Arrived just looking for some lunch on a very hot day, exhausted and tired. Bar staff were friendly but only serving Sunday lunch, nothing cold. Asked for drinks and crisps / bar snacks and were told they didn’t have any!!! Pub looked old and tired and there was rubbish in the ‘beer garden’, well manky old bit of astroturf and concrete.

Staff were lovely but the food was horrible. Visited for Sunday lunch and ordered the roast beef. Received two thin under cooked stringy slices of meat, roast potatoes were just oil filled containers of mush, Yorkshire pudding was ok but the veg that came out in a separate dish looked like it was prepared the day before and heated up in microwave, carrots had a whitish coating and taste rubbery. Cost £10. Will never go again.

Went for Sunday lunch today, very disappointed. After seeing photos on Facebook of gorgeous looking food from here decided to book a table. Nice friendly staff on arrival, showed myself and mother in law to our table while husband went to the bar to order drinks, which were put on to a table tab. Lovely waitress came to take our food orders. Food arrived, mother in law had ordered pork with crackling, no crackling. Her food wasn’t very hot. My chicken tasted ‘funny’ veg was tasteless, “creamy”mash potatoes were lumpy, dry, hard and tasteless. Parsnips dry. Left most of mine, husband and mother in law didn’t eat all of theirs. When husband went to pay he was told cash only as he got his card out to pay! Surely we should have been told this when we arrived?! I understand these things happen due to the internet not working but should be told on arrival. Was just disappointed as mum in law was so looking forward to having lunch out. And we had to borrow cash from her to pay as we only had cards.

Just left after having a lovely meal with some lovely staff and family unfortunately was spoilt by another customer getting face to face with my 2 year old and telling him to f-off to his face. When I confronted this person she said she spoke to me which she did not and witnesses confirmed this. The restaurant said they would deal with it however we were the ones who ended up leaving whilst she sat there continuing to drink. Absolutely fuming and will not return if that’s the sort of customer they prefer to have!!!!! I don’t swear at or in front of my child and I expect any adult with an ounce of integrity to the same and speak to the adult not the child. Family pub means family’s are allowed and we should not be felt to be uncomfortable because someone who doesn’t have any chooses to drink there!!!!

Decided to randomly try this out, and what a surprise! Shame it's hidden away but it's worth the visit. Had the warmth and feel of a traditional British pub, fancy wine bar it's not but staff are super welcoming and friendly, and the food? Well... Crikey, for those that watch those 'worth it' YouTube videos? What this place serves absolutely is! If you're ever hungry, be prepared for portion gluttony. The other half's pie was massive and stuffed with nicely seasoned slow cooked beef that just melted. My 'small' mixed grill was a lovely assortment of a lamb chop, chicken breast, mini beef rump and gammon, all topped with a fried egg and done to a high standard, nothing over or under cooked. The chips are definitely hand made too! Definitely will be going back, sooner rather than later 😀

Never been before so decided to give it a go, so glad we did. Beautiful family run pub with home cooked food. We went for Sunday dinner and had a choice of 4 meats, you could mix and match up to 3!!! I had chicken and lamb, both delicious and generous portion. Each meal came with Yorkshire pud, mash and roast potatoes, stuffing and individual veg side dish and personal Gravy boat. Also had the extra side of cauliflower cheese....... Incredible! Staff super friendly and relaxed, quick table service and making sure we were happy with everything. Social distancing and sanitising very impressive. Had puddings because after the Sunday dinner we knew they would be good...... They were amazing. Nearly had to roll myself out the door when we finished. Forgot to take a pic of the main meal as I was that desperate to get stuck into it!!! If you fancy delicious home cooked food in a traditional pub environment with friendly, attentive staff....... This is the place for you. Can't wait to return. (owner advised me wed to Sat is half price at the moment so we'll worth bearing in mind for a discounted meal out)

Went to the plough today for a Sunday lunch all I can say is I have eaten a lot of Sunday lunches and this one was up there with the best of them, home cooked Yorkshire Puds plenty of meat, roast potatoes to die for and loads of freshly cooked vegetables, loved the gravy and they even give you a extra gravy boat, we purchased the cauliflower cheese for two and it was certainly worth the extra £2. So all in all good value for money, you won't be hungry when you come out and the staff and customers were all very friendly, we will certainly be visiting again very soon, keep up the good work.

We were fancying trying somewhere new, and after searching TripAdvisor for local restaurants I came across The Plough Inn. The reviews seemed good, with only the odd bad one, so we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. We received a warm friendly greeting - yes we had to wait a few minutes first as the staff were serving other customers, but that’s called good manners! I had phoned earlier and booked a table, (thankfully, and I’d advise you to do the same) and initially we were shown to a table near the door, which was not ideal. The waitress was on the ball though and noticed our disappointment, immediately offering us another table near the top of the restaurant area, all we had to do was wait a few minutes longer whilst she cleaned and reset it as the previous customers had just left. Good customer service 😁 The restaurant is a classic “Inn” and is decorated in the traditional style with lots of wood panelling, however it doesn’t look dated and it is very clean. We both ordered from the specials board, unfortunately we both wanted the ribs and they only had 1 left. I haven’t survived 36 years of marriage by being stupid - my wife had the ribs and I ordered the rib eye steak! Both meals were cooked to perfection. The chef even came out to check we were enjoying our meals. We had the main courses, desserts, a bottle of wine and a coffee all for less than £50. Fantastic value. We were even given a free glass of Prosecco! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming we felt like we’d been going there for years. I have a feeling we shall be returning many more times when we fancy eating out.

We went for Sunday lunch. They were very busy,we hadn't booked a table but they fitted us in. The service was quite slow but the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered drinks,my bottle of Beck's came from the fridge but it was warm so they didn't charge for it. We ordered a starter and a main course each, when the garlic mushrooms came they were supposed to have butter and crusty bread with them but mine had no bread so they didn't charge us for either of those, they were very nice. We waited quite a while for the main course which could have been warmer but we didn't complain as we had already waited quite a while already , the beef was very nice as were all the accompanyments. My wife said the New Zealand Sauvignon blanc was delicious she had two large glasses. Total cost, food £19-90. wine £15-90. Would definitely go again, probably at a less busy time.

Been meaning to call for quite a while due to reviews and being localish. Service was really slow to start but staff were plesant enough. 2 Ordered chicken skewers the meals eventually came without the skewer or an explanation, which is very poor, should have been informed when ordering. Chips came as wedges, pork belly was small, the mixed grills were good, pie was excellent, desserts were on offer for £2 if you bought a main, they were only worth £2 anyway, have you seen the size of the portion. Nice touch at the end with the kids goody bags which raised my rating from a 3 to a 4. All in all average, things to work on.

We have been here several times over the last few months, we were impressed after our first visit so went again the following Sunday to be taken to our table and forgotten. After I went to the bar to enquire about ordering, the staff and landlord were very apologetic, giving us our meal and drinks free of charge, even the chef came over to see us. We have been back twice since, and sadly the food has not been as good. The potatoes on Sunday were dried up and burnt, like they had been reheated leftovers, see photo below. They did bring fresh roast after I complained but they should have been served fresh in the first place The lasagne had no sauce what so ever Will we go again...... doubtful

First time for years we've been. The pub is warm and cosy, friendly bar staff. We hadn't booked but, didn't wait for a table. We ordered Sunday lunch and I asked for vegetarian and it wasn't a problem. The food came within 15 minutes, piping hot. Hubby got beef and gammon and I had vegetarian sausage. We got a dish of vegetables each, along with mash, roasties, yorkshire pud and stuffing and, a gravy boat each. It was cooked perfectly and piping hot. Whilst we were eating, the chef came out to ask if everything was OK and we thanked him, hubby said how nice the meat was, he offered another portion and returned with gammon, roasties and stuffing! Had a pud, be rude not to, which was apple and rhubarb crumble and 2 spoons! The whole experience was lovely, the atmosphere, the staff and the food. We'll definitely be back, the best Sunday lunch we've had in ages. A fabulous place to go with family and friends, would highly recommend it, thanks the plough, we'll be back

A typical Yorkshire welcome awaited us. We both ordered a steak which was cooked to perfection, presented well and was exceptionally tasty. I eat out a lot but for me that was one of the best Steak Dinners I have ever had. Having fancied a little drive out I found a gorgeous little pub situated in a lovely little village called The Plough Inn. The weather was gorgeous outside but that was nothing compared to the stunning brunette girl working behind the bar named Tonianne. I fell in love at first sight. "A pint of Stella please" I muttered. Lip quivering and legs shaking as she poured me my pint and passed me my change. I sat down at the table, it was very clean and exactly as you would expect. It was very traditional inside with a huge Stone Fireplace with dark oak interior. I ordered a 10oz Rump Steak cooked Medium Rare. After a quick 10 minute wait my food arrived promptly and looked incredible. The presentation was unreal. The steak was cooked to perfection and looked that tender I was half expecting to hear Elvis's voice singing "Love me Tender" with every cut of my knife. The home made chunky chips with skin on were huge but cooked beautifully. I had two well seasoned tomatoes and two home made onion rings which were just orgasmic! The plate was finished off with a huge Mushroom and some Fresh Salad with a French dressing. Everything on the plate complimented one another. I polished it in double quick time and washed it down with a glass of Californian Rose Wine. For just £14.95 for the meal and £3.95 for the wine, this is now my favourite secret hideout. A hidden treasure! Plus I managed to get the girl behind the bars number and I'm taking her out next week. My compliments to John the Chef for the gorgeous Food, Woody the Landlord for his hospitality and Hannah who took over from Tonianne for being lovely and bubbly. Will be back again real soon. Incredible Food and Service.

We were a table of four on a Friday night and the only diners in the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with our order. My tomato soup was tasty but of a very thick consistency which spoilt it. The other starters which were prawns and pate were at best average. My steak pie was tasty with chips but the carrots were over cooked and very soft. The meal was served on a very cold plate which soon cooled the food which spoilt the meal. The other main courses were ribs and salmon which were also served on cold plates. The only warm plate was the Cumberland sausage meal. After the mains were finished we felt we we're ignored as we weren't offered sweets or coffee, we even had to go for the bill as they seemed more engrossed in talking around the bar. Having paid the bill I was told no receipt could be given to confirm my Visa payment which was over £100 which I felt was not very professional. Things could have been much better with just a little thought into the overall service.

We all ordered the children Sunday dinner 2 courses for 9.95 as they were a decent portion size from previous experience and were not to be disappointed. The beef dinner I ordered was beautiful and the cauliflower cheese made it more delicious. Friendly pub with respected food list. I'd bought a pint and two half's and was happily enjoying. Landlord says he's just changed the barrel and reckoned the new stuff'd be 'fresher' so swished away the old and replaced with the new... Right or wrong, that's a man who cares for his beer! Family friendly, usually a negative for me, but we'll worth a detour.

I have visited a few times here for drinks with friends but today was the first time trying the Sunday lunch. Everything was perfect, the best Sunday lunch I've had for a while (the roast potatoes were amazing!) The staff were friendly, attentive and made us both feel welcome, thank you so much, ill definitely be back soon!

Great food. Fantastic meals freshly prepared on the premises. Brilliant staff who will rustle up something tasty even if you have food allergies or requirements. Wholly recommend.

My experience with The Hide was somewhat of a mixed bag. Let me explain. My partner and I decided to go here for our anniversary - we are both big steak fans and wanted to try something new. Upon arriving, the restaurant was very quiet - for a Tuesday I expect this and it served us well. The lady who served us was nice, if a little clueless about what they did/didn't sell but more on that later. We sat down at a window table and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the whole restaurant looked from where we were sitting. We decided on a corner-window seat as we didn't know how full the place would get later and didn't want to get in the way. I sat directly in the corner and was slightly dismayed to see that I had sat DIRECTLY under a speaker. It was rather loud and I had to raise my voice higher than normal to be heard by my partner sitting only 3 feet away. The server came to take our drinks order, and this is where things started to sour slightly for me. As a steak fan, I am also a huge fan of a good red wine to go with it. I asked the server "What wines do you have?" her response..."Red, White and Rose" - I couldn't help but chuckle slightly, so I asked what reds she had, she didn't know. The first thing any server should know is what they are serving, what is available and how much it is, she knew none of these things and instead had to go across the restaurant to the till, to check. She came back to me there was a Shiraz, Malbec and Merlot - not exactly a billionaire's banquet as you can see, but I reluctantly got the Shiraz - it was vile. I then got a pint of some-thing or other, and that tasted lovely. Partner got a gin and a cider, and again, no complaints there. Next comes the food. Like so many, we had looked online to see what was available and had chosen our meal, when we arrived, very little of it was available and for a 'steakhouse' the choice was rather lacking. We looked at the "menu" - which was a small piece of white paper with some items on it and appeared to have seen better days. For an establishment as outwardly beautiful as this, it was a big let-down to be handed a flyer - rather ruins the atmosphere in my opinion. We both got a rump with all the trimmings and a calamari starter - no complaints there, food was lovely, steak was cooked to perfection and the trimmings were delicious even if the peppercorn was slightly too peppery for my tastes. We had a great time there listening to the slow atmospheric music which was being played - if rather loudly and paid for our meal. The meal came to around £80, which was more than reasonable for what we had. My last point of contention is with the server's behaviour as we left. We started to make our way over to the door to leave, and she barely looked up from her phone to say goodbye - found this rather rude considering there was no-one else in the restaurant. All in all, a rather mixed experience. I would go again, but I would sit in a different place and lower my expectations going forwards. Special mention to the chef however, as he was lovely and came to see how our food was - you don't see that nowadays and it was a welcome addition to our experience. Probably see you again on Valentine's Day The Hide, even if the experience wasn't an overwhelmingly positive one, I believe you can do better and I look forward to seeing you try.

Average food for not very average prices. Knock £5ish off each dish & maybe forgiveable. Poor value for money
