The Queen's Inn in Tunbridge Wells

Just had a most wonderful lunch Me, Scallops followed by fish and chips Her, pizza with side salad Shared a rather nice bottle of Chenin Food delicious and cooked to perfection If you haven’t you should !

We really wanted to love our meal here as it gives off such great vibes, but what we ordered & at the cost, we were so disappointed. We both ordered the lamb rump, and its accompaniments on the menu all sounded delicious. However, when it arrived, it was a very small amount of the actual rump, 3 small pieces, and the chick peas were very greasy. Everything else was just basic and very underwhelming. Portion size was very poor for £27. We actually went to the shop and got crisps and dips to take home as we were still hungry. Staff all very polite & attentive, but one girls skirt was that short we actually felt uncomfortable as we could see men on other tables looking at her and giggling amongst themselves. We did mention the fact we weren't satisfied with the food, but because we ate it, we didn't really have much of a response. We would love to give it another go with this being one of our new locals, but we had much better food at the eight bells up the road, & certainly did not go home hungry or disappointed.

Very comfortable and wecoming environment. Accommodation and cuisine very high quality. Two personable and professional staff in particular are worthy of note: Katie, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Jasper, a young and engaging lad of 16 who has a great future ahead of him in hospitality. Highly commended.

We had a lovely lunch during half term. Staff were so accommodating to our 7 year old. Food was delicious! Highly recommend!

Decided on visiting the Queen’s Inn for Sunday lunch today and whilst the building was as lovely as ever, this was a very disappointing experience. We were shown into the very cold restaurant, chose our drinks and then placed our order. The starter arrived and was tasty but it all went downhill from there. The family that arrived a good twenty minutes after us were served their meals whilst we were still waiting. Two minutes later the waitress returns to tell the table she’d made a mistake and picked up the plates of food and tried serving them to us. We declined and asked that she gave them back to the other diners as we didn’t want food that had been sitting in front of other people. We had to then wait again for our food which she staggeringly tried to serve to another table yet again. It was only when they said the food wasn’t for them did we manage to catch her eye. She then gave us only one meal, then the vegetables arrived and were again waiting for my partner’s food. This arrived through the doorway but was held whilst two waitresses stood discussing which table it was for. The food was not of a high standard after such a wait, very fatty and half was left. We declined desert or coffee and just paid the bill and left. This once great inn has lost something of its quality staff and food and I’ll be giving it a while before I return.

Anniversary dinner. Go out rarely as childcare is difficult, so we hoped it would be special and we weren't disappointed. Service was first class, menu imaginative and broad, setting warm, inclusive and stylish. The perfect mixture between local pub and classy restaurant. Will be going back again. Thank you. X

Great spot for dinner, and better than expected. You want the Queen’s Inn to be good, it’s a lovely old building that looks good in the High Street. Step in and you’re not quite sure to expect, looks a bit tired and not sure if it’s a bar or a restaurant. Whatever the image, it worked well enough. Charming enthusiastic staff made us feel welcome and the food is top notch. Perfect pork belly combo for me, excellent steak for Mrs. Definitely better than expected and nice to keep it that way. Also an excellent choice of wines by the glass.

A fabulous place to eat, drink & sleep! Stayed overnight just before Christmas and can’t fault it one bit. Staff, food, rooms, all top quality! Well done to all and we will definitely be returning next time we’re in the area

We attended a family party here, and our experience was outstanding. What friendly, kind and helpful people! Katie is a superb host and made sure everyone was brilliantly looked after. The room was beautifully decorated, with wonderful flowers and we were welcomed with a glass of prosecco. After half an hour of catching up with friends and family, we sat down to the most delicious lunch. The roast beef (it was Sunday) was melt-in-the-mouth, and so tender. Blackberry and apple crumble was just as good, a perfect balance between sweet and tart. The staff were amazing - so friendly and efficient. It was flawless. Congratulations to everyone at Queens Inn: we will certainly be back.

Excellent evening. Friendly and helpful staff, lovely surroundings and outstanding food. The fish and chips was apparently one of the best my father has eaten, the roasted cauliflower was superb and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Many more great things could be said about the starters, puddings and cheese but you get the idea. Eat here and you won't be disappointed whether you are a fan of traditional pub fare or are after something a little more sophisticated.

Excellent food, very friendly and efficient staff, great selection of beers and reasonably priced Sunday lunch. The menu clearly states that the beef and lamb is served red, so beware. I love it like that. The Mixed Roast was fabulous with well cooked sides of cauliflower cheese and red cabbage. Even the gravy was excellent. The Yorkshire pud is huge. Didn’t need a starter as decided to go for the pudding. So the litmus test is would I go back…….absolutely yes.

Delicious quality food that rather surprised me! Great atmosphere in this spacious pub/restaurant/hotel. I'd never ventured in before and was really impressed with the cleanliness and quality throughout. The staff were all friendly and service swift and helpful. My choice of the chicken supreme, perhaps sounded ordinary, but it was a treat for the taste buds with rosemary potatoes, carrot jus and gravy and beautifully presented. My partner opted for the beer battered fish and chips and reckoned it was some of the best he had had.

A slightly random review as it’s about a side salad. The pub was good, the food delicous, nice toilets etc as you’d expect. The thing that makes it a 5 star review was the side salad. Best my husband and I have had anywhere. Not just a bit of lettuce, cucumber and tomato, but avocado, radish and peppers too with a tasty dressing. Side salads are often an afterthought and pretty basic, but this showed this place cared about what they served. We’ll be visiting again.

We just had a great Roast Beef Sunday lunch, takeaway obviously because of the lockdown. It was nicely presented, with separate containers for the vegetables (roast vegetable selection, red cabbage and cauliflower in white sauce) & gravy. Even included a portion of horseradish. The beef was plentiful and tender. We had Roast Beef in the restaurant the Sunday before lockdown, and, perhaps surprisingly, this was just as good! Would highly recommend. Need to order the day before, by phone and arrange a pick-up time.

Fabulous! A proper, tasty roast dinner. The beef was perfectly cooked and very tender; lots of vegetables including cauliflower cheese; proper gravy and Yorkshire puddings to finish it off. Lovely!

Lovely pub, really friendly and polite staff. We had 3 small platters to start and share, followed by bbq ribs and venison, which was out of this world, venison loin cooked to perfection, complimented with pearl barley and braised venison shoulder. We were seated promptly and orders were taken for honey and mustard chipolatas as starters and burgers for mains. Food was good, but portion sizes were huge (10 sausages each!). Very friendly service. The bill was £67 including two beers and two glasses of wine.

We booked the first slot we could get at 8.30pm - we were fairly promptly served drinks and then asked several times if we wanted more before any sign of food yet our order was taken promptly. After an hour we complained, to be fair the Manager when pressed said he would not charge us for drinks though offered us a coffee first after our food, would that have been 11pm perhaps? Husband's burger overcooked and without any juices. My chicken burger was good but just too too late ... wish we had walked out now. Too late and not worth waiting for sadly.

Booked a night here having spent a day touring round Kent. We were very pleased with everything - attractive room, friendly staff, lovely food. It made our trip a very pleasant one.

We called in for lunch after pre-booking, initially the service was very good, we were seated, offered drinks, made our order and food came out promptly, we were then left for for ages with empty glasses and no one asking if everything was ok with our food or if we wanted anymore drinks (which we did), shame as the food 2 sandwiches were delicious and we wanted a coffee to finish, but after waiting so long we gave up in the end, flagged down a waiter and asked for the bill.Lovely food and surrounding, but hit and miss service !

We spent 3 nights here with friends. The rooms are comfortable and stylishly decorated. We stayed in room 3 which was facing the road, but it was set back and very quiet. The restaurant is lovely and the food amazing! The staff were all very friendly, courteous and attentive. They delivered fresh milk and water to the rooms every morning and evening. Nothing was too much trouble.

Fabulous! Visited twice in the last month and were not disappointed. Once for a private function, I was absolutely amazed how they’ve managed to get several dishes done to a high standard at the same time. The staff couldn’t have done more, they were very good and always there when needed, but without being intrusive. On second occasion visited for a family meal out. Again, very nice food served by great staff. Would definitely recommend.

Visited for a family meal, all the food was beautiful and very tasty. The staff can’t do enough for you, and we were made to feel very safe having our own corner of the restaurant which was great as we have a young child. I’d recommend the ribs and if you have room the chocolate and amaretto pot was insanely good!

Another outstanding mealWe came at the end of August, amid the eat out to help out scheme. The meal was beautiful, admittedly expecting smaller portion size as per other establishment in the area, but no. The meal was delicious. Large portions still, none of this I’m getting it cheap so go smaller, excellent quality meat/fish and beautifully cooked. The staff were excellent, COVID 19 adhered to at every table. More staff on than normal, but that meant that everyone was looked after and everyone had their own waitress/waiter so no worry of COVID. Truly a wonderful place to eat and excellent staff. Management should be proud.

We were viewing a house in cranbrook and I somehow managed to drive past on the way, my partner then insisted we go in for lunch after the viewing and it's the best decision they've made in ages.We were seated quickly even though we had no booking and the staff were friendly, prompt and efficient.Drinks came really quickly (JD& coke9 and Lime & Lemonade)I ordered the ribs and my partner had the queen burger with cheese and bacon. Everything was delicious.periodt. The crispiest onion rings I've ever had even though they werent mine. I was disappointed when the ribs arrived as they look like a half rack as opposed to the full rack i was expecting for £16.50 but the amount of meat and flavour more than made up for their size and I believe the quality far outweighed the quantity. My partner really enjoyed his burger both the patties and the fillings were polished off. The bun was a brioche style so could have been toasted a bit to hold all the juicy goodness in but by no means ditracted from the flavour and enjoyment.Overall a lovely surprise and we will certaily be popping in again to try it twice!!

Visited for drinks one night and dinner the other. Food was good - nothing to shout about but pleasant. Service was friendly. There was sanitiser and tables distanced but that was it for their Covid measures - no PPE, single use menus or additional measures for staff.

We booked in to celebrate a birthday recently and were pleasantly surprised to find the pub looking in tip top shape. Super clean inside and out. The owners have clearly been busy during lockdown! The new menu is a fantastic selection of what their talented chefs can cook. I had the pork belly satay to start with a few of my partners courgette fries - so Tasty! My main of monkfish lightly spiced with rice and carrots was absolutely to die for. A very well thought out dish, much like the rest of the menu. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and at all times social distancing was adhered to. Not once did I feel in any danger with regards to covid19. Hand sanitizers and disposable menus/thoroughly cleaned tables, door handles and toilets. Couldn’t ask for a more perfect evening

I turned up at the Queens inn today at 9.46 for breakfast after a dog walk. The smug supercilious lady behind the bar area completely ignored us. After some time she looked up and asked how she could help. I explained that we were there for breakfast. She immediately said we aren’t serving breakfast anymore even though it is clear on their website that breakfast it served until 10 am. I personally have been a huge supporter of Queens Inn and have encouraged friends to go for girls night, Sunday lunch and suppers. I will never ever go again. I will ensure that I tell everyone that even though the place has been fully refurbished they need to get friendly more helpful staff especially in the reception area is that is one of the most important area of any business. What a shame that you have lost your reputation in a matter of minutes. I can’t bear the dishonesty and duplicity not to serve breakfast when there was at least 15 minutes left. I left the Queens Inn at 9.56

We haven’t been here for a while so we booked early on Saturday night as our 7 month old daughter was with us. The food is still as amazing as last time. We had the croquets to start which were piping hot and so much flavour in each one. We both had the rib eye steak seeing as it was “date night” cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth, didn’t need a steak knife to cut it. And the dessert..... chocolate delice . Bloody delicious!!The presentation was exceptional, the service was with a smile, not intrusive but attentive and so appreciated with the attention to our daughter, she loved being the centre of attention! Thank you for another fantastic meal.

Second time here, perfect Sunday roast. A really good veggie option of a goats cheese and vegetable tart, fantastic service.
