We were a party of 4. My husband, my mum (aged 95 & frail) & my cousin recently diagnosed with MND. Tonight we were met by Ella who was wonderful. We were seated in an ideal position and the food was really tasty. Mum had whitebait my husband had steak and ale pie and shared his chips with mum. My cousin had spag Bol from the children’s menu plus mashed potato and gravy - due to difficulties with swallowing. I had chicken supreme. Then we all had ice cream. At all times Ella was smiling friendly and helpful. We’ve had a great evening and would happily recommend the inn.

Lovely location, shame it’s like something out the league of gentleman. One local in particular thinking he’s above everyone else! . . . . ( In regards to the response from the owner, I wasn’t even the young man who was involved in the altercation. I was stood enjoying a drink on my own at the time and couldn’t believe what I was hearing and seeing. )

Worst owner and pub in history, new customer that got spoken to and verbally abused by the owner and regular customers. ‘Regular customer’ pushed in front of a customer at the bar and then he and the manager both verbally abused a young man until he felt compelled to leave. Disgraceful behaviour and won’t be back. Bullying bar staff.

We visited this establishment for luncheon during the week whilst a wake was going onto we sat in another room. We ordered the root vegetable soup and the minestrone soup together with a slice of Welsh rarebit. After a long wait, the soups arrived and were very dry with no liquid in them. The soups were served with the crusty bits of loaves. The Welsh rarebit was edible, however, with the sweet chilli sauce served with it ... from a bottle The sauce and margarine were served in small paper cups. The whole dreadful experience cost us over £25 and was, definitely, not worth the money. The establishment looks very tired and needs a complete revamp to bring it up to standard

We came here as a family, We chose to sit outside in the cold as the place was too small to accommodate us and our dog for food. Young girl was pleasant but after the older gentleman stopped picking his nose to serve us he was ok. Got our food and my burger was disgusting, I gave it the dog due to there not being any chicken or sausages I could order for him. It was soggy and just not nice. I told the older gentleman who I think was the owner and let’s just say negative criticism isn’t what he likes, basically he called me a liar and him and the chef were mystified as to why the burger wasn’t very nice. I explained I wasn’t complaining it was the burger was soggy and didn’t taste warm. Desserts came ages apart from each other and the apple crumble was cold. His customer service and manners are not for someone who is running a pub. Let’s just say I won’t be returning !!!!!

We visited today for lunch and food was really bad. Chips were really greasy, like they’d been in a fryer that wasn’t hot enough. Same for the wedges and chicken burger that was clearly straight from a packet in to a fryer. Pizza was terrible, way too much cheese on top and somehow the base was both burnt and soggy, like it had been cooked and reheated. Even the soft drinks were tasteless like the syrup had ran out. Certainly won’t return. Price was similar to a gourmet pub but standards were like a cheap chain pub. Staff were lovely and accommodating to our young kids, bringing their food out early as we requested.

I really hope they have enough business. We stopped off here for some food and were amazed with the quality of service and food. With two fussy children they are very picky with what they eat. Both of them ate nearly all of their food! We will happily go here again. The place did seem quiet and I honestly believe its nothing to do with the staff or food quality! It's obviously nice as a customer, however I really hope this place has enough to keep afloat.

Called in at Sunday lunchtime May 2022. Nice looking pub, staff were friendly. The steak pie was decent. Unfortunately the braised shortrib was simply awful with a tiny tough amount of beef and sliced potatoes in some sort of not very pleasant cheese sauce. I complained as soon as it arrived. That dish was discounted partly from the bill but should have been removed completely. The pork Sunday lunch had little pork and undercooked roast potatoes.

I ordered the braised beef shortrib pictured. There was a tiny bit of tough dry meat and the potatoes were covered in an awful cheese sauce. I complained immediately. They discounted the price but didn't offer to remove completely from the bill. The steak pie was decent enough. The roast dinner was poorly cooked and had little meat. The pizza also had some strange tasting cheese on it which my daughter (who usually loves pizza and proper cheese) refused scraped off.
