Lovely place, incredibly high quality food, I’ve had worse meals at restaurants and paid less here. The chefs really know what they’re doing. Only downside is the drinks were silly money, but the food, location and atmosphere makes up for it. Highly recommend

Lovely location near the Kennet and Avon canal, this is a good option for a snack or meal. Plenty of space inside and out

Came here for the first time after seeing it on TripAdvisor. Food was great- especially the premium sausage and mash. Both the inside and outside are brilliant and the service was great, Maddie is a really helpful waitress. strong recommend :)

It was delicious food, The staff were friendly and our waiter was amazing. The atmosphere was lovely we sat outside. You have a choice to sit in the Sun or shade which is good or you can do half and half. there is Service charge added which you can ask to get removed. Will recommend that you check the receipt due to the fact that we were overcharged and items were added to the receipt that we did not have.

Visited Saturday afternoon. Went inside to ask for a table outside and the guy at the bar said there were no tables (there were lots). Luckily we read one of the many signs on the bar and asked the host, who then took us out to a table on the patio. Service was OK on ordering although asked for a pint of Pepsi and was told it would be slightly less than a pint. What came was just over half a pint and charged as a medium, no idea... The food though really let the outside patio area down. Some food (other people got) looked very nice, we ordered poorly I guess but the pizza was just weird. A very yellow base that looked more like a puffed up corn tortilla than a pizza base, while the chicken burger was just a frozen burger fried and in a bun with some chilli jam dropped on the top. Both sides we had looked good but we're a bit cold although the onion rings were nice at least. Bill came to £50 for two mains, two sides and two drinks so a bit expensive considering the quality to be honest.

Had a lovely evening meal Will be recommending to my family and friends. Was fast service and the food was delicious, thank you to our server Louise.

Really dissatisfied with the Sunday lunch, AGAIN ! Served barely warm after mentioning this problem to the server & manager on the previous Sunday visit! You really need to take a look at what the underlying problem is here with your kitchen ? Such a shame because the atmosphere is lovely and the food is tasty. Will try one more visit and if no change that’s it for me I’m afraid.

Came in today for a late lunch with my family, even though it was busy our server Louise was great, I have a nut allergy and she triple checked everything for me what a star. Will definitely be returning.

Nice food and atmosphere but food took an hour to come. Car park was impossible but I did come at a busy time.

I like the ambiance of the restaurant but I have one major frustration and that is that Sunday roast is always just warm never hot . The food is tasty and plentiful but the experience is ruined by the food being only lukewarm warm . We have been 5 or 6 times and have mentioned the problem to the server/manager several times but things never change . I’ll give it one more go .

Faultless. Charlie was friendly helpful and relaxed, the food was sensibly priced and superb, service was spot on and the surroundings were a pleasure. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Visited the Cunning Man with my parents a few weeks ago and had a really lovely meal. The pub is absolutely beautiful and however there was very slow service. I do wish we'd gone to the bar for our drinks as it took over 30 mins for them to arrive, and the bar seemed to be moving much quicker.

Friendly pub, Lovely food - we had roast dinners which were amazing, lamb was superb. Fast service. Great atmosphere - lovely cosy atmosphere. Had lunch there today with our daughter, son-in-law and three young grandsons. The food was superb, even the little ones ate everything! The service from Maddie was excellent. I highly recommend The Cunning Man, and will definitely return.

What a delightful place to have my sunday lunch. Ceri ticks all the boxes. Tentive, fast, accurate, polite and nothing is ever too much for her. Alex, the manager is always getting stuck in too. Host station, bar and even serving- he’s everywhere!!!! Even tho the pub is busy theres never a long wait. Food is plentiful, delicious and all at a great price too. So if you happen to stumble across the cunning man or if you fancy a good dining experience its well worth a visit. Every resturant needs 100 Ceri’s and even more Alex’s.

I booked a table for 10 which turned into 12. This was not an issue for our waitress Millie who was accommodating and excellent throughout our visit. The food all arrived at the same time. It was hot and really good value for money. Alex who works front of house is always pleasant and friendly which is then carried on by all the waiting staff. This pub is well worth a visit

The place was inviting but that was it Food ok but stuff was missing and parts cold not enough gravy for the roast staff did not know menu and took half hour just to get drinks food took another 30mins Toilets were messy toilet paper everywhere and one blocked Very disappointing

Alex is a credit to this business. He is the hardest worker there is a real credit to the team

Had a lovely meal at cunning man, enjoying the great pub garden in the sun. The experience was made even better by the service we received from Taylor. He helped us when we needed to move tables and ensured we were well catered for throughout. Some of the best service we’ve received in a restaurant.

We only popped in for a drink and the pub was very busy with the sun shining … inside and out! The staff kept the tables clear and were polite and efficient behind the bar. For a sunny Saturday evening I couldn’t ask for more. The server Charlie was great despite the pressure and I will definitely return .. love that dogs are welcome

The location is lovely but for a place that has such an extensive menu, the food was a big let down. The turkey roast, while fairly large, was bland, tasteless and under-seasoned. The gravy was liquidy, the green beans stringy, and the parsnips limp and mushy. For a near £20 roast I’d expect a lot better. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the place was clean and decorated nicely, but the quality and price of food brings it way down

Food was impeccable - We had the Bacon chop & halloumi fries! Service was very quick, perfect beer garden for summer with sun all day, with blankets & heaters available if you want to sit outside in the evening for your food - Our server Alex was super friendly, very prompt on service and happy to give local recommendations! Came with the family for Easter today and had a great roast meal. Was served by Maddy who couldn’t be more attentive and helpful to the family.

Stunning country pub, but we had a wasted journey. We wanted sandwiches for lunch, which clearly states on their website that they are available Monday - Saturday until 5pm, but when we went there, they told us they only do them in the week. Everything else was way too expensive - £18 - £20! No thanks, please remove incorrect information from your website, it's not that difficult.

The doors is great, it’s dog friendly with a sunny beer garden and we love a walk along the river bank so worth a visit. Millie our server was amazing.

Welcome was poor, no acknowledgement! No one came to take drink order, went to bar to order myself & ignored! Only good thing about our experience was Dan who seemed to be the only one working! Food not great.

Delicious food, friendly service, great atmosphere. Even though it was busy due to the bank holiday weekend, service was still good and prompt. Staff were attentive, Lucy was great at making sure everything was ok and we were happy.

Brilliant pub / restaurant, perhaps more of a restaurant which is brilliantly run with staff who seem happy and enthusiastic. Service is excellent and the outside area is superb, weather permitting. Not many gripes; don't forget to enter your car registration or you'll get fined for parking. Bit expensive but where isn't? Overall a great night out
