We were delighted to revisit this lovely village pub under new management! Friendly service, diverse menu and delicious food! Will be going again soon

Visited for lunch after a morning in Bicester and we had a lovely lunch with friendly staff. Chicken mojo skewers which were lovely.

Was visiting the area for a few days and came across this pub. Inside it’s your traditional village pub with nice beams on the ceiling. It was fairly busy with regulars but there was -lefty of space. When we arrived we were welcomed and drinks were brought over to our table that we pre-booked. The food choices were different from normal pub food but there was a good selection. We went for the tapas to share and 4 selections was more than enough for 2 of us (some quite spicy). We saw some of the other food brought out to others and the portion sizes were big. The food was really nice. Overall feel of the pub was great, the service was really good, the food was excellent and we were well entertained by the shouting coming from the kitchen. Would definitely highly recommend and will look to go back there if we are ever in the region.

Was staying locally and wife and I fancied a walk, this was closest pub to our hotel so naturally I made sure our walk took us to it! Pub is situated in the village and was quite busy on a week night due to a party but there was still seats in the bar area. Not much in the way of ale and we didn’t eat, but the lager was good. Staff were super friendly and helpful so would definitely stop by when next in the area.

Wonderful local friendly pub with very helpful staff. The food is amazing. Best roast dinners you can get in the area (and beyond!) and authentic Tapas on the other nights that serve food.

Our tapas was wonderful, and the chef created an extra vegan option on the spot for us! Landlord and landlady are lovel people.

Great breakfast, vegan option is 1st class, they serve a good mint tea too Warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere.

We attended rather late. They had been very busy so some of the roasts were not available. Anyway we all ordered a Sunday Roast and I have to say we all enjoyed our meals. In addition the real ales were good and finally the staff were friendly and very helpful 😀

One of the best Sunday roast dinners I have had in any pub, roast potatoes especially were very very good. Our friend is lactose intolerant and you dealt with it brilliantly and we’re very kind.

What a find! The food was absolutely delicious, the best pub food I’ve had in a long time. The service was excellent and so welcoming. Very friendly locals, especially with our two children. We would come all this way again just to visit this pub! Can’t recommend this place enough.

Me and the wife both went out for dinner and decided on giving the Red Cow a go. So glad we did what a brilliant pub in a lovely setting, nice locals and great staff, we felt really welcome. Food was amazing too. I had the steak special which was perfect and the wife had the halloumi burger. Would seriously recommend this place for a relaxing drink or think they said at the moment it’s 3 nights a week for food looking on the website and trying out the menu. Thanks guys Danny and Kelly

Went yo watch the footie. Unlike other pubs, the banter was good, no yobs spouting swearing out loud. If you want that, go to Bicester. If not the Red cow is the perfect pub to chill. Dog friendly too and food menu is launched June 3rd

We called in on way past. Had scampi and chips and ham/egg/ chips. Generous portions, well presented. Pub was clean and spacious with good facilities. Staff pleasant and friendly

Great little pub, friendly landlord and extremely well looked after beer! I will be back when in the area. Spent some time talking to the landlord and they clearly have a passion for their pub.

A lovely evening was spent with some close friends, we were well looked after after a very wet walk to the pub. The fire was topped up so we could dry off. Glad the pub has survived - good luck for the future

This is a beautiful country pub with lovely friendly staff . Currently just been taken on by new management and in the process of sorting out a food menu . Coffee shop is in operation as well as the beer during the day , great selection of coffee and cake available. I can’t wait to try again when food is up and running . Really hope this pub dies well as it’s a little gem in a pretty village near to M40 well worth a visit .

Lovely village pub by fair. Few things wasn’t right but as I’ve managed a pub before I believe it can’t be helped but the burger me and my friend had was amazing next time we are in the area we are coming back here. Can’t complain about a thing. I do believe if you want to get in here on a Friday Saturday Sunday it’s best to be. Staff were friendly and not the annoying kinda just right. Please give this place a go

This is what you call a traditional local English Pub, serving well prepared, generous and varied menu. Not only that is an excellent friendly and genius welcome from the Landlady and the staff, that do the almost to make you feel welcome. We arrived as a group in need of great food and a pint and we got that. The locals welcome us and we felt at home in this friendly and charming Pub. Certainly, we will need to stop there next time we are in the area.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A very warm welcome by the friendly staff in this beautifully homely pub. Enjoyed a fabulously cooked, fresh dinner at a very reasonable price. Extra marks for the incredible value for money desserts which went down well!! Would definitely like to return for a second visit the next time we are passing through. We called here on our way down to ascot where we are visiting lapland Uk in the morning. I had messaged to ask for a table and we were made to feel so welcome. The food was excellent and the hospitality was second to none, highly recommend

The pub is a charming cottage, and it is located in the heart of a tiny village near Bicester. The atmosphere is really warm and welcoming. It is perfect for enjoy a pint while traveling the countryside. The food is average and the interiors are dated, anyway it is a nice local pub.

A very welcoming pub. The landlord and his family were very friendly especially towards our dog who was fully catered for. We had a family Christmas dinner and the meat was excellent. My diary free and gluten free wife was also well catered for. A great place with real fires, real warmth and good beer. Highly recommended if you just want good grub and a warm welcome.

I don’t believe we cleared the bar when arriving past 2pm with a baby in tow but I could be wrong!Friendly welcome, super sized fish and chips for 2, a tasty burger and plentiful scampi consumed by all present. Empty plates, happy bellies hours, and in 1 case a snooze later (and that wasn’t the baby). Highly recommend and will return if in the area again.

Having lived in the village for 24 years I've seen the pub have a few landlord changes, I have to say since the current staff took over, this has been the best service to date! The good is great and the staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Really nice village pub!

The Red Cow has a good choice of gluton free food as well as non dietry food.In this way the staff cater for alll dietry needs.The steaks are amazing and highly recomended, for when you ask for medium you get medium and you don't need to chase it around the pub.There is also a chance tobook up or join in games which are run there.Overall a great atmosphere and great food

Went yesterday evening with my young family to see what the event had to offer and it didnt dissapoint.Great choice of drinks and the food was excellent too as well as the music.The place was very busy and the staff were under a lot of pressure but they all had a smile on their face and were very welcoming and friendly.We will definately be going back.

We went to Red Cow Friday26th July 2019 we booked for 4 people and thank goodness as it was very busy.We decided to have 4 different meals Burger,Fish and chips, home made pizza dressing to your liking and Scampi and chips even though it was busy all the meals were served within the hour enough time to chat and have a few drinks, really nice people and will be back

Have to agree with the previous review, was in at the same time. Waited nearly an hour for food with no explanation, food mediocre, shame because it's a lovely old Inn, perhaps it was a one off but will not be going back.

What an appalling lunch. Waited over 3/4 hour for a steak baguette and chips. The steak was burnt and I mean burnt. The landladies attitude was appalling. 3 couples in so not busy. When another couple complained of burnt chips she took them away and shouted to chef as she walked to the kitchen"the chips are burnt" the chef came out my god sweating I know its a hot day no fun to be in the kitchen but wear something around your head to stop sweat running down your face and poss onto your food, and chef white coat.

Paul and Terri are fantastic owners - always up for a chat and really care about the village and all its weird and wonderful inhabitants!

We live in the village of Chesterton and this is our local pub, and what a perfect local place it is too!

Along with my husband we walked from our Hotel to this Village Pub for a few drinks. The pub was easy to find, the Landlord was very friendly and helpful with my choice of G&T.; We decided to stay for food, I had a chicken burger and my husband had a beef burger, both were really nice and very well presented.

Visited last night for the burger night. 2 burgers for £15.

What a fantastic little country pub. The food we ate was locally sourced and of good quality, good size portions and well presented on the plate and represents good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are not many places i have eaten at that i would willingly go back to, but this little place i will definitely be going back to.

We've been here twice this year. We are moving to the area and a good local is important to us so we made sure to check it out.

A welcoming, proper, village pub. Pub grub, a decent pin, a range of gins for the fashion conscious, and a drinkable house wine. Heaven! Their beer is well kept and there is a choice of a, non Green King, guest beer most of the time.

We stopped for a drink during a walk around the area. The lady who served us was friendly and enthusiastic.

Stumbled across this pub on a Sunday, we didn't have a reservation but they squeezed us in no problem. Very welcoming and homely atmosphere and a very extensive menu. I had a pie and the portion was absolutely ginormous and it was definitely home made and very tasty.

Wales/Ireland 6 Nations on TV in bar, great atmosphere. Best ham,eggs & chips I have had for years. Beers 'top notch' quality too.

We have a lovely Sunday roast. Very reasonably priced it was tasty and lots of lovely vegetables. I would highly recommend it.

Ok- food was all acceptable- waiter swearing at his children on stairs was interesting!! No knowledge if veggie roast menu! Food was fine- wine list was limiting/ 3 choices of red but one run out and one only half a bottle left!! So no choice!!

Went on a Friday night for a family meal. Had the mixed grill, chicken and ribs and the blue cow burger. Fantastic portions and very good value. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Will definitely be going back

The atmosphere is great - roaring log fire and the staff seemed to know everyone who came in. The man who served us was really helpful giving lots of options for my son who has coeliacs. He ordered the gluten free pizza and it exceeded expectations. I am not at all a fan of pizza but I would happily have eaten the whole one had I had the chance. The base was crisp and it had delicious cheese topping. Not at all like a bog standard pizza. Really yummy!

The only trouble with writing a good review on here is, people read it, & when you want to visit the place again, it's full!!

This is a really nice pub although it was quite cold inside. Staff are friendly and welcoming. We ordered our drinks and food. The service unfortunately was awful and it wasnt busy at all. There was one big family and my mum and I. That was it. But we had to wait 25 nearly 30 mins for our food to arrive! When did eventually arrive the food was very good. We then ordered 2 more drinks but had to wait another 10-15 mins again, still the same people in the pub.

Just been to the pub with my husband and son and oh my god!! The food was absolutely amazing!! We have been here a few times already but they never seem to amaze us!

Went to The Red Cow for dinner with my son 28 November, he had pizza (very good) and I had the rib-eye steak - absolutely delicious. I also started with the crispy chilli beef which was superb. Look forward to eating there again - and a bigger wine-list!

A group of colleagues/friends and I went for supper on Friday evening. We ordered a range of mains from the menu, all of which were very good. Staff were very accommodating when we ordered one meal off-menu. Both drinks and meals were good value. Will return.

Probably one of the worst meals I have ever had, went on a Saturday night, they had 2 large parties in, if this was the reason for their sloppiness, which, I don’t think it was, then they should not have booked us in, my wife’s fish batter was swimming in grease, my gammon was lots of bits instead of one piece, and over cooked, the chips appeared to have been hanging around for a while and had been cooked in fat which was too cool, so they had absorbed a lot of grease.

A great afternoon and early evening spent at this great pub, music was great, food bar grand, and the selection of ales and ciders was well accepted. Everyone is catered for, a great day for a family 😊

I chose the red cow for lunch with an old friend and we were not disappointed. The bar staff had a good knowledge of vegan substitutes available and offered several options 'off menu' such as pies, 'Sausages' as well as vegan pizza. I went for the vegan pizza, which was the best I have ever had, with plenty of cheeze and a ton of other toppings. My friend had the calzone which she said was lovely, and both were huge portions. We will be back!

We’ve been here several times and always thought it a lovely pub and ideal for us to enjoy a drink whilst our 2 boys play in the garden.

The Red Cow's first venture into afternoon tea and I can thoroughly recommend it. A party of nine weary walkers was greeted warmly and served a delicious spread by attentive and helpful staff. Couldn't fault it. Good luck with your future endeavours with teas.

I had not been to this place to eat for some time, but went on the reviews. We were not disappointed.

Went for a birthday lunch after a local recommendation. Garden looks stunning on the website. It isn’t. Ash tray hadn’t even been emptied from last night. Asked for a high chair, which the man behind the bar kindly bought out for us. It was filthy. I’m not too fussy when it comes to that sort of thing, but was reluctant to use it.

We have been here a few times. Sunday lunches are lovely and so is the grill menu. Good value for money and great service. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely pub with an incredible garden at the back.

What a pub, I came in for fathers day with the whole family, 10 of us in total. What an amazing experience. The beer garden is great for the kids and the food was out of this world. All the food came out promptly considering how busy it was and it all looked and tasted amazing, 10 empty plates.

Met up my pal and took my brother for a quick steak in the countryside, I expected a run of the mill experience but we found ourselves delighted by the standard of meal that was served.The welcome was warm and friendly for the travelling outsider. Service came promptly as we finished our first pint. We stayed for a few jars and found ourselves joining the pub quiz and although failed miserably enjoyed a friendly evening with accommodating staff and warm locals.

Went here today. Whole place needs a good clean and overhaul. Ordered a tuna melt and chips. Panini wasn't a panini. It was a baguette. Cheese wasn't melted. Chips were greasy and mahogany in colour. Looked like they had been out in the sun and warmed up several times. It was disgusting. Worse food I've seen for a very long time. We sent it back and left. They didn't charge for drinks as compensation but who these days serves food like this!!

Went here for lunch today with a friend. Pub looked okay from the outside and we saw that it was a Greene King so thought that it should be quite good. Were we in for a surprise! The interior was old and shabby and we had to change where we sat because the chairs were also so old and uncomfortable that they weren't fit for purpose. The toilets were also in real need of a bit of TLC. However, the menu choices looked okay and so we decided to order a tuna and cheese melt panini each with a portion of 'handcut' chips as a side order. While we were waiting for our meal to arrive, I jokingly said to my friend that although the pub was a bit of a dump "the meal should be okay because you can't do much wrong with a panini". Famous last words! When the meal arrived, the chips were soft and a darkish brown in colour and tasted as though they'd been recooked in stale fat. Really horrible. The paninis were actually small baguettes filled with tuna and sweetcorn mayo with a bit of grated cheese added that hadn't even melted. So much for the tuna melt!

I love the steaks here so much, I advised my other two friends to have steak and they said they were the best! Rare is rare Such a great atmosphere in The Red Cow, Paul & Terri do a terrific job of making you feel at home and the service is fab.

Sat outside as a birthday coincided with a warm day. Lovely play area with good food and very friendly and efficient staff. You could sit inside as well.

Fresh, accomodating and really tasty food! You can't sit in this place without smelling the food and not wanting order something! Incredible service and friendly staff. You can't beat it for atmosphere, especially on Sundays where there's often casual live music.

Fantastic meal tonight. We had the mixed grill and a fillet steak, as well as 2 glasses of delicious Malbec for £30. The mixed grill was mahooosive with the ribs being easily the best bit. Not to say there was anything wrong with the steak, chicken, sausage, gammon, polenta, egg, cheese and salad that came with it!! I’m not one to go overboard with compliments but this was ridiculous value. My final comment is about the fillet steak; wow! Honestly, it’s lovely. Perfectly rare with a lovely caramelisation of the outside. This was my first meal at the Red Cow, having stolen food off friends plates previously. Well worth a visit. The menu could benefit from a steak and Ribs combo; but that’s just because I’m greedy!

WE stayed at the Bicester golf and spa hotel , which is lovely but would recommend coming here to eat . Fab food and the staff are very helpful. You are definitely made to feel welcome. Am planning a visit to come back!

10 if us visited today prior to a visit to RSPB Otmoor. Most of us had the roast lunch which was excellent, plenty of it and very tasty. Very reasonably priced too - thank you Red Cow.

Lovely lunch in a lovely country pub in a picturesque village. Good beer, Greene King, and service. Would thoroughly recommend.

We decided to try the pub as it had been a while. The staff were very friendly and engaging, the beer was fantastic and the food was excellent as well. A great way to start the Christmas festivities- we will return.

A charming country pub in a beautiful village, the staff were extremely accommodating and made us feel very welcome considering it’s our first time in the area we felt like locals! Wonderful selection of ales and the food menu offered something for everyone with the most vegetarian options I have seen in a village pub. Would highly recommend to anyone! Will definitely be coming back.

What a meal, This is a beautiful little pub and the food is amazing. The steak is perfect and the pizza, which is made from fresh hand made dough are the best I've ever tasted. The landlord and landlady are a Great and having visited this pub when it was under previous management I can see the hard work they have put in to bring this pub from where it was to where it is now. will definatly be returning. if you haven't visited this pub in the last 6 to 8 month than you need to go, you will not be disappointed if there was an option for 5+ star's than I'd be hitting that button.

My wife and I had a meal at this village pub on Halloween, the atmosphere was great the locals turned out in costume the pubs fully decorated but best was the food a great selection of starters but the main course served on a large circular bread board and and the quality and quantity was exceptional, I would vote this the best pub meal ever, if you book a table do not have any thing to eat all day. You will not be disappointed.

I was given very individual attention and, being vegetarian with a nut allergy, I was especially grateful as eating out can be a nightmare. The landlord asked me what I liked to eat and suggested an omelette with roasted vegetables, with or without cheese. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and was reassured that the restaurant is nut free. Will definitely go again.

Only visited for a quick bite to eat and sat in the garden, but the pub seemed really nice and cosey (great for a winter day by the fire) the food was reasonably priced and the burger we had was very good, would definitely go back and try for roast or an evening meal

A lot on offer, portion sizes are excellent, really tasty food and hospitality very good. Will definitely go back for more and would recommend a visit.

Dropped in here for a meet up with family. The Publicans could not have been nicer and met our every demand. When we eventually made up our minds what to choose of the standard menu or specials board we were delighted with the standard of food that arrived. Good size portions, well presented and hot. Most of our party had one of the three roasts that were on offer but I went for one of the specials which was excellent. Small but satisfactory choice of wines at sensible prices. After three enjoyable hours we had to sadly move on but we could have stayed all night. Great service and made to feel very welcome. We will be back soon.

Had a fantastic time from time arrived to time we left! Birthday Lunch and was spoilt rotten by the staff! Nothing was too much trouble, good service, fabulous food! Would definitely recommend and go again!
