Attended a retirement party here. At the same time there was a 70th birthday in an adjacent room. The service was fast and friendly. Catering was excellent, tasty, well presented and hot. Lots of free parking available on site.

Great night with friends having tea and being entertained by the Elvis tribute

Came today for birthday lunch with my husband.....was not disappointed. Both went for the loaded fries, and loaded they were. I have the meatball fries and he had the pepperoni pizza fries. Yum and so filling but did also order some garlic bread to mop up. Dessert also very delicious. Staff friendly and very attentive. Will be returning 100%.

We had an intimate wedding reception for 26 guests, from the moment our wedding party arrived all the way to leaving Richard and his staff were professional, reliable and very approachable.The food, a three course meal was excellent, all the staff did a fantastic job to cater for our needs and nothing was to much for them. Thank you, you helped give us the perfect wedding day!

We held our wedding at the Raggalds in August this year and it was absolutely beautiful, Richard was the perfect host to our guests. The food was wonderful and the room looked magical after Richard had done a marvelous job decorating it, the whole wedding went off without a hitch and all our guests commented on just how much they had enjoyed it, so a huge thankyou to Richard and all his staff

Drastically over priced. My fault I suppose for not checking the prices. I trusted this venue to charge a fair price. More fool me. How much do you think I paid for two not very hot Sunday carveries half a pint of bitter and a tomato juice? £35-00. Yes that's what I thought too! I hate writing bad reviews but this is well deserved. Don't go near the place.

We all had the carvery. It was fantastic. 3 options of meat all tender and juicy, numerous veg options. All served hot and finished off with gravy. Highly recommend for food and drinks. Outdoor seating available. All the staff were attentive and friendly. They also have activities thru the week go check them out. Prices were great too.

Nice place and staff good but the food was awful. Most of us had pizza as it was the theme for that day and they had a wood fired oven outside, so expected good pizza, it's not even a difficult thing to make. The worst pizza I've ever had. No tomato sauce on the base and I've no idea what cheese it was but it was disgusting, definitely wasnt mozzarella. My partner sent hers back and they did offer another one but it was that bad she didn't want it. They took that pizza off our bill in fairness to them. Wont be going back.

Afternoon Tea at The Raggalds OUTSTANDING Many thanks to Richard and his team for a wonderful afternoon tea. The tables were set-up with beautiful China sets and happy vases of flowers. There was a wide variety of sweet goodies with tasty jam and cream scones and a selection of delicious warm savoury treats. We were a large party and we were made to feel welcome throughout with bottomless pots of tea and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Everyone is still talking about and cannot wait for “the next one” Thank you, you gave us a lovely day Peggy White and family August 2024 Gluten Free Afternoon Tea at the Raggalds What can I say, very rarely do I feel that my gluten free afternoon tea is better than a “normal” one but on this occasion, I can truthfully say that I was blown away by the choice and how tasty everything was. No sign of the usual suspect of a dried-up brownie and tasteless crumbling (tiny) scone. The scones were amazing (ate them to quick to take a picture) and what more can I say then yummy in relation to the warm savoury plate of tempura veggies…. I have been gluten free for nearly 15 years and I can say hands down this is one of the best afternoon tea’s I have had anywhere. Being gluten free and eating out is never easy but I can say that Richard and his team went above and beyond to make it just as nice as rest of our party. Cannot wait to go back again. First time experience and we were very impressed. Attending a family wedding reception, it was a great venue. The function room lended itself perfectly for the party size. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Service was spot on with special mention for Charlie behind the bar, nothing was too much trouble.

I booked out the restaurant area for a surprise party of 45 ish people… everything was amazing from start to finish… the place looked great, DJ was great, buffet food was absolutely delicious, all home made, fresh and more than enough to go around. The staff were also amazing, nothing was too much trouble…. We had the best night, so glad we chose this place…. Well done Richard & team ❤️❤️

The Raggalds is a lovely pub restaurant with a function room. It has been all been refurbished and they've done a great job. The beer selection is good with real ales from Timmy Taylor. We had a hot roast beef sandwich, comes with fries or chips and a side salad. Delicious.

Not been for a number of years,very pleasantly surprised. Staff very friendly, prompt service, food hot and well presented.

Didn't have food but met a friend for a catch up and a few drinks (non alcoholic) this afternoon the bar staff were lovely and polite. However, it felt like being in a village hall, Bingo was on in the main dining hall we were in the bar area. The Bingo caller came and told me to be quiet as I was too loud which I thought was incredibly rude. I was trying to have a conversation with my friend. Also saw a small party of people turned away because they were told there was no food being served. Avoid at all costs on Wednesday afternoons because its really just a bingo hall unless of course you want to play bingo!

Didnt appreciate being told I was speaking too loud by the Bingo caller thought it was very rude.

Called in spontaneously during a long dog walk. We have two large dogs and normally places that say dog friendly mean small dog friendly. However, ALL staff here went above and beyond to make us all feel so welcome we were blown away. They said all shapes and sizes of dogs welcome and you can tell they really mean it. Plenty of offers to fill up the dogs water bowl and we felt very comfortable sitting inside. To top it all off great food and drink. Just what we needed. Living in Thornton, we can’t believe we’ve never called in before. We will be calling in regularly now! Thank you all. 🙂

Honestly biggest portion of meat I’ve ever had at a carvery. I asked for a bit of all 3 cuts and he piled the plate up. Will be reccomending to people I know local !

What a great place to have a wedding reception! My lovely friends recently had their Wedding reception here and the staff were fantastic! The whole set up was beautifully done and the food was lovely! Perfect day!

Went on a Wednesday and they have an OAPs afternoon. Unfortunately it was very noisy so as it was a lovely day we sat outside. The local muck spreading didn't help the food go down well. I'm sure on a different day things would have been better. The waitress and staff in general couldn't do enough for us.

Visited The Raggalds today and have to say very disappointing. Ordered 2 x tikka masala curries as the Tuesday special. The curries came which were lukewarm at best. Popadums were very greasy. Had to ask where the free Indian platter was? Platter came, I bit into samosa and it was frozen inside. I told a staff member who apologised and said he would sort it. It was obviously thrown back into fryer and returned to us full of fat. Consequently the platter was left. Overall not a good experience at all.

Popped in at around midday on a Wednesday whilst on a walk because the dog was thirsty (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!). The car park was almost full and it was surprisingly busy inside for a weekday. We sat in the beer garden so the dog could enjoy his pint of water in the shade. Staff were nice and friendly regardless of it being a hot day (let's face it, nobody likes working a busy job in the heat!) Will certainly be back. Can't comment on food as didn't have any today. Only negative for me is the artificial grass and that's being picky.

The place was beautiful but the cost of the food was very expensive for a few sandwiches and chips. Very disappointed

(Collette’s son tryping) Best sunday carvery i have ever been to. No lie. Had no breakfast came here ready to eat and paul (the chef) told me to get 2 plates as my plate was over flowing ! Ate it all and paul asked me if i still had room so he cut me yet another 2 peices of beef!! Dont get that anywhere eles. Definitely will not be visting another cavery place will be back most weekends . Top service top food reasonable cost .

Food was rubbish fed a vegetarian a chicken and ham pie. Tried to rectify the problem by then giving a quorn concoction which was vile. The right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. Would never return

Fantastic. The carvery was great. Not an "eat as much as you can" kind of place but still quality food. Only had the meat but not the veg, did have the potatoes, are they a veg? They are now. The beer was nice too although I only had a lager. My nephew enjoyed his meal too and so did his wife. We nearly caused a mishap with a runaway baby but nothing major

4 of us went for a Sunday Carvery. I, generally am not a fan of carvery’s and this did nothing to change my mind! The joint of beef was of poor quality and the chef was carving it in the wrong direction! All the food was lukewarm and the vegetables especially the broccoli and carrots were undercooked and difficult to even cut with a knife! At £14.95 pp this was not good value!

We visited just over a week ago for impromptu lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming, an excellent choice of drinks including real ales too. Our food and drinks were lovely. The views are fab and it's also spotlessly clean. We will definitely be back again. Thank you for having us

Don't go here if you have allergies. I mentioned 3 times while ordering food that I was gluten free and asked if everything I ordered was gluten free which I was assured it was. My halloumi salad arrived and only when I had started eating it was I told that they had added regular croutons that were not gluten free. I was given a feeble apology and told I wouldn't be charged for the salad (rightfully so!) but it's just not acceptable when serving food to be so irresponsible regarding allergies and intolerances that can have severe health impacts for people. Wouldn't come here for food again until they had provided their staff with proper training regarding allergens.

A great place to host a party as it has a great venue, but it's expensive and once was empty and took 1 hour 30 plus for a pizza

What a wonderful Carvery lunch at the Raggalds on Sunday April 21st enjoyed by 71 of our Grattan Retired Staff Assocation. The food was excellent with very generous portions. A very big Thank You to Richard and his very professional. friendly and helpful staff. The superb music by Ewan who got our people dancing & singing. Richard was his usual self wicked & cool making time to speak to all putting a smile on their faces. Roll on next time. Very much appreciated and thanks from our Committee and Members.

We had our daughter’s 1st birthday party here and it was fantastic. The staff were polite and helpful and the room looked great - nothing was too much trouble and we had a great time - the kids enjoyed themselves as much as the adults. Great selection of drinks on the bar and they provided some delicious coffee and cakes too. Highly recommended - thanks!

Called in on the way to Bronte Museum, wasn't too sure at first as it was empty, and the glass door entrance was covered in smudges, not a good sign. However, we gave it a chance, good section of veg but a bit stingy on the meat, I had two pieces of gammon that combined would not weigh more than an ounce. The glass door was cleaned while we were eating. We believe it gets very busy and booking is required, lucky we got there at 11:30. Would visit again but they need to look at the portions.

I when today with my daughter and 3 grandchildren. The food was amazing and the staff where very helpful. Richard was amazing with my grandchildren. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for lovely day. Will most definitely be coming again

What a venue !! This place gets a triple WOW from me I was sooo impressed with the new(ish) set up, landlord and his wonderful staff. I'd gone there for the first Northern Soul & Motown night with Sweet Soul Music DJ'ing. I'm quite speechless about the whole evening I was so impressed by everything I saw and believe me it didn't really start well at all. I knew I was meeting a group of lovely, long standing friends there but the weather was filthy so we crawled from Boothtown to this venue in a real pea souper & I wondered if it was too bad to actually go there but thanks to a wonderful driver from A Class taxis I made it safely. The place is spotless, the staff and landlord friendly and welcoming and after a full and quite stunning refurbishment I'd honestly recommend this place to any of my close friends whether for a meal, the quiz night or a 'one off' evening event. I didn't eat but the desert cabinet had my mouth watering and all the staff I spoke to were everything they should or could be, helpful, friendly and very well turned out. The Soul & Motown night was excellent with a good mix of both music genres played, there were certainly some good 'Old School' soulers there which is always a good sign, they'll be back and they'll bring their friends. There's an excellent big dance floor so we'd lots of space for strutting out stuff and did a move or two myself lol !! I'm still creaking well now but it is what it is & well worth it. A massive thanks to all concerned, the Sweet Soul Music lads and an excellent venue ( Don't know why we didn't go here before !!) the poshest ladies ever, brilliant staff and venue and nobody to my knowledge has any say in the weather but imagine the views on a good day will be beautiful. Thanks to all concerned for an excellent night out .

I would like to start by saying that this review is not to paint the bar and kitchen staff in a bad light - they were all phenomenally kind, patient and polite for the entire evening and helped to make a horrible situation somewhat bearable. Last night I attended a 40th birthday party for a close friend. Even before the event began, the manager (I believe his name is Richard) reneged on a previous agreement that the hosts could enter the premises at 4pm to set up decorations and food. Instead they could only enter a short time before the event was due to begin, meaning the hosts were then late for their own event. Sometime later, the manager became confrontational with the guest of honour, demanding that we leave due to a small handful of children making a mess. I cannot stress enough that it had been previously agreed that there would be children at this event, and I understand that children making a mess, even with their agreed presence, is a problem. However, if the manager had simply spoken calmly to the parents about reigning in their children's behaviour then there would have been no issue and this review would have recieved more stars. Instead the DJ was told to stop playing music, the event itself came to a standstill for a great amount of time and all the attendees were left dumbfounded and confused as the guest of honour became extremely upset and began to clean up the event space. Even when a handful of guests tried to help her clean, said manager was still being quite hostile. Eventually, and at the behest of other guests, the event continued but the mood had already soured. Many of the families with children left early as they had been made to feel unwelcome, and the guest of honour was left upset, anxious and stressed for the entire evening. When all is said and done, it is the managers job to ensure that all staff - themselves included - are polite and calm when handling matters of customer service. This manager was throughly unprofessional in that regard, ruining what should have been a lovely evening for a very special lady. Instead it has become memorable for all the wrong reasons. I had been excited to visit the Raggald's again after it's reopening, but this horrid situation has ensured that I will not go back.

Been to a few lunch clubs and a Bonkers Bingo which was hilarious.... we had a fantastic time at them all, thoroughly recommended 👌

Come for a meal and stayed for the northern soul evening. This place has something for everyone. Such a great place .

We were first time customers, I had a carvery and my boyfriend had fish and chips. His food came quickly and it was lovely. I think we timed it wrong as the carvery seemed sparse and stuff had run out so was scraping for mash etc but the food was hot and tasted lovely. We will be returning.

Had a party here, however it was obvious the landlord wanted the money and not the guests. As he decided that the kids had got chocolate down the sides of the sofa (they hadn't) adults were sat on them and apparently kids were running round. What can you expect from kids? Other than this person ruining a special lady's birthday, the other members of staff were phenomenal. Though safe to say I will not be using this venue again.

After the experience we have had tonight, would NOT recommend this venue to anybody. 40th Birthday Party 90 guests was told we could set up venue at 4pm to be then told couldn't set up till after 6pm due to them still taking bookings, even though venue was booked 7pm till 12 midnight. They was fully aware that there was kids as well as adults and after 2 hours the manager tried to evict everyone saying lounge was a mess and it was going to cost 3000 to get professional cleaners in. Which was rubbish in itself, the manager had a go with the birthday girl upsetting her and everyone else. This Manager was also verbally abusive and finally said that adults could stay but the kids could not. This venue charged £1300 and after manager ruined the party refused to give a refund or partial refund. On top of this there was also a Celine Dione tribute in the next room. So said manager was quite happy to charge over the top for drinks and quite happy to ruin a family and friends celebration of a 40th birthday evening and even accused a family member who was there with his wife and kids insinuating he was selling drugs which was a total defamination of character. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE, AVOID AND BOOK ELSEWHERE!

I would not recommend this place for food or a party. The host ie Richard is Rude and confrontational. We was at a party this evening and he was rude from the word off. Clearly in my opinion was racist to boot. We had several children at the venue. (never said children wasn't allowed) Of which he made cry. What gives a grown man the right to make children cry. He was not happy that some of the guests had made a mess. I get it but children make a mess if he didn't want children in the premises then he should of stated this at the booking. Not half way through the night. A lot of money was spent on making this evening a great night for the hosts wife birthday but he ruined this at about 10.30. Not only was he disrespectful to the party hosts wife he was like that to several guests. On speaking to others that was there its not the first time. Richard if you are reading this review you and you alone need to have a bit of respect to your paying customer Without us you would not have a business. Being an owner and a manager of an establishment means that you should be level headed and respectful to people. You are neither of these things. Over 80 people attended this party for an amazing young lady and you spoilt it.

Please think twice about having any parties or occasions at the Raggalds, Queensbury. Attended a 40th party last night and it was an utter joke. The room wasn't available from the time promised. The dj was stopped at 9.45pm, due to children getting cake on the seating. Which I appreciate is annoying but the manager was ridiculous. Shouting at the person whos party it was, instead of addressing the parents. Totally ruined the party , the music was put back on but most people went home. The birthday girl was crying, it was just awful 😭 so unprofessional.

Attended a birthday party which was unnecessarily ruined by the manager in what was the most astoundingly bad hospitality management style I've ever experienced. Access to the venue to decorate the room from 3pm as promised was reneged upon giving the organisers 1 hour to decorate the room prior to guests arriving. This made the hosts late for their own party and made everything rushed and difficult for them. Upon arrival the manager was heard making inappropriate sexual comments about female guests from his spot in the bar. He came across as a very old school landlord who said what he liked and like what he said and would have been better suited running a brawlers tavern. I spoke to more than one female guest who mentioned his creepy comments. After the very average food was served the manager stopped the party, told the DJ to stop and closed it down due to kids "trashing" the function room. The trashing turned out to be some cake on the carpet. This issue was inappropriately raised by the manager raging in the host's face who burst into tears having her birthday ruined. This aggressive behaviour was witnessed by many guests and young children who in turn became upset. It was extremely traumatic for all the guests and devastating for the host who had her 40th birthday celebration ruined. The function was paid for in full (a 4 figure sum) but it was clear the manager didn't want the event, just the money. I was driving so watch the events unfold through sober eyes and could clearly see how embarrassed and awkward the bar staff were due to the behaviour of their boss. I've been to 3 parties at Raggalds and after this I will never set foot in the place again. If you're considering a party, wedding or function I strongly urge you to avoid this place due to the thoroughly unlikable manager. I still can't believe what happened and how he runs the place.

Raggalds is the place to go for your food, drinks, parties and entertainment! There is so much to do, and new events happen every day! Richard the boss is a fantastic host and organises everything with the greatest attention to detail, exceeding expectations every single time. Daniel and the team of staff are helpful, friendly and always go the extra mile to impress. Always lovely food, always the best top quality entertainment acts and a warm and cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended to all. Nowhere quite like it! 10/10

A party of 6 of us visited on 23 Feb. The joyous Joanne was our waitress and probably the friendliest, most professional and efficient waitress we have ever met. She is a credit to the Raggalds. The food was good with generous portions. The only slight complaint that the restaurant was cold. However we were in Queensbury and the outside temperature was 5 degs. We will definitely return! A special thanks to Joanna.

The whole afternoon from arrival to leaving was superb. The staff were happy and attentive, making us feel very special. It was hubbies 80th Birthday and he absolutely loved it all. The afternoon tea selection was the nicest we have had and we have had quite a good selection. We were given a box to bring home what we couldn't eat and enjoyed that later in the day. We will definitely go here again and not just for the afternoon tea. There is a good car park here and also serve lunches. Can highly recommend.

Carvery really good value, we dined at 5.30, plenty of food which was fresh and hot, we were told we could go back for more if we wanted it, don't know if this is normal but was kind gesture. Stopped by with the dogs , lovely pleasant staff , made the dogs welcome. Service was spot on, food was perfect. Made the journey home lovely feeling full n refreshed.

Come from the farm shop.. to the watering hole.. totally drenched to the skivies.. socks wringing wet through , boots full of rain .. glad to get in to a nice warm reception by staff .. who offered to hang the over soaked ringing wet .. very heavy coat in the kitchen. !! Hung it on a chair and drank a pint while waiting for the bus..

Well, what can I say ! It's an absolutely lovely place! From the min we walked in, we we're greeted by a friendly member of staff and shown to a table. We had gone on a Sunday, as we wanted to try the Sunday carvery, and boy, we weren't disappointed! Absolutely beautiful crispy fresh Yorkshire puds. There were 3 roasts, turkey, beef, and roast ham, I went for the beef and ham, although you can have all 3. The veg was steaming hot, fresh, and plentiful. The roast potatoes were crispy and delicious. All in all, I can honestly say it's one of the best Sunday carverys I have had in a very long time. The deserts looked amazing, beautiful cheesecakes and lemon meringue in a glass chiller cabinet. I chose the hot sticky toffee pudding and custard. The only little niggle I had was the custard was nearly cold. We will definitely be returning. What a Gem of a place. The staff were all happy, friendly, smiling and helpful. 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟
