Great food well worth a visit. Staff made you feel very welcome. Prices were fair. Clean and tidy good atmosphere. Will definitely visit again..

Nice food i had Tandoori Chicken Skewer and hubby had a burger. Staff spillage was well managed and a replacement arrived soon. We were moved table to allow them to clear up. They don't offer a Sunday Roast though which seems strange to me.

Local pub that has a great atmosphere with the most amazing staff. Kallum is a gem especially!!

It's a 3 star because I am impressed with the portions and the staff, my dad ordered 3 drinks, could only carry 2 so the lady bought the 3rd one over for him and then offered our dog some water. I also liked their vegetarian options, it's not that there's alot of options but it's the only place I've seen do vegetarian ribs, I will have to try next time. The reason it's not 5 stars is because I was a little disappointed with my veggie burger. The burger itself has vegetables in the bun, this made the bread really soggy, I don't think anyone will mind a bit of normal salad. The other thing is the burger comes with different things compared to the chicken or beef burger, i was exited to have chips but it came with potatoe squares, they where good don't get me wrong, I just don't understand why it's different to the other burgers. Same with BBQ sauce.

Some of the bartenders aren't very friendly.

Greeting upon arrival was non-existent. We may as well have been invisible and there were not many people in there at all. Eventually, after some effort, we got some attention and were shown to our table. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The chairs were awful, old, worn, filling to seats coming out etc (see photo), the table needed cleaning (I did it myself) and food etc on the floor (and not just under this table) and menus dirty. Everything about it was simply YUK !!!! The actual table service once sat down was fine (to be fair the 'restaurant' was fairly empty so it should have been good) and, surprisingly, the food itself was fine for what it was (it’s a Sizzling pub so you know roughly what to expect and it won’t be fine dining, Gastro pub or anything remotely like that). Salt pots were ALL badly clogged up – we tried several from different tables and they were all the same so we took the top off and hand poured. We cleaned our own cutlery !!! Cheap & cheerful – unfortunately without the cheerful. Would I go here again ? No. Not based on this experience. It’s a Sizzling pub so no high expectations anyway but it should at least have been clean and welcoming. Which it absolutely was not.

For pub grub in Banbury, you really cant knock the Barley Mow. The food is good with a decent choice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. This has become our go to place when we need to take a break mid week and don't have time to cook.

Came here as a spur of the moment meal to celebrate son's graduation. 3 kids and 3 adults and the meals were fantastic! Reasonably priced, friendly staff working hard. Garden is nice for kids to have a little run around. Will come again

The food has improved so much, the staff are all lovely and the atmosphere is perfect. Took my family there for a meal, all the food was tasty and substantial and great value for money. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice, well priced pub lunch and chill. Menu choices are extensive and wait time isn't long for food. Garden seat aswell with lovely booths.

I reviewed this some time ago. My rating of it remains the same. I'm not a local, only visited six or seven times in last 8 or so years with quite long periods between visits, always for lunch. The consistency in quality carries on. It's good value, they do deals on the menu, the atmosphere is nice and the staff are very nice and amenable.

Very good value for money and will be going there a Again.

We used to visit the barley mow a lot in the past and the visit wasn't great! It wasn't just one isolated incident either. So we stopped visiting. But we decided to try again yesterday. What an absolute turn around! Where before we waited over an hour for our food, on not busy day. We waited 20 minutes. Where as before there wasn't the ingredients for our order, the food this time was complete and really tasty. The staff were lovely and nothing was to much trouble. We finished our meal and went outside leaving our drinks. Our server cleared our table and the drinks thinking we had left. We came back in and noticed. We told a member of staff behind the bar who apologised and gave us fresh drinks free of charge. All in all a lovely and satisfying visit. Definitely coming again

100% THIS WAS AT THE BARLEY MOW IN BANBURY! Ordered on the app, waited 40 minutes and hadn't even had our drinks. Surely from a business point of view, if you bring drinks over they might get drunk whilst waiting for food? Wasn't even busy so no idea how food takes over an hour to prepare? Then had to wait an extra 10 minutes for youngest child's mini pizza to come. Don't waste your time

Really amazing food and great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and really helpful. Specifically the waiter/bar staff by the name of Kallum, even with his arm in a sling, he still provided exceptional service. Definitely recommend this place.

Wow what an improvement, my last visit wasn't great but this one was amazing. If you have been before and it didn't live up to your expectations please give it another chance.

Amazing food, I would highly recommend this place

After calling up to check about bringing our dog with us and being told it was OK we booked a table for 9 people. When we arrived we were told we would have to sit in the bar area or outside, this wasn't told to us on the phone so we didn't bring coats with us. There was no tables big enough to accommodate 9 of us so we had to push 3 small table together and squeeze around it. Due to the fact there was a big pool table in the mddle of the bar ares we were squashed into a corner as to avoid being hit by the people playing pool. We ordered our food and it was brought out to us by a waitress who made us feel like she didn't want to serve us at all!! One of the orders wasn't correct but this was rectified. Whilst eating our dinner we never once had someone come and ask us how our meals where or if we were ok and we felt like we were just shoved in a corner and forgotten. We ordered desserts in 2 halves. The 2nd part of the order came out with in 10 minutes but the dinner plates on the table were not taken away and no cutlery was brought out with the desserts either. After a further 10 minutes the first lot of desserts that were ordered still hadn't come out. Upon enquiring where they were I was told, rather aggressively "they were being don't now". A further 10 minutes passed before they eventually arrived. Again the plates from our food were still on the table, to which we had to move them onto a near by bar table to allow us room to eat out desserts. Before we started we noticed a black hair in one of the desserts so this was not eaten and we didn't have time to request another dessert and there was no staff around to discuss this with. We spent over £100 on our food alone and the service was absolutely shocking!! I would not recommend the pub to anyone!!

Service was atrocious kept waiting for 35+ mins Mains was cold when arrived The sweet we were a group of 9 two groups ordering separately the first sweet ordered came after 30 minutes and there was a hair in the sweet could not eat it Very disappointing

Had a lovely visit, The staff were so friendly, such a great place for a family to visit.Two adults and three children all had mains and pudding. Food was great well presented and yummy.our waitress was fantastic, talking to the children and even gave them some colouring to do

Simple but delicious food … a welcome break on our journey!

Booked a table and when we arrived didn't have a table , did find us a table and we went to order and was told 45 mins for food 🤔 as we had two small children with us we left as it was 6pm at this time .Disappointed as I went the week before after giving the barley mow a wide berth of six months due to the shocking service and had a lovely meal the week before .I think we won't bother anymore as a bit hit and miss 😕

I will not be back. Enough said.

Second time happening that the kitchen is closing time changes whenever they like, last time kitchen was closing at 21:00, this time is closing at 20:30 such a disappointment from the service second time, there is no exactly close time whenever they want to close, I did asked for the manager they said she is on Holiday, so Dear Manager, I think you have to stay around more often as without you here the service is going down, and one more advice please put clear sign what time is the kitchen closing...... I AM VERY DISAPPOINTMENT SECOND TIME BELIEVE NOT GONA HAPPEN THIRD......

Great pub and great staff. The only thing would be would the chalets steps and the lights not working apart from that great pub

We all enjoyed our meals, I had a mixed grill, others had gammon steaks and a scampi, all of which turned up well prepared, and presented and served hot! Since the barley mow has changed managers the food has been very good, and the bar service was okay and I think when it is busy they should put more staff behind the bar! I must admit that the staff are very cheerful, polite and friendly to their customers, so they should be praised for their hard work and service to their customers! We did notice that the furniture needs updating as some seats were a bit tatty to the extent they could do with a refurbishment! Otherwise the pub is a great place to go for meals and a nice drink with your friends! Glad to see that the pub is on the way up, so well done to the management and staff.

Great pub and the staff members are kind and friendly. Only thing would be the chalets need a bit off work doing to them, ie the step and the lighting. But apart from that it’s a good pub

After a few bad experiences in the past we took a chance and booked a meal for my husbands 50th for 19 people. Can honestly say the staff went above and beyond the food was amazing the service was faultless and the banoffee cheese cake was out of this world!!

Our meals came out at different times means some had nearly finished before we got ours. Food wasn’t the greatest. Grilled chicken was tough and couldn’t get through it. The waitress was moody. Didn’t even crack a smile. Short brown bobbed hair with glasses. The ashtrays were over flowing to.

Annabelle & Tineeka were amazing, friendly, helpful and full of smiles. Both were an absolute pleasure to deal with along with all the other staff members there! Fantastic team and atmosphere! thanks everyone 😊

Bought two half Peroni lagers and it come to £8.20. Absolutely disgusting. Another pub ripping the general public off. Never again

We went yesterday as a last minute booking of 14 people. Food was great all within good time and the staff were all so lovely. Don't let the negative reviews put you off.

Is this the best pub in Banbury for food , drink, and value for money?…the answer is a resounding YES…on all counts! The staff are excellent …. always polite and professional……a special mention for Danny and Tracey….both excellent! Yet another bad review for The Barley Mow. A heads up for anyone that has bookings. We wish we had taken note of the recent bad reviews and cancelled and booked elsewhere, but we never used to have a problem and it was my autistic sons 18th birthday and he chose where he wanted to go. We booked for 14 of us, they asked for a pre order which we emailed over 2 weeks ago. Last week I popped in for a drink and asked if they had it and they couldn't find it on the system so I gave it to them again & paid a deposit and they showed me the spreadsheet with the pre order ready to forward to the kitchen and assured me it would all be ready for us so we could eat shortly after we arrived as we had young children with us. We turned up today and after 20 minutes of us being sat waiting they decided to tell us they didn't have our pre order. Eventually started to receive our food almost 1.5 hours after arriving. 5 meals got sent back as they were wrong. The first person to have their meal had finished 20 minutes before the last person got theirs. One of the kids meals was so cremated it was barely edible, but after waiting nearly 2 hours for her meal my 2 year old granddaughter wasn't keen on waiting for them to re cook it! The organisation is horrific and really put a downer on our experience. I asked to speak to the manager to be told she was too busy to speak to us as she was cooking, so we had to communicate with her through another member of staff because she was clearly too ashamed to show her face after the disastrous service received. The staff we spoke to were lovely & did the best they could do to sort things out for us so l would like to say thank you to those. We were eventually told that we could have a whole 20% off the bill for our troubles. If we wanted or thought we were due anymore we'd have to contact head office as they were unable to authorise anymore in house. My son was distressed half an hour in because of the lack of organisation and didn't enjoy his birthday lunch. Not to mention the stress caused my FND to flare up and I ended up having a seizure before the food had come out.

Had a meal here yesterday. Very happy with the service, nice food, big portions, efficient hard working staff and a friendly atmosphere. Would come back without hesitation.

Was quite disappointed really the food was edible but would say very bland and and the sizzling pale ended up burning the food, would be honest would say was made by a trainee chef

Booked a table in the morning of 5th April for a table of 12 wasn't even sorted out when we arrived at 6:30, the service and the staff was horrible saying they didn't have the right food items,then saw them coming out for other eaters ,the attitude on the staff was disgusting and becuase we did it in 3 separate transactions the food came out In 45 minutes intervals overall bad service, wouldn't recomend

This place is a hidden treasure in Banbury. Food is always fresh, with big portions and tasty. Never had a bad meal here.

Dinner and drinks for 4 Peeps. The app unfortunately changed our booking from 4 to 2 people. However the staff were apologetic and sorted the misunderstanding. We had 2 Mega Grills, Pork Belly n Ribs and a Old Faithfull Burger. Really yummy and didn't wait to long. (Bit stinge with the chips on the mega grill, but I am supposed to be dieting) Price was reasonable, atmosphere with a nice level of noise. And really friendly staff

Yesterday about 2pm we had family meal out for change , the service was very nice served by Tracey and the food was delicious and beautiful presented by Kallum and Tracey . team looked after us very well . Definitely will come back to create more memories. We were in perfect seating to watch Italy vs England Rugby match be going of the Six nations .

Great experience. Good tunes, cold beer & they had the footy on. The waitress Karmen was really friendly - made sure we had everything we needed. The barman Kyle was also great. Will pop in again if I’m this side of town.

Often eat here. Reasonable prices for good food. I usually have the classic burger. Portion size means this is plenty for me.
