We met here for a big family get together. We were given 'The Stables' section of the pub and it was perfect. We met at 11am for tea/coffee and then the pub put on a delicious buffet lunch with excellent fresh dishes and great desserts. Thank you for providing us with an excellent event!

Could be a gem. But it isn't. Been here many times over the years, this was the worst! Stood in a queue of 6 patient people waiting for incredibly slow bar service. No attempt to speed or apology. Took 16 minutes to serve. Then 2 weeks later get a parking ticket for 100£ for parking in the pub car park. Apparently you're meant to give your number in but it really isn't clear. No discussion when I rang to complain. Cynical way to make up for terrible service. Go to the Trout or Perch.

Great pub with amazing staff & landlord 2nd time visiting this pub over a 4 years gap both times the staff and food were amazing ! A must visit especially if your on a canal boat !

Went for an early dinner and parked in car park while I checked they were serving as this was not covered on their website. This took a while as the only server was busy. Unfortunately the kitchen did not open for another 30 minutes which did not work for me. Went back to my car and left. A few days later I got a parking ticket from an ANPR system they have in their car park. My car was in the car park for 15 minutes while I was in the pub and while I was waiting to ask about food. No one in The Plough told me there was a need to enter my registration number in any system and I did not see a system. Very unimpressed. Maybe they feel its better to make money from motorists than sell food. I will not be visiting again.

Lovely pub, great location, good service. Just don't have the veggie burger! It was honestly the worst one I've ever had (like a reconstituted vegetable soup from a packet made a bit solid and formed into a patty). So bored with pubs serving up rubbish vegetarian food like we've got no taste buds

Absolutely amazing pub. I booked for a staff Christmas Dinner. They were so helpful and accommodating from first contact. Catering for all Intolerances etc. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was fantastic. The food... omg best food I've had out in ages. Definitely worth every penny. It's a shame I'm not local, but if I'm up this way again, I will be returning. Thank you all

We come back every year for a girls night out. Wonderful pub with such lovely staff and the owner is just delightful. Food fantastic and worth every penny. Highly recommend this ‘real pub’ at Christmas. Lovely decorated and very Christmassy. Can’t wait to come again next year!

We had dinner at The Plough Saturday evening and also returned for Sunday roast on Sunday. As usual we had a very warm welcome when we arrived and our drinks order was taken as soon as we were ready. After ordering food it was served within about ten minutes on both occasions. The food was faultless. Cooked perfectly and so tasty. All the staff were friendly, polite and chatty. Nothing was too much trouble. Both occasions they were quite busy and coped well with the demand. Very reasonably priced We have no hesitation in recommending The Plough, Wolvercote Green, Wolvercote, Oxford.

Recent BBC Clips about Rudest Restaurant In The World should come to The Plough for lessons. This by far and away the rudest restaurant I have ever visited. Abominable service mediocre food that took 1 hour to serve two starts and a main and had the nerve to charge £ 1:50 for 500 ml of soda water x 2. = £3:00 / litre. twice the price of petrol. Then had the nerve to bill me for £ 52 and charge my card for £ 62:15. That is Daylight Robbery and illegal. BEWARE. DO NOT DINE AT THIS RUDE RESTAURANT AND CAREFULLY CHECK THE CHARGE ON YOUR CARD. I am outraged. There are definitely degrees of abomination and this is the bottom of the barrel.

The pub sits alongside a canal and some fields with indoor seating and a large patio seating area. Kids and dogs are welcome and there is a playground in the fields as well as a dog menu. The pub itself is a mishmash of styles including the service. The quality of service varies widely between staff and is little like Fawlty Towers meets Little Britain. The food choices are not typical of most pubs but are tasty and reasonably priced. Somehow it all works and is an enjoyable experience.

We were staying in the hotel nearby and wandered down to this pub with the kids for dinner. The menu is extensive with something to suit everyone and the portions are generous. The place has a lovely cosy, local pub vibe and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Wish there was a pub like this at the end of our road! Will definitely return if we’re in the area again.

This is a pub we've been going to for decades, and it was a favourite of my friend who died near the start of Lockdown. We had to have a very small funeral, and his daughters wanted to celebrate his life at last. The pub gave us full, free use of their "library" room with access to a TV screen to connect to a laptop for a slideshow of photos of and by him. They didn't demand that we buy a catering package, though I know they do offer them, but were content to serve drinks and food as people wanted to order them. They allowed us to use our small portable record player so that we could play albums from his vast collection, and no one in other parts of the pub seemed to mind. The staff were lovely (they always are, to be honest) and the food was excellent and well priced. The Plough opens on to Wolvercote Green, just yards from the Oxford Canal, so the setting is lovely too. His friends were able to gather and reminisce about him, just as we hoped, and we left feeling we'd done him justice at last. It was a very positive experience that we'd waited a long time for, and we are very grateful to The Plough for facilitating it.

We visited on a wet Sunday with my son daughter in law and Luna It was busy but not loud and no kids running around. A great atmosphere Staff were very friendly and helpful. The landlord cooks the roast dinners on a Sunday We had 4 roast beef dinners with Yorkshire pudding all homemade very fresh vegetables it was very tasty. Plenty of meat roast potatoes and vegetables very delicious. The landlord even came over to speak to us which was really nice touch. There was plenty of outside and inside space very clean inside and outside pluses the toilets. I would really recommend this lovely pub and restaurant. We will be back Thank you for a lovely hearty lunch. It's dog friendly which is great as we take out little French bulldog Luna everywhere with us she had lots of fuss which she loved.

Food was horrible, looking at other reviews it seems the kitchen must have been shut and they got us something from another 1 * pub.. Food thrown on plate, chips cooked in old oil and did not look like other people's pictures of food.. Onion rings were soggy and greasy.. Burger was okish but just burger and cheese.. Home cooked ham and egg was packet ham.. 1 star food but so different to other images people shared I had to double check it was the right place..

I visited this pub with some colleagues. They accommodated 14 of us with no issue and couldn’t do enough to make our visit really excellent. The food was great and the staff were lovely - highly recommend.

A great pub in a wonderful setting! Tim and Katie and the team have worked wonders in adapting to the many restrictions re COVID. The service is friendly, fast and efficient and you don’t have to book, just turn up and wait to be seated. You can sit in their courtyard, or on the Green. You can even bring your own camp chairs! It’s very child and dog friendly and best of all, they serve great real ale, introducing ones from different breweries on a regular basis. Very nice Tribute at the moment!

Visit following a walk to JRR Tolkien’s grave and along the canal. Very good pint of Tribute and glad to find Stones’s Ginger Wine - a rare treat. Treacle Sponge and Custard is the best I’ve ever had. Reasonably priced and welcoming to us and our dog. Interesting to hear about the ‘Inspector Morse’ links and local history.

We ate here as a family last week and we enjoyed it so much that we went back again the next evening. The pub offers a really nice setting for couples/families and even during these difficult times the staff done an amazing job and really made us feel comfortable. The food is what you expect from a proper traditional pub (I strongly recommend the steak and ale pie) and we will definitely be returning on our next visit to Oxford.

Good outside and inside seating. Well organised for Covid measures. Met at entrance and signed in for track and trace. Drinks served to table and good spacing. We eat there one night and the food was very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this

Went here on Saturday 15th February. Nice cosy pub with good beer, booked in advance but we needn’t have as it was surprisingly quiet. We had the Valentines 3 course menu, very reasonably priced and every course was a winner. Soup was amazing and the beef rib was cooked perfectly, other members of our party had halloumi and monkfish which were equally yummy. Dessert was also very good with ample portions of cheese and biscuits, crumble and chocolate cake. Can’t believe it wasn’t rammed as the food was excellent, probably something to do with storm Dennis! Staff very friendly and attentive would definitely recommend

I booked Christmas lunch for my extended family at the Plough on 15th December (the 5th year running). The food was excellent and the meals were served very efficiently table by table to all 23 of us, so it was all hot and no one had to wait. There was a really good choice on the menu for all 3 courses which catered well for both vegetarians and meat eaters. All the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended.

Great pub food at a good pub price. What a fantastic little surprise, randomly searched local pubs to the Jury Inn and this was close by. First night of a girlie weekend, all that was needed was good pub food, the obligatory wine and a nice atmosphere - wow did we land on our feet!! The pub from the outside at night gave us doubts but inside it was warm welcoming & festively decorated - a traditional cosy pub. The menu was simple but effective with great pricing & really good pub food. Nowadays pub menus are over priced, too fancy and too complicated making it difficult for kitchens to provide good quality. The ploughs menu gave enough choice with ‘specials’ but not overly complicated and the food was delicious. Great quality, fantastic portion sizes & warm welcoming service. Couldn’t fault it! Great family run pub start to finish. The toilets were clean and well kept but could reflect the warmth of the pub more rather than community hall style - but if that’s all I can critique then that’s not bad. I’d recommend the mucky chips!

Veldig koselig pub som samler mange av lokalbefolkningen på en lørdag formiddag. God mat, god kake og god stemning. Absolutt verdt turen. Stien langs kanalen var stengt pga utbedring, men når den åpner igjen vil den være den perfekte ruten å gå fra Oxford sentrum.

Stayed overnight at the Jury Hotel with a bus trip. This pub is a short walk and well worth the effort and so much cheaper than eating in the hotel. We had a lovely meal. The landlord was very welcoming and the pub has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

We visited this pub for an evening meal this weekend. Overall very nice. I had a homemade black and blue burger which was delicious. The plate lacked about of greenery. However I was asked if I wanted chips or salad and opted for chips and this is exactly what I got.

Had an excellent meal at The Plough this evening. It is the second time we’ve visited this pub and on both occasions we’ve chosen from the specials, and they have been excellent. Hot plates, lovely vegetables and potatoes to accompany a delicious meal. The staff are very friendly and courteous. We thoroughly recommend The Plough in Wolvercote.

This pub served the best fish and chips I have had for years. They produce their own beer and the staff is friendly and helpfull. I recommend this place.

We were looking for somewhere we could hold a 'sit down dinner' for 18 and were not disappointed by The Plough. There was a good selection on the menu, something for everyone, timely arrival of the courses and great service. Having use of The Library made it very homely. In addition there was a good selection of real ales.There staff were good at keeping in touch after the booking was made.

Un par de excelentes pintas de cerveza (cerveza) con amigos en el "jardín" exterior adyacente al green del pueblo y luego un almuerzo modesto dentro de las avispas. Buena comida "comida de pub". Interesante decoración peculiar y un comercio estable. En general, fue una experiencia agradable y un gran lugar para pasar tiempo con amigos después de un paseo desde Oxford por el Canal de Oxford.

I know the Plough very well. We live in Oxford and we have been there time and over again.

A great place for a family meal, reasonably priced and in the recent good weather a great place to let the kids explore outside, both on the field by the pub and the adjacent playground. Halloumi beetroot salad was a winner burger was nice and a reasonable choice of beers. Children's menu priced right.

The food I ordered was ok, as expected, however the service was so bad that I will not be returning. The attitude of the bar staff (blonde lady) was so poor - the way that she spoke to other guests, one woman in particular, was so bad I followed the guest outside to ask if she was ok. Wouldn't recommend considering the vast array of better restaurants in the area.

Stayed at the Jurys Inn Oxford and this is a short walk. Well worth the effort in the nice evening. Lovely outdoor area which oversees a green. Seems to have a good number of locals which is nice. Dog friendly. Inside is also nice with some tucked area areas. I went for a burger and tried some local ciders. Worth the visit

I am starting to worry about Tripadvisor contributions as having read reviews I selected this pub for an evening meal whilst staying near Oxford. Parking is very awkward - try not to use the car park as it is vey small. The place was understaffed. We were largely ignored upon arrival and had to follow a staff member about in order to intercept her and establish where it was ok to sit with the dog. Food was eventuality ordered and took ages to arrive. It was ok. I ordered the vegetarian chilli but received the beef one! This was changed and the apology accepted - mistakes happen. The chilli is served on a huge pile of chips which weren’t eaten as there was just too much food. Cutting down the portion or offering a smaller one might be an option as there must be wastage. I suppose it all depends on what you’re looking for from a pub. In my opinion the place could do with a bit of a makeover, a review of the menu and portion sizes and improved staffing.This one was not for me despite having 4.5 stars on Tripaadvisor

In a world being overrun by the trendy gastropub, this is a great flashback to the honest pubs of my youth. Lovely staff, great setting and heartwarming pub grub. The homemade nachos are the best I’ve ever tasted.

Great food, excellent service, just disappointed that we weren’t contacted to notify of change of ownership....we’d originally made the reservation to taste Emily’s food having seen her on TV. Having said that the food was delicious and the service was outstanding.

We stumbled across the Plough looking for a beer garden, somewhere that was kids and dog friendly and we hit the jackpot - a bouncy castle! Our two girls were so excited, we spent about 3 hours sat in the sun drinking whilst the kids had fun. There were other games too and tree swings, they had a fab afternoon therefore we did too!

The food was excellent, the service was friendly, helpful and relaxed, ensuring the whole family had a nice meal.

Excellent food let down by the pork served cold two nights running despite complaining the first night and after ordering hot pork the next night. Very noisy on the Friday night as noise comes in to the dining room via an open stairway to the bar.

We stayed at Jurys Inn and the pub is a 10min walk. There was a specials menu and the food was excellent and not expensive. Staff were very friendly and efficient

We booked the Kingham Plough hoping to be able to visit before Emily Watkins left. We assumed she was still there as the website makes no mention of the fact she&#039;s already left! Unfortunately we were too late! Quite misleading to sell your dining experience on the basis of the previous proprietor&#039;s success. <br /><br />The service was exceptional, friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The cocktails were delicious. But the food wasn&#039;t the standard we anticipated. It was good - definitely better than the average gastro pub - but certainly not the standard we&#039;d expect for the prices charged. And not the standard we&#039;d experienced with the previous owners.<br /><br />Small things let them down - my steak was underseasoned, as was my husband&#039;s duck. My cheese tart starter had a soggy, underdone pastry base. Although the desserts were gorgeous! However, in general the food was a grind of salt away from perfection. <br /><br />They have quite the act to follow... time will tell if they manage to iron out the wrinkles or not.

Food was outstanding, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. I would recommend this restaurant

Vriendelijke bediening, gezellige pub, heerlijke gerechten, royale porties en niet te duur. Wat wil een mens nog meer? Een geweldige ontdekking met zomers ook nog een heerlijk terras.
