Very nice roast dinner, good service and good environment. Portion size for the roast for both kids and adults could be a bit more generous but it was very tasty!

Excellent meal and lovely calm pub - great service - would recommend. Food was very good quality and staff helpful and responsive.

Stayed in the apartments above the pub for 4 nights and had breakfast every morning. Good choice on the menu and all beautifully cooked and presented. Would highly recommend.

First visit to The Queen Stage for a lunch with friends. What a pleasant afternoon in a really lovely venue. Such a great menu, food was excellent and reasonably priced. We received friendly, professional service. Will definitely be back soon and will be looking out for events through the summer.

Dreadful experience - we both chose the Surrey Hills breakfast. Menu said choice of eggs - we weren't offered a choice. Sausage & bacon burnt. As others have said baked beans in a dish just a bit bigger than a thimble My coffee was spilt into the saucer & server didn't offer to clean it up - this happened twice! Cost for two with coffees £42.50 Won't go back

Booked for dinner with a friend. Service from Sarah was outstanding, the Queen’s Stage wouldn’t be the place it is without her. Matt the chef cooked us the most delicious food, the pizza is the best around! Look forward to coming back !

Tapas and white wine in a warm comfy environment . The leather sofa in the corner is a great choice as well as the similar chesterfield in the rear outside area. Particularly good for cyclists in the area. Worth a try

I stayed in one of the suites before Christmas as getting divorced and needed a place for the weekend. I live in the village and know the pub well as a local. Lee and Becky and Donna the rest of the staff couldn't have done more for me. Suite was amazing. Spacious modern clean. With somewhere to work, and the pub serves great food. I've eaten there many times, and it has always been good. Would thoroughly recommend.

Went for breakfast with my 15 yr old son after looking at the menu on line. It looked good on paper. I was looking forward to my favourite Stornaway black pudding which they advertised. I am Scottish and find it hard to get this is Surrey. It absolutely was not Stornaway black pudding. So disappointed. Full of fat. The sausage were not the best and the baked beans came in the smallest pot you could imagine. We left most of it. I can see it appeals to cyclists for a pit stop. But if you are looking for a decent breakfast I would definitely avoid.

Used the accommodation above the pub, nicely decked out rooms was the only positive. It was definitely overpriced as didn’t even come with breakfast. Biggest issue though was room security, it turns out 2 people (that we know of) were able to access our room and we were not informed of this by staff. I am still waiting for an explanation as to how this happened, and why were were not informed by the staff as soon as this came to their attention, with the offer of changing our door code?? Beware…clearly a free for all!

If I could give five stars for service, it would be right here, but unfortunately the food did not match up to the service on a recent visit. I don’t really want to give a bad review because the pub has had a lovely re-furb, is a great addition to the local community and the staff are fantastic. However, I think they need to think about their menu and the speed of service. We waited 35 minutes for three main courses. My lamb kofta/flatbread salad was really disappointing. The salad was served on top of the flatbread which made it go soggy (I was expecting it to be served on the side)? The salad consisted of 60% onion, with a chopped up lamb sausage hiding under the onion, which was supplemented with a small amount of cucumber and shredded cabbage. Apparently this was a big seller when it was on the specials board. All I can say is, if you like raw onion, this is the dish for you. For £17 it was a lot of money for very little. I think I will pick more carefully next time. Service 10 out of 10.

We found this place by luck and absolutely loved it. The brunch was amazing. The ginger waitress was very kind and extremely welcoming to accommodate our baby. The fact I’m french, love cyclism, and there was actually a race in my Britanny where I’m from originally, all was just bonuses. Highly recommended

We've come to Effingham to see family and take in some of the surrounding countryside. We rented an apartment over the pub which was ideal for 4 for us, with a bedroom, lounge/dinner with a perfectly appointed kitchenette too. It is clean, modern and very clean. We ate in the dinner in the pub, the kids had the woodfired pizza and milkshakes which they loved!! The pizza was thin and crispy, just how it should be and the milkshake was made from real malteseers much to my daughters delight. I had haddock and chips and the staff were more the happy to swap out the chips for salad, the fish was generous and the salad fresh, its was all delicious. My friend had ham hock with pickles, which she also enjoyed a lot. But the thing that stood out from out stay was how incredibly friendly and attentive all the staff were, when we complimented the food they told us the menu and the chef were both new. The breakfast menu looks amazing, so next time I'll make sure we make time for a long lazy brunch.

Ordered a take away.... buffalo mozzarella, med chargrilled veg and garlic bread...ended up with burnt garlic bread with no garlic on it just garlic salt ..burnt pizza with black olives and chargrilled miniscule sun-dried tomatoes. Total according to website should have been £20 but when collected charged £26 and told website hadn't been updated. When phoned to complain...asked if the miniscule amount of cheese (in the centre of the pizza ...the rest dry) was buffalo and told 'no sorry we've run out'. Not acceptable...say that when we order!! Only 2 people in the restaurant when we collected...not even an excuse for terrible food! It's a joke!

As a regular cyclist I have visited this pub many times and prior to if closing I had always had great experiences. My recent experiences left a bad taste, the coffee is undrinkable compared to previously and the food is not of the same quality. Forgot some of our order too I know you can do better, please restore it to its previous best

It is a good pub and the food is good (if you can wait a while). Was busy and not enough staff. Family left as they had been waiting ages). No parking (Had to park on small packed road), as there is no car park (What pub has no car park). So, in all an OK experience, wouldn't go back.

Superb Pizza, excellent service and a nice busy buzz. Really enjoyed the restaurant. Highly recommended. Would definitely return.

Had an excellent evening here on Saturday with 10 friends - great service and wonderful food. Good portions and all delicious, so much better than recent seasonal meals at another local pub. Very understanding about late cancellations owing to covid.

So pleased we have a new freshly refurbished pub in the area, and it’s more special than your average pub. Beautifully done inside. Attentive staff. Went for brunch with my daughter Eggs and avocado and Parma ham on malted bread Really delicious. And great service...

been here a number of times, sometimes just for drinks , sometimes to eat. Lots of new bench type tables out front, inside is very comfortable. Foot tasty, staff helpful & friendly, atmosphere casual and comfortable. give it a try
