Great pub, friendly staff, good food. Would recommend

Had a lovely visit with my mother and sister! Lovely beer and the atmosphere is incredible. The staff are very welcoming and Georgina in particular exceeded our expectations. We sat out in the beer garden as the weather was beautiful and I must say it’s very well maintained. The burger was very delicious and I would definitely come again.

Good beer. Good garden and food isn't too bad. Food is good and the staff and service is excellent. It just gets let down by the furniture. Tables are sticky and need a deep clean with better chemicals and the floor needs cleaning.

The staff were very helpful they closed the kitchen just before we arrived but were happy for us to order quickly. 😀 the food was very good.

Food was cold when we got it, there was a quite over the top and loud elvis singer and staff didn't seem to want to come over and take our order.

Dani served us food and drinks. She was excellent! Very friendly and happy, with a little bit of banter. Food was served quickly and was tasty and good value. The only drawback was lack of parking.

Had the most amazing Mother Day meal out with the family. Kirstie cooked the roast and cauliflower cheese to perfection and the toffee apple crumble was to die for. Thanks again for outstanding service and food

Lovely friendly welcoming. Lovely dog friendly area. As good as the non dog friendly restaurant area. Which sometimes is the case. After trying multiple full places in Winchester. We goggled pubs in the way home back up north. And this was the first one that came up. And we are so pleased we did. A lovely green opposite where our dog could do her business. After two hours in the car this was much needed. Brilliant menu choice. And came got and quickly. Very yummy food. If we are ever back in the area would return. Thank you for turning my birthday into a better one.

We met our friends at the Plough OnThe Green as it was dog friendly. It is quite a oldy worldy pub with a nice atmosphere. Danny the landlady was exceptionally friendly from the time we arrived till we left. Food was quick and hot. I'm sure we will meet our friends there again.

Popped in for a quick beer while in Newbury. The atmosphere and service from Dani and the team, and the banter they had with locals was really warming. So much so I left and came back for another couple of beers. Will definitely be back again. Gem of a little community pub!!

I went to the Plough on the Green Pub for lunch this year Everybody was friendly the beer and food were ace the locals and bar staff where really nice to us and made me feel personally at ease and relaxed I suffer from major mental health issues and I could not off been made to feel more welcome we defo be going back Matt

What a little gem of a pub. Nestled just outside of the town centre. Atmosphere was electric locals and staff really friendly and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend

One of our party was gluten intolerant, staff were excellent in providing a roast dinner she could eat. Would definitely recommend this dining experience.

Had a family gathering for 11 of us . Food was fab ! Especially the Sunday roast. Great service considering we were a large group , and the pub was busy . Will return .

On Monday the 20th we came to this pub for lunch, the food was lovely, our gammon was good quality and the salad looked very appealing. The lady on the bar was very welcoming, hospitable and providing a wonderful service for us. We shall be coming again.

Dropped in after a walk locally. This pub is a breath of fresh air. In the midst of a large area where pubs charge exorbitant amounts for very modest food (no names but nearly all pubs in the south of England!), this one is stand-out exception. The food is good. Service excellent. Good beer too. All very friendly as well. I cannot fault it. A gem!

What an amazing weekend spent at the Plough. Kirstie and her team helped me throw a 40th birthday party for my wife and I couldn't have done it without them. Food, decor, drinks and entertainment- incredible. Catered for everyone from 18-80! Will definitely be coming back very soon. Thank you so so much once again

Found this place last year and decided then that next time we'd have dinner there. This was the next time. On entering we spotted thr Steak and a drink deal so opted for that. There were 3 of us and each of our steaks were excellent, cooked just as requested. Service was equally very good. We'll be back next year.

However we both thoroughly enjoyed really, really good burgers, and were looked after by friendly/jolly staff. As a result we have booked to come back again tomorrow for lunch and are very much looking forward to it. I recommend the Plough on the Green as a great, straightforward, sensibly priced pub. There is a spacious garden too.

We had not lived in Newbury for long and was looking for a dog friendly pub serving food. This is a gem' great food fantastic staff. Also covered outside dinning will make this our favourite.

Fantastic pub! Great service and amazing food.

We rang up and booked a table for 2pm, arrived and went to order to be told the only meat they had was chicken. No cauliflower cheese or anything. If we had of been told on the phone when booking this was the case we wouldn’t have went and wasted time. Poor experience

We visited Plough on the Green on Friday, 10th March for a family dinner. Our group was made up of 6 adults and 4 children. Our visit was part of a celebration for my Dad's 70th birthday. I had contacted Kirsty, the Manager, in advance to pre-book and to request a table in a quiet area. When we arrived, we were delighted as Kirsty had kindly arranged for us to have an entire area (a little nook) to ourselves. This was very much appreciated since the pub had hosted a charity gathering prior and there were a lot of guests who could have otherwise have utilised this space. We enjoyed a lovely evening at the Plough on The Green and Kirsty, very kindly gave my Dad a birthday card which was very sweet! Thank you Kirsty for a lovely evening - we appreciate that you went above and beyond!

What a great place to socialise and meet friends, the bar staff are all very agreeable and happy to help . The whole pub is clean and tidy , the beer is very good.. A nice friendly pub with chatty regulars and its dog friendly too.. Highly recommended...kirstie, Dani , Georgina , Katie , Harvey and Mario keep it up your doing a great job...

Had a lovely meal for our grandsons birthday with great service as we were a large party and it was mothers day as well. Each Mummy got a rose too! Prices were very fair and won't hesitate to go back again.

Have been going to the Plough on the Green regularly now for around a year. Since Kirstie and Robin took over in July 2022, the pub has only gone from strength to strength. Excellent food, well priced drinks, with a wide selection to choose from, very friendly staff, especially Dani and Georgina, and an overall wonderful, inviting atmosphere. They also give back to the local community with various charity raffles and weekly games, where a healthy part of the proceeds go to excellent causes such as Dingley's Promise. In addition, they extend a warm welcome to any customer, be they new or regular, and offer some great evenings to be had, such as the weekly poker night as well as the good old pub quiz! In my eyes, the best pub in Newbury, keep up the good work guys!

6 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday (3 Adults, 3 Children) and were very impressed! Friendly staff from the moment we phoned to book (Only 1hr in advance)to the moment we left. Food was delicious and big portions on the roasts ! Very good value for money too compared to the local area, drinks and food. Very child friendly and accomadating. The roast was not as I expected looking at the image added to the website . Small portions , cold boiled veg , and the turkey didn’t seem to be carved just pre sliced and heated and wasn’t hot . What a shame I left hungry 😕

The staff are all professional and polite. They know their stuff and always remember the names of all patrons. I've been coming here for three months and always feel welcome and appreciated. Such a welcoming and warm atmosphere since all the patrons know one another.

Our first visit to this pub and we left wondering why we hadn’t visited before. We had lunch and it was delicious and excellent value for the money. Staff were friendly. We will definitely return in the near future.

We visit Newbury twice a year but this was our first visit to The Plough on the Green. It is just over half a mile from the centre of town, in a residential area overlooking the green (obviously). Traditional old pub, well appointed throughout, a large area to the right on entering. Turning left appears much older with beams, low ceilings, brickwork with several small cosy nooks. Service was very cheerful and efficient. The menu was very appealing but we already had a reservation elsewhere so hopefully next time. Parking and a nice garden.

Much improved ambiance, service, more staff working and certainly a few more people visiting since the change of management running the place. Better selection of food available with a specials board in addition to the usual marstons menu. It’s my regular pub but definitely signs that the place is coming back to life and getting better all the time.

Wow wow wow. Made a phonecall to Plough on the Green to ask about booking table for tonight for my husband and myself - spoke to lady called Danni and she very helpful. Pub was walking distance and local Haven't been for very long time.Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 courses. Food was hot and tasty. Young girl serving was very friendly. Very busy and great atmosphere. Nice friendly pub with a beautiful garden

Visited here last week. 2 couples. We ordered starters and main meals. A few other people in the pub but not busy. Starters arrived after a bit of a wait and were very nice. We had chicken goujons and a prawn cocktail. Then it seemed a very long wait until our mains arrived. 2 mixed grills, a steak pie and a burger. I started to eat my burger and it had absolutely no taste. I cut a piece off for my husband to try and he confirmed it was tasteless, he said it reminded him of those burgers that come in tins. It didn’t even have the consistency of a burger. It did not smell nice either. It was like it had been boiled. My sister in law went to tell the barman. He came over and took it away. He asked if there was something else I wanted instead. I said no. By this time we had been in the pub almost an hour and a half. I said I would just have my money back. I went to the bar when everyone had finished and a manageress said she didn’t know what had gone wrong with my meal. She said she had cooked it herself and it was one of their best sellers. I got my money back without any fuss.

Booked a table For 4:30pm only to arrive find out the kitchen didn't open until 5pm, which was a bit disappointing. It be couldn't normally be a problem, but being a 'local' there were already a few people that had already had one too many which made it uncomfortable for me and my children. The food was lovely and the chef came out and checked on the food, which was nice. Didn't hang around for dessert. Short blonde barmaid was rude and abrupt, but the other two ladies were lovely.
