After attending Beckenham Beacon today with a 94 year old client of mine, we were sent to minor injuries ti see a doctor. I found the lady on reception there to Be so rude and of no professional courtesy at all, I watched her treating people with no consideration to them being unwell at all, and really didn’t care ! I even expressed my concern to the Doctor when we were eventually called in to be seen , he couldn’t apologise enough, it was like everyone knew how rude this lady was and yet she continued with her rudeness. Not good at all

I would have got better medical advice from a youtube video than the so called 'doctor' I saw today. Making assumptions about a patient's symptoms rather than investigating is often what leads to misdiagnosis and God knows what else. (My ear was blocked because of a recent plane flight not a virus) I wasted my time coming here today. If the best you can do as a Doctor is to say "take paracetamol", maybe it's time you reconsidered your profession.

The staff in the walk in centre are rude and talk to you in a downgrading way, after a 20 minute wait I list all my symptoms and show her a severe face rash and list my symptoms and she reads a poster on the wall and goes "right you can go to the pharmacy for this, is this a 911 emergency?" After measuring my temperature with a BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR?? And says yeah you havent got a fever, sends me to the pharmacy who then says I have to wait another 2 hours to get a pharmacist to see me. Absolute bs

Visited Beckenham Beacon after a severe foot injury at 12:30 and was given paracetamol before being left to wait for hours. After four and a half hours in pain, I was finally seen, only to be told—predictably—that I needed an x-ray. Considering a brick had fallen on my foot, it was obvious an x-ray was necessary from the start. Why this wasn’t done in the hours I waited is beyond me. To be fair, the staff seemed to be trying, but they were clearly overwhelmed, under-resourced and struggling to keep up with the demand. The facilities themselves are nowhere near adequate for the volume of patients they’re expected to handle. Elderly patients and young children were forced to wait in distress for hours, with little to no communication on when we’d be seen. Some people were even advised to seek help elsewhere—hardly reassuring after such a long wait. Beckenham Beacon feels less like a healthcare facility and more like a chaotic holding pen. The NHS claims to uphold a duty of care, yet this place fails spectacularly to meet even basic standards. It’s disheartening to see the staff stretched so thin and patients left without adequate support.

I went to Beckenham Beacon as thought I had broken my toe. They are open from 8am to 8pm. I arrived at 7.10pm and was seen by triage nurse then doctor. She said I needed an xray but the xray dept closes at 7pm. I was told to go to the PRUH. I questioned why on earth does xray close an hour before and was told it had been like that for 20 years!!!!! So I went to the PRUH and clogged up A&E when there was no need to. They really need to streamline all this!

I hate coming to this centre. The receptionists are so rude, no good morning nothing, they disclaim your personal info (address specifically) loud and clear and everyone in the waiting room can hear it. The black nurse lady is just awful. Speaks super loud too, door is always open again everyone waiting know exactly what’s happening, theres no patient privacy at all. She completely ignores anything you say, cuts you off, just rude and unprofessional. Doctors unfortunately are no better, some even look like they have no clue on what their doing. There’s a huge staff issue in this urgent care and most important patients are not treated with dignity and care, and are denied privacy, having their personal info and medical issue said loud in front of everyone. Awfull

I am a nurse who works in Beckenham Beacon Hospital. The manager is so greedy for money and will not help out hospital staff at all with either a staff discount or even asking for a simple request like a buttered roll (even though he has rolls and has butter) he will only sell you one if you buy it with his fillings and then charges you for a very expensive sandwich. I will NEVER use this cafe again.

0 star. This Urgent Care needs to fire the entire staff who work in the front office. The receptionists are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, NO COMPASSION, and LAZY. Some of the doctors are unprofessional and lack empathy for their patients. The wait time is ridiculously long and you’re told at times after waiting for several hours that you cannot be seen because they’re getting ready to close. No matter what time you get there the receptionists look as if they do not want to be there (ALL OF THEM) if you do not want to work then quit. They lack empathy and compassion towards the patients and should not be in the medical profession. The doctors need to be more respectful in the way they speak to the patients as well, they talk to you as if you’re wasting their time, they do not listen. The only respectful employee so far is Alvin Nurse Practitioner. It’s employee’s like these who give the NHS system a bad reputation. Yet you see them protesting for better pay and they sit on their @$$ doing nothing while the patients sit in the waiting room suffering for hours. Shameful!!

Awful service. My 3 year old son had an infected finger and was told by the local pharmacy to go to Beckenham Beacon to see a doctor. We arrived at 2.30pm. The triage nurse was very rude and dismissive, rolling her eyes and saying he didn’t need to be there. Why work in a job providing care when she seemed so disinterested? I said we’d been told to attend and he’d had the same thing before and had needed antibiotics. After an hour, I took my son to the nearby park as he was restless. When we left, the receptionist said we were 9th on the queue. We returned an hour later to be told we were tenth on the queue. We left and will try to get an appointment elsewhere. We understand services are stretched but it was awful, from the timings to how we were spoken to.

I wish I could give 0, I am writing this review to make people aware that they are in very uncapable hands here. I visited this centre on Sunday 19th of May, following a laparoscopy surgery I had some weeks before. One of the 3 wounds was leaking and I wanted to make sure it was not infected. The nurse who assisted me was very friendly but completely incompetent. He checked all 3 wounds, one of which looked pretty bad to me. He confirmed all was good, no infection, no need to worry and asked me if I wanted the (resorbable) stitches removed. Since I am not a doctor, I suggested he should do what he thought was the best thing to do. I find absolutely appalling that they put this kind of responsibility on patients when they are the expert. Long story short, just a few days after, I was forced to visit a different clinic to have necrosis tissue removed from a very infected wound, which this gentleman confirmed was perfectly fine hours apart. The infection was so deep I ended up having to keep a 3x1cm deep raw flesh hole in my abdomen for weeks, before it was recovered enough to be closed again. Nonetheless, I had to see a plastic surgeon to have an excision surgery to enable the closure of this wound, following painful procedures to support the healing ahead. This level of incompetency almost risked me a sepsis and led to make an already existing infection much worst than what it was. I should sue this place really. People please be careful visiting this centre, clearly they do not know what they are doing!

Attended urgent care centre on advice of 111. Receptionist was lovely but there is no privacy so you are telling the whole waiting area all your private details and health condition. It was quite empty so I was seen quite quickly by a triage nurse who was being very blasé about what i was saying then told me he was only joking. I told him that I wasn't in the mood for joking as I was in pain. Medical staff did not seem interested in what I had to say. Felt that they weren't really listening and did not take me seriously as they just wanted to rush me out. I left feeling that I would have been better going to Accident and Emergency at another hospital to get my injury checked properly.

Disgusting reception!!!!! Why consistent rudeness with anybody who works in a service ironically meant to CARE? Do they even know what that means???? The attached photo is of an extremely RUDE receptionist who, by her words, REFUSED to help me because she literally said she 'didn't want to'. Disgusting. Nurse I saw was extremely rude, strange, didn't even know how to use the most basic equipment, evidently from how he continued to try to restart it to no avail 😂 and then use 2 other ones since those weren't working, and you call this an organised service which you can trust to help you???? This kind of 'service' is wrong on so many different levels that official complaints need to be put in order. When I politely asked the nurse a question he obviously didn't like, he got up very abruptly like somebody who wants to attack somebody - I don't expect this kind of 'service' that is supposed to be of a 'healthcare' service and a hospital.

Been under their care if you can call it that any longer. I will say the hospital trust has gone through the floor over the last few years. Prior to this and I've been a patient 10 plus years they were amazing. However Care to me doesn't mean a doctor more interested in eating biscuits with a condescending look on his face than showing any care or consideration for a patient pleading for help. Or offering no help but to pass the buck to gps or A and E. Especially when the procedures dont go to plan and your just left to pick up what pieces you can. I will not go back here or the pruh unless I am forced to. Its a real shame as I could not fault them before. They in my opinion were the pride of the NHS.

Absolutely brilliant care provided at BB. Came in with a horrible tooth abscess on a Sunday morning at 10:00 am. I had the possibility of getting a same day appointment which I am very happy for. I was seen within 15 minutes of appointment time. The nurse and dentist were both lovely and skilled. They looked everything over, told me the diagnosis and then gave me plenty of advice in how to feel better. The dentist wrote me a script for the medication I need and I was out within 20 minutes but feeling a lot more positive. Was able to pick up medication same day. Again this was all on a Sunday which we all know how hard it is to get seen by a doctor. Thank you so much to the dental team at BB.

I was referred by 111 for a blood test due to high BD and being unwell. When I attended my appointment, the receptionist at the Walk-in Centre said 'They don't do blood tests and she didn't understand why 111 referred me to them'. She dismissed my appointment and asked me to wait like the other patients to see a nurse. It was a fully seated centre with a few standing, a woman was yelling and the atmosphere was stressful. I'm appalled by the lack of care service when we need it. I had to leave with high palpitations and anxiety.

I am very disappointed with my entire experience after visiting UCC on 30th of December. Initially triaged by very young locum nurse who wasnt even aware that there was an x-ray on the premises and advised me that I will probably not be seen (it was 2.40 and centre closes at 8pm) and that I should probably make my way to a&e anyway. As it waa extremly difficult for me to walk due to trauma to my ankle and I wasnt able to waight beare I decided to wait. It took almost 5 hours to be seen by trauma nurse (no complaits there, very knowledgable). No diagnoses on the day or any time afterwards. Report from x-ray signed off after 5 days only after PALS got involved (not sure why centre is called urgent care....). Every time I called to ask about results and furher plan, I was told that nurse will call me back but nobody did. One receptionist, when asked about her name said to me that I am "funny" asking that question and refused to provide her name. Every time I waa told that it is not a good time... As an NHS staff, I was very let down and disappointed with how disorganized everything was and that in the end I had not received any help, advice or treatment. Centre clearly more focused on seeing people with cough and colds and other infections than injties or trauma.

As someone else mentioned, blood test system is messed up. They didn't seem to care about appointments and the nurse basically called in whoever happened to be sitting closest to the entrance to the blood test rooms. I watched a bunch of people who had later appointments than me get called in first. Thought it was coincidence until I'd waited ten minutes past my appointment time and asked one of the nurses, who muttered something under her breath about me being late, although I had been sat on a chair a little further away for almost 45 mins!!! Got taken to urgent care after a fall and some damage to my ankle. Nurse didn't make me move around as I was clearly in pain and couldn't walk and double checked everything with colleagues before medication etc as I'm pregnant and ensured that X-ray knew to take precautions due to pregnancy before I even got there. Annoyingly due to covid, my husband could not assist me to x ray and I struggled there on crutches, but some lovely volunteers wheeled me back to urgent care where I was seen by nurse practitioner within half an hour and looked after well. Follow up from fracture clinic was prompt and friendly too!

The staff at the Urgent Care Unit are super nice and friendly, their receptionists are lovely and compassionate. I had an emergency surgery at Croydon University Hospital at the start of the year and went to Beckenham Beacon for my daily dressing changes when my own GP surgery fobbed me off. I was feeling quite emotional when I started coming due to the emergency nature of my surgery but the staff really put me at ease and tried to help me get appointments at my own GP surgery. Waiting times varied, there was sometimes a long wait (a couple of hours) and other times not as long (within half an hour), depending on how many people walked in that day. The staff were so great and it’s just a reminder of how lucky we are to have a free healthcare service. Incredibly reassuring that they’re not too far away.

Asked if anyone could help me do a Covid-19 swab test since I had a self test with me but was unsure I could do it myself, was told in a rude way that the nurses there or any other staff are not trained to do a swab and that I should have not even been let through the main gate. Even if I had a fever or any other symptoms this is still not a way to treat someone. It's a swab, not brain surgery.

Professional staff in the urgent care centre. Lovely radiologist. Extra measures taken to keep patients (and staff) safe during the pandemic. Clean and fairly quick turnaround.

The blood department is bad....if the nurses spent more time taking blood and less time chatting bout their plans they would see more people...

Due to the general pressures on the health service you can wait a while and it can be hard to get an appointment but once in there my experience has been nothing but positive. They are always so helpful and friendly, and make an effort to put you at your ease. They are also very responsive by phone and email. Parking is a nightmare though!

Excellent, friendly and personable service. The only thing that lets it down is the small waiting area, which does not have enough seats for patients when really busy

Went into Urgent Care Centre, colleague in need help after work injury. Over 1.5 hours until it closed, Nurse donna came to reception and refused him medical treatment as she said they closed at 8pm. Then started arguing with him when he asked if there was any way she’d see him. Surely this is neglect? This is not down to cutback. It’s poor attitude and being in the wrong line of work. Two seconds later I hear her arguing with someone else!!

We had an amazing roast at the elm tree today. The staff always go above and beyond. A special mention to Niall for his professionalism and friendly welcome. James who is the pillar of customer service and has such gravitas. Finally to Chelsea who always is smiling. We are lucky to have this pub as our local. Thank you all

Had a really lovely dinner with friends last night. I am gluten free and have a few other food intolerances which can be problematic when eating out but the chef came out to talk with me and made me a beurre blanc sauce instead of the provencale sauce which featured on my salmon dish. I was super impressed as usually the sauce would just have been omitted leaving me with a dry dinner! Thank you so much for going above and beyond. We all really enjoyed our meal, so will definitely return and recommend the Bulls Head to others
