First visit to The Railway Inn Dinmore. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. 1 adult had an allergy to a foodstuff, staff were able to advise which meals were suitable - majority of meals, but Chef would accommodate as meals were freshly prepared. Booking advisable. Wait a while for your meal as its freshly prepared but well worth the wait. Good presentation of food, hot, tasty good quality. Off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. Beautiful location and tasteful décor. Will certainly visit again.

My Father and I arrived at approximately 7.15 PM on a Saturday night-upon ringing, we were advised that we should arrrive promptly as there was a large party due to arrive later. We therefore arrived promptly, only to find we were the only people there-including any staff! The bar was unmanned and I almost started to help myself, due to lack of 'people' seemingly available! Eventually a fairly scruffy woman appeared, who positioned us at a table (on my request) near to the extremely large fireplace, which, I assumed, was about to be imminently lit. Alas, the staff had not bothered to run out to the garage and pick up any logs (etc), and we were told ''we have run out of logs.'' Thus, what could have been an atmospheric, warm ambiance was reduced to being placed next to an electric stand up radiator-not good. A wood fire makes an enormous difference to a country pub in Winter, and it is disappointing that the sloppy waitress hadn't bothered to visit the garage to improve the atmosphere. The pub has 2 fireplaces for info, neither of which were lit. The pub was cold and spartan, and service distinctly average. The garlic prawns were served on soggy white bread-the prawns themselves were actually very good. The selection of bread and oil could be slightly more generous, rather than serving only one wedge of what appeared to be ASDA tiger bread. The trout itself was good-but served with no vegetables-only capers and new potatoes?! I had to ask for further veg. My father fared better with his choice of main course-pie and something ele, which seemed very hearty. There was no sign of the large party which was due to show up... In total, there were no more than 10 people there that night. The place was absolutely freezing, and when we complained, the sloppy waitress tried to move us to an exposed table. Why not just light the fire????!!!!! Other things were noticeable in the lack of detail-the entrance to the Inn is via a small stepped incline-obviously in the dark in Winter. This was not lit, and people of limited vision may struggle during the dark months. Small things like this were very noticeable. In short: Waitress needs to smarten herelf up Sloppy customer service needs improving Serve decent amounts of veg with food BUY SOME LOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't revisit this place again-lots of other places in the area which are better value for money and feel like proper country pubs.....

Our family of six and dog were made most welcome. Everyone enjoyed their meals which were served hot, delicious and good value. There is a good grassed area beside the river to walk the dog. Road to the Inn is narrow and needs a little care.

Great to see this country pub open again after what seemed like a long period of closure. The staff are very friendly and chatty. The food was fantastic but took a little time to arrive, but it was made fresh and cooked to order and was so worth the wait!! If anything the wait made the evening last longer and more enjoyable so if you're not in a rush and want to enjoy great food in a rural pub then this is the place to go!

Stopped for Sunday lunch on way home from South Wales . Fantastic setting, very friendly and helpful staff. We ordered the roast beef Sunday lunch which was lovely but the highlight for me was the ginger cheesecake - best desert I’ve eaten in a long while. Thank you Sophie x

Food good, but service appalling as we were the only ones there and had to disturb the staff from their chatting before we could place an order for main course and the same for the dessert

Was sorry to see the local pub close last year, but the new management took over just before Christmas. Since then, I have visited numerous times, and the food has been of equally high standard every time! A small, varied menu, executed perfectly. Very reasonably priced, and lovely hosts. Well worth a visit!

Nice place, but when asking about nuts in the carrot cake the girl didn't know. Shouldn't rain their staff on anaphylaxis and its dangers.

Friendly staff. Efficient. Helpful. Food was delicious. Clean restaurant. Would have liked proper home cooked Yorkshire puddings not frozen.

Walk-in at 6.00 on a Saturday evening, as we happened to be in the area and lived the look of the menu. Nobody greeted us, but we asked the lady who appeared to be in charge whether they were serving food that evening. She rolled her eyes. The conversation then went as follows: Her: Have you booked? Us: no, I'm afraid we haven't. Her: Huh. (Rolls eyes again, goes over to the bookings list). It's very quiet, but I don't really want to do any more today. Us:... Her: I suppose I could do 7 o'clock... Us: Don't worry, bye! Her: Huh. No way were we going to give our business to somewhere with such a bad attitude. But it turned out well for us - we ended up at the Lal Bagh Bangladeshi restaurant down the road, and had possibly the best curry we've ever eaten!

Awful service; slow, rude and incompetent don’t bother! There are so many better, faster and competent coffee shops in Hereford.
