This was a sad day for us (Mom’s funeral service) but the buffet lunch we had was just right. Served fresh and with plenty of variety and choice. Many comments from guest how good it was. We had several young people in our party and there was amole to meet their appetites. Jacqui and her team were attentive and very helpful to some of the older people in our group. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended and many thanks for helping to make a sad day a little easier.

We used the Red Hart at Blythe for my Mum's wake after her funeral at Barnby Moor Crematorium. We were very satisfied with Paul and his staff and the hospitality received and all guests were very impressed. We, as a family decided to return at some point to dine there and both me and my Dad went there this afternoon for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had, the food was homemade, extremely tasty and good value and were spoilt for choice with the specials board. We will be going back with the rest of the family very soon and would definitely recommend Paul's food.

Awful meal for Mother’s Day, myself, partner and our baby got seated upstairs, there was no atmosphere, just one other family were sat there it looked like an empty function room. It was cold and drab I felt like we’d been put out of the way. Food was disgusting. carvery meats all swimming in water in one dish together already carved up. Vegetables were solid as a rock and the lady had fetched fresh mashed potato which when we started eating was cold. The food and atmosphere does not even deserve 1 star. Horrible experience McDonald’s on the way home and it’s ruined what should’ve been a lovely family day. Will never return. We used to visit this pub often and it has always been fantastic with a lot of variety! What has happened? Maybe new ownership? Either way save your money and look elsewhere. Very disappointing.

Absolutely delighted that our local pub is now under new management and really starting to take off again. We went for a carvery today and I can honestly say it’s the tastiest I’ve ever had! A proper home cooked Sunday roast….delicious!! The meat was beautifully cooked and the veg was all tasty with a bit of bite left in it (no hint of soggy sprouts!). The welcome we received was warm, friendly and genuine. The service was faultless. Well done to all concerned it’s great to have our pub back in the hands of people who care and a chef who knows that excellent home cooked food is as important as the welcome. Highly recommend

Where to begin, we went out as a family to honour my mums memory who we were burying the next day this pub was where mum often went for lunch with her friends and really enjoyed it. Last night though everything was totally shambolic, we had booked for a party of 11, when we arrived all went well, waitress came and took our drinks order, then came back to take our food order. We ordered starters to share, then various different meals, the waitress went round each of us and took our orders. She then came back to say there was no sausage left for one of our orders so we changed that to another meal. That was the last we saw of her as she left the pub shortly afterwards. After waiting an hour we went to enquire where our food was, to be told it was on the way, then the lady who we presumed to be the landlady came and said ‘I’m sorry but we didn’t see the order for the starters, do you want them with your mains? We said we would just go with the manis. When the mains arrived one order was totally wrong another was a meal we hadn’t ordered, she the said ‘we’ve run out of steak pies do you want chicken and leek, we agreed to this. After another wait with half of us eating and the other half waiting for the pies, the pies arrived, they were awful completely inedible, my sisters meal was still frozen in the middle and my daughters looked disgusting. Almost like they had put left over bits of meat in a tin and covered it with something resembling pastry but looked like raw dough. We sent these back to the kitchen. Then the chef came out and said quite beligerently ‘I can only cook what was on the order’ then walked away before we could reply. By this time I was in tears because of the reason we where there. Surely the cook is responsible for the quality of the food delivered to the table. The landlady to be fair couldn’t apologise enough but kept blaming the young waitress who had taken the order. Surely blame is laid at the managements door and the chef. The landlady didn’t charge us for the pies and everything else at half price. Needless to say we won’t be returning any time soon

Carvery - meat was dry and looked very much like it had been sat there all day but unfortunately the worst part of the carvery was when I got to the veg and there were dead flies swimming with the peas Appreciate it had been a long hot Sunday but the waitresses were very inattentive/ didn't know what puddings there were/ managed to spill a full pint over my husband and the table with very little in the way of apology.

Went on Saturday, never again. Was charged 8 pounds too much initially and given the wrong drinks, I asked for soda and was given lemonade. The glass had a dead fly in it. The waitress said nothing when I pointed it out but glared at me then replaced it. I waited with my husband having paid for two carvery meals over 25 mins, even though they were not busy at all. Staff walking around like they were in a trance doing everything slowly. I assumed my tart was being made because I had ordered the vegetable tart which was eventually brought out and I was told I should get my veg to go with it but my husband will have to wait till someone can serve him the meat. I said I’d prefer to wait for him so we can eat together. I hovered my hand over the tart to see if it was hot enough to wait till they served my husband only to feel no heat. I touched the top and found it was cold. I stuck my finger in the middle and discovered ice crystals. I went to the bar to complain and was stared at. I said I’d like our money back and was told to wait. No apology or attempt to offer anything else. Five minutes later the same member of staff is cleaning a table. I asked why my money had been not yet been refunded to be told she’d asked her boss… that was it! No apology about a further wait or how long it would take. They have no communication skills or basic manners. I waited another five minutes and went to the bar again where the girl came back with the money for my meal. I said what about the other meal, she replied, “well he’s still waiting on the carvery till someone can come out and serve him”. I asked her if she was joking, did she seriously think he’s going to sit any longer and wait or eat there when I’m not eating and whoever is in the kitchen has no clue about food safety. Again no reply just a bovine stare and then another wait till the rest of the money came from someone in the back. I assume the person in the back is the manager. The attitude of this place is appalling and I wouldn’t ever eat here. I’d not trust people so ignorant, lazy, oblivious and rude to serve me safe food. They have no idea of customer service and the word sorry isn’t in their repertoire. Avoid at all costs.

Called in for lunch as we store caravan nearby. Tempura prawn starter was cooked to perfection with batter exactly how it should be for tempura, so I don't care whether they came out of a bag or freshly prepared, they were perfect and nicely presented. Lots of tempting gastro type food on the Specials board but we went for the safe option of beer battered fish and chips. I liked the fact that we could choose between small or large fish, as we are not big eaters so the small was just right. Again, lovely batter on the fish and chips were as they should be. Prices were reasonable by todays' standards. We got there before it became busy, so service was faultless. We were asked by the Waitress and Chef if everything was alright, which is a sign they are confident about the quality of their food. I couldn't find any fault with the food or service, so will definitely be back - maybe Sunday lunch next time, which was recommended by some locals we spoke to.

Food was great, unfortunately they didn’t have the ingredients to make the American Watfles so I settled for pancakes instead - which were light and fluffy, topped with Korean fried chicken. My wife had the pork belly Benedict, it was incredible and the eggs were perfect! All seemed to be made in house and fresh. The decor in the place is nice and rustic, it could do with a decorator in to touch/freshen the place up and a good clean as all woodwork was dirty. Overall a great breakfast and would go back, even though it’s a 50 min drive for myself well worth it.

Called in late Sunday morning after long bike ride. Coffee was okay, bacon toastie not so good. Toast was limp / bit soggy from sweating on plate and bacon not really cooked, think it must have been microwaved as under cooked and more boiled than grilled, no real taste to it - disappointing. Always try to use independent cafes but on this occasion should have gone up road to Greggs.

This was so disappointing. Reasonable price of £6.50 for hot drink and cake. Although the coffee was ok the cake (we had a few of the cakes in our group) were not good quality and begrudgingly paid for them. Also the milkshakes were really poor.
