The railway in Sedgemoor

I visited this restaurant on Sunday evening and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the service was inattentive and disorganised. We were left waiting far too long to be seated, and once we were, it took even longer for someone to take our order. The food itself was extremely underwhelming — bland, poorly presented, and certainly not worth the price. What made the experience even worse was the cleanliness of the place. The tables were sticky and clearly hadn’t been wiped down properly. It gave the whole restaurant a grubby, neglected feel that made us question the hygiene standards behind the scenes. The most alarming part of the evening, however, was the staff's complete disregard for food allergies. When we asked about allergen information, the manager seemed clueless and unconcerned. This is not just unprofessional — it’s dangerous. For a restaurant to operate without taking allergies seriously is a serious health risk, and it’s something that absolutely must be addressed. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The environment was unpleasant, the staff poorly trained, and the overall experience left a lot to be desired. I strongly believe this venue should be inspected by environmental health authorities. Dining out should never feel unsafe or unsanitary, but sadly, that’s exactly how it felt here.

Great lunch for my wife niece and grand kid's. Booked the table as it was Easter Sunday and we were not disappointed. We had the beef lunch and the kids had someone from the kids menu

A Greene King Pub therefore dog friendly which is I why I chose it. Had fish and chips on Friday and Sunday Lunch today both accompanied by a soft drink. Fast and courteous service and well priced. BUT (a big but) whilst Fridays meal was standard of the 3 pieces of hand carved beef one was almost all gristle. Was a chain saw used to carve? Luckily this piece I gave to my dogs who were happy to gnaw on it. Had the meal been OK I would have given 4*. P.S. The meal was ordered around 3 pm.

We came here yesterday for lunch, the dog friendly element is what first attracted us as we wanted to find somewhere we could bring our pup. Food was perfect, piping hot and tasty, fries and chips were perfectly cooked in clean oil and everything was as it should be. Our server Jo was lovely, attentive and nothing was too much. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back.

We have visited this pub many times over the years on our frequent visits to Burnham On Sea.On the times we have visited we have just came in for drinks and always found the pub very friendly and a nice spot in the town.We went on Sunday so we could watch the Football and decided to have the Sunday lunches and wow it was excellent,the food was very well prepared and excellent value for money and we will definitely be having the food option each time we visit. Just come back from the Railway, despite it being busy, we had a lovely meal. It was our first time trying the Senior Meal deal , 2 courses for £6.49, it was good value and real tasty. The staff were brilliant and very friendly.

We had made an online lunchtime reservation with great ease. There was myself, my chap, our 10 year old son and our well behaved pooch (dog friendly pub). We received a warm friendly greeting on arrival by the lovely bar maid. A good selection of drinks were available. Lovely pub atmosphere. We all chose the beef Sunday Roast with extra pigs in blankets. The food was served very quickly by another lovely waitress. Hot, delicious and fantastic portions. Quite a pleasant lunch of sirloin steak and apple crumble. Bar service was a bit slow due to poor staffing. Please do not ask me about my allergies - it's a lunch not a doctor's appointment.

The staff were very friendly ,the food was delicious and at a very good price. This is a really nice pub. They also allow dogs which is why we chose this pub. There was a great choice of beers and my favourite Thatchers cider.

Needs a refurb (inside and outside) especially the toilets. BUT.....Food and service more than makes up for that. Give it a try.

the railway is a great family and dog friendly pub we found this pub by chance on a weekend break they have a wide range of food on there menu nothing is to much trouble the pub was busy when we got there great atmosphere food cooked perfectly there was five of us all having different meals the meals came out all together we finished the lot and best of all was the great prices highly recommended we will be back soon kind regards keith

After 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting for our 3 meals. Two arrived only to be told they had run out of turkey which was the only option left on work the carvery. To then be told we would have to wait till the chef could cook some chicken as a substitute. The others in our group had all eaten nearly 40 minutes before. Everyone having ordered at the same time. This is no acceptable by any means. The food was good. The waiting time was a joke

I use a Greene's pub when visiting Blackpool(The Washington)always have the steak. So when I saw the Railway I just had to eat there and it didn't disappoint steak was lovely. Enjoyed every bite friendly staff too.

To be honest we went here the first time because the Wetherspoons was heaving. But we are so glad we did! The Railway serves very good food in a comfortable environment for very competitive prices. We enjoyed it so much we went back on Sunday for the roast dinner, which was delicious and very good value for money. The staff are lovely and went out of their way to accommodate our party of 3 adults and 2 children. They do a good kids menu and also a selection of vegan options. The vegan katsu curry got a 5/5 rating!. The only downside is the toilets which could do with a bit of a tidy and clean up. We will definitely go back to The Railway when we are next in Burnham on Sea .

Popped in for lunch first time here so wasn't sure if they seated you, very friendly staff explained everything ,we could sit where we wanted and order at bar when ready. She really couldn't be any more friendly and polite. Food was lovely and considering it was a busy Saturday came out really quick. The only downside was the toilets where really smelly , as in they smelt more like a men's urinal.

This was one of the best roast dinners we have ever had. The meal was nice and hot. Meat so thick and tasty. Staff were all so friendly. Definitely go again. Prompt service. Good value for money. Decent sized portion.

Went for the karaoke on a Saturday night. I had Thatchers spiced apple and a glass of mulled wine and they were both decent prices.

Derrible service We went for our normal Friday lunch ordered food and waiting well over one hour later having to orderg further drinks to await our meal we gave up after 90 minutes asked for a refund after being told there was no manager to take our complaint to be told by a team leader he was sorry. We were not the only other peoples awaiting food to take order knowing you cant' full fill orders in what we was told a 45 minute wait tells me they need more staff and somebody as a manager to be available t hand issues.

Staff are very friendly. The barmaid (Jess?) has great tattoos. But it's a typical Greene King pub, & I had to wait an age, & ask again for my chicken wings. I was offered a free drink to recompense, thank you. Burnham-on-sea I've found out, is not my cup-of-tea. There's nothing wrong with the pub, just not for me, sorry.

We had a great dinner here 3years ago and thought why not try lunch on 4th Sept 2023. It was very hot and we got a table outside in the shade. Great menu. We booked here last week for 10 people. We did try calling to reserve a table but nobody called us back. So we stopped off and went inside to book instead with no issues. The food itself was really nice and great value for money. I realised I was overcharged when an extra meal came out that I didn't order, however it was resolved quickly and a refund was given. Would definitely recommend here if you want good food but at reasonable prices

Me and my family are regulars In Burnham and I have to say the food we ordered and the customer service we had was an absolute joke and this is coming from someone who's worked in hospitality and food for atleast 15 years in alot of different places and it's very rare I even before to leave reviews but after ordering fish & chips and the fish being the size of a cod bite quite literally and the portion size of the majority of our meals being something a child would barely feel full from is annoying. The waitresses/cooks didn't seem to know what was going on and even what day it was, forgot alot of our order when they brought the food out and the only thing they actually seemed interested in was blasting loud music in the kitchen and chatting like it's their day off.

Went for evening food here, very good. Parked on car park 2 minute walk was also free after 6pm. Lovely traditional Pub, clean and well presented. Staff were an absolute joy. Lots of seating inside and out. Gets very busy so expect a wait for your food, completely understandable considering how many people they were serving 😊Gammon Egg and chips with a pint £13 absolute bargin, cooked well good quality and fair sized portion, what more could you ask for.
