1st time here, I had the small lasagne which was really nice, my husband had sausage and mash which he enjoyed. The service was very attentive. They allow dogs in the lounge area. You can hire a room for your wedding reception. On a personal note I would not come here to often due to the cost even though the food is excellent.

The most Disappointing Dining Experience I have ever had: Poor Quality Food and Service, My recent dining experience at the Raggalds pub / restaurant was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this was not going to be the enjoyable evening we had hoped for the place was nearly empty. The food, service, and overall atmosphere fell far below expectations, especially considering the prices they charge. Let’s start with the food. The quality was shockingly poor—basic, uninspired, and reminiscent of something you’d grab from a supermarket freezer aisle. For a restaurant that positions itself as a dining destination, the lack of effort and care in the dishes was baffling. We had ordered 4 vegan meals,which were a huge let down and poor quality and massively over priced compared to other places we had visited in the past, I also pre-ordered a steak, only to be told by the waitress that we hadn’t ordered it and therefore they couldn’t provide it. This was incredibly frustrating, as it’s hard to believe a restaurant couldn’t prepare a fresh steak on the spot, especially given the premium prices they charge. Instead, we were left with no explanation and no alternative. The presentation of the food was equally disappointing. Plates were haphazardly thrown together with no attention to detail or aesthetics. It felt like the kitchen had no pride in their work, and it showed in every bite. The flavors were bland, the ingredients felt cheap, and the overall experience was a far cry from what you’d expect for the cost. The meals they provide are meals that could easily be made with the most basic of cooking skills. My wife asked for clarity on the falafel and loaded fries with vegan cheese, as the falafel looked like fake vegan meat, the waitress said it's made with chickpeas in house, all home made, when my wife asked the manager, he brought a packet out, there was no cheese on the dish and they wasn't freshly made on site. The service was another major letdown. The waitress was rude, unhelpful, and showed no compassion or understanding of our needs. When we tried to explain our concerns, including food allergies, she seemed completely disinterested and uninformed about the menu. It was clear that the staff had no knowledge of the dishes they were serving, which is unacceptable in any dining establishment. Her dismissive attitude made an already frustrating experience even worse. To make matters worse, the lack of understanding around food allergies was alarming. In this day and age, when so many people have dietary restrictions, it’s essential for restaurants to be well-informed and accommodating. Unfortunately, this was not the case here, and it left us feeling uneasy and unsupported. Overall, this was a hugely disappointing experience. The food was cheap and basic, the service was rude and unhelpful, and the entire evening felt like a waste of time and money. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially not for the prices they charge. Save yourself the disappointment and opt for a more reliable dining option—this one is not worth it. This is not a place for a vegan to find quality well cooked food, it all appears to be prepackaged with poor quality chips and fries and tiny amount of salad. My last comment is, the manager and the bar staff were polite and respectful, and the bar staff was very helpful when it came to paying for the meal.. With a little more attention to detail and use better quality vegan food, and train their staff in communication and food and allergy knowledge they they could turn a poor review into a good review.

We booked for Christmas day and it was expensive so expected a good meal. There was a carvery for the main meal although they required us to book everything ahead and found most of the food very dry, and not enjoyable to eat. Staff were great and friendly but food was not. The starters were tasty so looked forward to rest to discover that was the best we were getting. The pudding was stale, and quite solid. We initially thought the kids were messing about until we tried to chop it ourselves and struggled to break through it. There was someone singing live at the venue but it was so loud and not often in tune it was an added torture to bad food. I enjoyed my time with family but will not be back to the restaurant. Overall a disappointing meal, and extremely expensive.

Very pleasant staff and the food was top quality

Went to see a show which was pretty good. Didn't eat but had a few lagers which were not cheap but cold and plenty of bubbles.

Lovely waiters and waitresses. They deserve to be paid better for what they put up with.

Possibly the best pub food I've ever had! We will be back!

Just been for Xmas meal. Beef was a bit dry and veg bland but edible Gammon was very fatty and the person who served me carved me big chunks of fat. The "warm" drowne was rock solid no wonder the kid in are party could not eat it. After I finish breaking into it, it was nice once I've cream smoked into it. The singer was nice just a bit loud for me but it's was nice to join in singing.

Was really looking forward to this meal as I've heard really good things and there's really good reviews online. I am vegan and they have a separate vegan menu so was quite excited for that. Upon arrival we were told that everything on the menu was available but actually it wasn't and there were only 2 vegan items which was disappointing. Not sure what this gravy was meant to be but it tasted like vegetable water and they forgot the peas which I asked for after. No one came back to ask how the food was. The other person i was with had specifically asked for no gravy and it was all over. Not great service.

Booked a table for 4 so we could meet up with old friends while we were in the area. We were told when booking that there would be a quiz night on during our visit, when we arrived we were seated around a corner away from the quiz so the noise was minimal. The food was excellent with large portions of good grub! The service was excellent from all the staff, very friendly and helpful. To be honest we couldn't fault the place, we will certainly return next time we are staying in Yorkshire.

Great atmosphere for Christmas, songs playing, lots of full tables. Had a mix of menu & Carvery. Everyone loved their food, freshly cooked, generous portions. Carvery very good, generous with the meats. All staff were so friendly, would highly recommend.

Called in while passing both my wife and I had the carvery. It was fine, I've had better but I've also had a whole lot worse. Pricewise, I thought slightly overpriced

Could be great but service is terrible. We arrived at 6.15pm but didnt get our food till after 7.30pm. By that time we were past it. One of our party had the carvery which he didn't finish because it was so dry! It came to £65 for two and was not worth it. The staff need training and the kitchen needs to be better organised. It's a shame because the place itself is lovely. Just really let down by poor and slow service.

First time at The Raggalds for a party of 5 but definitely not our last. The interior is cosy, welcoming and well lit. The staff are very accommodating with special praise to Charlie. He met me at front of house despite holding a full tray of drinks. Despite me saying I'd wait till he came back, he took my name,went to screen and showed me where my table was so I could go get my elderly parents....he was there at the door to welcome us all and took us to the table. He was very polite, couteous, attentive and approachable. A really really nice guy. And the food.....the food was Top Drawer...The Liver, Belly Pork and Carnivore Grill was on another level. Served hot, well presented and cooked to perfection...so credit too to kitchen for making this visit memorable. The menu was just how we like it too,with proper food to chose from, and not all this foreign muck you tend to see these days...so we'll be back for Round 2 of the menu in December

Food was excellent and service exceptional. Our waitress couldn't have been more polite, helpful and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and all staff busy, polite and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again. Can highly recommend.

Excellent place to hold a function, I was just recently at a wedding and the host was great keeping everyone entertained.

Visited with 2 friends, menu given to us on 2 x A4 sheets, not a good start. Ordered lasagne and it was served full of oil swimming on the top and was cold to taste. Sent it back and the waiter agreed it wasn't a good standard. Sorry will not be visiting again. Ordered a different meal, left half of it, chips were aired and quality was poor.

Me and my friend called today for the carvery..Must say the staff were exceptional...Very attentive..Very chatty too, nothing was too much trouble.. The carvery was hot and delicious..Will definitely be returning...Well done ladies 😍

The restaurant had a couple of tables in when we arrived. As we walked to the table ,we hadn't even sat down. We were asked what drinks we would like. The menu was typed on an A4 piece of paper. Unfortunately, the font they used was really bad to read. It also seemed a bit dirty as the menu was not laminated and not wipeable. Many grubby hands had been using it. Our order was taken, and then a few minutes later, we were told they didn't have one of the orders in, so we had to change the meal. When they did bring our food out. One of the accompanying side dishes came out several minutes later. After half the meal was eaten. Overall, I can't say I was impressed. I have heard that their Sunday roasts are great. But for a Saturday lunchtime , I can't see me rushing back.

Just love this place. Always made welcome and lovely friendly staff. The food absolutely delicious.

Check website for menu, you can pre-book your order ahead of visit which is excellent if you're a large group. The food and service are excellent, warm friendly environment. The menu has changed and there is less of a selection. They have a specials menu which changes every day.

Attended a retirement party here. At the same time there was a 70th birthday in an adjacent room. The service was fast and friendly. Catering was excellent, tasty, well presented and hot. Lots of free parking available on site.

Came today for birthday lunch with my husband.....was not disappointed. Both went for the loaded fries, and loaded they were. I have the meatball fries and he had the pepperoni pizza fries. Yum and so filling but did also order some garlic bread to mop up. Dessert also very delicious. Staff friendly and very attentive. Will be returning 100%.

We had an intimate wedding reception for 26 guests, from the moment our wedding party arrived all the way to leaving Richard and his staff were professional, reliable and very approachable.The food, a three course meal was excellent, all the staff did a fantastic job to cater for our needs and nothing was to much for them. Thank you, you helped give us the perfect wedding day!

We held our wedding at the Raggalds in August this year and it was absolutely beautiful, Richard was the perfect host to our guests. The food was wonderful and the room looked magical after Richard had done a marvelous job decorating it, the whole wedding went off without a hitch and all our guests commented on just how much they had enjoyed it, so a huge thankyou to Richard and all his staff

We all had the carvery. It was fantastic. 3 options of meat all tender and juicy, numerous veg options. All served hot and finished off with gravy. Highly recommend for food and drinks. Outdoor seating available. All the staff were attentive and friendly. They also have activities thru the week go check them out. Prices were great too.

Drastically over priced. My fault I suppose for not checking the prices. I trusted this venue to charge a fair price. More fool me. How much do you think I paid for two not very hot Sunday carveries half a pint of bitter and a tomato juice? £35-00. Yes that's what I thought too! I hate writing bad reviews but this is well deserved. Don't go near the place.

Nice place and staff good but the food was awful. Most of us had pizza as it was the theme for that day and they had a wood fired oven outside, so expected good pizza, it's not even a difficult thing to make. The worst pizza I've ever had. No tomato sauce on the base and I've no idea what cheese it was but it was disgusting, definitely wasnt mozzarella. My partner sent hers back and they did offer another one but it was that bad she didn't want it. They took that pizza off our bill in fairness to them. Wont be going back.

Afternoon Tea at The Raggalds OUTSTANDING Many thanks to Richard and his team for a wonderful afternoon tea. The tables were set-up with beautiful China sets and happy vases of flowers. There was a wide variety of sweet goodies with tasty jam and cream scones and a selection of delicious warm savoury treats. We were a large party and we were made to feel welcome throughout with bottomless pots of tea and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Everyone is still talking about and cannot wait for “the next one” Thank you, you gave us a lovely day Peggy White and family August 2024 Gluten Free Afternoon Tea at the Raggalds What can I say, very rarely do I feel that my gluten free afternoon tea is better than a “normal” one but on this occasion, I can truthfully say that I was blown away by the choice and how tasty everything was. No sign of the usual suspect of a dried-up brownie and tasteless crumbling (tiny) scone. The scones were amazing (ate them to quick to take a picture) and what more can I say then yummy in relation to the warm savoury plate of tempura veggies…. I have been gluten free for nearly 15 years and I can say hands down this is one of the best afternoon tea’s I have had anywhere. Being gluten free and eating out is never easy but I can say that Richard and his team went above and beyond to make it just as nice as rest of our party. Cannot wait to go back again. First time experience and we were very impressed. Attending a family wedding reception, it was a great venue. The function room lended itself perfectly for the party size. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Service was spot on with special mention for Charlie behind the bar, nothing was too much trouble.

I booked out the restaurant area for a surprise party of 45 ish people… everything was amazing from start to finish… the place looked great, DJ was great, buffet food was absolutely delicious, all home made, fresh and more than enough to go around. The staff were also amazing, nothing was too much trouble…. We had the best night, so glad we chose this place…. Well done Richard & team ❤️❤️

The Raggalds is a lovely pub restaurant with a function room. It has been all been refurbished and they've done a great job. The beer selection is good with real ales from Timmy Taylor. We had a hot roast beef sandwich, comes with fries or chips and a side salad. Delicious.

Nice place with nice food service was steady but we were in no rush.

Didnt appreciate being told I was speaking too loud by the Bingo caller thought it was very rude.

Didn't have food but met a friend for a catch up and a few drinks (non alcoholic) this afternoon the bar staff were lovely and polite. However, it felt like being in a village hall, Bingo was on in the main dining hall we were in the bar area. The Bingo caller came and told me to be quiet as I was too loud which I thought was incredibly rude. I was trying to have a conversation with my friend. Also saw a small party of people turned away because they were told there was no food being served. Avoid at all costs on Wednesday afternoons because its really just a bingo hall unless of course you want to play bingo!

Called in spontaneously during a long dog walk. We have two large dogs and normally places that say dog friendly mean small dog friendly. However, ALL staff here went above and beyond to make us all feel so welcome we were blown away. They said all shapes and sizes of dogs welcome and you can tell they really mean it. Plenty of offers to fill up the dogs water bowl and we felt very comfortable sitting inside. To top it all off great food and drink. Just what we needed. Living in Thornton, we can’t believe we’ve never called in before. We will be calling in regularly now! Thank you all. 🙂

What a great place to have a wedding reception! My lovely friends recently had their Wedding reception here and the staff were fantastic! The whole set up was beautifully done and the food was lovely! Perfect day!

Honestly biggest portion of meat I’ve ever had at a carvery. I asked for a bit of all 3 cuts and he piled the plate up. Will be reccomending to people I know local !

Went on a Wednesday and they have an OAPs afternoon. Unfortunately it was very noisy so as it was a lovely day we sat outside. The local muck spreading didn't help the food go down well. I'm sure on a different day things would have been better. The waitress and staff in general couldn't do enough for us.

Visited The Raggalds today and have to say very disappointing. Ordered 2 x tikka masala curries as the Tuesday special. The curries came which were lukewarm at best. Popadums were very greasy. Had to ask where the free Indian platter was? Platter came, I bit into samosa and it was frozen inside. I told a staff member who apologised and said he would sort it. It was obviously thrown back into fryer and returned to us full of fat. Consequently the platter was left. Overall not a good experience at all.

Popped in at around midday on a Wednesday whilst on a walk because the dog was thirsty (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!). The car park was almost full and it was surprisingly busy inside for a weekday. We sat in the beer garden so the dog could enjoy his pint of water in the shade. Staff were nice and friendly regardless of it being a hot day (let's face it, nobody likes working a busy job in the heat!) Will certainly be back. Can't comment on food as didn't have any today. Only negative for me is the artificial grass and that's being picky.

The place was beautiful but the cost of the food was very expensive for a few sandwiches and chips. Very disappointed

Ate it all and paul asked me if i still had room so he cut me yet another 2 peices of beef!! Dont get that anywhere eles. Definitely will not be visting another cavery place will be back most weekends . Top service top food reasonable cost .

Food was rubbish fed a vegetarian a chicken and ham pie. Tried to rectify the problem by then giving a quorn concoction which was vile. The right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. Would never return

Fantastic. The carvery was great. Not an "eat as much as you can" kind of place but still quality food. Only had the meat but not the veg, did have the potatoes, are they a veg? They are now. The beer was nice too although I only had a lager. My nephew enjoyed his meal too and so did his wife. We nearly caused a mishap with a runaway baby but nothing major

4 of us went for a Sunday Carvery. I, generally am not a fan of carvery’s and this did nothing to change my mind! The joint of beef was of poor quality and the chef was carving it in the wrong direction! All the food was lukewarm and the vegetables especially the broccoli and carrots were undercooked and difficult to even cut with a knife! At £14.95 pp this was not good value!

We visited just over a week ago for impromptu lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming, an excellent choice of drinks including real ales too. Our food and drinks were lovely. The views are fab and it's also spotlessly clean. We will definitely be back again. Thank you for having us

Don't go here if you have allergies. I mentioned 3 times while ordering food that I was gluten free and asked if everything I ordered was gluten free which I was assured it was. My halloumi salad arrived and only when I had started eating it was I told that they had added regular croutons that were not gluten free. I was given a feeble apology and told I wouldn't be charged for the salad (rightfully so!) but it's just not acceptable when serving food to be so irresponsible regarding allergies and intolerances that can have severe health impacts for people. Wouldn't come here for food again until they had provided their staff with proper training regarding allergens.

A great place to host a party as it has a great venue, but it's expensive and once was empty and took 1 hour 30 plus for a pizza

What a wonderful Carvery lunch at the Raggalds on Sunday April 21st enjoyed by 71 of our Grattan Retired Staff Assocation. The food was excellent with very generous portions. A very big Thank You to Richard and his very professional. friendly and helpful staff. The superb music by Ewan who got our people dancing & singing. Richard was his usual self wicked & cool making time to speak to all putting a smile on their faces. Roll on next time. Very much appreciated and thanks from our Committee and Members.

We had our daughter’s 1st birthday party here and it was fantastic. The staff were polite and helpful and the room looked great - nothing was too much trouble and we had a great time - the kids enjoyed themselves as much as the adults. Called in on the way to Bronte Museum, wasn't too sure at first as it was empty, and the glass door entrance was covered in smudges, not a good sign. However, we gave it a chance, good section of veg but a bit stingy on the meat, I had two pieces of gammon that combined would not weigh more than an ounce. The glass door was cleaned while we were eating. We believe it gets very busy and booking is required, lucky we got there at 11:30. Would visit again but they need to look at the portions.

I when today with my daughter and 3 grandchildren. The food was amazing and the staff where very helpful. Richard was amazing with my grandchildren. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for lovely day. Will most definitely be coming again

What a venue !! This place gets a triple WOW from me I was sooo impressed with the new(ish) set up, landlord and his wonderful staff. I'd gone there for the first Northern Soul & Motown night with Sweet Soul Music DJ'ing. I'm quite speechless about the whole evening I was so impressed by everything I saw and believe me it didn't really start well at all. I knew I was meeting a group of lovely, long standing friends there but the weather was filthy so we crawled from Boothtown to this venue in a real pea souper & I wondered if it was too bad to actually go there but thanks to a wonderful driver from A Class taxis I made it safely. The place is spotless, the staff and landlord friendly and welcoming and after a full and quite stunning refurbishment I'd honestly recommend this place to any of my close friends whether for a meal, the quiz night or a 'one off' evening event. I didn't eat but the desert cabinet had my mouth watering and all the staff I spoke to were everything they should or could be, helpful, friendly and very well turned out. The Soul & Motown night was excellent with a good mix of both music genres played, there were certainly some good 'Old School' soulers there which is always a good sign, they'll be back and they'll bring their friends. There's an excellent big dance floor so we'd lots of space for strutting out stuff and did a move or two myself lol !! I'm still creaking well now but it is what it is & well worth it. A massive thanks to all concerned, the Sweet Soul Music lads and an excellent venue ( Don't know why we didn't go here before !!) the poshest ladies ever, brilliant staff and venue and nobody to my knowledge has any say in the weather but imagine the views on a good day will be beautiful. Thanks to all concerned for an excellent night out .

Please think twice about having any parties or occasions at the Raggalds, Queensbury. Attended a 40th party last night and it was an utter joke. The room wasn't available from the time promised. The dj was stopped at 9.45pm, due to children getting cake on the seating. Which I appreciate is annoying but the manager was ridiculous. Shouting at the person whos party it was, instead of addressing the parents. Totally ruined the party , the music was put back on but most people went home. The birthday girl was crying, it was just awful 😭 so unprofessional.
