Two very good breakfasts, mug of tea and a latte. Nothing pretentious. Would recommend and certainly be returning. It was busy with a fair turnover of customers. All served efficiently

I have used the Rainbow cafe many times, and as I was in the area this morning I decided to have a medium breakfast from The Rainbow Cafe, the verdict was the breakfast came hot and very quickly the portion sizes were excellent, and very tasty. .

Well if u want the absolute BEST breakfasts in Sussex you must come to the Rainbow cafe, Southvstreet in Lancing. Large portions, nice fresh, well-cooked food and not too expensive!! Been coming here for years and can 100% recommend to everyone. They do nice lunches too, oh and the coffee's, yummy! Especially the iced coffee with whipped cream! Go for it!!! Really is the best 👌

The rainbow is really Lancings only basic cafe but has a good range of food which has always been served pipping hot. Saturday i had the steak and kidney pie with veg and it was totally filling and I felt like i had eaten which is not always the case when i eat out.

Booked a table in advance for five of us and as it was packed glad we did. Good choice on menu from breakfasts to main meals, burgers and sandwiches. All the food was served together and was very tasty. I'm not a fan of paying before I eat but you have to do this here. Would most probably go back if I was in the area.

Good value food and service all freshly cooked, good quality and quantity breakfast menu, tables sanitised before you sit down or after you have eaten and left very clean cafe.

We eat here at least twice a month,without doubt our favourite cafe. Food is always spot on and served speedily and hot. It can get very busy in the mornings but has plenty of tables inside and out.

have been going here for years and never been let down cant wait for them to open up again properly but even the take away service is top notch and they are always friendly and smiley

Super nettes Cafe mit typischen full english breakfast Angebot. Frühstücks Tee für einen Pfund. Nettes Frauenteam im Service und in der Küche ein Mann. Ich empfehle es auch gerne der Rainbow Community die ich dort auch traf.

This was the cheapest bacon sandwich I have encountered in East and West Sussex at GBP 3.80 with a mug of tea. Can't complain, no I can't complain at all - there's no such thing as a bad bacon sandwich and this one was cheap too.

Came in with my family to have a breakfast. It was full so the lady told us to wait outside and she would let us know when a table was free. Lots of people went in and they gave away the tables even though we were outside waiting. So we went inside when we saw a table of five that became free and it was given to two men that arrived after us.

I visited with my friend at the weekend and we ordered coffee and sandwiches.The coffee was very good and the sandwiches very tasty and good quality.However I had to use the Ladies before I left. How awful are they! There are several girls that appear to work there and you would think that they would make a bit of an effort to make it nicer for them! Honestly it was abysmal. Cobwebs on the corners of the ceiling. The sink had gunk all round it. Very disappointed all round. The skirting had not seen a cloth for a long time. Also the ceiling fan is filthy! It makes you think "environmental health" should be informed about the place. It's a shame as its a friendly place but come on guys. Clean the place up!!

Neat lean and tidy. Has one step in, then level inside. Good value food. Busy and well worth returning. Time limited parking outside, as available.

Four of us ate here for lunch on Sunday. We had 3 x jacket potato with various generously proportioned toppings and 1 x sausage an chips.The staff were very welcoming and the food cooked fresh to order. All of our meals were excellent vfm and very tasty.Would eat here again.

I regularly go to this café for breakfast and whatever I have is first class. Always hot and huge portions. Very friendly staff. A great place to go.

Come here quite regularly and have never been disappointed with the food. Very good coffee too and all at a good price. Only downside for me is the décor and especially the toilet, could do with a bit of work!

It's a long time since I have visited here but, having only recently been informed that this cafe had changed hands a while ago, I thought we would give it a try.

I am very impressed with this cafe. I ordered a breakfast of my own choice which included sausages, bacon, grilled tomato, baked beans, sauté potatoes, fried bread, bread and butter, washed down with a cup of coffee. The coffee arrived immediately and the breakfast was served very quickly.

We have been here twice now for a Sunday lunch. They do roast every day of the week which is unusual. I have to say the meals are huge and so much food seems to be going back to the kitchen when customers leave. Not because it's not nice it's just too much. Elderly people who come in can't eat a fraction of what's given. The management seem to be East European which seems to cause a little confusion but not serious. The food is wholesome and home cooked. I had roast pork last week which was quite delicious. They don't slice meat up though. I had a 1 inch thick slice of pork off a loin joint. It was however tender and well cooked. Veggies were great but roast potatoes seem to have been finished off in a deep fat frier. The gravy was way too much and spread over things that are meant to be crispy like roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud and pie crusts (my husband had chicken and mushroom pie.) This of course made them soggy and disappointing. The week before I ordered roast chicken which was a whole chicken breast sliced through the middle. The prices are very reasonable though with a roast costing 6.95. It is advertised as licensed but the only alcohol they sell is bottled beer that they keep in the fridge. They seem to be trying hard to cook what must be alien food to them. They must cut down on size of meals, I can't see them making a profit otherwise and take a few pointers. With a few tweets this could be a nice little restaurant.

So Yesterday I took my elderly Mum to the Rainbow cafe in Lancing as we had not been there for some time. I noticed that the previous owners were no longer there, and they had made some improvements to the decor, including new plastic covers on the tables. I found that there seem to be a small language barrier as the guy in front of me ordering his food had to repeat his order at least 8 times ? I understood what he meat but the young girl and the chef/owner didnt quite get it ? Anyway that aside I ordered my food which was pretty straight forward, and sat down by the door entrance. There were 3 other tables with customers on, a 4 and two 2's. I at first thought they had finished their meals, but I was wrong! After about ten minutes or so a waitress appeared with some food for the table outside ? Then again she appeared and also took the food outside to the bench tables in the sun. 20 mins later she brought the first of the meals for the table of 4. Next meal was for the guy that ordered in front of me in the queue, and then almost 35 mins later our food arrived. I ordered cottage pie , which I shared with Mum as we are both light eaters. I'm glad I did as the portion was huge ! It was tasty and homemade, but I did wonder what kind of mince it was? and because of some reviews I found myself looking for hairs? (sorry) No hairs!

Have been going to this cafe for a while now and does a nice breakfast and coffee as well as quite a few lunchtime meals as well. Service is good and friendly and its quite nice to sit oitside and watch the world go by.

Stopped here before. Parking outside is a bit limited but normally here early enough that never had a problem.

I've been here a few times for a breakfast roll which is £3.50 without chips because that's filling enough for me. I have found it a very clean and relaxing place to be with straightforward service. In the good weather you can sit outside as there are a few tables and a long bench. On Sundays I've seen bikers stop there and use the bench.

This little cafe has become my go to place for lunch and sometimes breakfast.. For a small cafe it has a varied menu great salads jacket potatoes great roasts! Staff are friendly and anxious to please

Popped in for takeaway breakfast baguette each for me and the hubby. Great VFM, very filling and came with sliced potatoes in the box that were not ordered but were a nice surprise. Will definitely return.

Este café ha sido tomada. Fui a probarlo y no me puedo quejar, la verdad. Los nuevos propietarios son encantadores y ser un vegetariano se esforzaron por hacerme un desayuno saludables. Que a la parrilla en lugar de freír las salchichas ellos para mí y me hizo huevos duros en vez de fritos.

Well ,have visited the Café again .Service is very good as is the food ,how ever I do have a problem with the toilets, they are really bad ,as are the doors leading to them ,they need a total revamp ,failing that a really good clean ,and new toilet brushes ,I was pleased to see new condiments [sauce botts ect ] so that is the extent of my comments.

La comida está bien, inglés cafetería comida estándar, pero los precios son demasiado alta. También son, en mi opinión, sólo un poco mezquino. Por ejemplo, cuando me gustaría pedir un conjunto desayuno y pide una soda en lugar del té que lo acompaña, se lo cobrarme el precio completo de la soda y no la diferencia entre un té y una soda. Lo mismo sucedió en ninguna de las otras sustituciones - se efectúe en su totalidad para el nuevo tema y nada era bajó por el tema que reemplazó. Petty y trivial, lo sé, pero fue suficiente para mostrarme la satisfacción del cliente podría no estar en lo más alto de su lista de prioridades. No condenar el lugar sólo para eso, pero ya que hay muchas otras buenas cafeterías donde vayan más allá, no puedo ver yo ni ninguno de mis amigos regresando.

My husband and I popped into this cafe for lunch last Sunday. How I wish I had never set foot in the place! My husband ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered an egg salad sandwich. When th food arrived I noticed that there was egg yolk running out of my sandwich, I opened it to find it was a fried egg! I could not believe what I was seeing! My husband took it back and asked for a fresh one with hard booked egg. Their reply was "we don't do boiled eggs" so I attempted to eat it (after removing the wilting salad) but it was revolting. My husband took it back to the counter and asked if I could have a poached egg on toast instead. A couple of minutes later a girl came out and said "would you like your poached egg hard boiled?" I was dumbfounded! When it arrived the toast hasp not been buttered and it didn't taste very nice at all. I spent the rest of the day feeling slightly sick!

Good range of British cafe food at reasonable prices served with a smile. A very nice place for lunch or breakfast.

The place is just horrid!The staff are rude! The food lacked cooking on some parts and the whole place had an air of greasy! I won't be entering this place again!

Went there today with 2 other people and was shocked to be asked if we are eating otherwise theres a coffee shop along the road.i was planning on getting a sandwich or something once 1 of us had left. So was disgusted to be asked to leave without even finishing drinks. Although there was 1 member of staff that was friendly and apologetic. Also did not want to give a reciept.also they were right the coffee shop along the road was great friendly service and we did eat.

2 Baguettes and a soft roll was the order but what arrived was old, the baguettes were so hard they were inedible and soft roll was stale - possible the worst £13 I have ever spent!!

I have been here on numerous occasions. It has a good selection for breakfasts and lunch options. It is looking a little tired over the years and the staff can look tired too. I think just some TLC and this would be a fantastic place.

Condiments greasy, which put me off, and saute potatoes often tasted stale as if cooked in old oil. Won't go back!More of a workman's cafe!

I visited this cafe on Sunday for breakfast. We ordered 2 large breakfasts with white coffee and found our seats. The coffee arrived but was more like hot milk with a hint of coffee. We were then asked to move to a different table because a larger group was coming in and they wanted to push our table against another one. We were then perched on the end of a larger table in the corner. This led to confusion when our breakfast arrived because the waitress hadn't been informed we'd been moved. The breakfast was overcooked with the mushrooms oozing grease. We then had to ask for the included toast because this had been given to the customers on our original table . The staff were unfriendly, the tables and menus were sticky and the food appalling. We won't be visiting again.

Today I visited the Rainbow Cafe in Lancing with 7 other friends. At first we were content with the place as the prices were reasonable and the first people to receive their food were happy with it. However trouble started when I received the wrong order. I ordered the medium breakfast with an extra hash brown, but received the large breakfast with no hashbrowns and many other things I didn't order. I politely told them I received the wrong order but instead of apologising, the member of staff at the till was very rude to me and told me that because a few of us had ordered extra things we would have to wait. The waitress then came out with two dishes and tried to give me the wrong one yet again. I tried to tell her that my order was the other one in her hand and the woman behind the till started shouting at me telling me to speak up because they had a lot of orders and was very busy and hadnt even given any other customer their food yet (even though we arrived when the place was empty, so surely we should have gotten our food first anyway? I finally received the correct order. About 5 minutes later they came out to give one of my friends their food, which turned out to be wrong again. It was my other friends food who has ordered after him. A couple of minutes later my friend told the staff he had not received his food yet and again the lady behind the till shouted at him, telling him to just wait two minutes and that is was our fault because we kept swapping our orders, but we didnt. My boyfriend never received his cup of tea and 2 pieces of bacon were missing from his meal. I then found a hair in my food, after telling my boyfriend what I found, he then found one in his meal too! Another friend then went up to complain about our whole service, especially the hairs in our food and the missing items from my boyfriends order. The lady then got very defensive again, using the excuse that they were too busy. My friend told her she understood as she also works in a cafe but that her attitude was not good enough and we at least deserve an apology. The lady then said 'I am sorry what do you want me to do" but this was still said in a very rude way. I said that I don't think that was a very good apology, she then got another customer who was waiting involved and said "didn't I just say sorry?" To which he looked very awkward and obviously didn't want to get involved. She never apologised properly or offered us anything for her bad service apart from a reluctant refund of £1 for the tea my boyfriend never received. My friend sat back down and quietly said to another that the service was bad. The lady then asked us to leave her premises. We were planning on leaving anyway. This is when they were extremely rude to us, as we left we told them they were rude, she said " excellent" and the waitress shouted "no you are rude!" Another friend then suggested they wear hair nets in future whilst cooking, in which she replied that my friend should tie her hair up. Completely childish, rude and just disgusting service plus the hair in our food just makes it worse. We felt like they took an instant dislike to us as we are a group of 18 year olds but we were never rowdy and were enjoying our morning out until this happened. We don't want anyone else to have to waste their time or money in that shambles of a cafe.

Great atmosphere and a quick service. The drinks were a nice hot temperature! Would come here again!! :-D - great decaf coffee.

went to this cafe for the first time afew months ago, ordered a bagette lunch that was rock hard and pretty much stale. Gave the cafe a second chance & recently visited with my family, we were welcomed by rude staff, who then went on and denied my father of his simple order of poached eggs on toast as they were "too busy" to do them, after the long waiting time, 2/3 of the breakfast we ordered came out incorrect.. if it wasn't for the polite waiter who could sense our irritation and corrected the error we would of gladly demanded a refund and gone elsewhere. I can definitely say I will not be giving this cafe any more of my money or time. there are far better places in the local area for a much better price, quality and service.

The Rainbow cafe does a good choice of breakfast and lunches with great service from the staff. It is open 7 days a week.

Lancing appears to have one street, called South Street. None of the pubs (morons!) do food of a lunchtime. The one chippie has no seating. All the Med/Oriental options are closed. What is WRONG with this town? Don't these people want to make any money? Utterly pathetic. They deserve to go bust.Rainbow Cafe is the way forward. Bustling of a lunchtime, nice staff, accommodate elderly people and/or wheelchairs with a smile and genuine niceness. Most of the main meals are more than a normal human could eat for £5.50. For sure, you won't leave there feeling hungry!
