Great food at a reasonable price

Every aspect of our visit met all expectations as it has for the past 6 maths. Well done all at Barley Mow.

We all enjoyed our meals, I had a mixed grill, others had gammon steaks and a scampi, all of which turned up well prepared, and presented and served hot! Since the barley mow has changed managers the food has been very good, and the bar service was okay and I think when it is busy they should put more staff behind the bar! I must admit that the staff are very cheerful, polite and friendly to their customers, so they should be praised for their hard work and service to their customers! We did notice that the furniture needs updating as some seats were a bit tatty to the extent they could do with a refurbishment! Otherwise the pub is a great place to go for meals and a nice drink with your friends! Glad to see that the pub is on the way up, so well done to the management and staff.

Great pub and the staff members are kind and friendly. Only thing would be the chalets need a bit off work doing to them, ie the step and the lighting. But apart from that it’s a good pub

After a few bad experiences in the past we took a chance and booked a meal for my husbands 50th for 19 people. Can honestly say the staff went above and beyond the food was amazing the service was faultless and the banoffee cheese cake was out of this world!!

Our meals came out at different times means some had nearly finished before we got ours. Food wasn’t the greatest. Grilled chicken was tough and couldn’t get through it. The waitress was moody. Didn’t even crack a smile. Short brown bobbed hair with glasses. The ashtrays were over flowing to.

Bought two half Peroni lagers and it come to £8.20. Absolutely disgusting. Another pub ripping the general public off. Never again

The food took 90 mins to arrive , two out of 4 meals were disgusting , we got refunded , worst meal I’ve had there

We went yesterday as a last minute booking of 14 people. Food was great all within good time and the staff were all so lovely. Don't let the negative reviews put you off.

Is this the best pub in Banbury for food , drink, and value for money?…the answer is a resounding YES…on all counts! The staff are excellent …. always polite and professional……a special mention for Danny and Tracey….both excellent! I thoroughly recommend this pub…fantastic value for money and great food!….you won’t be disappointed. Well done guys! Chris

Yet another bad review for The Barley Mow. A heads up for anyone that has bookings. We wish we had taken note of the recent bad reviews and cancelled and booked elsewhere, but we never used to have a problem and it was my autistic sons 18th birthday and he chose where he wanted to go. We booked for 14 of us, they asked for a pre order which we emailed over 2 weeks ago. Last week I popped in for a drink and asked if they had it and they couldn't find it on the system so I gave it to them again & paid a deposit and they showed me the spreadsheet with the pre order ready to forward to the kitchen and assured me it would all be ready for us so we could eat shortly after we arrived as we had young children with us. We turned up today and after 20 minutes of us being sat waiting they decided to tell us they didn't have our pre order. Eventually started to receive our food almost 1.5 hours after arriving. 5 meals got sent back as they were wrong. The first person to have their meal had finished 20 minutes before the last person got theirs. One of the kids meals was so cremated it was barely edible, but after waiting nearly 2 hours for her meal my 2 year old granddaughter wasn't keen on waiting for them to re cook it! The organisation is horrific and really put a downer on our experience. I asked to speak to the manager to be told she was too busy to speak to us as she was cooking, so we had to communicate with her through another member of staff because she was clearly too ashamed to show her face after the disastrous service received. The staff we spoke to were lovely & did the best they could do to sort things out for us so l would like to say thank you to those. We were eventually told that we could have a whole 20% off the bill for our troubles. If we wanted or thought we were due anymore we'd have to contact head office as they were unable to authorise anymore in house. My son was distressed half an hour in because of the lack of organisation and didn't enjoy his birthday lunch. Not to mention the stress caused my FND to flare up and I ended up having a seizure before the food had come out.

Had a meal here yesterday. Very happy with the service, nice food, big portions, efficient hard working staff and a friendly atmosphere. Would come back without hesitation.

Was quite disappointed really the food was edible but would say very bland and and the sizzling pale ended up burning the food, would be honest would say was made by a trainee chef

Booked a table in the morning of 5th April for a table of 12 wasn't even sorted out when we arrived at 6:30, the service and the staff was horrible saying they didn't have the right food items,then saw them coming out for other eaters ,the attitude on the staff was disgusting and becuase we did it in 3 separate transactions the food came out In 45 minutes intervals overall bad service, wouldn't recomend

This place is a hidden treasure in Banbury. Food is always fresh, with big portions and tasty. Never had a bad meal here.

Staff nice and welcoming. Food reasonably priced. For a large table of 7 adults and 1 child eating. The food came out all together and tasted really nice. Would go back again.

Dinner and drinks for 4 Peeps. The app unfortunately changed our booking from 4 to 2 people. However the staff were apologetic and sorted the misunderstanding. We had 2 Mega Grills, Pork Belly n Ribs and a Old Faithfull Burger. Really yummy and didn't wait to long. (Bit stinge with the chips on the mega grill, but I am supposed to be dieting) Price was reasonable, atmosphere with a nice level of noise. And really friendly staff

Yesterday about 2pm we had family meal out for change , the service was very nice served by Tracey and the food was delicious and beautiful presented by Kallum and Tracey . team looked after us very well . Definitely will come back to create more memories. We were in perfect seating to watch Italy vs England Rugby match be going of the Six nations .

Great experience. Good tunes, cold beer & they had the footy on. The waitress Karmen was really friendly - made sure we had everything we needed. The barman Kyle was also great. Will pop in again if I’m this side of town.

Well I’ve been to few Sizzler restaurants in the past, but the difference on food quality , service, miles better then past experience, happy staff, friendly, helpful, and food hot , cooked to perfection, will recommend.

Popped in for Friday lunch and was completely blown away! Myself and husband have never visited before but we wish we had come sooner! The food sizes were very large we both struggled to finish! Prices very competitive and amazing value for money! Very happy with how our food was cooked and presentation was even nice! Will be returning soon! Very happy customers!

The food has improved but I was disappointed with the fact that after being offered 25% off when I went to use it on my £150 bill I was told that on the small print it was only available Monday-Friday this should have been made clear on the email to me telling me I had 25% off

This place is going downhill faster than the British ski team The staff have no manners, the food is subpar, when we went the bar had no draught drinks due to some stuff of gas leak probably a excuse to sell overpriced bottle drinks Tried to order a flavoured coffee got told they only had one syrup (winter spice) Whats the point of offering coffee syrup if you don't stock them DONT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT NICE FOOD AND SERVICE

We haven't been to the barley for 2 years I'd say after a few bad experiences. Well what a turn around ! Our food was lovely and the service was the best its ever been ! With 3 kids under 7 we are a bit of a handful but have to say everything was very tasty and very good value especially after a expensive x mas and new year ! We will be back and be telling friends and family that it's well worth a visit again !

Absolutely cracking evening tonight. Staff were Absolutely class, prices are a bloody bargain and the food was brilliant. I have no issues at all, can't fault anything. All Absolutely gorgeous.

This is a fantastic place for lunch - we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were given a warm welcome and had a fantastic time. Top marks to the staff - happy, helpful and full of smiles and genuine warmth. The menu is great - lots of choice - and the food itself is outstanding value. We had a dog with us, and they couldn’t make her more welcome - with water bowls and lots of cuddles! I’d also give a shoutout to the general atmosphere. It’s always a good sign when other customers are enjoying themselves. This was a 10/10 stop for us… and we will be back!

Came just for a spot of breakfast and walked in to the barley mow and wow the customer service was amazing fully booked but managed to find us a table the children got chocolates and colouring books and breakfast with the Grinshill absolutely amazing 👏 Thank you

Having eaten here 10 months ago for the first time (and given a possitive review?) my wife and I decided whilst in Banbury we would pay another visit. When the food finally arrived We played a fascinating game of guess the meat, neither of us would've guessed it started it's life as a chick, i have shared a bath with less rubbery birds (quack quack) We spent the whole meal looking around for Ant and Dec, convinced we were in the middle of a bush Tucker trial. The fact no staff member came to ask if the food was OK leads me to assume they know how bad it was. Certainly shan't be returning unless we suddenly get the urge to chow down on incinerated road kill

Food was lovely, my daughter tried the southern fried chicken starter and really enjoyed it. Food was hot, presented well and arrived in a timely manner. Drinks were cold and refreshing, cocktails were mixed to perfection by your bartender Kallum. Kallum also took our food order and all of our awkard changes were noted correctly by him and followed through by the kitchen team. Staff were lovely and friendly, very welcoming, as was the ambience of the venue. We will be making it a regular family trip.

Went on a Sunday at around peak time for eating around lunch, slight negative was long wait but food was very good, great improvement from previous management when I had been dining there before. 4 out of 5.

It was brilliant but chaotic.. we were stood at the bar for a while and then left standing there when it was time to pay as they didn't check to see if the payment had gone through so I was stood waiting for about half an hour but luckily I was having a drink at the bar it was just frustrating more than anything but everything else was amazing and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food

2nd visit out of many more! When they first brought out the steak,it wasn’t right and they immediately fixed it! Super happy with the service and food. Lad on the bar who served us was a gem, and the waitess was lovely and polite. Again a lovely place ,will definitely be coming here again.

I need to revisit this place because it was full of customers and I was not able to get a place at the table. This indicates that food here is very good and reasonably priced. Monday to Friday there is special offer for lunch time meals - 11 pounds for two.

We have been a few times recently after not entertaining this lovely pub for a number of years due to previously poor experiences, the previous time was a pleasant surprise but our latest visit for my Daughters 5th Birthday meal was frankly incredible! Atmosphere was very calm, staff were welcoming and interactive, food was incredible for the second time in a row, service was outstanding and the catering for my daughters dairy allergy was second to none! An additional mention for the effort the bar manager and chef made to give my daughter some additional fruit for dessert shaped in a 5 for her (not their fault but not much she can have sadly). She was so happy and the fuss they made for her really made her special day end on a massive high! Would highly recommend and so pleased to see such a great pub come back from some previous very low lows! Will recommend once again!

We have recently moved to hanwell fields. We tried our local pub, which was awful. So we thought we would try the next neatest pub. There wasn't much atmosphere. Tables left with plates and glasses on for ages with staff just walking past them. They weren't even that busy. The staff just seemed bored and uninterested. We had food, which was OK. Standard sizzler. It could be a great pub with the right management and staff.

Am a local and have been for a long time , no gents toilets for 2 weeks now , it’s a joke , management don’t seem to care , the brewery should be disgusted with them selves for allowing this ,

Stopped for quick lunch to break up a lengthy journey. Great welcome, very reasonable prices. Surf n turf, Mediterranean chicken both went down well. Lovely people.

We had a lunch which was the chicken tikka masala. It was the hottest curry I have ever tasted (I normally eat chicken madras so I’m not a curry virgin) it was full of chillis and to me inedible. My husband ate a little more than me but his eyes were watering with every mouthful. When we complained, the only reaction we received was “very sorry, I’ll let the kitchen know”. We left feeling very disappointed with the response we received. We would have at the very least expected a drink on the house. Shan’t be returning again.
