Called in for a couple of beers late on a Wednesday evening. Busy in the garden, reasonably quiet in the bar. Nice atmosphere, mainly young people. Two pints of perfect Guinness. Barman was saying we should try the food sometime as it is so good. Will be back. Excellent steak meal. Perfect pints of Hophead and ESB. Friendly efficient staff.

Very disappointed. We booked a table in advance and preordered food. Most of the staff were wandering around like zombies, not knowing what they were doing, tables full of dirty plates left. Only one young female waitress was helpful. There was no proper management we waited 40 minutes to be told the staff had forgot to pass the ticket to the chef. We left and found an alternative place to eat. Very poor service, the owners need to have a word with the management about the front of house team being chaotic on a Sunday. Its such a shame becoz the chef is great but the young team dealing with customers need training, wasting customers time, getting a bad reputation and losing money is very unprofessional. We wont be eating there again.

We were visiting Shoreham-by-sea with my mom on holidays. We are from Prague. We were hoping to have quick lunch somewhere and popped in The Bridge. We immediately felt in love, how cosy and lovely the place is! And the staff, very friendly. We didn't want to have a quick lunch anymore and stayed for a coffee and desert too. The meals were absolutely delicious, I had lamb, mum had fish, both with crushed potatoes. If we come back to Shoreham, we would visit again! Oh and the view of the river marshes. Stunning ♥️ Petr and Nadia

Our party of 7 adults and 2 young children all enjoyed our lunch today. A belated birthday gathering. The service was cheerfully carried out and efficient. We had assorted meals from the menu including one vegetarian option. We thought it was good value. All meals were well balanced and well presented, some with a lovely colourful salad. We liked the large white platters . The Sea Bass was a good sized portion as was the Cod and chips. Lovely fresh crisp chips! My Aubergine Steak with salad and chips was aromatic, with good flavours. The Beef and Chicken meals were also good portions, well cooked and full of flavour. The childrens Macaroni Cheese meals were much appreciated, by the little ones who also enjoyed Chocolate and Strawberry Icecream later. It was a good lunch out. We always enjoy our visits to The Bridge. So sorry that there is no B&B facility these days which we have often found useful over several years. The changes in management have in some ways altered the old fashioned cosy feel that the place had. Good to see some comfortable and colourful soft furnishing and furniture appearing. Please keep adding 'Cosy' 'Warm' and 'Comfortable' to the overall decor, to maintain the lovely sense of hospitality at The Bridge. We have been visiting for over 20 years. We look forward to our next visit soon x

Don’t think they care about giving great customer service, one person said there would be table available, once we all are in; another lady rudely says if I don’t have booking, we can’t be served. After some back & forth finały managed to find a place to sit outside, then they over charge us in our order, when queried she says it was service charge, the best part we paid her service charge separately as well, she didn’t bother mentioning to us. we went there twice in two weeks & both time service was appalling!

So pleased to reinstate my 5 star review after I had downgraded my review from 5 Stars to 1 for food after my wife visited in September with a group of friends when portions were ridiculously tiny. First discovered the Bridge in the summer and had one of the best and biggest and best fish and chips ever whilst having great views of the River Adur in their Quayside dining area. We went to there Saturday steak night and food and service was very equally impressive. An excellent fillet steak with corn ribs a whole roast garlic, superb chips, mushrooms, and a choice of sauces, peppercorn, blue cheese or chimichanga. At £20 a head it was ridiculously good value. Looking forward to going back and trying some more of their menu. The beers surprisingly good too Also my 5 star review when I visited August 2024 Wow the fish and chips who said size wasn't important. Same can be said for the rack of ribs. Enough to feed 2 (but I still managed it) Can definitely recommend 100%. My new go to pub restaurant of choice..

Went for Sunday Lunch, and they had a very much truncated menu than is shown online, so beware. Because of this, a lot of the expected veggie options were missing, including the veggie wellington roast. The veggie roast option had been reduced to a butternut squash "steak", literally just a slice of roasted squash. For this, we were charged the same as if we had ordered beef or lamb, so it must have been a damn expensive squash. We were in the big top tent out the back, into which they were piping bizarre reggae cover versions of popular hits. Just such a strange atmosphere. The service was good and the food was nice, but vastly overpriced for what amounted to a plate of vegetables. Probably wouldn't go back, as even soft drinks were expensive. EDIT - have put review from two stars down to one as the business have not replied.

Food was good - well cooked pub food. Service started well, but then evaporated and we were left to fend for ourselves. The biggest problem was that it was freezing. Don't sit on the table next to the door to the outside terrace! The harsh lighting doesn't help either. In summer I'm sure this place is great, but on a cold winter's night, when you're looking for a cosy pub to enjoy a relaxed dinner, I'd look elsewhere.

Visited with 4 friends during lightup Shoreham and have been many times before. Sat outside in the covered area at around 9, half way through our 2nd round of drinks, we were approached by a dishevelled, unkempt and generally scruffy elderly chap. He bruskly instructed us that the table was reserved and that we must vacate it immediately. When we politely (and with no small measure of incredulity) enquired who he was and how the table was reserved (there was no signage) he advised he was the landlord and his descion was final. Due to his aggressive approach and general appearance we politely and reasonably challenged him - simply not believing him to be what he claimed and instead a chancer harbouring a motive to blag our table in a busy pub. Instead of answering or even entering into any discourse, he waived over a bouncer who repeated the request for us to give up the table. We left the table and asked the bouncer what was going on. He advised, obviously embarrassed, that he wasn't sure. He was polite and apologetic. We shall not return. I feel sorry for the staff as clearly the landlords EQ is found wanting and his demeanour towards customers simply appalling. On the upside - if this was the landlord I doubt the business will survive under his leadership and he will be moved on. It was a great pub with good food in a fantastic location. Shame.

It comes with no bread which I think should be included, the bread was £8 for six slices. That is ridiculous , anyway we did not have to pay for it as we told him how upset we were about the crab salad. Chips were lovely and cooked well. Also liked the padro peppers. A real shame as it's such a great location by the river. Pub interior desperately needs a refurbishment, mens toilets were mostly out of order, decor jaded etc. Exterior is much better, sofas & cushions and lovely "Bridge" room and terrace. Food menu (on paper so looks hastily prepared) is much changed from our last visit last year and offers very limited choices, which was disappointing. Food was just OK , prices typical of most pubs, so doesn't offer great value really - we'd think again about revisiting for food! Apart from positives on location and external areas, the staff were excellent - friendly and attentive! All in all, a missed opportunity by Fullers Brewery to have something really special.

A friendly pub in a great location. However, recently they have amended their menu and vastly reduced the number of options available and seem to have put prices up. Fish and chips (without any mushy peas, just battered fish and some chips) was £18 today!! It's such a shame as the previous offerings on the menu were amazing, and we always struggled with our decision due to so many good options. Also, the dessert menu was a chocolate brownie or a choice of several ice creams, which to me isn't much of a dessert menu... What was our go to "pub lunch" will now likely be avoided for food, which is a great shame.

Decent food but pricey. It has a great view of the river. It also has free parking so that's super helpful. Would recommend.

We walked into the Bridge - with some friends, and as we have done for the last 20 years living in Shoreham, we walked through the pub and went to see if there were any tables free in the back garden. Before we got to the door. We heard someone in a raised voice say "excuse me...what are you doing? Can I help you?" We explained that we were going to see if there was a free table outside. The guy explained it was customary to greet staff in a pub before you go outside. I'm 53, It's not my first time in a pub. I didn't realise this was a formal requirement. All 6 of us were genuinely taken aback by the guys abruptness. So I can tell you that I'm not over reacting here. He said there was a sign at the bar telling people this. We asked where the sign was. It was a small A4 chalkboard sitting on top of the bar. We did not see it as there were people standing in front of it. Maybe have a second sign on the bar telling people not to stand in front of the other sign that's on the bar, oh hang on.... So I would just like to apologise to the guy (new owner?) for not reading the sign. We all genuinely missed it. I'm sorry that we walked into the pub without formally greeting the staff and I'm sorry that we went to walk out into the back garden. As we were made to feel so unwelcome we left, He gave us a very sarcastic goodbye. It was genuinely one of the most bizarre interactions I've had in terms of customer service. We are now taking a good hard look at our behaviour and reflecting on what we did. We're doing this at the pub next door, the Crown and Anchor. Oddly enough, the six of us just walked into the garden sat down and are now enjoying some beers and food. We didn't see any sign but we might have missed it. You might want to pop next door and tell them about the new rules. They don't seem to know about them. It's such a shame because it used to be a really friendly pub.

Lovely location with a really nicely done outside area, didn’t get a chance to have any food but drinks were nice. The real shining star was the staff, they were super fun and friendly and also helpful and made the whole experience even better

Came on Sunday lunchtime with family, tweens and dogs. Friendly staff and great roast dinners, beef was excellent and the pork belly was fantastic. Kids had chicken tenders, chunky chips and halloumi fries, big portions and needed help to finish them. Lovely outdoor area with plenty of space for everyone including a more sheltered heated area. I recommend this place, looks a little unloved at the entrance, but don't be put off going in.

Welcomed by very friendly staff, love this! A couple of us met for lunchtime drinks and some good food. We had a selection of starters rather than a dish each, and enjoyed sitting out the back which was great, with a great selection of covered and uncovered seating, looks good too. The interior desperately needs updating but I appreciate that it's not a simple, or cheap job, especially in these current times for pubs. The food was generally very good. We had the mussels which were great, and well presented, a great source and some crispy bread. We also had the chicken starter which was nice, with a lot of flavour on the outside of the chicken but not really in the chicken itself, still lovely though. The crispy calamari starter we ordered was more soggy than crispy which was a shame but it was still tasty and portion sizes were good (portion sizes with all the food were good), and some fries which were great. Two pints and plenty of food came to around £28. Overall a very good experience, we enjoyed our time chilling, chatting, eating and drinking. Once again I would like to point out that the customer service was superb, some eateries need to go down there for lessons. I would definitely go back, especially on a nice sunny day or evening.

Good friendly service from all the staff. The manager Danny was very helpful when booking and on the day facilitating us at a table outside even though a room had been set aside for us inside. The food was good. No complaints at all. Would be happy to go again.

Tried to go two times now and they haven't been serving food as the woman apparently didn't turn up. It's a big disappointment and has made me unsure about trying to go here again
