The Ploughboy in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Popped in today on the off chance that food was still being served. It was and they took orders until 14.30. Lovely food enjoyed by all. Sirloin steak perfect and Cumberland sausage was delicious and that was said by 2 very fussy eaters! Better than food we were served at a four star resort not a 10 minute drive away. Thank you.

Lovely catch up with friends for a few drinks and a meal. Curry was lovely, as was fish and chips and our friend’s steak. Good value and lovely service from our young member of the team.

I had the Steak and it was cooked to perfection. I don't normally have steak as I'm fussy with steaks. But it was lovely Lewis you did a fab job definitely will be back.

Lovely family lunch with consideration taken for family member with allergies at a welcoming pub. Great service and dog friendly.

Very bland tasteless carvery. Meat poor taste, roast potatoes were mush. Very limited vegetable selection. Half of the staff very good the other half seem grumpy and obviously dont enjoy working here.Will not be going again.

There was no starters, they have broken hand dryers, food variety is poor, easy to get lost when traveling to it, England flags everywhere

On visiting the area for the first time we prebooked a table for 7 people for food. All meals were excellent value, hot, tasty and served quite quickly. We then stayed for a few drinks and watched the live band that were performing. All staff welcomed us and were friendly and accommodating. We all had a great night, just wished we could have stayed longer.

Good pub grub - had the fish and chips were very tasty with a plentiful portion. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Went for dinner, we wanted different things from the printed menu, they were very accommodating and gave us what we wanted, was airy and bright, drinks and food served quickly, bar staff couldn’t have been anymore helpful My only niggle was children running up and down like a playground when there is actually a lovely area outside but that has no bearing on the food or staff, probably just there at the wrong time

An impressively large pub with car parking, which does great food and also caters for events...etc. We went here one weekday for lunch. The food was lovely, piping hot and tasty. I had a vegetarian option and my husband meat pie. The staff were friendly too. We noticed that the venue has live music sometimes, which we will take a look at one day as we live locally. Well done guys!

Booked the function room for a staff get together. We had the carvery curry . 3 different curry’s, rice ,Nan bread and chips . Curry was lovely every one enjoyed it . The staff are friendly. We would definitely booked again . Thank you to the Ploughboy.

What a difference! Really lovely, freshly cooked, well presented and tasty food at reasonable prices. Even tried the dessert which was also lovely. Will definitely be back.

Haven’t been here for a long time but have to say great value for money, I had ham, egg and chips and my friend had the fish and chips, 2 meals for £14! Will definitely be back x

Hubby and I popped in for a mid-week lunch and, although the same old Ploughboy (a bit tired these days), it felt fresh and clean with no sticky carpet. The staff were really nice and friendly too. We got a drink and a table then looked at the menu. The prices were exceeding good with an added bonus of getting 2 meals cheaper if you ordered certain dishes. I opted for rump steak and chips and it was absolutely delicious. Will definitely use this local of ours more often now I know the food is so nice.

Booked for 1. Told couldn’t order carvery til half past. Hostess trolley set up, under cooked parsnips, dry vegetables, stingy with the meat. Slow service for hot drinks. Puddings left a lot to be desired. Disappointed

We have used the Ploughboy a fair amount and have watched it changed hands quite frequently. I have to say, we popped in for a carvery today. It was one of the nicest we have ever had there. Really nice! Lovely staff and good food. It’s great to see it in good hands with good food again.

Called in for lunch on 26th December 2022.. There were three of us. One had scampi and chips and myself and the third member of our party had ham egg and chips. Quality was very good and the chips were particularly good. Service was prompt and staff were helpful. Price wise very acceptable.

Oh dear, the menu didn’t even have any starters and frankly I should have gone to McDonald’s. There was a reason why I was the only person in the bar eating. It was cheap but this place definitely needs someone to realise the potential. I have given 3 stars and not two for one reason and that was there was the ugliest dog in the bar dressed up in Xmas garb that made me smile. Thanks to the dog

Delicious. Huge plate of food. 3 meats. The pub was busy the day we went. It must be good if it’s busy. We didn’t book. But Karen still managed to seat us. Lovely hospitality.

Had a drink on arrival ordered our meals table for four two mixed grills ,ham egg and chips and a lasagna All meals arrived very hot and plenty of had a very good 👍 birthday place was packed.

What is wrong with you people. Heating on full blast in the toilets and Poole Room which was empty. Had heard some great reviews..didn't look on here before our visit. Use to be regulars years with Joan and Mike. 45 minutes of waiting and we spoke to barperson..it wasn't even being cooked. Two ham.eggs and chips. We would have been in Weatherspoons normally. Have never in ten years needed to go to TripAdvisor and complain with them. They know what people want. We gave you a chance. Drove out of our way to support you. Sadly we will not be back. Shame on you. It could be fantastic.

Awfull and cold don't pay extra for large it's the same the server dident even look at ticket had to Waite for good and still cold and not worth the money

Love this pub! They've brought in about 20 flavoured gins and we love trying them on our girls nights. Even better they have homemade cheesecakes. We tried the snickers one and it was fab.

The service from the establishment is of nothing great to had said the least. Watched a member of staff remove a pint from someone and continue to throw this away which in turn went over another customer. Also, whilst trying to sort a situation and explaining to staff. They happen to be of some what rude and get extremely uptight and defensive. Never been a regular haunt only for occasional drink and that for the boxing day rugby but, this place has gone down hill and so shall the other pub they've taken on in saltash will also do so.Such a shame as got potential to be a very good pub.

We ate at the Ploughboy on Friday and Saturday night as a family of 4. Both nights my daughter had the Cod and cleared the plate both times. My wife had the Lasagne the first night and really enjoyed it and the same the second night when she had the nachos. My son and I had combinations of the chicken strips and chicken wings both nights and again everything was cleared. The staff were friendly and helpful. We did arrive on the saturday after they should have stopped taking orders but they agreed to take our order which was appreciated. We were staying in the travelodge in Saltash and we therefore had limited options. The pub is a 10 minute walk past lidl through an industrial estate which allowed us both to have a couple of drinks. Would highly recommend the food.

Been here for a drink and some food several times over the past 5 years or so and it was a good pub. Visited last Sunday evening and it was shockingly poor. Only one poor guy serving behind the bar and waiting on tables. Not busy foodwise but bothmine and wife's s two different chicken dishes served barely lukewarm and she lefthers totally. The bar manager was very polite and apologetic but we won' to be backunless pub owners spruce it up and employ more bar staff and a competent chef.

Friendly local pub and well organised in these post lockdown times. Food was great - Hunters Burger a particular highlight. Will be back.

Down to earth local that has friendly staff and absolutely brilliant burgers. I thought they must have made them themselves, but apparently they were bought in from a local butcher..... Hats off to the butcher and the staff.

Heard good reviews but unfortunately the fish and chips were awful and way overpriced compared to cod fathers! The fish was obviously frozen which wouldn’t have been an issue if it had tasted nice. The fish was very watery, the chips and portion size was good. Just wasn’t a good meal unfortunately I’m sadly disappointed.

We were lucky enough to win a competition to have some food from the Ploughboy. Really surprised by the portion size!! Chicken burger was so tasty and so many chips!! We also had puddings and it was just like a home made dessert. Really really nice!!! Looking forward to returning for good quality family meals when this is all over.

We ordered halloumi fried and goujons then 2 x bacon cheeseburgers. They were absolutely huge, really tasty and hot! Very reasonably priced. Halloumi fries were the best! Plus there were loads of them!! Can not reccomend enough!

We have had a few takeaways from The Plough during Lockdown. The food was piping hot , plentiful and excellent quality. By far the best takeaway food we have ever had. Today my colleagues and I had lunch delivered by the wonderful staff at The Ploughboy. It was a wonderful pass it forward gesture for our hard working pharmacy staff. I loved the food before lock down but recently found out they were doing take away. Today I had a cheese and bacon burger and my son had fish and chips. It was hot and delicious and will definitely be ordering again.
