Popped in for a carvery with the family as we fancied one. Meat and potatoes were fine, as I’d expect for the only fresh food available. Everything else is clearly frozen and boiled within an inch of its life. Do not order a Sundae, you will be greeted with a pre-made cup of “ice cream” served in a glass with canned cream to look palatable which was rather ridiculous for the price. Service was slow, plates were not cleared and we won’t be back.

The food may well be nice, but we didn't stay to find out! It was like a cattle market. People queue right through the dining area and its all very crushed. I pitied the poor people who were trying to eat with people jostling past them. We had booked for Sunday lunch , but left and WON'T be going back. Definitely one to avoid.

Staying a few days in Anglesey we spotted the Carvery sign and expected a reasonable meal in pleasant surroundings. Sadly our dog was not welcome so we had to take a table outside at the front. The party at the adjacent table were speaking loudly and swearing almost constantly. A beef curry was below par and a beef carvery meal was incinerated - very disappointing. Prices would have represented good value but quality poor.

Pubs outside needs complete overhaul. Inside of pub needs some attention . Service not good barman took my order and stood there talking to a punter while I was still waiting happened with both my drinks. Drinks were very expensive. This pub used to be my local for many years and was one of the best pubs in the crays for many years. Haven't visited it for a few years and was shocked. it's one of the only pubs left in Cray. pitty it's gone this way.

Arrived 12pm , Waited 40 mins after opening before they even opened the carvery, children were fed up of waiting by then... to then be told there was a futher wait for the ham ( son only wanted the ham so we had to wait, again ) 13.05 we ended up having food, and it was awful!! Mash was bland, tastless lumpy mush dont know how they could serve it, gravy was like water, veg was dry and tastless... we were going to order desserts but i wasnt going to waste any more money so we all got up and left most of the food... wont come here again!

Went with family on a Sunday tea time, never again - the meat was so dry it crumbled rather than cut when 'carving' - veg was bland and boiled to death... nothing to recommend unless you want a foot high plate of boiled blandness - which works for some I guess based on the stacked up plates I saw, but not for me, if I pay decent money I want decent food - and it's not cheap.

Thank you to the lady who made our visit very welcoming today! She made the whole experience top notch and interacted with my children in a warm way. Nothing was a problem and seemed genuinely caring. Classic pub interior, and was very cosy. The food was great and very enjoyable all-round, and a degree of flexibility with accompaniments too! Definitely a locals pub but not one where you seemed out of place. Friendly, cosy atmosphere, and fully inclusive. Good drinks choices. We will return some time, despite not living locally! Perhaps in the summer when we can get use of the beer garden which equally looks cosy! Again, thank you for your hospitality! Cheers!

Stopped here for a quick Monday lunch. Didn't fancy the carvery - low traffic meant very dried-out offerings - so decided on simple Fish n Chips. The fish was a bit small (not the whale-sized fillet shown in the pics) and wasn't the price shown on the exterior adverts. But, it was fine, and the chips were decent. Overall, it was OK, but I'm not rushing to return.

A pleasant carvery lunch mid-week. Service was quick and the food was plentiful. The meat (beef, ham, turkey - you can have all three) was good quality and each portion was large - too large for children. The vegetables were varied but had been standing some time by the time we are at 13.30 ish. Good value and happy courteous staff. There is adequate parking and a nice well kept children's play area

Popped In for a Sunday carvery, Restaurant was vey busy so was hoping for a cracking meal. We were seated in the bar, on bay stools to high for the tables. A tv in the corner playing a music channel was very unpleasant. Carvery was well over priced, meat was pretty good to be fair but the vegetables were bland and unseasoned. Roast potatoes were very poor and frozen Yorkshire puddings for £15 was very disappointing. I ate about 10% of my plate and left the rest. Visiting family for Christmas, (I'm from Lincolnshire), was shocked how rediculously expensive everything was in Bromley including even basic food, l could have a 3 course meal in Lincoln for price of a starter is some of the places here!! The Terrace Cafe was a breath of fresh air, really acceptable prices, big menu and good quality food, surprised also on the decent portion sizes. Not surprised they were busy! (I'm writing this review while still in the cafe). Well done guys.

Used to be such a good coffee, but the last few times were horrible. The baristas don't know how to heat oat milk and just burn it. Water glasses were filthy, probably from washing in same water as stuff covered in batter mix. Great crepes, but elsewhere for coffee!

The Shortlands Tavern is a perfect local friendly pub, family and dog friendly. Great beers and Sunday roasts plus positive attentive staff. If more pubs were like the ST they wouldn’t be under threat. Top marks on atmosphere ( you can actually have a conversation ) , service ( the staff really value customers) and food plus beer ( definitely try the Heart of Darkness. One third of the tables had a dog present, one third families with kids. An experience worth the money.
