I had the sweet potato Dahl with black rice. The rice was a big lump and the Dahl was more like sweet potato cubed up in mash. No sign of a lentil or coconut. It came with lemon which tasted odd with the other elements. Under seasoned but edible. My friends had a vegan burger and beef cheeseburger but both said it lacked flavour and the chips were over salted. I had the vegan peanut butter brownie with ice cream. It was not a brownie. It was a very nice chocolate cake with a thin peanut butter sauce. No idea what the three drops of green garlick liquid were supposed to be. I think it was the dressing for my friends humus dripped on my plate by mistake when serving. Apparently the beetroot humus was quite nice.Service was good.

I like this pub because of the colourful glazed green and mustard coloured tiling and its location. They have preserved the pub's outside appearance outside and I like the way it has been decorated inside, with big wooden tables and comfy leather chairs. It feels authentic. The pub's very handy for Bromley North station. I haven't tried the food. The range of beers is good, and changes. When I visited they had Marstons and other quality beers on offer. On a warm day the beer garden at the back is a great place to sit and talk, although it's a bit small, and the low wall lets you watch people as they walk along North Street.

The drink selections good, the staff are knowledgeable around it and willing to offer advice. Music playing is eclectic and never overbearing, bands play from time to time and are of a good standard. A group of 10 of us visited this pub on 21st April for my wife's birthday drinks but we won't be returning again as the bar staff were rude and quite frankly very disrespectful. I began my order but as some of the party hadn't made their minds up quick enough the female bar tender lost patience and very loudly (and sarcastically) said 'WOW' by way of complaint. I was surprised and apologised for any slight delay but her attitude simply stank, I then suggested that she might be in the wrong job, after which she just stared at me with a blank expression - very weird.

My daughter, whom my wife and I were visiting, booked this pub for 4pm on the following day (Mothering Sunday). We arrived 5 minutes early and had some drinks and ordered the 3 same roasts. We were shown a table, if you could call it that as it was no more than 16” wide x 36” long, located in the Snug area adjacent to the doors leading to the first toilets. Above our seating area the paper was hanging from the ceiling and the general décor looked as if it had not been touched for a decade. As it was busy we could have understood if there had been a 30 minute wait for the 3 bog standard roasts to turn up but in the event it turned out to be almost a full hour without any apologies from the staff. But what was really bad was the lingering smell of what resembled that of a dead rat tucked away somewhere in the fabric of the building. I’m not normally a fussy person but going up the stairs to the toilets was a shock as it reminded me of some of the derelict buildings I used to inspect before major refurbishment or demolition. The smell was even stronger in the landing areas leading to several rooms before you arrived at the toilets. I did wonder if there was a dead body in one of the rooms as the smell did not seem to emanate from the toilets themselves.

Celebrated my birthday here on Sunday. We were a group of 26 adults and children, so we had reserved "The Living Room" space which was perfect for our requirements and sat everyone comfortably for a Sunday roast, however it was a nice day so when not eating we made good use of the lovely pub garden. The roast itself was delicious, maybe a little on the small side but this allowed space for dessert which was also very nice. The manager was so accommodating for our large group, especially with a few people running late so having to push back the time for the food to be served and a few people who had not provided pre-orders and ordering at the last minute. The cost was also great, our group were impressed. Both adults and children had a great time, children were entertained by having space to play in the garden and also by the supply of colouring pencils and colouring in books in the pub - great touch.

I really like this pub. I usually walk 5 miles over from Blackheath to get a beer here. I like a nice Moretti. And they have it on tap. Problem is the last 3 times I've walked over here there is no Moretti. And that's a big problem when you walk 5 miles for a Moretti. Today it was a choice between Heineken, which is for 14 year olds who have no idea about lager, and Sagres, which tastes like a nasty cider with lager flavouring. How hard is it to manage lager supply and demand so that there is always a Moretti available? It's not hard. My 101 year old grandma could do that. But the Railway can't. If they sorted out this criminal Moretti issue the world would be a lot better

I love the general feel of pubs in the Antic group - they tend to favour the original shabby without much chic, but it works. Have lunched in The Railway Tavern a few times and although not the best of the Antic pubs it has still been decent. Sunday lunch recently, however, did not hit the spot. Possibly my own fault for not checking the menu more carefully before ordering. Organic roast chicken and the trimmings. I expected chicken breast or sliced chicken - maybe my expectation set this up to be a wrong 'un as the menu didn't actually say that when I later double checked it. The chicken turned out to be a drumstick and the bony end of the breast joint with a wing. The most meat to be found was on the drumstick. Two small roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, a few carrots and some broccoli, very thin gravy. And very tepid. Not hot, definitely off cold. Back it went to be replaced with the same but hotter. A real disappointment. Certainly not the best Antic food I've experienced.

A group of 14 friends went for an Xmas dinner and had really good food at a reasonable price and cheerfully and efficiently served - quite an achievement with a large party. The Railway Tavern has been taken over by a chain that specialises in bringing back to life old pubs that have character but had verged on dereliction. The policy seems to be to add facilities, redecorate and expand opening hours when trade warrants it - hence, the Railway (opposite Bromley North Station) is a work-in-progress that has got the important things right. It is well worth a visit.

When I arrived there were 2 staff behind the bar, one texting on her mobile, the other serving a customer. When the 'working' member of staff finished, she served me and was extremely friendly and helpful. Ordered food too and that was fine. As we were finishing the food though a 'pack' of large dogs entered the pub and ran loose. The pub did not seem to mind, albeit people were trying to eat. Not healthy or desirable to eat in a replica of Battersea Dogs Home. Clearly had to leave and can see no reason to come back, unless the pub management act in a more professional way.

The burger here is unbelievable, how is this place not higher on here? i consider myself a burger expert and have eaten burgers all across london from daniel buloud and gordon ramsey to Brixton market, this burger is up there with honest burger and patty and bun. The best burger outside london hands down and possibly the best ive had overall.

Food and atmosphere is really like being in London. love the fact it's a bit ram shackled and think that's the idea. I understand they spend the money in a good chef. Been there quite a lot and would say that it's excellent when the head chefs is there. Great joint for Bromley. Also they've got their hands in the Royal Bell due to open next year. That's a best from the past

Great craft beer selections. The most amazing roast beef and trimmings. Hubby was impressed. Had the sausage and mash and could not fault it. The onion gravy was delicious!!! Aiming to go back with my 6 year olds asap. There were several families and lots of board games!!

Popped in here for a few drinks prior to eating elsewhere on Sunday lunchtime. Service was good and the outside seating area was fine. There seemed to be a lot of people eating Sunday Roasts so may take that option next time. Décor was quirky. Shabby chic is the technical term I believe. My father said he expected Steptoe and Hercules to appear around the corner which I thought was a little harsh. As someone who remembers what this establishment was like 20+ years ago – today’s version is a definite improvement. Mens toilets could do with updating.

This roast just keeps getting better. We popped in last minute to find they serve a roast till much later than most on a sunday. This was great as we have had a couple of roast before and they have exceeded expectations. This time the beefs seemed even more tasty and tender and there was a welcomed addition of cauliflower cheese on my plate. The staff here come across extremely well and it is one of my favourite places to eat.Good beers too.

This a place that we have been meaning to try for a Sunday Roast for a while and we were not to be disappointed... looks like a regular boozer from the outside but it had a great atmosphere. The food was obviously made to order, it was pipping hot, everything was freshly cooked and thankfully there was not a cooked from frozen vegetable in sight... Only tiny thing was the Horseradish (homemade) but needed bit of extra zing. Can't wait to return!!

Enjoyed a very pleasant meal on a Thursday. Had a meal and a drink deal. The place was packed even before 7pm, we had to hunt for a seat.

Had a few beers and snacks last night whilst there for the quiz, was a last minute decision and we were lucky to get a table, best quiz I've been too and the sausage rolls and buttermilk chicken were amazing. We are planning to make their quiz night a regular thing. As a pub, the staff are very friendly and the choices of beers and snacks is excellent

This is a lovely pub to have a drink in, there is a beer garden, good range of wines available and lots going on but...The food is really bad, I tried the "signature" railway burger and couldn't finish it. The meet was bad quality and the chips tasted disgusting (not sure how you can mess up chips?!). We are frequent visitors here and will be returning, just not for food.

There are some ok roasts to be had in bromley, and its safe to say i have tried most places, this however was the best yet, roast veg, potatoes done properly etc. friendly staff and nice to sit outside. Starters were excellent too. Way above typical pub food

Came in here for a Sunday lunch with family and the food didn't disappoint. The spatchcock chicken was really well cooked and full of flavour. The other people I was with had the roast beef and gave it full marks. The beer is kept well and they have a good selection of ales. The only negative was the sterile atmosphere, but you have to expect that with newly gentrified pubs.

I used to work in Bromley every day and would pass The Railway Tavern which was closed and wish I could get inside for a drink and food as it always looked like a lovely old building with so much more character than a Wetherspoons or a O'Neills etc etc. Thankfully the pub is now open and I got to have a look at last.I didn't stop for food but I will definitely be back to try some just based on first impressions. The ales on tap were inviting and well-kept, it's nice to see some interesting choices available and the prices were decent too. I visited with a friend and we took a little walk around to check out the decor which was fun and quirky and made us both smile. I really liked the back rooms with it's vintage/upcycled feel and the room next to the kitchen with the china on the walls. The beer garden is a little tatty but obviously cared for and has been tidied up a bit with picnic benches and a small covered area. Some of the benches were a bit knackered but it was nice to have the option to take a drink out in the fresh air and I can imagine if they decided to do BBQs or hog roasts they might attract a decent crowd.I guess the only problem is that The Railway Tavern, while an attractive, green tiled, period building, is quite far away from the central hustle and bustle of Bromley. It is the first pub you hit on your way from Bromley North stations in the newly refurbished nightclub area so hopefully it will attract people and do well.I will certainly be back to try the food as the menu looked really good, and the staff were really friendly and smiled despite it being a grey and quiet Sunday afternoon.

Welcome addition to Bromley particularly as it offers outdoor seating in the town centre. Staff are friendly and helpful (let me use a phone charger and kept an eye on my phone whilst it was charging) and the food looks good - look forward to trying their Sunday lunch after the favourable reviews on here.
