Today, I had lunch at Beefeater, and it was the worst experience I’ve had in all my years in the UK. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:50, and there weren’t many customers inside. We placed our order at 12:55, but by 13:30, our food still hadn’t arrived. I even noticed that customers who ordered after us had already received their meals. So, I asked one of the waitresses about it, and she said she would check for me. However, after checking, she never came back to update me. A while later, a chef—who had nothing to do with the situation—came over to apologize and told us that the waitress had completely forgotten to place our order. The restaurant was filled with a heavy smell of cooking oil, and we had already sat there for 40 minutes breathing it in, only to be told that our order was never placed! When we decided to leave, we asked the waitress who took our order what had happened. She mumbled something unclear with a disrespectful attitude. Meanwhile, the other waitress—the one who said she would check for us—made an impatient gesture, essentially shooing us away and urging us to leave. Is this how this restaurant’s staff treats its customers? When a mistake is made, they should take responsibility and apologize properly, not make excuses or send a chef to explain on their behalf. And when questioned about making us wait so long for nothing, they should at least provide an explanation instead of acting arrogantly! I will never go there again!

We went in the late afternoon last weekend with our two small children. It took 30 minutes for staff to even take our order and after an hour and a half the starters arrived cold. We could see that the food had been waiting on the pass for about half an hour before it was served to us so we sent it back. By this point our children were getting tired and irritable so we decided to give up on the meal and get a takeaway on the way back instead. Safe to say we won't be going back again.

We sat down for our evening meal and we were looked after by a very friendly person called Maddie. She was excellent and attentive and we were all so impressed with her memory as she did not need to write down anything and the 4 of us ordered starters and mains. Everything arrived as ordered. Very disappointing food was cold staff are rude and a lack of staff is a problem. just updating my review for a beefeater kidlington. Yesterday 2/3/25 has been the 5th time we have been turned away. Each time it's a silly excuse. Like you have to be staying at the hotel or they have an event etc . But never any signs to back this up. AND WE ARE STILL PAYING CUSTOMERS! We are now officially done with this branch. I honestly don't have a nice thing to say about this branch always issues or excuses. I will spend your money elsewhere.

Quite a nice atmosphere at this place and the service is good but WHAT a rip off. Portion sizes are small , I ordered a side of garlic king prawns for £5........TWO prawns arrived. Yes . TWO. Sort it out Beefeater. This is taking the piss. Luckily we had a 40% off voucher. I will not be eating here again unless I have a money off voucher. This is why you're having to send these out. Successful places don't need to. Stop being stingy and load those plates up. You're feeding hungry adults not small children.

My partner and I made a reservation here last night . the whole experience from the start was shocking.we arrived in the foyer five minutes before our reservation time. waited about three minutes to be seen . the waitress could not find our booking on the computer. so she gave us two menu.s and asked us to sit over there pointing to the end of the bar until she cleared a table this area had about a dozen empty tables BUT every table was full with empty glasses. we sat down at a table that had two empty pint glasses. we waited 25 minutes then i went to the reception stand to find out what was happening. we were met by a different young lady. and again we were asked to wait. After about 5 minutes she came over and asked us to follow her to a table that was prepared for us we sat down and waited patiently . watching what was going on . I must say from where we were sat it was like a comedy show watching the staff. The restaurant was 50% full .the other 50% was full with dirty glasses and dirty plates. the bar was stacked with dirty glasses and a young girl with an overcoat trying to to the wash up . there was a chap with a beard who didnt seem to have a clue what was going on he kept asking the young girl questions . rhere was a coloured chap standing with arms folded with his back to the bar. i could hear the table next to me complaining about the place. well we were here at this table for another 25 minutes . it was very clear to us that the two working restaurant ladies were under extreme pressure and look so disorganised its a shame as Whitbread are normally good. We were left with no option but to leave . we waited a total of 55 minutes this is completely unacceptable.we were seen as we left by the two young ladies who were serving in the restaurant no words were exchanged This was i must say the worst experience that i have ever had to put up with in my entire life A very unhappy customer

Visited this evening . For a bite to eat with the kids. Although I’m not expecting blistering food as it’s cheap and cheerful . We were served stone cold starters sat under lights for at least 15 minutes whilst the restaurant was pretty much empty . The mains were served at the same standard. After complaining to the waiter/waiters who were absolutely brilliant . I asked him to try some of the food to which he did and he was very embarrassed. The young lads working in the kitchen showed a careless attitude and quite frankly if you cannot even get chips right you are really in the wrong job . Overall the food experience was actually a minus score but the service and the attitude of the serving staff was brilliant . Management need to actually recruit kitchen staff that can actually use a deep fryer and a hot griddle that’s all it takes .

Crap food nothing available lies about opening and closing times just terrible all round avoid go somewhere else. This is the 3rd time going don’t know why I keep giving them a chance but not again paid for breakfast and all they has was sausage bacon and beans no vegetarian options staff do not seam to care no apologies not discount even though over have the things weren’t available just a badly run place I’ve been to other beefeaters and never had a problem just avoid this one if I was you. And that’s just this visit other visits have been much worse.

Shambles. There was only one cook and only one member of staff front of house. Coffee machine was broken. Hardly any food in the hot plates. No mushrooms at all, no tomatos at all no black pudding. No veggie bacon or sausages. But still had to pay the full amout. Not the first time here and it was just the same so not a one off. Wasn't even very busy, the food we did have was nice.

Wow, where do I start… LOOK, we visit Premier Inn’s and Beefeaters all over the country. This one, has huge challenges which management must get on top of. We arrived to see a sign on the door saying they were facing operational difficulties. Staff explained to us that these operational challenges are both staff and stock shortages. These was hardly any lager or drinks available. We didn’t bother eating here as it was clear the place is struggling, so we ate elsewhere. We returned at 9.30pm for a drink and the bar was three deep with one member of staff serving. I felt extremely sorry for the staff, who were trying there absolute best under ridiculously difficult circumstances. We were then told because of stock and lack of staff, last orders were at 9.45pm and they are closing early at 10pm. The place was a tip with dirty plates and glasses everywhere. Honestly, an utter shambles. We didn’t bother having breakfast as there was little point seeing what was going on. Reading the reviews below, it’s clear that this isn’t a new issue - It’s been going on for months. If you can’t provide customers with the usual high Beefeater standard, just close the place down. It’s not fit for purpose, and the consistent 1 star reviews show this place just isn’t working.

came in for a roast on a sunday and booked table for 1.15. got seated and waiter served us drinks. got told most steak dishes were unavailable. ordered our food and waited around 30 minutes for 4 dishes and 3 sides. we ordered 3 chicken burgers and 1 mix grill. on one of the chicken burgers we didn’t want tomato we clearly stated it to the waiter but our chicken burgers came ALL without tomato. we upgraded our chicken burgers with LOADED SKIN ON FRIES but we got french fries with small bit of cheese. not what we asked for. we ordered our sides to come with our mains this did NOT happen either. our bbq sauce was missing out of burger as well as SKIN on fries. everything came out cold. are chicken burgers was sat on the hot plate for at least 20 mins before getting served to us. the place wasn’t even busy there was only TWO tables taken up. i think she was the manager, came up to us to try and persuade us to re order and try and fix the problems but then we have got to wait another hour again for something we didn’t do wrong? we asked what’s the excuse for all these problems to happen when you only have 2 tables that are taken her excuse was “the chefs are new”. HOW can you mess up all of those things when it it literally CLEARLY stated on the menu all the stuff that is in it?????? and why is there no one in there helping them? they had no proper explanation to all of our problems. we refused to pay as this is unacceptable. it was UNEDIBLE. not happy with this. we have came to this place like 3 times and every time they mess up something or there is always a problem. staff were looking very miserable during the WHOLE time. looked unprofessional and dirty. the manager said she doesn’t know how it all happened NOT a good enough excuse. DONT come here if you want to leave hungry and angry.

Avoid at all costs. This place has had deep rooted management and staff issues for years not months. Visited in July 2023 and July 2024... Same issues. Closing with little notice, staff quitting, menu items unavailable. As others have said, Beefeater should invest in staff and the food offer, or just close it. To limp on just makes things painful for everyone.

Booked well in advance for a special Christmas meal with my son only to be told there was no Christmas menu. Even though people who ordered after me had the Christmas menu so I wasn't impressed with that. Had to tell the waitress 3 times my order as she couldn't be bothered to write it down. We arrived and were seated quite quickly, but then waited 20 minutes for a waiter to come over and take our drinks order… we ordered drinks and 5 minutes later the waiter came over and said they do not have it available. Us thinking that’s fine, we said our second choice, and again, did not have this either!!! It was so limited in what we could have both food and drink which isn’t a great start to a meal (when we always look at menus beforehand to choose!) we ended up ordering a chicken burger and the bbq chicken melt. Which to be honest we’re quite dry and not the best! (We have had this at other beefeaters and no where near as good… we have always had amazing meals at various beefeaters, but not this one) all the waiters/waitresses were just standing chatting, which although it was not busy, just doesn’t seem professional. And to top the meal off, for £3.99 we got 2 mini cocktail sausages with a tiny bit of bacon on top as pigs in blankets, and although it said with cranberry sauce, we got ketchup! Only thing that made it worth it was a Black Friday deal of 50% off mains. I would not recommend this beefeater at all although will not put me off going where I have had great food before. Though a lovely atmosphere inside, just a shame about everything else.

Getting to be extremely problematic when you arrive for lunch to be told that they are not serving as they do not have a chef! Send a msg to ALL that have given their email so they don't front up and expect to eat. This is not the first time. Try keeping hold of staff or shutting the restaurant....not difficult! Don't send members offers that can't be "cashed in"

I sincerely believe that it is the worst service I have received in my entire life, and it was not for me, but for my daughters. It took 51 minutes to serve us two "fryer" children's menus: some nuggets, potatoes, frozen peas and some pieces of carrot and raw pepper. 51 minutes. As if that were not enough, for dessert we ordered two vanilla ice creams included in the menu and they gave us two strawberries and cream. In addition to different sizes between them, can someone explain it to me?

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it, I visited as a hotel guest repeatedly and I was only confirmed that it is not only about individuals. I have always received my food within 50 minutes after ordering. So the first day I spent more than 3.5 hours in the restaurant because the portion was disappointing. The steak (or rather a thin slice of about 5 mm) from the tenderloin should have been medium but it was completely dry :( 4 chicken "strips" and again an hour of waiting and the highlight was waiting for the cheese cake. If you don't order everything you want right at the beginning, no one cares about you don't mind the look. Don't expect anyone to try to sell you another drink. The next day, the same thing. Some guests got beef burgers instead of chicken. The overall impression was not improved by the condition of the dish (stale arugula), a portion of fries, an unnecessary amount of dip on the ribs, an extra dip in the bowl in which the fries were bathed (and the question if I want more immediately while serving?) and not at all the constant sounds of machines from the kitchen, which give the impression that you are in McDonald's. Oh, and don't try it after 6 in the evening! It looked very promising at first glance.

Arrived on time for our booking. Was told that all of the tables were full and would take 20-30mins to be seated so we were directed to the bar. Even though we had a reservation that they couldn't provide for, they didn't even offer a free drink. The attitude was pretty offhandish, as in—that's the way it is so just deal with it or go home. When they called our name, they got the name wrong, and it wasn't even one of the more common mistakes that I've heard before. They took our drink order and was promptly told they didn't do what I ordered: coke and a water. After some back and forth, we eventually got it sorted out, but I can't help but feel that the server was just not listening. As we were waiting more than 10 minutes to get our drinks and have our food order taken, we watched the staff continue to walk past about 10 finished plates of food, ready to be taken to the tables, all in favour of cleaning more tables, serving drinks and washing dishes. The dishes were probably there for at least 8 minutes before the kitchen staff got fed up and delivered the food themselves. The food was passable at best. Nothing to write home about. It took another eight or so minutes before someone finally came close enough to ask for the bill. Frankly, I am disgusted at the service received here. I can't fault the kitchen staff, as the food was prepared quickly. But the others... I've seen better and faster working monkeys than the staff here. The only saving grace for them was that they didn't have the gall to include a service charge as part of the bill.

We went to the Beefeater Kidlington on Saturday evening, and had a lovely time as usual. It has plenty of parking, an extensive menu, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We would like to single out Shannon who looked after us really well. We have had her as our server many times before, and she is so attentive and welcoming. She always remembers us, and it makes our visit if she is on duty

I was hopeful of enjoying this restaurant as a nostalgic blast from the past!!! No such luck!!! Booked lunch for one o’clock (1 hour after they open) my husband ordered the beef, it was finished……an hour after starting????? He had the lamb instead with sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. I ordered half rack of ribs with chicken wings, I got half rack of ribs either chicken breast. When I said this to the waiter he just shrugged and said I’ll get you a side of chicken wings, I declined especially after looking at how dry the food on my plate was. Husband said land was cooked well, the roast potatoes were ok, but the cauliflower cheese was dry and tasteless and so were the pigs in blankets. My ribs were dry and with little barbecue sauce, my chicken could have soled a shoe, it was like leather! I said this to the server and he said “I’m sorry!” I did ask for the ribs and chicken to be wrapped up for our dog. Strangely the server said as he delivered a small package of this, “we cannot be responsible for the food after it has left the restaurant?🤣🤣🤣I was so tempted to say, “but you’re happy to be responsible for the poor food you serve here?” But I didn’t. The only pleasant things were a nice glass of Pinot Grigio, the chips and a cappuccino my husband had. Otherwise a very poor show indeed!

Visited while staying at the Premier Inn. I was with someone with access needs which were completely accommodated. They even removed a chair so there was space for a walker. Rebekah was our waitress and she was fantastic. She was welcoming, genuine and extremely helpful. Food was tasty and came in a timely manner. Thanks guys!

My daughter and I came in for some dinner as we are staying at the premier inn for a wedding. I am gluten intolerant and the manager provided a gluten free menu. The couple on the next table said the same and they wont ever go back and they should get 'happy staff'. Two of us chose the 2 course evening menu for under £20 each, which although didn’t give much choice was adequate for what we wanted. From previous experience here slow service has only ever been an issue when the restaurant was packed. However, with only a dozen or so people here you shouldn’t expect two meals to take well over an hour from ordering to being served up. We then had to wait another half an hour for a couple of simpler puddings to arrive, so can only assume it was kitchen staff being very slow.

Took my son for his 21st Birthday with the rest of the family. Thought we would have a nice meal out. The manager was the most ignorant man I have ever spoken to in my life and was extremely rude. There was one guy in the kitchen who if he walked any slower he would be walking backwards. We had a table booked at 7.00 p.m. and were still waiting for mains at 8.30 p.m. There were two other tables in there so they were far from busy! Absolutely appalling. In fact the only decent members of staff was the guy behind the bar and the guy waiting our table. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs.

I booked online because we wanted a Sunday roast. We got there and there was only 2 server's and 1 behind the bar, they were quite busy. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated, the man just asked had we booked then walked away with 4 menus, dropped the menus on the table said I'll be back to take your drinks order then walked away. We knew what food we wanted so didn't look through the menu. We waited about 15 minutes to get our order took, in this time lots of people left, when we said we are all going for the roast we were then told they aren't doing any because of the company cutbacks and mumbled lot's of other things without looking at us, he took our drinks order and said he would be back to take our food order 20 minutes later we asked for attention, the lady Samantha was really nice and polite, she took our order and was really friendly even though she was run off her feet. We finally got our drinks 3 cokes and 1 cider after 25 minutes, the bar man who was clearing tables but we still expected them quicker. The food was excellent even though it wasn't what we went there for. After we had the main meal we asked the man for the desert menu and coke, 25 minutes later we were asking Samantha for the desert menu and where was the coke, The desert was really nice and the coffee was nice. While we had desert another couple arrived they got the same treatment as us, they were put by the door, about 10 minutes later they asked him to move them, he did his charge off to another table and wait for them. He just about said thank you to some of the customers. Turns out he was the manager of the place, the barman couldn't look anymore fed-up if he tried and Samantha was keeping the smile, politeness and a laugh for them all. They even had Premier Inn staff come to clean tables. I have worked in hospitality for many years and I know what busy and short staffed is but it was nowhere near what I call very busy and just a few words on entering about not doing roast dinners would of helped immensely.

I had a meal here last week and the food was amazing! highly recommend. however… there was one staff member called lewis (think he’s a manager) and his attitude towards his fellow staff members is disgusting and repulsive, screaming in staffs face and swearing. very unprofessional… i loved the service and food though

On entering the staff are very helpful and attentive. You don't have to be staying to use this facility which is a bonus if your in the area for a few hours with no where to go ( car service ) The food is OK but the full English ingredients are not steaming hot as its stored under heat lamps that keep it warm.

I've used the Beefeater Restaurant chain for many years, and whilst basic fare, there is a varies choice of menu, and the prices are reasonable, and they often do meal deals, so good value and competitive also. We again visited the Kidlington Beefeater as we were staying at the Premier Inn, next door. It was fairly busy, and the restaurant Manager was helpful and courteous when we arrived. However what really impressed us ( apart from the meal) was our waiter, Conner. A young man, who was extremely attentive to our needs, efficient quick and very polite, with a friendly smile at all times. As I have stated the restaurant was quite busy, but I noticed that he was equally good with the other tables, and was really working hard there. I do believe that this kind of attitude towards customers, should be noticed by Management, and perhaps rewarded. I do hope they manage to retain him, as people like him are hard to get, and though the meal was good, the added attentive service made it more enjoyable. Many Thanks

Mid afternoon meal so minimum staff . Although friendly, the service was really slow and the coffees never arrived. There were only 3 tables taken but we still waited some time for plates to be cleared and next course to be ordered. Drinks sat on bar for 15 minutes before arriving at the table. A shame, because the food was good

Food and service was good, but rather shocked to be told at 9.15pm, its last orders, we are closing at 9.30pm. I would estimate that there was at least 30 people in there drinking. Website states, closes at 11pm, obviously staff wanted to go home early, well who wants to work late on Fridays.

Stayed at the premier inn attached, so gave it a try, the staff we met were lovely, helpful and polite. The restaurant was clean, seemed fairly new, but the food was not brilliant , starter served cold, not nice when it was chips with cheese (referred to as loaded skins for some strange reason). The other starter I always like, super crunchy wings with hot sauce. The fish in the fish and chips came in soggy batter and was greyish in colour, not appealing, had a burger, just a burger and it was nothing to write home about. Was told by the staff that the restaurant would close soon to make more room for bedrooms, perhaps that’s why restaurants associated with premier inns seem to be dropping their standards🤔🤔

Rudeness from the staff straight from the off. The concierge told me I was a bit too early for my table. Nine minutes too early. I commented that it was only nine minutes. He asked if there was a problem and if there was I could go elsewhere as he’s really busy. I almost laughed at his rude approach. He asked if I had had a bad day. Absolutely off the scale. I hope my food isn’t tampered with.

Extremely slow and poor service, waited 45 mins between main and having to ask for desert menu. In the end we decided to leave after having waiting an hour between corses with 2 small children. With only us, and 2 other tables in the restaurant to serve I felt this was unacceptable.

We found this Beefeater restaurant a few weeks ago. That time we had a very pleasant Sunday lunch there but it was crowded and noisy on that day. Finding ourselves once again in Kidlington today, and not having had lunch, we decided to try the same venue again, hoping it would be less busy and quieter. We hadn't booked and walked in to an almost deserted restaurant. We were immediately shown a table for two, given menus, and the waiter returned a few minutes later for our drinks order. We ordered starters of soup and breaded mushrooms. Both dishes were excellent and arrived quickly. My Wife had a main course of steak & ale pie with chunky chips. I had the rack of ribs with chips and a honey & mustard sauce. I'd had the ribs before in a Beefeater. This time I found them a little too chargrilled but they were still edible. The portions were very large. It is the first time, when dining out, that neither of us had room for a dessert. As we ate the restaurant filled up and, by the time we paid the bill, it was about one third full. There were two groups having birthday meals and one, with several children, was a bit noisy. Not the restaurant's fault. Overall the food was OK and the service attentive. Much better than at another Beefeater we've recently visited. We will be returning to the Kidlington branch in the future.

It was absolutely amazing. Even tho there was only 1 chef and numerous rude customers, the staff were incredible, always smiling and helpful, and running the floor and bar like true professionals. Cannot wait to see you all again xx Just got back from yet another feast at beefeater kidlington, and once again, it didn't disappoint!! This is a really nice restaurant. The staff were really friendly and the food came reasonably quick. The only reason I am giving four stars rather than 5 is that there was some chewing gum stuck under the table which is not very pleasant on a table that you are going to eat a meal at. Apart from that it was very clean and tidy, the food was warm and delicious. Would definitely come here again.

Chose The Easington as it has just had a refurb, looks nice inside as you should expect. Ordered drinks followed by the food shortly after. The food arrived 25-30mins later, the signature beef pie was very good with meat in it (have had some with hardly any inside), no carrots were served and asked why they hadn't had delivery, should of been told when ordering. The beer was a good pint, staff were friendly. So would I go back again, I most probably would so yes.

The worst place we have ever stayed. Rooms were filthy - we had to move rooms because our shower did not work and looked like it was about 50 years old! Nothing felt clean in the room. The cracks in the walls were taped up and painted over. Breakfast was very standard, porridge pots from Tesco!! Couldn’t wait to leave in the morning! Please don’t waste your money and stay here! We have requested a refund but no-one ever comes back to us!
