The Easington in Cherwell

Had a lovely meal yesterday in The Easington. The new managers where very friendly and welcoming. The food was perfect as well!

Lovely to receive a warm welcome from Steve unlike his predecessor. Great to see the pub extremely busy. Keep up the good work!

We have recently moved to the area and this is now our local pub as it’s such a lovely environment. Food is good and very reasonable in price. Drinks are varied with superb deals such as wine club. Staff are very accommodating and never had any complaints, always so friendly and polite. We have brought friends and family here since moving and look forward to many more visits.

Very hot and miss. Was a hit this time. Good food and good service from a young man. The woman running around the place was very rude. Also didn't know how to smile.

Always liked this place. Clean, friendly, big inside and out. Some very good deals on food. The only gripe is the system can not cope with more than one deal. For example, if you have an in-house deal, it may ignore other coupons.

Tables and menus weren't clean, sticky in sweet drinks, lounges were ripped. Total impression - messy. On the other hand christmas decorations and lights made it cosy. Soup was disgusting though

I have never once had a bad meal or experience at the Easington. The food is always fantastic, the service is always A1 and the prices are more than reasonable.

Booked last night i had burger and fries with onion rings the server brought the food over quick quickly. Not many people in at 7pm. When tasted the burger was burnt and very dry blacking places the onion rings were cremated. When the same server came back to ask about the meal I asked should this meal had left the kitchen ge replied no it shouldn't . So why then did he serve this meal to me .then offered a desert really. I should have been offered a full refund as the meal was,appalling and he,agreed No wonder it was empty, a little cafe could do alot better our bill came to£49. You should be ashamed of yourselves for serving this type of food

Waitress was very rude and had a terrible attitude. Burger was so overcooked and very underwhelming. Couldn’t even complain to a manager because they don’t have one! Only received 2 stars for the sweet chilli chicken wings which were good.

The table was reserved for us but not really pointed out to us on arrival. After ordering, the food arrived in reasonable time (though the pub wasn't that busy) however it was missing a part of our order which had to be pointed out and arrived half way through the meal. Sadly the pub furniture is starting to look shabby and tired. Worse, the gents toilet floor was awash and there was no warning outside the door. Not a good look for our visitors who had travelled from Devon to join us.

Visited for the first time today, what a lovely pub! If I could rate this more than 5* I would, food was absolutely lovely, the pub was nice and clean and the staff provided excellent service. Will be returning for sure, keep it up :)

I made a visit here for a meal yesterday afternoon and all I can say is I couldn't recommend this place higher......the food was FANTASTIC and the NATHEN who served us was nothing but attentive,polite, and extremely helpful to our needs.....I'll be back for sure

We attended the breakfast with santa... We was put on a tiny table that was more suitable for 2 people, not 3! We paid £10 each person, which was a bit steep. Considering adults breakfast was £8 something without santa "just sat there" and kids breakfast is £5. Expected a little more than a bag with 3 tiny pencils and few bits of paper to colour in for the gift from santa. Which my daughter never got from santa as a member of staff picked it up from santa and gave it to us. Santa literally just "sat" there, he didn't look like he enjoyed any second of it. Will not return. To top of this off, we ordered a pot of tea for two. I am lactose intolerant so asked for oat milk, they had some thankfully. But to my disgust, he couldn't open the bottle, then told me he thinks it's frozen. He forced his way into the carton, to then see it all crusty on top. He proceeded to just "scrap" the crust of the top into the bin with a knife he found on the side and then poured a jug of this disgusting oat milk that had clump all in it and gave it to me. If i had been stupid enough to put this into my tea I would have been seriously poorly. So I did not have any tea. We never complained on the day as I didn't want to spoil the 'magic' for our child.

The stake was over cocked when mentioned to the staff was removed from pib due to criticism towards the food received. Staff frendly but owners will decline criticism

Full English breakfast was lovely.

Joe was exceptional tonight. Gave us everything we wanted and even gave recommendations. Top bloke.

Staff lovely and food was really good, especially for the price. We had from the set menu, which was 2 courses for £9.99 and 3 courses for £11.99, definitely value for money.

Dog friendly on one side of the pub, food as to be expected in a chain pub (new menu has just come out), plenty of seating, nice big garden area, good selection of drinks and the staff are lovely. Most recently served by Ioan and Nathan, both great to talk to, very polite and hard working.

Came in with my sister. Met the wonderful Andrew who was super friendly, attentive and efficient. The halloumi fries were exceptional but would prefer a sweet chilli sauce. Would highly recommend to friends who want tasty, reasonably priced food. And always ask for Andrew!

Went for some food at the easington highly recommend the food can't complain about the food but went to use the salt on my food and it wouldn't come out the pot so tried multiple salt pot and no luck so opened one of the pots open and saw this as you can see the salt has been sat there for ages and has got thick and hard and sticks to the pot they was all like this so took it up to bar and asked for a new salt pot that don't do that and he said he will sort it out but never did bit gross the salt being like that very poor

Having a dietary problem I know I can be catered for at The Easington, but it also caters for the "burger brigade" too! Only negative. The toilets could do with a good clean/upgrade!

Pretty poor roast meal , choice of two meats , gammon very very fatty , chicken , very small drum stick no breast tasted weird. Veg undercooked, roast potatoes ok, stuffing with bacon wrapped , both undercooked and tasted cheap! Staff not at all welcoming , “have you booked “ as soon as we walked in . Then left us standing at the bar wondering what next ? Disappointed with what I spent and received , £40 for two people isn’t bad but the quality was very very poor. Cheap produced meals . Won’t return .

Came for lunch with friends from outside of Banbury. We chose the Easington because it’s usually a nice pub with decent food for lunch that’s not too expensive. Honestly, I won’t be coming back here for food again. Reserving the table online was easy - so that was great. Ordering using the QR code is also easy! We ordered roast beef for Sunday lunch and I think it might be the worst roast dinner I’ve ever eaten. Roast potatoes were clearly frozen aunt Bessie’s, beef was all FAT it was disgusting, veggies were rock solid. Barely any gravy. Ordered 3 sides (Dauphinoise Potatoes potatoes, cauliflower cheese and stuffing wrapped in bacon) again all mediocre. Cauliflower cheese was hot tasteless cheese sauce with raw crunchy cauliflower. Dauphinoise potatoes were overcooked. Only good part was the Yorkshire pudding… Expensive for what it was too! Paid £44 for two roast beef’s, 3 small sides and two soft drinks. Feel robbed to be honest 😅 I didn’t think you could go wrong with a roast dinner but clearly you can. Staff were lovely, offered polite and quick service though. Atmosphere was nice too. Should have chosen another pub to take our friends for lunch! Next time we’re looking for a roast Sunday lunch, we won’t be choosing easington. Such a shame as this used to be a really nice pub with great, tasty, affordable pub food. I’m afraid it’s now microwaved or frozen reheated slop :(

Staff were lovely & very accommodating dogs in the first area only, but that's fine we hadn't booked as my friend & I only decided 30 mins before it was early & the meals were quick & delicious plus the Bottle of Wine went down nicely aswell. The Menu had good choice plus it's nice to have a good Pub only 10mins walk away 👍 We had 3 courses & a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc so we found it all very good value.

Been several times lately and sat at any table of our choice with our dog, where very friendly young staff served us without incident. Thank you. I might point out that Easington Pub website actually states....'This local pub in Banbury is a great spot . We’re a dog friendly establishment too, so please feel free to bring your four-legged friends along.'.... HOWEVER, a certain rude, aggressive and confrontational female member of staff recently yelled like a fish wife across the pub as we entered the establishment on our last visit. Her shouting was to 'guide' us to one of only 2 tables she said were open to us as this was the only part of the pub where dogs were allowed. In hindsight, we should have left, but we didn't. Another table nearby became vacant and we made our way to it, when, once more, said nasty, rude staff member hollered at us saying we could not sit there. Her body language and facial expression being so nasty and unfriendly, confirmed that she is by no means fit for a customer focused role. When we politely queried this saying we'd never been excluded in other areas on prior visits, she yelled saying read the policy, it's on the wall before storming off! My husband did, in fact, do just that, going outside to read it, but there was no mention anywhere of only certain areas allowing dogs. Given that their own website states that it's 'a dog friendly establishment' with no mention of restricted areas of the pub, I wrote to Ember Inns allowing them the opportunity to respond, but the same "lady" wrote a curt reply repeating read the policy! So, as no satisfactory apology or indeed clarification of their dog policy was forthcoming, we are led to believe that you enter at your peril with a dog if 'she's' on duty. Such a shame because the younger, friendlier, more efficient staff on duty on our previous visits, deserve praise and due recognition for being - what I'm sure M&B Ember Inns hope they have employed in their establishments - that being polite, delightful and welcoming front of house staff. Won't be returning and nor will our friends and family until "policy" and aggressive staff are addressed. Plenty more pubs we can spend our money in without being 'barked at'.

Hi all, unfortunately I haven't spent much time in the pub itself but what I have seen regarding service, atmosphere and food I can easily say... if you are in Banbury, please don't miss this one. I did, don't be me.

This is my learning disabled brother's local. So we often visit for a drink or to take him for a meal. I just wanted to say how wonderful the staff are. So kind, patient and welcoming. Food and value for money all good, but the main reason we go back is the kindness of the staff and actually the customers too. A very inclusive and lovely pub.

Food and service were great especially using the chain app. Very quiet, no background music at the time of visit. A couple of item not available.

Big rear garden, plenty of seating. Good range of beers at reasonable prices. Not tried the food yet. The pub is not a place you would take someone for a romantic date. Plenty of parking.

Was in there today the food was horrible. I ordered a pint and when it was finished noticed dirt stuck to the bottom of the glass told them bout it and answer was they couldn't do notting about it. I'll never use this pub again to dirty

We visited The Easington as Banbury is about half way between where I live, and where my family live. It can be hard to find a place to accommodate two vegans and two large dogs but The Easington ticked all of our boxes and we were seated in a lovely chalet in the garden area. The food arrived quickly, and it was very well priced. There was something for everyone in our party and we were given water for our dogs. We used a mixture of bar and app to table service and experienced no issues with either. Staff were very attentive and made sure that we were well taken care of. I would definitely recommend The Easington to others and we will look to return at our next family gathering. We experienced no issues with our visit and the pace of the experience was perfect. Highlights for us were the seating area outside, the staff, and the cheesecake. As two vegans we have tried a lot of vegan cheesecakes and this was one of the best we had. Please pass on this feedback to your staff, they have provided us with an outstanding service and would like for their efforts to be recognised by Ember Inns.

We enjoyed a superb vegetarian English breakfast at The Easington. The meal was beautifully prepared, with a delightful variety of fresh, flavorful ingredients. The portion sizes were generous and every item was cooked to perfection. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for a delicious and satisfying vegetarian breakfast experience!

Visited as a group several times, when visiting the local area. Always a place we will return to due to the excellent food, service. Comfortabale, welcoming atmospere. Highly recommended and will return again.

First time visiting and very disappointed... Waited ages for food, the kids eat for £1 is a con... We were told we're better off just paying... Kids starters came out, adults hadn't ordered starters but we had to sit for ages... Just bring kids starters out with mains all in one go.... We ended up in the pub for 2.5 hours... Dreadful
