I booked the Queens head to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. They provided a suitable area that could accommodate 16 people comfortably. Due to our large party the pub wanted our orders a few days before and this certainly helped with the efficiency of out orders coming out together. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful and such good vaule. The staff were attentive, polite and very friendly. Thank you so much to all the staff for making this a wonderful evening.

Great choice of food including specials board. Good beer too. We were served pretty quickly and really enjoyed our piping hot mains. The macaroni cheese came with excellent garlic bread. Thank goodness we still had enough room to have the amazing banoffee pie! The pub also does quiz nights every other Tuesday and music nights. Really recommend a visit.

We have previously enjoyed meals here with friends and the standard has always been fairly consistent and good. Sadly, today the standard dipped noticeably. Admittedly it was busy, but we had prebooked well in advance. There was confusion about our booking when we arrived which carrried through when different staff served us. Two of the main courses were not particularly hot when they arrived and the fish very salty and dry. We were kept waiting a very long time between the main course and order being taken for pudding which was mediocre and pretty tasteless. Dogs are admitted with their owners, but this can be intrusive and unwelcome for other customers when they dogs yapping and/or sniffing round other people's tables. I don't think we will be returning in a hurry.

An excellent lunch with friends. There's a very good choice on the menu (my wife had the lamb chops and I had the mix of fish, both of which we can certainly recommend). The food is well presented and delicious. The portion sizes are more than ample and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The outdoor tables have excellent views across the countryside to Rye. Parking is available and the restaurant is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Can certainly recommend

I had the Roast Lamb which came with all the trimmings home cooked roast potatoes (which were he best I've had in a restaurant!) 3 veg & Yorkshire pudding. Worth every moment, a smile as we entered the bar with friendly service. Vegetables cooked to perfection, and new potatoes that tasted like they’d come fresh from the garden this morning. My fiancé had the Cajun chicken burger - Again beautifully presented, a burger made of fresh chicken breast seasoned in house (none of this bought in stuff!) Friends had told us about this place so we drove there on a Saturday it's a little bit difficult to pull into but we'll worth it. The staff were nice and although we had not booked were able to find us a table for two. We waited a little while for somebody to take our order but we were not in a rush and took in the surrounding while we waited. The professor ordered the burger and I ordered the slow roast belly of pork with chips and vegetables as I don't like mash and some extra vegetables. The burger was big and came with bacon and cheese, lovely coleslaw and salad and a very large portion of chips. My pork belly was beautiful unfortunately trying to crisp up the crackling under the grill i think part of it was burnt but that did not detract from the meal only if you like crackling like i do. Again this came with beautiful fresh vegetables and again a huge portion of chips. We were unable to have a dessert as our belts were stretched, but left with a chip doggy box. Would recommend this to all our friends and will be back soon .

Staff didn’t really have what it takes to run a pub. Dour personalities, flat greeting. Having been advised our meals would take a while (even though it didn’t look busy) we asked for some bread and butter while we were waiting, only to be told that would stress out the kitchen/ hold things up! We were though, offered the option of buying crisps. All ordered burgers (four of us) but, when they eventually turned up, they were not nice at all. We were asked if we wanted any condiments, and we asked for mustard and mayonnaise. We were given a minuscule pot of Mayo between the four of us and a whole jar of mustard. The other way around would have been far more appropriate. None of us finished our meals....there were mixed opinions of the burgers, but a unanimous decision on the terrible, salty bacon! The dogs were happy to eat the burgers tho. All in all a real disappointment and would not recommend at all. Steer clear....

Been twice to this pub. The first time was a lovely sunny day 4 weeks ago. We waited at the door to have our temperature taken and to be seated...... There was a group of 5 people in the queue in front of us and they had booked a table. There was an old waitress and an old waiter who walked passed us several time, not even acknowledging us or even saying the standard "will be with you in a tick" Nothing!! when me and my husband did eventually get to sit in the marquee to have a drink the old waiter who served us was very miserable and obviously didn't want to be there! Service was slow, so just had the 1 drink and left. However we went back yesterday for lunch as we had heard that the food was lovely, so giving it a 2nd chance, we booked a table. When we got there (and having our temperature taken) we were shown to our table which was as far at the back of the restaurant you could possibly go (eve though we walked past many empty tables in the main part of the pub which were much nicer) I just knew that we'd be forgotten out the back! and I was right! No table check! (we would have asked for more drinks) At the very end of our meal a waitress was clearing a nearby table and saw us, so beckoned her over and asked for fore drinks, and more salt (even though it was a bit late as I had almost finished my meal, and my husband had long finished his) I had to ask for the bill on the way back from the toilet as no-one came to check on us. The dirty plates were still on the table when we left. Such a shame as they have all the correct Covid rules in place and very organised in that way and the food was lovely but the lack of friendliness and service would put me off going back.

We visited for the first time since covid. We were so impressed with the effort and cleanliness of the pub. Our temperature was taken on arrival and our details logged. It was really comforting. There has been enormous effort put in to keep safe distances and it was wonderful to sit in the beautiful garden and enjoy our first beer in a very long timeIan ( the owner ) came out and had a chat and welcomed us and the rest of the team were friendly and warmWell done all, and thank you, B&J x

Visited this pub over weekend. Visited a few years ago, not at all as remembered. Shabby, dirty outdoor tables. Quite surprised when bill arrived and charged £3.80 for a Ribena carton and £3 for an orange squash for children.

We visited the Queens Head on 15th September, we had booked ahead, which is advisable and had a lovely table outdoors, overlooking the land over to RyeWe were greeted by the owner, Ian and had a lovely meal to celebrate a recent birthday. The Harveys on draught was well maintained

Felt secure, cared for (? not been out months) and valued. Good selection of beers & ciders, wide ranging & extensive “Covid restricted” menu. Excellent mixed fish and chips. Will be back for more, for sure.

Went for meal yesterday. Social distancing amazing. Food was amazing as well. We had Steak,Ale and mushroom pie certainly recommend it and sure will go back to have it again. Staff were really good all wearing face shields. They were very pleasant, we had to wait a little bit which wasn't a problem as they were very busy but nothing was too much trouble for them. Certainly recommend eating here. Well Done to all the staff.

We went there for a family celebration, when staying at a nearby Oast House. The Covid preparations were thorough and reassuring, and we had the choice of eating indoors or outdoors. As it was a lovely evening, we ate outside. The waiting staff were attentive and the food was served in a timely manner. The portions were huge and the quality was excellent. We couldn't manage dessert, we were too full up!Highly recommended, but don't forget to book to avoid disappointment.

Have eaten here 3 times in the last 3 weeks, the food was excellent as usual. Have to say in the current circumstances we felt very safe, the set up of the pub is brilliant and in keeping with the decor, the tables and chairs were all sanitised after customers left and we would not hesitate to recommend this pub to anyone. Well done to all at the Queens Head

Normally quite good pub food here but mixed fish grill was disappointing- very over fried/overcooked- a plate of crispSteak was apparently very good thoughAs others have said, service is slow but I guess that’s down to the vigorous way they are keeping us safe- which as I have reviewed before I can’t recommend highly enough

We had booked a table for 8 inside and including a dog. The service was a little slow, but this was probably down to the garden area being full and a very hot day.Food arrived and the quality was very good indeed, the ploughmans was huge.

Had to pre-book but went for lunch after a walk round Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. There are measures in place to ensure that social distancing is maintained. There is no bar service but all drinks are served at your table. The staff are extremely pleasant. The food is good; more than ample servings, well presented and very tasty. Can certainly recommend the lamb chops. If you sit outside, there are lovely views over the surrounding countryside.

Very welcoming and attentive. Lovely views, although the garden had shrunk considerably since our last visit in the early20’s to make way for more parking. The food was delicious, our only criticism being that the bread and butter served with the prawns and other seafood starter dishes was very disappointing. Sliced thin bread and extremely yellow looking ‘butter’. It was not butter and personally I would have expected a nice thick chunk of good fresh crusty bread to have been served at that price.

Having been out for the day we were on the lookout for a pub and we were pleased to see a sign for this one. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we found ordering drinks on arrival then having them brought to us was quicker than pub service in pre covid days! We ordered a ploughmans and a portion of chips to share. Portions are large and this was more than enough. Seating is in the garden with a beautiful view. Hope we pass here again as would definitely return

We ordered a starter which we always have when we go there which is the cray fish snd prawn starter.prawns were small, and they we’re definitely frozen prawns and they were tasteless and the sauce was just watery.for nearly 8 quid I want fresh prawns not some cheap frozen ones.they have always been decent sized prawns and fresh but not this time around.the cray fish wasn’t atal fresh either and again was definitely frozen.i always have the steak and ale pie which was pretty much 80% pastry.i dunno what’s gone on with this place but I was extremely disappointed and the 2 seat table we had we felt like we was in a prison cell which had 2 screens either side of us.bearly room to eat your food.i won’t be going back here for a while now after this terrible meal.this used to serve the best food in the Hastings area..staff were lovely but that don’t cut it when your out spending money on food.could of cooked better myself at home.
