Land & Sea is our must stop pub/restaurant when we visit Exmouth, super friendly and helpful staff, always really clean. Whether we are stopping for just a drink or for lunch, we are always welcomed with the same warmth. The food is delicious, lots of choice on the menu & lovely specials, we always find something different to eat each time & are never disappointed. The staff are very knowledgeable about the specials. Highly recommended and will be returning when we visit again

Lovely location, but the menu and food is a little disappointing. We popped in on the off chance they had a table and the young girl that served us was very sweet and helpful. I was hoping for a menu that had a few surprises with a good dose of chef’s magic. We all agreed the menu was average, our meals were nice , but a little over cooked either way a slightly dry steak & seafood. The price was faire, considering the location, I do feel that Devon is starting to out -price its self as you can pay the same in London. To summarise nice place, nice good with good staff, but no wow factor considering the price and location.

Food was good on the whole. Service poor. Wanted a second round of drinks after our starters but very hard to get any attention. Then once ordered took an age to arrive. When they did arrive they were dumped on the table and no effort to pick up the empty glasses. Sat with our empty plates for probably 20 mins, waitresses talking and not clearing tables. No attempt to offer dessert or coffees so we didn’t!! Nice restaurant, nice location just let down by poorly trained staff.

We ordered a coffee whilst waiting for the ferry, it looked a decent enough place to sit and enjoy a drink taking in the views across the marina, we had 20 minutes or so to kill, unfortunately after what seemed like forever I enquired where our coffee was and I'd decided to cancel our order as the ferry was about to board. It turned out our coffees were sat on the bar so I took up the kind offer of takeaway cups for our drinks, hmm, big mistake they were almost cold! Oh well, It happens!

First time visiting since name change and we have come here quite a few times. Waitress was lovely but didnt know the menu very well. My husband had the seafood linguine and I had the catch of the day. The food was good, but way too much, I must have had 7 very large new potatoes with my fish and the salad garnish was drenched in dressing. My husband couldn’t get half way through the amount of pasta he had. We shared the Eton mess for dessert, but again, even for 2 of us it was too much, too much cream and no ice cream served with it as stated in the menu. We noticed the same on the table of 6 next to us, so much food was left on the plates. There is a nice atmosphere here, staff are always friendly but not sure why the portions have become so big, seems to be a waste of food and a bit overwhelming for a nice dining restaurant like this.

Booked on 06/02 for the Wednesday steak evening - got a reminder on 19/03 reservation for 20/03 confirmed - only to be told on arrival that there was a private party booked - really!!! - they even had name on the bookings but did not even try and contact me. After asking for a glass of sparkling wine to down my sorrows - manager arrived with said glass but advised because of my attitude, he was not going to give me the glass. When other resteraunts exclude dogs require booking weeks ahead, offer slow service and overpriced food, point does just the opposite! We had heard a new chap had taken over so we decided to go for my birthday with 7 friends. On booking well in advance my husband informed them that it is my birthday and its important to have a quiet corner because i suffer real badly with tinnitus. We arrived, table set for 8 in middle of restaurant rather than in the corner where a large family were dining, their table would clearly have been more appropriate for us. Also the table was set up with 3 each side and one at each end but the tables had all the pull out bits pulled out so we all sat too far away from each other, especially the end guests couldnt speak without shouting to each other we rearranged this ourselves as the waitress didnt seem to really understand what we were saying. The food. The fish of the day, seabass I think, was amazing as was the pie, sadly i didnt order either of them, i had an aubergine thing, i love aubergines but didnt really like this, it needed some sour cream/yogurt or something , just looked like splodge and tasted like it. I also ordered the scallops which came in a sort of tasteless thin soup, not what i expected. Plum and apple crumble for dessert, cant go wrong surely!. The fruit was hard and massive. Now i know its fashionable for veg to be aldente but surely not fruit in a crumble, i actually couldnt cut it small enough with a spoon to get in my mouth it was so hard. Oh and yes, it was MY birthday...not a candle, not a chocolate, nothing... when larry re-mentioned it he was told oh we dont have any candles, end of conversation.... Happy birthday to me!

The menu wasn't huge, but we tried a varied selection, the children's portions were huge and the burgers were delicious (as my son couldn't finish his 🍔 chef made patty by the taste of it from prime steak. Anyways I'm waffling on, the drinks were fairly priced as was the food, the fresh fish and chips, the fantastic belly pork and the guinea fowl, all tasted great and nothing was left.. top marks. Quite diasapointed with this place, came in around 1515 on a Sunday afternoon, place wasn't too busy and there were plenty of staff, sat on table quite close to the bar but it seems that I have become invisible as no one came to give me a menu or take my order, 10 min later I went up there myself and asked for a menu, I ordered the see food platter starter, half a lobster main and a drink, asked specifically for the drink to come with the food, 5 min later my drink came, Pepsi with ice.. 25min passed with no signs of any food coming anytime soon, until they came to me with the wrong starter and the mains all at the same time, had to cancel the strater as there was no point of waiting again for god knows how long and having the starter after my mains, I also had to wait even further as they didn't bring any cutlery with the food. The lobster main itself was a huge disappointment, smallest lobster I have ever seen, salad and chips were delicious to be fair, but def not worth £25,nonetheless ate my food drank my Pepsi which at this point 30min later has now become just icy water with Pepsi suryp, to add insult to injury, there weren't a single apology made by any of the staff. Won't be back for sure.

My experience at this restaurant was disappointing due to a clear lack of management. Although the individuals working the bar and serving were not at fault, there were only two of them catering to multiple groups during lunchtime. Initially, we sat outside for 15 minutes without any interaction or acknowledgement from the staff. We then decided to move inside to seek service, but after trying to order at the bar, we were informed that it was table service only. Another 20 minutes passed inside without any service, so we ultimately decided to leave. While other reviews indicate that the food is of good quality, we will not be returning to try it. It is important for restaurants to have adequate staffing and clear communication to ensure a positive dining experience for their customers.

Food was really good - starters of the fish board, my own mussels and, most surprisingly, hummus and flatbread were all good. I say surprisingly about the hummus as it can be a little drab but this was really excellent. My partner opted for mussels for the main and they were tasty although the actual shellfish were very small and the sauce was a little bland. The fish and chips were declared excellent but were a little expensive. Two of us opted for the "smoked haddock Welsh rarebit" which proved to be one of the tastiest dishes l have had in a good while. However we were both surprised that it was just fish, cheese and cucumber - if ever a dish cried out for some new potatoes to bulk it out a little... Our hosts are regulars there and made their surprise known and a free portion of chips and side salad were provided, making it the meal it should have been. Good restaurant, great location but I remain surprised by the size of my mains. Would happily revisit

Mixed feelings really. Have used their toilets multiple times before due to no public toilets nearby, and finally decided to become a customer - except the food was pretty fancy and menu said there’s an automatic 12.5% gratuity applied, so sadly decided against it. No wonder they’re not bothered about people using their toilet, because they’re probably raking it in

Just enjoyed a fab meal here. Staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. Menu was varied and delicious, I had catch of the day served on the bone which was plaice. Everything was presented beautifully. We had the table we requested with a view of the Marina. As good as Mallorca any day. Excellent choice of drinks and coffees. My partner is vegetarian and there was a good choice available. Toilets were spotless and well decorated. There is seating outside as well. A very tasty experience. Recommended.

We had been here before 9 months previously and really liked it as the food was fresh and delicious so we were looking forward to our return visit. Very disappointed this time however the choice on the menu was very limited, the staff seemed to rush us and the 12% added to our bill seemed unwarrented.

The best fish and chips we've ever had. The drinks were lovely, better coffee than in a coffee shop and lovely cakes to go with it. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Literally cant fault anything.

Had cod & chips. Sadly extremely greasy chips. So much so that the box had a puddle in the bottom. Not good and inedible (shame as it was a decent portion). The fish was marginally better and seemed fresh but batter very soggy with grease.

Went in Friday early evening 5 of us and my granddaughter. The waitress recommended the slow cooked pork, it was piping hot and absolutely delicious one had burger one had Thai green curry and steak for the others. It was an excellent meal all round and the waitress couldn't do enough for us. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you for a great meal.

Been to Hughsies again for a few meals while on holiday in Seaton. Lovely breakfasts freshly cooked and good service. Lunches were a more difficult choice as there was a good selection and I know from experience that whatever we chose would be delicious. I have seen a number of negative comments on here but my husband and I have never had a problem. Nice clean cafe and good fresh cooked meals. We will be back again next year.
