This lovely old 17th century pub is historic in the Cheddar Valley pretty. I've enjoyed going there for many years however I've noticed some things have happened not good things. Recently I become disabled and I was looking for a disabled toilet they do not have this facility. They have a gentleman's and a ladies inside as well as outside but those are locked with a padlock so you cannot access them when you go and visit this lovely historic pub. They do not cater for disability people which is a big shame! I recently took my disabled mother out to Cheddar and we thought we'd visit this lovely pub I had to take out my mother's wheelchair take her into the pub where they said I'm sorry I cannot open the outside toilets. Would have been more accessible as it's in the car park and I would have only had to help my mother get to them but they were padlocks so I had to wheel or all in and some of the customers had to help my mother through the pub to get to the toilets. I asked for the key but the owner said sorry it's not available even though he's got shed loads of money in driving a expensive car they still do not caper for disabled people as many old age pensioners that are disabled that would like to visit but they know they can't because of the facilities they have to find elsewhere. So shame on the owner and I hope you get ordered here then be forced to sort out a disability access through your 17th century pub.

We popped in for lunch on a Friday. It’s a great traditional village pub with wood burning stoves, wooden beams and flagstone floors. The food is excellent and they have something for everyone. Plenty of pub classics. My friend had faggots and mash. And lots of lighter bites. I had the prawn cocktail. Both meals were very generous. I’d have struggled to eat a main course after my starter. They have a couple of good local real ales and a good selection of other drinks. It’s a walker and dog friendly pub. Highly recommended

We frequent this pub every so often throughout the year and always enjoy the experience, Winter or Summer. Meals are well-priced and substantial and a good pint of Guinness is a bonus. Great charm enhanced by roaring log fires. Everything a country pub should be. Can get busy so consider booking at busy periods.

Visited lunch time today with my wonderful Mum of 98 years old. What a super place to have our lunch. We stumbled across this pub having planned to visit Cheddar Gorge but unfortunately it was closed. We live in Tatworth near Chard. Having travelled for 1.5 hours, we decided to find somewhere for lunch. From walking into this pub to the very bubbly and helpful lady behind the bar and reserving our table to the fab toilet doors everything about this pub was just brilliant. Oh yes and the leek and potato soup was so tasty with a warm baguette. Thank you. We hope to return again.

We arranged a family lunch. It was a large group of us (13 adults and one child) so we booked in advance. When we arrived the pub was very busy and we were concerned that our large order may take some time to be cooked and would it all arrive at the same time. We need not have worried. The food arrived in good time and all of it was brought to the table virtually together. My steak pit was absolutely delicious and there were only complimentary comments from the rest of the group. The quality of the chips received was highlighted. The quality of the food and the exceptional service made the lunch a really enjoyable experience. The Queen Victoria is well worth a visit.

Place is nice enough a bit cramped, the service has a lot to be desired though. We may have got them on a bad day but they really made us all feel they would prefer for us to not be there, maybe because we weren’t regulars, to be fair it was only one member of the bar staff. We only live down the road in Wells so would have used this more often but I doubt if we will now. Some people aren’t suited to the service industry I guess.

Could not fault anything - choice great, staff super friendly and helpful, portions large, food fantastic, reasonably priced too. Not sure what else to say - oh yes - puddings were great too, not that we really needed them but hey we're on holiday so entitled to eat way too much. Our first time eating out since mid March, and everything and more we hoped it would be. A momentarily wait at the gate, where we sanitised our hands, before we were met by the staff and escorted to a table. The choice of food was...

Booked a table for family of five for Halloween Service was polite and friendly, didn’t have to wait too long for our order and the meals were all hot quantity & quality was amazing. We all had fish & chips but there are other options of things to eat. Definitely value for money and will definitely be returning again

Nice local business with delicious food. Had the Buddha bowl with loads of tasty veg and some chicken. Hummus and chickpeas made it enough that i didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day.

My daughter had her birthday Party there and it was so lovely. Very friendly host. Jordan is simply the best. The kids enjoyed their food, the pizzas were to die for and they had a swell time. F-Cooke is sure the best when it comes to hosting people. Friendly and lovely .
