Very cool place...we only had a drink. Porto to be true. Sraff was friendly and answered our questions about the establishment and Banbury with a smile

Character filled building. As ever, really good and well priced food, especially for lunch and drinks are very reasonably priced. Service is excellent.

Wonderful food with excellent service. They managed to prepare for me a special evening meal despite my food restrictions (FODMAP), which was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend The Church House.

Amazing place. Food exceptional. Service great, reasonable prices, very friendly accommodating staff. The simgapore sling cocktails were amazing and the bloody Mary's were perfect. I can recommend the fish pie and the steak and ale pie. Plentiful portions and delicious. Surroundings great. Well deserved 10/10. Well done guys, loved everything about it.

Had steak and chips. Counted 8 chips. Literally. Steak was lovely but the plates lack substance for a pub. Good beers on tap and good service.

Absolutely awful! Booked a table about a month ago when i arrived told them who I was and showed them confirmation of my table booking. I was then told that they have been trying to contact me ( no, they had not) I informed the man that I have had no missed calls voicemessages or email of any contact from them. They clearly had over booked! I was then told that they could put me a table together but it wouldnt seat the party of 15 i originally booked for but only 12 people and I had to wait 25 minutes which I was Absolutely fine with 45mins later still no table which I then approached the bar staff and was then redirected to the man that told me he could put me a table together. He then told others to leave as the table was booked. We then seated had to get our own menus and then had to flag the man down to place our order in the middle of plaving the order he completely ignored my cousin who was placing her order and walked off to the bar! Which was very rude he then came back for which she then placed her order he then said he would be as quick as he can. On returning he placed down a plate which I did not order and I stated this he said it was free for rhe trouble but I already ordered my food surely he would just deduct the price off for my meal not offer me another meal aswel that may i add tadted like canned chickenl! One of my friends portion looked as if it was a child's portion and the food looked thrown together. I then complained about the whole situation on which he barred me and refused me any drink I was not rude in anyway just stated that the service was awful and the whole situation was a complete nightmare which he then snapped at me in front of my whole table told me the food will be free but I could never return and asked me to leave which I refused as I was there with 15 other people. He then refused to serve me a drink at the bar. Absolutely disgusted and never been treated so poorly in a restaurant. I understand its a busy time of year but that is no excuse to be treated in such a disrespectful mannor. I will state that this was a very sad occasion for the meet up it was my mum's death anniversary and some of my family had come from differant towns and a few of them couldn't even eat as there was no room at the table it was an absolute disaster table was booked for 7 didn't get seated until 8 and food didn't arrive until around 835 the wait for food was not the problem it was everything else the man clearly should not be running the place to be treating his customers like that.

My 4 friends and I went for lunch yesterday(5th december)and had a very good experience.place is lovely.

Rather disappointing to find that they charge more for Zero Guiness than for the alcoholic version.Food was OK though. Afterwards we popped round to the Dog and Gun pub got 7 drinks for less than the price of 4 here.

Never been in to venue, so popped in for a glass as early meeting friend. Ordered large glass of Malbec, poor very poor wine list for one, but charged £1 more than the advertised on the menu!!! So even though a small figure it would mean for those regulars it could be happening all the time!! Not the best experience! Will not be returning!

Food was average.Waitress very good. Wouldn't recommend if you are Scottish as when we went to pay the barman said he couldn't understand us and walked away.

Every month a group of us meet for lunch and catch up. We have been meeting here for the last 3 plus years and it has never failed to make us welcome and happy.

A lovely pub friendly staff and very clean

Food was ok. Steak and ale pie would have been better if it came with chips along the menu.

This Bar and Restaurant was very near to our hotel and we used to come every night on our way back to the hotel for a nightcap. The staff were very friendly and obliging and we just loved the ambience of the place with it's quirky long bar and very colourful furnishings as well as the art work on the walls. Would recommend this pub to any visitors to Banbury. The food served,has, by all accounts got a very good reputation as well.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch, I had hoisin duck stir fry and it was amazing the other members of my party had lamb shank and roast beef which was very tasty, then we had yummy desserts.

Lovely food, friendly staff (we were eating pretty late) and some pleasant paintings on the walls too. My steak was delicious.

We have just eaten here and it was superb. Had the special 2 courses for £20! Ish. The steak was brilliant, not a scrap of fat , my wife had the sea bream also delicious. Followed by sticky toffee pud - fantastic. We will be back.

We had a reunion of a group of old friends here one lunchtime and we had a great time. The food was good and reasonably priced and thete were some great deals on offer. The cocktails were excellent and affordable too. Nice airy interior

Service was poor and slow, I had to keep grabbing her attention even when she was just standing around doing nothing. ( Only three tables had customers) Moody looking waitress who obviously didn't want to be there!! Large restaurant/ bar very open with lots of natural light beaming in but-decor looks cheap and doesn't go with the building, which is a shame. The food was tasty especially the vegan lasagne.

My favourite place to eat at whenever I'm in Banbury.Their Club Sandwich is easily the best I've ever eaten and the friendliness of the staff and the price are second to none.

Thank you for a great meal, managed to squeeze in 24 of us for a leaving lunch, double checked on the pre orders. Food arrived quickly. Most of us took advantage of the sandwich and drink deal.

Reserved a table for 9 for a birthday meal with family and what a charm of a place this is. It is a beautiful place with absolutely gorgeous food and wonderful service, especially from Oliver. He was very attentive and approachable to all members of our party even our younger ones, and offered a pudding as a birthday treat! The food was delicious! Simply delicious! I would highly recommend this place and have already recommended to friends and family, even those who live further away. Thankyou so much for a lovely meal x

The church house was a beautiful building and had lovely decor inside! The food was very reasonably priced, I had the hoisin duck and my boyfriend (who is the best btw) had the lambshank and both were delicious! Five stars 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Had lunch booked for a birthday meal with a friend. On arrival we discovered a wake had been booked and was subsequently busy. We waited patiently by the booking table for 15 minutes and in that time was ignored (despite talking to them) 6 times by waiting staff . In the end we left and went elsewhere where there was also a wake about to start! Except that there we were found a table and had excellent service. Very disappointed with The Church House. It wouldn't have taken a minute to give us a menu and ask us to sit down.

A lovely, well decorated pub/restaurant and the staff are great. I've been here for both family meals and a night out for drinks! It's a friendly and versatile location. The food I had recently wasn't much to shout about but it may well have been a one off

Found by accident whilst pottering around Banbury. The food was lovely and good price. The draught beer was good too. We had peri peri chicken and the roast strip loin of beef and Wainwrights Amber beer.

Food is top quality and very tasty.

Veggie burger was soggy. Other veggie dishes did not go down well with the group. Meat dishes looked good with positive comments Puddings were lovely

Went with a friend while in Banbury. We both had a great main course and a really lovely dessert. They were very busy as there was a large group for a funeral wake. They coped great and servers were polite and friendly. We will definitely go again when we are in Banbury.

My wife and I live near Coventry and we met up, in Banbury, with our eldest son and his family. We chose the 'Church House' to have lunch. This is the second year we have done this. We were delighted the first time and again this time. The choice and quality of food and drinks, the service, the reasonable prices, the décor and ambience were all excellent.

Good food, good value. Great experience from a local restaurant. Highly recommended.

Chose to eat here due to the rave reviews, but was deeply disappointed. We were asked if we'd booked (we hadn't) then told it should be ok with a face that said it definitely wasn't ok, the place was empty bar a table of 6 drinking. Ordered the steak and ale pie, it was like tinned stew in a very dry pastry with 4 chips. The best thing about it was the salad.

Went there for a relaxed dinner with friends, the food was amazing specially the squid, great cocktails and the service was fantastic, Oliver made us feel special, thank you will definitely go back

Bought a chicken burger for £10.95 nd later realised food total on recept is £14.45. Vat was already included and no mention of service charge. So basically the church house stole an extra £3.50 from me. Disgusting, despicable and disingenuous. Advice to all check your receipt on the spot.

Came with a party of 5. Each Chicken dish was dry, steak was not cooked properly and was sent back to be done again. Dessert was the only decent food. Service was good but overall another disappointing experience. 1st time I went for a Work Xmas Party I came home being sick. Would return for a drink but not the food.

Excellent food. Had a cocktail as well and it was really good. Decided that if we are on a journey we will leave the motorway to come to Banbury so much more relaxing here than the motorway services.

Had the lemon and thyme chicken, probably the best chicken I've ever tasted, even asked if they had Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen. 😋😋😋

A generous 2 stars, the single cask ale is off, honestly, why do pubs like this bother serving cask, if it's not available, or you don't have enough custom to justify having it on the bar? Chose half an Estrella instead, £2.80, yet the pint is proudly displayed for £4.95, why am I paying a premium for having a smaller measure? I suspect you think nobody will notice, I'll keep calling out pubs who rip off their customers. The place has so much potential, but fails to capitalise on the beautiful building it occupies.

The experience was mostly great, food was tasty and very reasonably priced. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the BBQ chicken which, as a whole, was great. Unfortunately, there was blood in places. The meal was refunded and free dessert provided. Without this slip up, it would have been 4 stars.

Disgusting food I ate here only because I was very hungry and was surprised how bad was the food.

Stayed for lunch, had a lovely time, meal and service was great, we went for the set menu, 2 courses for £19.50 and were not disappointed.

Sat in the garden and ate duck wrap with chips and coleslaw. It was delicious. Exactly as described on menu. Service was very good and Vaz is a lovely chap behind the bar. Great place. Highly recommended 👌

The place has very nice features and lovely decoration. Variety of seating areas, including terase (great for the nice weather). Only had a drink so can't comment on the food. You need to go up a few steps once you are inside to get in and a few steps to get to extra seating and terase. Parking - there is short term parking with pay and display right Infront. After 6pm it's free.

The Sunday roast was amazing would recommend the church house any day

It was an old church. It was later turned into a bar. I did not go inside. I shared it because the beauty of its exterior and its transformation from a church attracted my attention.

Food looks very dry and tasteless. Not fresh at all. Beautiful place and service is good. But Food is terrible I am not sure how old the chicken is. I had to eat something because I was super hungry.

Great food, really friendly and helpful staff

I was lucky enough to have a wonderful lunch service on my first visit to this hidden gem! The hospitality staff were very personable and made sure we were at our most comfortable throughout the visit. I had a few questions about some of the dishes on the menu and was pleasantly surprised when the Head Chef, Ollie, took time to come over to our table and talk me through the dishes! He made a few recommendations based on allergens and I opted for the Wild Mushroom Risotto which was sublime! It was personally delivered by Ollie with some further information on the ingredients and recipe! Incredible experience and I will definately visit again the next time I am in the area!
