Breaking an early start journey from Oxford, we were directed to this brilliant small cafe by a record shop proprietor! Delighted to find not only the perfect breakfast fry up, but gluten free options abounded - heaven for a coeliac wife! Highly recommended to seek out just adjacent to an old archway across the road.

We popped in at 10am on a May Bank Holiday Monday looking for breakfast and were absolutely delighted with everything. We nearly walked past as it looked really tiny, but there's a big area at the back with lots of tables. Spotlessly clean with a lovely gentleman taking our orders and a lovely lady cooking a delicious vegan sausage and normal sausage breakfast bap. Oat milk wasn't an issue and we left with a vegan chocolate cake and vegan ginger biscuit for lunch (it didn't make it that long as both looked and tasted delicious!). Gluten free options as well if needed. Really lovely place we wouldn't hesitate to visit again if we were in the area.

Hi there, you were getting ready to shut up, as we walked in, my husband and I, along with our dog Hudson. You both went out of your way to make us feel welcome and make us some hot food, even though you had finished for the day, as I didn’t want cold food options, we were soaked to the skin, cold, freezing and had another 300 + miles to travel. But having filled our faces with lovely homemade food, jolly conversation and a warm environment, we were ready to hit the road again, thank you so much, will see you again next year, take care and thank you. We popped in for coffee and ordered oat milk flat whites - the coffee was not a flat white just a terrible weak milky cup of hot tastelessness. The vegan pear cake with vegan cream was good but the scones we ordered were dry, tasteless and probably not fresh. We had a long drive ahead of us so this was a very disappointing pit stop.

The Red Chair Cafe looks a little odd being on a corner site next to the old town gate with very restricted access - but inside the welcome is genuine and the food cooked adjacent to the dining area. A very welcoming husband and wife team using local produce for good home cooking. Our lunch was excellent and not expensive.

Me, my partner and our 4 children visited this cafe on Saturday 5th September and ordered £50 worth of food and drink. My 10 year old son has anxiety over food and eats very little and very few foods ( no hot food at all and nothing we could choose off a cafe menu)Once our food was served Mervyn and Deborah very rudley BOTH approached our table and said my son couldn't eat anything that hadn't been purchased on the premises ( he was currently eating several tuc crackers and drinking a hot chocolate that we had purchased from the cafe) I explained he wouldn't eat anything off the menu to which I was rudely asked what was wrong with him and did he have allergies. I explained he has anxiety issues around food and there are only a small number of items he will eat.The insensitive and unprofessional manner this situation was dealt with was appalling. Yes I maybe could have asked your permission for him to eat his crackers before I gave them to him, however given that myself and partner had ordered so much food and drink for the rest of us we believed anyone observing our children eating would sensitively realise there must be a reason why we were feeding 3 of our children differently to our 4th.If a family come into your cafe again and one of the children isn't eating off your menu please refrain from not only publicly attacking them but also publicly shaming a child for being different infront of a cafe full of strangers. My son is currently receiving therapy regarding his food anxiety and your insensitive way of dealing with the situation just made a very difficult issue worse! Not all food problems are physical. I would love nothing more than for my son to have ordered something off your over priced menu. The food in this cafe was extremely over priced and and definitely not value for money. This was my opinion even before we were publicly shamed infront of other customers.Myself and my son had a BLT each which was a small breadcake, 2 rashers of bacon, one slice of tomatoe and 2 lettuce leaves for £4.70! If you want value for money, a warm welcome, good customer service and hosts that are good with children do not visit this cafe.

Everything was clean and tidy. Our drinks were first class as was the delicious salmon breakfast. We would recommend this cafe. The only point to note Is. If you have a disability. the toilets which are also spotless. are located at the bottom of a staircase. ( there are handrails both sides from top to bottom ) We look forward to returning when next passing through.

Popped in to purchase some take away coffees at lunch time today, was horrified when I got home and looked at the credit card slip, £3.56 per cup, Wow!! Total bill £7.12 for two!! For such a little shop I feel that is over the top, specially when just down the road they are selling large cappuccino for £2:00!!Was there 10 days ago & had a very nice meal, but this left a bad taste & we will not be returning again.

On a rainy day in Cornwall, my wife and I stopped in Launceston for a Light Lunch. We Asked for recommendations and were pleased to have chosen Red Chair Cafe. The hostess (and chef) was friendly and very helpful. I ordered Homemade Soup and my wife ordered a Goat's Cheese Based Tartlet and Salad. Both were delicious. Then came the 'Piece De Resistance' .... We shared a Homemade Fruit Crumble and custard which was definitely a 10/10. Only minor blip was that my wife's coffee arrived long before she asked for it. That aside, we thoroughly enjoyed ourunch and would not hesitate to recommend this cafe if you are ever in Launceston.

Called for a lunch stop on Saturday 25July. Had baked potato,(£5.50+£1 for tuna filling) , beautifully served with a small salad. However the potato was so small and the tuna so meagre, that I could have eaten it in one mouthful.. vastly overpriced, and the cost of the sweets als very high for what they were essentially. Not good value

The owner and staff were very welcoming and happy to spend time pleasantly chatting. The coffee was excellent and so to the smoothies. Three hot drinks, two meals, a smoothie and two pieces of cake for a little more than £20 so excellent value for money. Launceston is not the best of places to visit on a damp day and there was little to excite the visitor. We decided to have a light lunch and chanced upon this cafe, which from the outside looks uninvitingly small, but it has sufficient accommodation inside. The doorway is narrow and opens onto the street, thereby making it quite difficult for someone with mobility problems. This is exacerbated inside by the curved stairway leading down to the sanitary facilities. The decor may not be to everyone's liking, however it was very clean and tidy with a variety of tables and chairs that could cater for the sole diner to parties of six.Again we were unfortunate that a party of cyclists had just arrived before us, However the staff member advised us that there would be a 10 minute wait which in fact turned out to be 20 minutes. A cheese sandwich and tea and a sausage bap and apple juice came to £12.50 which could be considered to be slightly expensive. The staff member was informative and friendly and would be the only reason for returning there.

Visited today for lunch & was impressed by the value, the service & the wholesome, simple honesty of the place. Set inside a converted night club, the building’s history goes back a very long way & is set essentially inside the old fort walls. Easy walking distance to the castle also!Had jacket spuds which were tasty, very well presented & came with a nice salad alongside. The coffee is very nice (Cornish Coffee Co) & from the table we sat at there was also a lovely view.Overall, the premises are adorned in a wicked Art Deco style juxtaposed against a classic cafe with modern food presentation, free WiFi & a wacking great big telly offering feature films throughout your meal. (Cult films often, also they do a film night with BYOB & a different film all the time! Casablanca & One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest are coming up after Easy Rider!) The owner is also the chef & your waiter & greets you with a welcoming smile & a friendly ‘hello’, directs you to a free seat & takes your order (some cafes are confusing & you aren’t sure whether there is table service or you have to order at the counter - the chap takes that ‘anxiety’ away instantly)I would say this place is a must visit - plan a day to see the castle (which is fantastically peculiar & hints at a far older history) & arrive for lunch. We had 2 rounds of coffee & a big lunch for £20 with great views & a friendly atmosphere. Absolutely 5/5 & absolutely recommended.Oh yeah, the chap makes homemade soup as well which, although had run out, was good enough for other customers to ‘crow’ that we’d missed out & would have to come back earlier next time. I know the soups good because the woman’s two kids had a choice of chips or the soup & willingly chose the soup & finished every drop (the bowls looked clean).Do yourself a favour & ignore the Costa round the corner....

We got to Launceston at the end of a day out and in the midst of a downpour. It wasn't yet closing time but the streets were empty, and many shops closed. We went through the arch and found this lovely place. Unsure if it was open, as it was a Thursday and the notice suggested it closed early, we were welcomed in. Himself had the last slice of lemon roulade which he said was delicious and I enjoyed a hot cross bun and we both had a good cup of cafe. Our hosts were very hospitable and clearly nothing is too much trouble for them. They are a well travelled pair and their open and curious (in a nice not nosey way) minds made for a enjoyable chat to go along with lovely refreshments.

Following on from our second visit I was left in turmoil, should I share our experiences and risk not being able to get a table in the future or be selfish and keep this lovely local gem hidden as long as possible, after wrestling with my conscience I have decided that people should know that nestled right in the centre of the town there is a super cafe where good food and great service may be found, no corporate branding here just real people serving real food and totally unfazed by my allergies, gluten free - no problem, vegetarian - no problem, vegan - no problem. Normally (in a chain) it is a GF Brownie.Liked the art deco theme with an old movie playing in the background. Poor service and virtually no vegan/vegetarian options. Asked for a veggie burger which was on the menu, they didn't have any. Asked what else was vegan, they didn't know. Service was very slow and all front of house seemed uninterested and more keen to huddle round the bar chatting. One waitress was particularly rude, I wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend. Lots of much friendlier places in Falmouth.
