Steak night and quiz night! Excellent host, who clearly was working hard to make everything go well.. Well done! Really enjoyed it all and will be back.

The food was good with a nice varied menu. We felt the place lacked a bit of atmosphere and charm, the single staff member was nice.

Came here for Sunday lunch with the family. Food was lovely. Big portions. The meat wasn't chewy at all. Staff were friendly. Quite busy, so I would book a table on a Sunday to avoid disappointment.

Having been badly let down last minute by a local pub/eatery in Otterton, our friends having booked weeks in advance , we were very grateful to secure a table for 8 people at “The Otter” on Saturday evening with very little notice. We were so pleased with this place. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly but also very professional. The food menu was varied with lots of choice that would certainly suit most tastes and was not overpriced, making this an all round superb choice. “The Otter” team really do deserve to succeed, as they not only saved us from a massive letdown, but also offered what we believe was better food ,better service, and a far better experience than we would have otherwise had . If I had to pass any criticism at all , it would be a need for softer lighting in the evenings and maybe table candles to give it a bit more atmosphere. Little things I know, but they can make a difference. it was otherwise perfect for our needs . We will definitely be back….

Fantastic place! Arrived with a party of 12 and gave short notice, they were happy to accommodate. Not a single complaint from anyone, we were all jealous of each others food. Ribs were amazing, all burgers cooked to perfection and the kids loved their pizza. Our friend who is gluten free was surprised at the number of options she had. Good selection of beers, Timothy Taylor being my personal favourite. Children had a great time in the play area too.

Had high hopes as under new management but sadly not. Asked for 1 roast without red cabbage, came with it and no carrots like my husband had. Cold food and plates, roast potatoes stale/ hard and vegetables so hard unable to cut. Given free desserts to compensate but didn’t make up for very disappointing meal. Never to return, such a shame. Price top end.

Great food, staff friendly and helpful, Great service

Prompt, polite and friendly service. Updates on the food as it was being prepared. Tasty produce. And attentive during the meal. The beer was well kept and the wine went down a treat. Prices were reasonable for a table of 5. Will definitely return. Looking forward to seeing the business go from strength to strength.

We had another lovely meal at the Otter inn. I had belly pork, which is my ultimate favourite there, The waitress Diamond was very attentive as always a real asset to the very helpful team. This is our new local pub.

Lovely village pub, which has been modernised on the inside since our last visit. Staff were very welcoming and served us food even though we were a little late in getting there to order. I had the Pork, which was £19 and worth every penny. Highly recommend ⭐️ We will definitely visit again on our holiday next year.

Really, really nice meal. Lovely friendly service and welcome. Reasonably priced meals. Very nice surroundings/grounds too. Not noisy at all. We were too full for desserts but the mains (4 different meals were ordered), were well cooked and generous in portion size. Thanks for a lovely evening! Will be back soon...

this restaurant is very accommodating for large parties (we had 13), food was excellent with quick service even though they were busy. the staff are lovely and attentive, quick service. food was fresh and delicious also.

Food was ok, had a basket meal but i chose chunky chips but a fair few of them were uncooked.

We went for the Sunday roast one of which was inedible as the meat had a big lump of gristle running through the meat and some of the vegetables were cold The ladies toilets were not the best one cubicle had what i would like to think was water around the loo and one of the soap dispenser’s were empty… i reported this to the female employee and she said that she cleaned them earlier but was run off her feet and hadn’t had time to check them!

Had a roast lunch.. absolutely amazing. Fantastic beef, very large portions. Would definitely recommend.

Four different meals, all cooked well and presented nicely. Loads of ribs, we'll- cooked steak with plenty of chips, lasagne made with beef brisket rather than minced beef and belly pork with plenty of lean meat. Good service. Drastically improved compared to the previous owners. Treacle tart was delicious as was apple and very crumble.

Food was delicious, but large quantities. There was no pork crackling, so 4 stars rather than 5 stars. Super tasty.

Good food, shame the service let it down. Went for a meal this weekend and the food was good. Unfortunately our drinks were forgotten and only arrived 25 minutes later having asked another member of staff. Our soft drinks were 'on the house' but unfortunately only 1 fruit shoot was removed. Would I return? Yes, for the food. But I would probably reset my expectations as the service did not match up to the reviews.

Highly recommend, Father’s Day Sunday roast was probably the best I’ve had. Very friendly staff and great beer garden with park.

Very relaxing, we sat outside and was very calming. On the 12th we returned and sat inside. Lovely abiant music, comfy furniture and good ale. Suggested trying to offer dog ice cream as its so dog friendly. You can also take dogs in the restaurant too. Love it here. My local when we stay at Ladram Bay. 5*

We were staying just up the road at Drupe Farm and visited a couple of times. The food is excellent, good size portions and the landlord is very friendly and helpful. Large beer garden and you are not on top of each other. Good if you have dogs. Would highly recommend.

First time at the Otter Inn. We took a friend out to lunch and my wife had the cheese ploughman's and we both had the haddock and chips all three meals were beautifully cooked and very good value for money plus the service was exceptional. A must to visit again and a definite recommendation to others. Many thanks for a lovely time folks and look forward to seeing you again soon.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Otter Inn for Sunday dinner, and it was one of the best experiences I've had! The portion sizes were generous, and the beef was incredibly tender. The service was exceptional, with Anthony, the new manager, sharing his extensive knowledge, and Richard making us feel right at home with his friendly and welcoming demeanor. We have a caravan nearby, and after discovering this gem with its delicious food and spacious beer garden, we'll definitely be returning. If you're a local or just visiting the area, I highly recommend giving the Otter Inn a try!

The food at The Otter Inn was incredible! We never intended to go to eat here as we were actually looking for the other Otter Inn. However, it was meant to be as the food was to die for! My husband had the BBQ ribs with home made BBQ sauce and it was simply the BEST bbq sauce I've ever tried (always have a taster of his lol!) Where I had the belly pork slow roast with mash, tenderstem brocoli, maple carrots and the most amazing gravy!! OMG the gravy AND the meat were spectacular. Enough to say we will be eating here again!!

Just popped in for a quiet meal. The service was fast and friendly. And the food was outstanding! Between us we had the gammon and chips and the fish and chips. The gammon was spot on and very tasty, and as for the fish and chips. Well the fish was perf ct! Very tasty indeed and the beer batter was fabulous. Then the chips were definitely the best I have ever had! We would highly recommend popping in and having a meal. The price was very reasonable too. We are already looking forward to going back soon

Had a lovely lunch at the Otter inn today, The food was spot on, I had steak which was cooked perfectly and my grandson had the fish which he was very impress with, Service was brilliant and the staff was very welcoming. We will be definitely be going back again.

Stayed with our motorhome for a free night stopover in exchange for dining in the pub. Very smartly refurbished with a wonderful welcome from very friendly staff. Food was excellent. Not cheap pub grub but great menu and well worth it. Great range of Badger ales and others. Highly recommended. Will go again.

The food is so delicious, especially the Sunday roast! Four of us had 3 courses and there were no complaints at all, each dish was perfect. All the staff are also really friendly & attentive.

We popped by for lunch here. We shared a ploughman’s and ate outside in the sunshine. Staff were really friendly, the ploughman’s was huge, and delicious - fresh baked bread, big hunks of cheese and homemade chutneys. We were really pleasantly surprised. The new owners are making a big effort, and it shows.

Can’t fault this place been a couple of times now and it just keeps getting better. Thanks to the team and chef Andre keep up the good work

Having known the Otter Inn for some years, I was delighted to see how the new owners have transformed it into a proper country pub that really does cater for all. The food was lovely, the beer was well managed and affordable and the staff, especially Emily, were all very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. I really felt the old pub has come back to life and is now offering a top quality venue. Thank you to all involved for making the Otter Inn a must visit pub within East Devon.

Just stopped off here for lunch after a dog walk. My husband and I shared a ploughman’s in the garden in the sunshine. The staff were super friendly, the ploughman’s was very generous and fantastic value - big hunks of cheese, served with a lovely big fresh side salad and homemade (?) chutneys. The new owners are doing really well, and obviously making a big effort. We’ll be back to try the Sunday lunch.

Very nice evening meal at the otter inn, I’ll be honest we never even knew it was there and we have been coming to Devon for years. We did a search for restaurants and this place came up. 100% worth a visit from start to finish the service was great and we will definitely be back. Everything was cooked to perfection My recommendation would be the mixed grill it was great and we also had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Let’s help get this amazing little pub and restaurant on the map as they deserve the customers.

We visited while on holiday in the area. After arriving and sitting down we were ignored for about 10 minutes until we were brought the menu. With only 2 people serving we had a long wait to order and felt like we were forgotten about. Apart from that lovely food which came out quick after ordering.

I brought my daughter here for an evening meal. We were not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the haddock and chips and she the burger meal. Will definitely be returning

What a transformation! Visited with family over Easter and had a great meal for 6 ( 4 Adults and 2 young children) Food and choice was superb! Great friendly attentive service as well ! Must be one of the best value for money eating venues for miles around. New owners definitely know how to run a pub/ restaurant. Only slight negative point to-date is that the restaurant area was a little cold and decor slightly soulless, but it’s very early days for the new owners and I’m sure they will have plans to upgrade this. Highly recommended- Will definitely return!

My wife and had a three course Sunday lunch. I was impressed with the meal! The quantity of meat was generous and the vegetables were cooked perfectly! The carrots and parsnips are kept chunky and looked great on the plate. The tender stem broccoli and red cabbage were full of flavour and added lovely colour to the dish. My wife can’t eat gluten and there were several gluten free options on the menu too, which is great to see. The staff here are excellent. Polite, efficient and very good at their jobs. They strike a great balance of being relaxed yet professional. Their manner really put us at ease. We drank white wine with the meal and there were 5 to choose from and all reasonably priced in our opinion. We live local and have previously eaten here before when he had pizzas, which are delicious! The owners of the pub also own The Marine in Sidmouth where they have a similar menu so the pizzas feature there too. I’d 100% recommend stopping in for a pizza! They serve an interesting IPA called Neck Oil here, and it’s fantastic. Zesty and moreish! I’ve not tasted anything like it anywhere else and I’m completely hooked! Great pub. Great food. Great staff. I couldn’t ask for more. I feel I should add some criticism to make this a balanced review but I’m genuinely struggling. So I’ll be very picky and say that I’d like the music to be slightly louder in the restaurant! Apart from that, I wouldn’t change a thing

Fantastic meal here tonight with the family. Food was amazing! Very good value and the staff were very friendly and attentive especially Charlie❤️ would highly recommend this place it has changed hands, been revamped and definitely upped its reputation a great find!! Xx 5 star!!

Had a lovely Sunday roast and staff were very friendly and looked after us well. Would have been an excellent review but the dining area was very cold and quite a bland space. Could do with some heat, warmer lighting and better decor.

We had a fantastic experience here today, everything was spot on, the food was incredible, I had a roast beef Sunday roast, it was the best roast I can remember! They catered perfectly for my partner who is celiac too. The service was great, lovely people, they were welcoming, attentive and seemed to really care, the atmosphere was lovely , relaxed and pleasant. I highly recommend the Otter Inn, well worth travelling extra miles if you want the extra experience!

A very dear friend and I came here for lunch. We both really enjoyed our respective meals. They had the mushrooms while I had a burger. The bun was obviously made on the site as well. The beef was local. Given that I driven 2 hours to spend time with my friend and have a meal the whole experience was very satisfying.

Whilst on holiday last week we were searching for a dog friendly, family restaurant or pub and this place came up on the search What a find! The service was superb with attentive, friendly and efficient staff Our meals were fantastic, the menu is very good with plenty of choice and worth checking out the specials board Cannot recommend this place highly enough 👍

We were passing and stopped in for an impromptu lunch. We received a warm welcome in this pub, which is tastefully decorated and clean. The menu had a range of options for different tastes and appetites, all for a reasonable price. Our burger and rump steak were delicious. I highly recommend the chunky chips! We received great service throughout and would be keen to visit when we're in the area again.

The first time ever going to the otter inn and it was absolutely amazing. the food was delicious, they catered well for my son too (even bringing a black board from him to draw on 😂). Just returned home after our 4pm late Mother’s Day lunch I wasn’t expecting much. But how wrong was I. It was brilliant the Roast beef was cooked perfectly and was as tender as it could have been. All served with lashings of beefy gravy. We will definitely be going back for more Keep up the good work.

This pub has been under new management since mid-January 2024. They don’t disappoint. All the staff are extremely friendly. Service is prompt. And efficient. The food was cooked to perfection. Generous portions. Lovely menu and refreshing to see more variety than just your “standard” pub...

Stayed there in my Motorhome and ate in the pub, also had a few drinks, the staff were fantastic, really welcoming and friendly, would definitely stay again if in the area.

Although the food here tastes fairly well I think 2 sausages a bit of mash and peas priced at £14.95 is well overpriced in these days where thousands of pubs are closing down I think some need to look at their prices and see if they can lower even by only £2 I'm sure that more people would then eat out just my opinion

Reasonably priced food, area at the back of main carpark which can accommodate vans. Very quiet for a hot Tuesday night... usual rules apply, eat food in pub or at least drink in the pub... Had the seafood platter with chunky chips and peas or salad, £13.00 each. Very reasonably priced. Bit on the small side of you like bigger portions but ample.

We popped in here for a Sunday roast with the family and were pleased with the quality of the meal and the value. There were three different meats on offer for the roast and everything was well cooked, including the vegetables, which places often manage to turn into mush. In terms of room for improvement, the tables were incredibly small so you were bumping elbows with the person next to you. I understand it is a big expense to change tables, but perhaps when they refurbish in the future they could get bigger tables, they have plenty of room for it. Service was a little bit slow, but it was a busy summer day and so that is understood.

having recieved a very nice welcome we decided to sit in the restaurant as the bar seating was not suitable for eating for us. The waitress was very nice. We all ordered the steak and ale pies. when they arrived we should have copped on to the fact the pastry had burnt gravy on it and was so tough a chisel would have been in order. The filling was tasteless albiet the meat was very tender. We were asked if we wanted them changed as we had waited half an hour for the first ones we declined the offer. We were the only ones in there. Deeply dissappointed.

Real Ale, The Rump Steak was as expected for rump (a bit of a chew in places) Top Marks for being a campervan motorhome stopover for 3 units. Great location and big garden. Warm friendly interior. Free Wi-fi.

We came across this little gem while trying to find somewhere to eat on the August bank holiday Sunday afternoon. No where had availability and we carried on driving and found The Otter Inn had a table free. The food was beautiful, we all had a roast and thoroughly enjoyed it, plenty of food, even the small size was ample, both children finished the lot!! Desserts were also amazing, chocolate brownie, strawberry cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were to die for, again, empty dishes. Beautiful food, friendly staff and modern decor, what a lovely village pub, I'm sure we'll be back when next on holiday nearby.

Excellent Sunday lunch, new owners welcoming and all very good. Previous reviews of pub should not put people off, it is now well worth a visit.
