Stopped in for a roast on Sunday with no booking. They were able to accommodate us and what followed was one of the top three roasts of my life (my mother’s excluded). There was no skimping on the meat, we both got huge portions, and the veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly too. Can’t wait to find ourselves in Ilkley on a Sunday again.

Visited with a couple of friends after a recommendation and was not disappointed. Live locally but have not visited for many years but will definitely be returning. We all had the Vietnamese food with a couple of shared starters which were good sized portions and delicious. We all chose different mains which were all excellent. We were too full for desert but I'm sure they would be lovely too. The service was really good with a jug of water brought to the table without being requested and then topped up when empty again without any need to prompt.

Seven of us had Sunday dinner to celebrate my birthday at the Ilkley Moor Vaults. Since Loc became chef, my husband and I have been twice previously and we’ve been very impressed. The atmosphere is lovely with all the fairy lights, the food is amply proportioned and did not fail to impress everyone in the party and the staff were great. We had traditional roast beef roast, the nut roast, the pork belly and the burger, with a side portion of cauliflower cheese – all delicious. Desserts included the churros, the crumble and the lemongrass special. Again, completely empty plates and I was tempted to lick mine!

Never judge a book by its cover ! The outside of this pub looks uninviting but once inside it’s cosy, warm, the staff are friendly and the food is outstanding! Definitely recommend the Vietnamese food on the menu cooked by the fantastic Vietnamese chef. It doesn’t get much better , the textures, flavours and presentation are exquisite. The menu does also offer other traditional pub classics which are great too. Sunday roasts are also delicious, we tried these on previous visits. Located a stones throw from the town centre just up from the lovely River Wharfe. Highly recommend visiting here if in Ilkley.

Went with a friend on a late Sunday afternoon, we shared a selection of the Vietnamese starters and it was absolutely delicious, so much flavour, the squid was tender and crispy, the sweet potato fritters were gorgeous and the chicken satay was really tasty. Service was good, wine was reasonably priced and good options by the glass, would really recommend it!

The Ilkley Vaults has been one of our go to places for longer than I can remember. Like a fine wine - it gets even better with age. We arrived mob handed, no problem - warm welcomes all round - service was attentive but relaxed and friendly. The food is outstanding. Choice, quality and presentation. It’s great to see the place full and vibrant - well deserved. Back very soon!!

Truly exceptional! This is a story worth telling - a delightful relaxed pub near the riverside, recycled pallet-chic outdoor furniture, great bar; you think you know what to expect, tasty English gastropub cooking to suit, with burgers, roasts, and supersalads on the menu. Yes, and… just the most talented Vietnamese cooking this side of the Pennines! On our lunchtime visit we combined a generous italian salad starter with chunky satay chicken, much more than a mouthful, full of flavour, followed by an absolutely delicious choice of Vietnamese pancakes, one veggie, one pork and prawn, with perfect dipping sauce, not too hot but full of tangy flavour to go with the crispness of the pancake and its crunchy filling. The rest of the menu is full of great dishes from Vietnam as well as the more traditional attractions of summery desserts such as berry pavlova. Stick or switch between Yorkshire and the East as you please, you will not be disappointed. in fact this place may be the discovery of the year.

First time at Ilkley Vaults. We had heard Sunday Roasts were excellent and I can certainly vouch for that. 2 of our party had the duo of roasts with both lamb and beef which they loved. I had the beef which was perfectly pink for me and super tender. Lots of lovely veg, really well presented. Starters were a bit of Asian fusion, tempura vegetables and king prawns, all beautifully prepared. Efficient, friendly staff too. Going back very soon. Thoroughly recommend trying the Sunday Roast.....mmmmmm.

Decided to visit because of the great reviews for the Sunday dinners. I was left very disappointed. Had the vegan dinner. The nut roast was a strange consistency and very soft. It didn't really hold together, and it had no real flavour. The cabbage and broccoli were nice. Roast potatoes tasted like they'd been warmed up. They were dry and had no crispness to them at all. The vegan yorkshire pudding was vile. They had done the mix wrong so there was an awful bitter taste. Completely inedible. I was offered a free drink when I next visit but that won't be happening unfortunately. Very disappointed.

The meal was £24.95 for a main course , which I was originally very surprised at , but as I was going with friends decided to bite the bullet and pay . The plate consisted of an enormous dry Yorkshire pudding , a piece of dry Turkey about 1/2” thick , three rock hard sprouts , a pig in blanket of less than 2”, some stuffing , a hard piece of parsnip and three roast potatoes and to top it off a tiny jug of fruit jus . No gravy for what was a difficult meal to swallow and no one asking if everything was ok , which it was not . I will not visit again as I was very disappointed at the quality of the meal served at what was my only Christmas meal out this year .

Christmas lunch was extremely disappointing £20 for one small piece of turkey, 3 very small more raw than cooked sprouts. 1 small piece of parsnip, small spoon of red cabbage, a very small stuffing ball, 2 roast potatoes and a yorkshire pudding. Looked more like a child’s portion rather than for an adult. When we asked for more sprouts a bowl was brought to the table of 8 with six sprouts it was an actual joke if i wasn’t with a group i would definitely not have paid more than £12.

Arrived for a late Sunday lunch after a big walk down from Bolton Abbey with our dogs in tow. There was choice of seats outside for a drink, with a warm and welcoming bar for our food. The menu covers all the basics, we were v impressed with the local homegrown ingredients and inventive ideas from the chef, great to see compared to many chain pubs. I went for the homemade croquettes and wagu burger, all perfectly done with quick and friendly service. Top fries too! Enjoyed the Ilkley brewery lager, the team we're happy to help with wine suggestions too, all pretty good value. Happy to recommend, well worth a visit. Dogs got some free biscuits too, so everybody left happy!

Unfortunately this pub has gone downhill in recent times. The menu featured 5 dishes which the single pie had ran out (website references a pie menu). The only meat options were a wagu burger which was distinctly average for £18 or a Caesar salad. Veggie options were vegan fish and chips or a vegan burger. Our party had 2 wagu burgers and the veggie eaters opted for sharing starters as the mains. £9 for a single cauliflower bao bun and £7 for a single croquet. Prices are ridiculous for average food. The front of house staff were also poor, despite the restaurant being quite empty the burgers came out 15 minutes after the rest. Avoid for now folks.

In light of post Covid restrictions I felt I needed to be generous in my views because I'm ultimately grateful we can get out again. However, the temperature of food and lack of taste shouldn't be affected, restrictions or not. Hungry and cold, post Wharfe swim I felt excited when the board displayed several veggie choices. This was soon to change. It was empty and spacious, while not always indicative of atmosphere but while I'm here I may as well add that it seemed reminiscent of a graveyard scene. The staff appeared half asleep, post zombie apocalypse and possibly hungover. Asking for condiments and cutlery and another table were asking for their food, bearing in mind, only two table in ( totally 7 people) at 2pm. One wouldn't want to imagine a fuller covid free food for all fest. The food was semi warm and tasteless. If it had been a fiver a plate, you'd instantly feel like you'd hit a deal. At a mere £14, you know it's more of a over exaggerated attempt at fleecing the local Bourgeoisie. Sadly, the local folk probably don't go, so it's the likes of fools like me that end up out of pocket and unsated. The Wharfe is perfect for a swim though. And the toilets at the vault were the perfect release

Bar Tat has been a staple in my life for over 20 years, and while the beer remains excellent, particularly the selection from Vocation Brewery, the experience has recently been undermined by an unfortunate shift in atmosphere. The issue isn't the quality of the beer – it’s top-notch, as always. The problem lies with the music. The staff seem to have taken it upon themselves to curate a playlist that channels the feel of a 1970s rock pub. While I have no objection to a bit of Asia or Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the relentless volume and choice of obscure B-sides are overwhelming. It's often far too loud, making conversation impossible and creating an uncomfortable environment for what should be a relaxing pint. It leaves me wondering if this is part of a poorly executed rebrand or simply staff imposing their personal preferences at the expense of the customers' experience. Whatever the reason, it feels out of step with what this pub once was. Bar Tat has always stood for great beer and a welcoming atmosphere, and while one half of that remains intact, the other is faltering. For now, I’ll keep coming back for the beer, but I hope they reconsider the approach to music before it drives more long-standing patrons away.
