So pleased to reinstate my 5 star review after I had downgraded my review from 5 Stars to 1 for food after my wife visited in September with a group of friends when portions were ridiculously tiny. First discovered the Bridge in the summer and had one of the best and biggest and best fish and chips ever whilst having great views of the River Adur in their Quayside dining area. We went to there Saturday steak night and food and service was very equally impressive. An excellent fillet steak with corn ribs a whole roast garlic, superb chips, mushrooms, and a choice of sauces, peppercorn, blue cheese or chimichanga. At £20 a head it was ridiculously good value. Looking forward to going back and trying some more of their menu. The beers surprisingly good too Also my 5 star review when I visited August 2024 Wow the fish and chips who said size wasn't important. Same can be said for the rack of ribs. Enough to feed 2 (but I still managed it) Can definitely recommend 100%. My new go to pub restaurant of choice..

I ordered the crab salad and so did my friend who was here From Australia. You would never have known it was a crab salad. I struggled to find any ? My friend agreed. My sister and her friend had whitebait, my sister said it was very strong. I did let the waiter know that we were not happy with the crab salad. It comes with no bread which I think should be included, the bread was £8 for six slices. That is ridiculous , anyway we did not have to pay for it as we told him how upset we were about the crab salad. Chips were lovely and cooked well. Also liked the padro peppers. But will not be returning.

Having been a customer for years, this recent visit was dreadful in all areas Menu was limited and vastly overpriced, food was disappointing with no effort, no cutlery or condiments and we had to keep going to try and ‘find’ a member of staff to keep asking for these and the bill etc The service was dreadful, not enough staff and an attitude they were being inconvenienced. Dirty wine glasses to which once mentioned we were passed a bunch of serviettes to clean them ourselves. It was a beautiful sunny day, the garden was packed but we left as we were just struggling to get served. We moved on somewhere else and sadly won’t be back again.

Nice venu with good food. Went with a friend for Sunday lunch but we just ordered a small plate from the menu: crab salad which was delicious. The menu was short and with just a few options including the traditional Sunday roasts. Drinks were okay but I found it a bit expensive. Parking is outside the venue but be careful going in and out as it's located next to a busy roundabout in Shoreham by sea. The place definitely needs a cleaning to some spider webs on the lamps and windows. Overall a good place to visit.

Visited with family and had a browse over the menu whilst having drinks. Decided not to eat here as the selection was very limited and the seats were dirty, tired and had Debris down the back of them. Didn't have much welcome interaction when arrived either. Personally if was up to me, I would of skipped drinks and walked out.. But others wanted to stop for a drink before sourcing food elsewhere.. Thankfully we did.. Went to Crown and Anchor down the road and spent over £100 on excellent food, service and atmosphere..

Very disappointed in the new menu. The chickpea and hallumi burgers have been removed leaving very few vegetarian options.. £17 for a squash curry is outrageous 😳 My friends steak came with just chips.. no tomato no slaw no mushroom.. There was no presentation either.. the steak was ontop of the chips. Very disappointed as previous meals were superb!

Having used the bridge on many occasions for large family gatherings and as a couple looked forward to a visit back, disappointing on every level very limited menu no usual pub food, chose the burger came with skinny frozen chips no garnish of any kind,my wife chose the fish and chips fish half the size of our last visit with overdone potato chips and all prices had increased together with a £28 bottle of house wine completed our visit needless to say we will not be returning, such a shame used to be so good

Brought drinks and picked up a menu for lunch, to find this was all that was available (see photo). I've been here multiple times so was excited to have a veggie burger again however my option's this time were very limited to either corn on the cob, a bowl of peppers or a curry for £17. Extremely disappointed by the lack of veggie options on the menu. We ended up leaving and going to another pub with a better menu. I really love The Bridge but the menu was such a let down.

A real shame as it's such a great location by the river. Pub interior desperately needs a refurbishment, mens toilets were mostly out of order, decor jaded etc. Exterior is much better, sofas & cushions and lovely "Bridge" room and terrace. Food menu (on paper so looks hastily prepared) is much changed from our last visit last year and offers very limited choices, which was disappointing. Food was just OK , prices typical of most pubs, so doesn't offer great value really - we'd think again about revisiting for food! Apart from positives on location and external areas, the staff were excellent - friendly and attentive! All in all, a missed opportunity by Fullers Brewery to have something really special.

A friendly pub in a great location. However, recently they have amended their menu and vastly reduced the number of options available and seem to have put prices up. Fish and chips (without any mushy peas, just battered fish and some chips) was £18 today!! It's such a shame as the previous offerings on the menu were amazing, and we always struggled with our decision due to so many good options. Also, the dessert menu was a chocolate brownie or a choice of several ice creams, which to me isn't much of a dessert menu... What was our go to "pub lunch" will now likely be avoided for food, which is a great shame.

Went for Sunday Lunch, and they had a very much truncated menu than is shown online, so beware. Because of this, a lot of the expected veggie options were missing, including the veggie wellington roast. The veggie roast option had been reduced to a butternut squash "steak", literally just a slice of roasted squash. For this, we were charged the same as if we had ordered beef or lamb, so it must have been a damn expensive squash. We were in the big top tent out the back, into which they were piping bizarre reggae cover versions of popular hits. Just such a strange atmosphere. The service was good and the food was nice, but vastly overpriced for what amounted to a plate of vegetables. Probably wouldn't go back, as even soft drinks were expensive.

We walked into the Bridge - with some friends, and as we have done for the last 20 years living in Shoreham, we walked through the pub and went to see if there were any tables free in the back garden. Before we got to the door. We heard someone in a raised voice say "excuse me...what are you doing? Can I help you?" We explained that we were going to see if there was a free table outside. The guy explained it was customary to greet staff in a pub before you go outside. I'm 53, It's not my first time in a pub. I didn't realise this was a formal requirement. All 6 of us were genuinely taken aback by the guys abruptness. So I can tell you that I'm not over reacting here. He said there was a sign at the bar telling people this. We asked where the sign was. It was a small A4 chalkboard sitting on top of the bar. We did not see it as there were people standing in front of it. Maybe have a second sign on the bar telling people not to stand in front of the other sign that's on the bar, oh hang on.... So I would just like to apologise to the guy (new owner?) for not reading the sign. We all genuinely missed it. I'm sorry that we walked into the pub without formally greeting the staff and I'm sorry that we went to walk out into the back garden. As we were made to feel so unwelcome we left, He gave us a very sarcastic goodbye. It was genuinely one of the most bizarre interactions I've had in terms of customer service. We are now taking a good hard look at our behaviour and reflecting on what we did. We're doing this at the pub next door, the Crown and Anchor. Oddly enough, the six of us just walked into the garden sat down and are now enjoying some beers and food. We didn't see any sign but we might have missed it. You might want to pop next door and tell them about the new rules. They don't seem to know about them. It's such a shame because it used to be a really friendly pub.

Welcomed by very friendly staff, love this! A couple of us met for lunchtime drinks and some good food. We had a selection of starters rather than a dish each, and enjoyed sitting out the back which was great, with a great selection of covered and uncovered seating, looks good too. The interior desperately needs updating but I appreciate that it's not a simple, or cheap job, especially in these current times for pubs. The food was generally very good. We had the mussels which were great, and well presented, a great source and some crispy bread. We also had the chicken starter which was nice, with a lot of flavour on the outside of the chicken but not really in the chicken itself, still lovely though. The crispy calamari starter we ordered was more soggy than crispy which was a shame but it was still tasty and portion sizes were good (portion sizes with all the food were good), and some fries which were great. Two pints and plenty of food came to around £28. Overall a very good experience, we enjoyed our time chilling, chatting, eating and drinking. Once again I would like to point out that the customer service was superb, some eateries need to go down there for lessons. I would definitely go back, especially on a nice sunny day or evening.

We visited for a belated mothers day meal with family. The menu is extensive & not particularly over priced however 2/5 melas we had were short of the mark. I order roast lamb as we rarely have it home/ thought it would be nice for a change. What (lamb) arrived looked like is had come out of the bottom of a spam tin. It was a compressed/ reconstituted shredded lamb. Quite peculiar & not awful to eat but certainly not 'roast lamb'. Sadly (& more importantly) our mums fish & chips was dreadful. It looked like the fish had been battered & cooked more than once & it was rock solid. The burger, roast beef & roast chicken all seemed okay. Our mum isn't one to complain (especially for a mothers day meal) so my sister swapped plates at the end & tried to give the server some constructive feedback. She said something along the lines of "I think you should know that the fish was almost inedible look, it's rock solid." The young wait refrained from apologising & said he'd let the kitchen know. We waited for about 30 minutes chatting in the hope that a manager would come out &, at the very least, acknowledge the comments but to no avail. Sadly I think we won't be back, it seems a convenient venue that I'd suggest you pass on.

While the service was great, I’m afraid we really didn’t have a great experience with the food. The brioche buns were stale, the fish was lukewarm and coleslaw was definitely past its use by date. £100 was a lot to spend on something that was well below average, and frankly inedible. Not a great Mother’s Day. We’ve loved visiting The Bridge in the past, so as you can imagine we were disappointed. A complaint was made privately to The Bridge but we have received no response.

Hello To whom it may concern Thank you for the invitation Unfortunately my family and I will never eat at The Bridge again. We had an awful experience. In January I came from Brighton to my sister who lives locally. We came with the expectation of really good food and service as we have previously eaten at your pub/restaurant .. and we’ve always been very impressed with the food. We ordered from the menu .. my sister and I ordered the belly pork, my partner a burger .. my child a burger from the child menu. The food arrived.. the belly pork for us both was completely uneatable.. neither of us could cut it with our cutlery!!. The crackling hadn’t been cooked the meat was completely tough .. we approached the staff at the bar . I explained the situation to what I assume was the senior staff member. It was a tall guy with a beard.. there was no apology.. he came out with stake knifes !! His effort to amend the situation. Both of us said no thank you .. to which a young waiter offered to replace our meals .. bearing in mind my husband had child had nearly finished by the time our replacement meal arrived .. which to be honest was equally as dreadful. No effort was made to improve the service or experience from the senior staff ,no offer of hospitality or grace given. The meals that replaced our first choice were cheaper.. but no refund of the cost was given or offered.. no apology at all . The most emphatic staff member was the table waiter.. who clearly wasn’t the most senior staff member. A really sad , uneventful lunch and family meet up.. which was a shame as usually the food , atmosphere and service is very good and memorable. To add to that .. we then bought another drink a small “coke” which was served in a child’s glass as no others were available.. apparently!!. I’m sorry to complain but it was dreadfu

We got into a habit of regularly having a roast at the bridge in 2023 but there was a bit of a decline in the quality and enjoyment of the roast towards the end of 2023. We visited today again for the first time and are delighted that the roasts are back at their best! Large portions of meat, loads of different vegetables, good yorkie and thick meaty gravy. The sides of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese were also great! We had sticky toffee pudding and brownie for pudding which were also much improved, warm, comforting and delicious.

Amazing roast, really friendly staff! One of the best roasts we’ve had outside our own homes, the gravy was incredible!

Family of 7 all had a roast each and wow Probably the best roast dinner out there. Grear views over the harbour. Service is amazing. Parking is limited but there is parking near by not an issue. Would love to come back soon.

Great place, not what you expect based on the frontage, food was good but lost points for over seasoning, but the waiter was a legend and gave my son a free pot of ice cream. Also my youngest child was served quite a rare burger, no kid wants that!

asked for menu; we love eating at The Bridge. Food is always excellent. BUT, no one was interested in taking our order. Up until now, it was THE only place to go in Shoreham. new decisions will be made.

An average Sunday Lunch. But very pleasant staff and good atmosphere. We had roast beef which was fine. Unfortunately one of us was missing carrots and parsnip, which were on the other plates.

Really nice staff, even though my dog barked at them. Delicious sandwiches, lovely sunny sheltered spot on the terrace. Always great here.

Nice pub. Great location, especially in the summer as the outside seating area is brilliant. However we went on a cold winters day and seated by the window. Lovely overlook but cold. My friend had to put her coat on to get warm! Staff are friendly. Food was really good. Looking forward to returning in the warmer weather

If you like beer which tastes like vinegar, then this is the place for you! Thankfully it wasn’t just the HopHead, the Revelation and London Pride were also akin to a strong balsamic too. Not sure Fullers would have expanded beyond Chiswick if their beer & customer service were as awful as we experienced today. After raising our concerns about the quality of the beer we were offered replacements, which were also awful (cloudy, gummy and heavy on the vinegar) we then asked for a refund which instead of being greeted with apologies we had indignation and argument (not what you’d expect or want) We did eventually get a refund but it was offered with no apology and further rudeness. As a Shoreham resident I was embarrassed that I chose to take my family to The Bridge today, which is a shame as previous visits have been great. We shall not return and I advise you, my friends and fellow beer lovers to try one of the many nicer drinking establishments Shoreham has to offer!

Great seating outside. Most staff friendly, but BE CAREFUL - we had two rounds of drinks, and on the second time (my round) the young bar manager tried to charge me £7 more for EXACTLY THE SAME DRINKS. Even after I complained, he still worked it out that I had to pay nearly £4 more than the first round. CHECK WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Lovely local's pub run by an older lady, with a much needed (in a chilly September!) real fire. Guinness £5.60 in 2024 so mid-priced. Poor mobile signal so tried the wifi which wouldn't work.

One of the best pubs in Southwick. What people call a 'proper old fashioned pub'. Small and cosy with an olde world nautical theme. No gaming machines but beautiful coal fires, friendly customers and superb real ales, beers etc at extremely low prices, served by excellent bar staff and Landlord and Lady! 10 out of 10 all round. See you there, perhaps - guaranteed a warm welcome by us olde locals. 🍻😁🍻😁
