaced out it makes it feel like the place is about to close down). I visited another Costa not far from here recently and the set up was exactly the same as here. I think Costa/franchises are going downhill. Very disappointing visit

Very poor never had a cup of tea made this way large cup not full and then he put the tea bag into the water then i am asked how much milk do i want . The lady in front of came back and asked for her drink to be topped up so I'm not the only one

I visited this cafe today and was created by a very rude worker. She took my drink i brought to the til and my friend said “oh and that please” she had already asked for the money and put it up on her screen but then said “I KNOW” very bluntly and redid it, it was very clear she did not know and my friend was just trying to help. I was then given my tostie and my friend was given his panini and neither were cut so we had to rip them in half which caused a mess and honestly isn’t a massive deal but after that took place we were getting annoyed. Then my friends younger sister had a cooler which was meant to be blended but there were huge clumps of ice and some mango in it. I am disappointed as i have been here many times and very much enjoy this costa but if you are treated by a rude lady with a fringe and glasses don’t say i didn’t warn you!

I am not a coffee drinker. However, I like Costa because of the tea, which is served with boiling water and in a teapot. Place was clean and staff were helpful.

Only 2 staff on and afraid when walked in although empty tables, they had dirty cups and cutlery on. 😬

The staff make this establishment! You receive the loveliest welcome every time. Belinda in particular is the most kindest and warmest person you could ever meet, the type of friendly face you want to see in your local coffee shop! She makes your visit and heightens your experience every time. 5 stars for all the staff!

Quite location and good service by friendly and welcoming staff

Tables are always dirty and staff always stood chatting to each other, almost making you feel sorry for interrupting them to order!

The girl serving me coughed all over my drinks, the tables needed clearing and were dirty.

The cafe is nice and spacious with large windows for views. Staff are friendly and quick. I was looking forward to trying out the new Ruby Hot Chocolate by Costa as I have tried Ruby Cocoa beans before and enjoyed it, however, the Ruby Hot Chocolate tasted more of Newsquick Strawberry, but it is nice that Costa is experimenting with the idea.

I like this little coffee shop. The food and drinks are always good. The facilities always seem to have some sort of issue but the food and drink are good.

Unfortunately today there was a horrendous leak in the middle of the store which meant the ceiling was collapsing however the young girl seemed to have everything under control and made us all feel at ease :) very friendly and polite staff and an amazing hazelnut flat white, I will definitely be returning! Thank you.

Everybody knows Costa. Coffee is OK if you are a coffee connaisseur then this is not Monmouth. Also hygiene really varies from one place to another and the food is not great. Will be interesting to see how it will evolve now Coca-Cola bought them.

The server was surprised when I asked for our panini and tuna melt to be heated, forgot the millionaire shortbread we asked for then forgot what we looked like when bringing our food to the table. Despite there being only 10 people in the restaurant and him having served us only 2 minutes before, he excused himself by saying he ‘served so many people they become a sea of faces’. Restaurant is dirty, food on the floor, crumbs on tables and seats yet all 3 servers are currently doing nothing behind the counter. Toilet is also dirty and no loo roll.

Popped in this morning (sat 12), served by ginger bloke, blonde girl and tall blonde lad. Top service, friendly staff and nice drink. Cant complain

This Costa shop is always in a dirty condition with food on the tables, floor and over the seats. The toilet also is usually in a dirty state. Out of all the local Costa shops this must be the worst one.

I stop at a number of coffee shops when travelling with my work. This was my first visit to this one in Great Missenden which I don’t think has been there very long. I was impressed with the airy layout as soon as I walked in and impressed again with the friendly service. Yes it is just a coffee shop but a good one where I enjoyed my panini and flat white.

Standard but was disappointed my black forest hot chocolate was made with no cream or chocolate sprinkles 😕

First I'm not sure why Costa is on Trip Advisor, it's a coffee shop the same as every other Costa, what's next, McDonald's? Anyway I visited this particular Costa to find a queue of people waiting on ~10 orders and decided to give it a miss. Given actually 'crafting' the coffee drinks is the skilled job, why they put the junior on as the barista and have the experienced guy on the till I do not know.

Considering the place was empty and they were far from rushed off their feet I found today's visit unacceptable and the employees' behaviour rude. Avoid at all cists, instead go to the cafe next door!

Just dropped in for a coffee with my son. Not been here for a while but oh my goodness! The state of this place! First stop was the toilet and it looks like this has not had attention for weeks. The floor, and seating areas including the tables were not clean and littered with cups, plates and and food. Considering the first thing you look at is the service area this resembled a war zone! The coffee prep area covered in waste coffee grounds, the machine was filthy with all sorts of stuff littered over counters and floor... You get the picture.

Lovely staff, clean, comfy. We ordered tea, hot chocolate, milkshake and pastries. The tea and hot chocolate were fine but the milkshake was just frothy milk and syrup, nothing remotely like a real milkshake. I think the pastries had been out in the open for a little too long as well because they were dry on the edges.

Usually pop by for a quick coffee when visiting a friend (half way). It’s a Costa coffee... that’s it!. What makes my rating low is the customer service. 3 times now we have been asked to move tables (around 4pm) because the staff need to hover. I have never been into another costa and seen staff hovering. I would imagine this is done after hours. Not in missenden.

This is just another Costa. You know what to expect and that is what you get. Once inside you could be in any town or village anywhere. Why anybody would visit such a beautiful village as Great Missenden and then choose to sit in a Costa escapes me. There are excellent independent coffee shops nearby.

Just popped in for coffee and croissants with my family. As one would expect, the coffee was lovely and the croissants were fresh and tasty.

Well as its a costa coffee dont expect silver service however service was a little slow but the coffee i ordered was nice and my lemon tart was delicious. The biggest issue i had is I went to the toilet and they are disgusting look like they havent been cleaned for a long time. I dont live in the area was only visiting for a wedding so not much chance of me returning but if i am ever in area wouldnt go back due to the fact the toilets were so dirty. Makes me think what else havent they cleaned

The usual good coffee and treats. The main problem was the dirty toilets with no soap, and floors that needed a REAL cleaning, not just a perfunctory sweep.

UNETHICAL! HOSTILE STRATEGIES. Avoid!!! Isn't it bad enough that Costa opened up NEXT DOOR to the local family run cafe? So luckily the owners of the family run business next door just get on with it, despite the corporate competition. Now Costa employees stand outside giving away free samples - YES that is something all branches do - but right opposite the competition that they opened next door to? REALLY!? I have photos to prove but won't publish until faces can be blurred. I always support local but when I'm out of the area I WAS a fan and had a loyalty card. No more - bad show Costa, shame on you! Just to make absolutely clear I have no connection to ether coffee shop nor cafe. I live around the corner. UPDATE: as I was sitting in the cafe, three times different members of Costa staff walked past in quick succession to the next shop unit (an estate agents) then span around, walked back and glared at me. It was quite intimidating. The last person to try come past was a young lady, as she looked directly at me I raised my arms in disbelief. Instead of being professional and perhaps doing the same, she stormed INSIDE the cafe - no care for the customers present. I believe this may have all been caught on camera. Her beef was I had taken a photo of the staff handing out the drinks outside. I promptly tried to reassure her (as I wrote here earlier) that I wouldn't have exposed faces and actually had decided to send the images only to the Costa head office. She proceeded to tell me this wasn't legal and I had to point out, actually no crime had been committed and further more, I knew my issue had to be with head office because until this moment it had not been a personal argument and I had no wish to get into it with individuals. I was actually about to offer to delete the photos once I had mailed them to head office but wasn't given a chance. Sadly the moment she stepped into the cafe and raised her voice to me, this turned into something very personal. She wasn't even on the photos so had just attempted to be part of the crowd causing me discomfort. (Very childish). I sat in the cafe for a few moments very upset. My heart was racing and I was also upset that things had got out of hand. So I decided to go next door and asked to speak to the manager. With hindsight, I should have telephoned but as I was only next door that seemed weird. As I walked in, several members of staff were all discussing the whole tale loudly in front of their own customers. In that moment I felt instantly as if I was being rounded on in a school playground. I was asked to leave by a polite young man so only a few seconds were in the coffee shop and the rest outside. The girls that worked there followed me and were just talking AT me, telling me I had no right to be in there. I mentioned the fact one member of their staff had just done exactly the same, she instantly denied it until I pointed out next door had cameras. At one point I asked to speak to just one person and had thought this was to be the young man. Then a woman who said she worked in the kitchen said the young man couldn't speak for them all he wasn't the manager I asked if she was in charge and she said she was. I had my first opportunity to defuse things slightly by explaining my position however, unfortunately at this point one of their female customers came out from Costa. She tried to push the barista back inside like she was his mother! She then noticed a customer from the cafe had been stood outside, he had witnessed EVERYTHING (both parts) but so far he had stood silently and observed. She poked him and called him a bully and I could see this might escalate! So by the time someone opened the Costa door and said "we have the manager on the phone" I walked away. I'm very, very upset. Costa is staffed by children, with no one (except the young male barista) acting as if they represent the brand, let alone in a professional manner. When you wear a Costa uniform you represent Costa, this wasn't personal until the show YOU brought inside first started!

I have visited this Costa 4 times in the last two weeks due to business in the area, and each and every time the service has been unacceptably slow (was not at a busy time, only customer on two occasions) took over 10 minutes the first visit for a coffee and a croissant, and that was after I had been served once the staff had finished having a gossip.

Service was friendly but slow and it was only us waiting. Building was clear and tidy, also liked that it had enough space between tables.

Ok. A bit dark. Not great atmosphere as usually pretty quiet. Popular with cyclists. Try the independent cafe next door!

Have popped in for Coffee & Pannini a couple of times. Friendly staff, quick service. Standard Costa offerings and prices. Clean and tidy - no problems at all.

Lunch for 4 with drinks I was expecting a little customer service

The service is never with a smile. The drinks are served warm not hot. The Lindt special Christmas hot chocolate drink was served to us without cream or anything sprinkled on top and tasted no better than a regular hot choc. I am sure they used to add cream and mini biscuits to drinks at Costa.

A nice big Costa with plenty of well-spaced tables and a relaxed environment. Staff can be a little too relaxed (not the quickest to serve) but definitely one of the best Costas I've been in.

Good, but a bit bland and corporate

Just popped in for a coffee and ended up having a cortado, was wonderful and very well made! Sam served me and he was lovely and helpful. In fact, the whole team were welcoming and the seating areas were clean as well as comfy. Will definitely be returning more often.

Friendly staff, clean and airy with lots of seating. Great coffee. Clean toilets. Exactly what you expect and hope for when you pop in to a Costa.

Usually costa coffee pretty standard at each of their cafes but think the barista here was too busy chatting to his mate to make a half-decent cappuccino - it was like a homemade Nescafé with thin froth (and no choc sprinkles or serviettes offered given once we asked for them). Forgot to bring our cake with the paninis plus it's very drab and tatty and only accepting cash payments. We wondered why it was so empty. Won't visit again.

The usual corporate bland, banal decor and atmosphere that you would expect from a high street chain. Luckily there is an excellent coffee shop right next door.

Very big better seating then most other Costa coffee

Stopped to have some coffee and light refreshments before visiting the Roald Dahl museum with the family. Unfortunately I found the experience quite unpleasant. The cutlery given was unclean, the tables, seating and surrounding floors dirty. Staff were miserable. Having discovered later the museum also had a coffee shop and was a much better experience. Costa is over priced, usually dirty, certainly in all the one I've ever been to, and the coffee far short of the claims they make. I won't be visiting another one again.

Terrile coffee...children serving behind the counter...arrogantt.....the whole lot...will never be going there again.
