The Plough Inn in Broadland

We visited The Plough Inn at Marsham on Wednesday 27th March, My Husband had the Showcase of Bawdeswell pork, I had the Horseshoe of gammon & Our son had The King of Ronnie Margherita pizza. There was a little wait for food but that's absolutely fine as then you know it's all freshly cooked. The Manager (I assume) came over and apologised for the wait explained the cookers needed to warm up which again is absolutely fine. I'll start with the décor...There were a lot of quirky decorations/pictures on the walls which I thought were great (Not to everyone's taste) but we liked them and as a family chatted about them until our meal arrived. The staff were very friendly, polite and welcoming. Now the meal well I can honestly say it's the best meal I've had in many years, The gammon actually had flavour that wasn't just salt, the onion rings were absolutely gorgeous and the chips were also lovely. My husband said he really enjoyed his meal and stated it was definitely worth waiting for! And finally our son said the pizza was "absolutely gorgeous" his words. The only shame was we didn't have room for dessert. Would we recommend The Plough Inn ABSOLUTELY without a doubt.

First time visiting and would definitely visit again. There were 14 of us and a baby celebrating an engagement and 2 birthdays. We mostly had the carvery but 1 of the group had something off the menu. The carvery was the best I have ever had. Lots of choice and all hot and cooked to perfection. Was impressed that there were butchers chipolata sausages instead of the tiny frozen ones that are normally offered in other establishments. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. Go and try it, you won’t be disappointed

Had a fabulous lunch and a very helpful staff member who was looking after our group who were celebrating a 70th birthday. Food was excellent. Will be back.

Best steak I’ve had in years, Couldn’t fit in a dessert but they looked 🔥👌🏻 Friendly staff and the rooms are great too, don’t have a bad word to say about the place and would gladly come again.

We were just passing through and hoping to get a table for two although I could tell they were very busy, they couldn't have been more hospitable and friendly. The staff were wonderful and the food was lovely. Definitely coming back for some dirty fries again soon.

There were good and bad things about staying at The Plough. First, the good things: the shower in our room was awesome, obviously all been updated very recently, and plenty of hot water at a great pressure. Being newly refurbished, the room was very fresh (although the smell of paint was lingering). There was a mini fridge in the room, which was handy for the bottle of wine I had brought, although I did have to bring a glass up from the bar . We had a burger in the restaurant on our first night, which was excellent. For breakfast the next morning I chose Eggs Benedict, which was very tasty, but unfortunately they had run out of muffins and so I had to have toast instead, which wasn’t quite the same. And now the not so good things: I found the bed very uncomfortable, and woke up with an aching back on both mornings. We had not been given the room we had asked for on booking, but by the time we realised we had unpacked, and didn’t feel like moving rooms so did not say anything. as the room is newly refurbished, there is still a little to do to finish off. For example the walls are bare of any pictures or anything to give it character. There was also no mirror of any kind in the bedroom. The room was cold at times, with the heating not being on until late afternoon/evening. There was only one shelf in the bathroom which had been fitted over 6 feet high on the wall, so it was very difficult to reach! The only other thing I could fault is that the fire safety warning on the door had no assembly point written down, so in the event of a fire, I can only hope we would find the right place to be. The fire door on the landing was also continually wedged open on the new carpet, which is a little concerning. Overall, I think I’ll stay was okay value for money, not sure there would be enough to tempt me back again though.

Had a carvery tea on a Sunday. Good food, quick for table service for drinks and ordering the food. Carvery had a few bits that had run out so we had to wait but these were then brought to the table in a separate bowl so that was appreciated. Never came to take a dessert order so we paid and left.

Extremely friendly pub with a great menu choice for adults and kids at a reasonable price. The adults in our party had the carvery which was great value and very tasty, and the kids loved their pizza and they let us take away what they didn’t manage. Service was brilliant. Very clean, plenty of parking and you can book on open table. Thank you for a great meal/visit.

We were treated to.meal and overnight stay for hubby's 70th birthday. We both had liver and bacon which was delicious, we made room for pudding. And both enjoyed a pint of Bob The room was nice warm and clean. Tea and coffee supplied in room. Breakfast was included in price of room. Hubby had full breakfast and i had the cheese omelette. Staff were very efficient and no complaints 👌

I have stayed at The Plough Inn on a few occasions when in Norfolk on business. The staff are very welcoming, warm and friendly. The food is fantastic the rooms are clean and tidy. This is definitely my go to hotel when in Norfolk.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my sister & friend in a newly renovated room. The pub has just had an amazing refurbishment, it is gorgeous. The staff were so welcoming, and went above and beyond to accommodate us, including bringing us a table for our room so we could play cards! Our room was very spacious & decorated beautifully, plenty big enough for the 3 of us. I like to thank Sean and Sophie for looking after us so well, and Toby for showing us around the next rooms having a make over. Breakfast and evening meal were lovely. Thank you all

We booked this place last year, a couple of weeks before our trip we called to ask for a little information on the room and asked for a table and chairs as we like to play cards, not a problem from the owner it will be sorted for you. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Sean who could not do enough for us he checked our room to make sure all was in place.Then Toby the manager popped in and gave us a tour of the newly refurbished bedrooms a true gentleman. The place was just fab. Then the restaurant, beautiful food with friendly staff , Sophie being one of them, so helpful. I would definitely recommend this beautiful Hotel.

We had booked a table for 7 people for 1.30 a week in advance as we were going to scatter our wifes granfathers ashes after a family meal , BUT that was not to be thanks to the PLOUGH We arrived at 1.15pm to find our table was not ready so we all got a drink, one of our party could not stand for long due to health issues and did not have anywere to sit so he had to sit in his car and wait (NOT ACCEPTABLE) So we waited and waited and waited at this point it was 1.55 and no sign of a table. They really havent a clue on how to book tables in or customer service we were just ignored!!! In the end we said we were going to leave as we were fed up with waiting and being asked to move as there was no room to move at the bar they did give us a 50% dicount off our drinks but no apology The thing is you book a table well in advance for a special occation at 1.30 and if your let down your not going to be able to get in anywere else on a sunday lunch time so we had to settle for fish and chips at cromer

Fabulous place to stay. Room was amazing, clean, great decor and a fridge! Stayed 2 nights for work. Will definitely stay again next time I’m down for work

Family meal loved by all. Camembert is a wow, king prawns in bruschetta was the best starter ever tasted. Mains another wow, chicken foresteisa, salmon en croute, burger and steak no complaint just compliments. Creme brûlée and cheesecake to die for Well done Bradley, chef and staff xxx see you soon

This place is a must, if after wonderful pub food with twists. Amazing menu where I could of picked it all. Big portions full of flavours. Hubby had chip shop loaded fries as main and wow a chip shop in a bowl what a good concept. My short rib was melt in mouth full of flavour. Very impressed. Staff so very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be going back, with looking to stay over, as rooms available too. Highly recommended. Well done to owners, chef, and all staff. Thank you.

Came here the week after Eat Out to Help Out finished, so not quite as crazy as August! No-frills menu, and a good choice of food selections. Warm welcome, good COVID protocol, felt quite safe - all tables had own hand sanitiser, for example. I liked that there was a smaller portion burger, which meant I could actually finish it! Husband's fish-n-chips was fine. Good value for money, what's not to like?!

We’d left it quite late and needed just a light lunch but with our 2 dogs. Dogs were made welcome and we were able to sit in the bar. We ordered off the menu and fresh baguettes were made to request- sausage and onion for my husband then cheese and tomato for myself. Both with salad and crisps. Just what was needed after a long walk.

Stayed at this lovely pub for a night on our way to Cromer. Nothing was too much trouble - Bradley shuffled rooms around to accommodate us and even ordered us steaks that we requested to be delivered for dinner. Lovely room with small table and chairs to look out over the front. Great bar/restaurant area with a very big selection of gins and spirits and the best service delivered by Sophie and Laura. One tiny disappointment was the shower which wasn’t the best but certainly wouldn’t mark down for that. Would definitely return.

Just visited this place on the way to cromer. The food and drink was nice. Prices not too bad either. Good service provided by the staff.

The online take away website wasn’t working for me I phoned up and the lady on the phone was really lovely and super helpful. Really lovely food and they cater for my partners allergies. I would definitely return 😁

Our first visit since reopening after Covid. Very disappointed with new fast food style menu. Over 30 minute wait for meal to arrive. Gammon priced at £14.95 arrived luke warm, total waste of money. The young waitresses however did a wonderful job.

Lovely pub, amazing food and very reasonable prices. Kids loved it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again when we are back in Norfolk.

Had to book a week in advance due to new legislation less space available. Had sharer platter starters as pictured. Very nice. Also both of us went Greek with the Gyros for mains. Whilst it came with chips we both agreed (and whilst they were lovely) we didn't need them as we already had the bread as carbs. The place was clean, staff were friendly and appologetic as there was a delay with food orders. I understand staff shortage. This happens. We had a lovely evening and the prices were reasonable. I have great empathy for all pub/restaurant businesses right now as Covid-19

We decided to have a takeaway from the plough during the lockdown and we have eaten a few times in the restaurant and always been very pleased the takeaway it was delicious both my son and I had the dirty fries really big portions chilli was just amazing and he had the bbq chicken, my youngest son had the cod and chips. Really big portions delivered nice and hot would definitely recommend

First visit here and was pleasantly surprised. Good variety of home cooked food on the menu to choose from. All 5 of us really enjoyed our meals, good size portions, tasty food and all served hot. Reasonably priced for proper home cooked food as you'd expect. All staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend, and will definitely be returning.

I can not recommend this for a Saturday evening or special occasion. Food was good and waitresses sweet But ......Table for eight booked for 730pm. Order taken at 8pm. Jug of water never came but that’s no big deal. I had to ask where the food was at 845 as my Dad is diabetic. Waitresses asked in the kitchen and we were told s lie that it would be four minutes. Why lie !!!! I had to ask again after ten minutes. Food came after 9pm. By that time I had gone beyond hungry, Dad felt ill and everyone was tense and irritable. They did apologise at the second enquiry and gave us three free drinks and took two mains off the bill. It would not have been so bad if any of the staff had come to tell us there was a delay but they came nowhere near us except to take food to tables that had ordered after us! If they cannot cope with the numbers in a Saturday evening they have no right to take the bookings. The food was tasty but the liver and bacon came with no bacon this appeared microwaved on a plate when pointed out. The garlic bread was stone cold but I could not be bothered to mention this as I could not wait to leave. I would not return of ever recommend this place.

Delicious squash & apple soup, beef pie & fench fries, prawn, smoked haddock and haddock in a dapple cheese sauce served with sourdough, and a divine pannacotta with the right amount of wobble. Staff polite, attentive and cheerful and clean loos.Easy to find on main A140 go on treat yourself!

Amazing food. Not a large menu, but lovely options. You must try the dirty fries!! Immense! Lovely pub but also lovely restaurant too. We go regularly. Highly recommend

I am sad our meal was very poor and clear the staff were not interested or did not care! Local to us and it has improve over the last year to 18 months, but this evening was a disaster,Three of the five main meals were not good, my wife’s fish platter was mostly white bait, with only one cod goujon, my wife said the white bait did not taste right and I complained on the balance so they did make some more scampi,My sons Burger had other stuff than beef in it,He did not eat it, I complained and they said they could make another, but it seemed little point as they said it was 100%, I tried it, it was not and tasted odd! Even my scampi tasted not quite right, my son eat what I left, I eat some of my wife white bait, it tasted not as expected, and smelt strong, it now is repeating on me all I can taste is the white bait and feel sick!I complained, the lady who served us did not seem interested and never asked us again if it was ok. All the tables around us were asked if their meals were ok, but not us!!!! I expected a conversation when I went to pay, I made a comment to our server, she may have been the owner, I was Ignored and charged for all the food we left. I think the fish was not fresh or not stored correctly, but how can you get scampi wrong??? We will not go back. Also guests in our holiday homes use this pub 4-5 time per week, I will be warning them that this has gone down hill and they don’t seem to care, a real shame!!!

We had driven past many times over the years but had never visited . We went in on Xmas eve for lunch as was in area and was pleasantly surprised ...the food was very good . Obviously a decent chef works here . Went in with kids and Mrs. Was pretty busy but was served and seated quickly . I had a home cooked pie which was one of the nicest pies I’ve ever had . Beautiful pastry cooked to perfection with creamy mash and proper gravy . Kids ate from the children’s menu and had homemade burger and a pasta dish which was really good quality and well priced . The Mrs is vegetarian so had a beetroot and mushroom burger which she loved . Great to see local ale on tap as well . Will definitely be visiting . Great food , good beer and really good value , kids and parents left equally happy!

Over two evenings, we were treated to first class hospitality and quality food. Plain and simply it couldn't be beaten. There are more exciting meals on offer if that's what you like, but we kept it to what we like and enjoyed every mouthful.Thanks for everything

Six of us ate here recently and had five different meals. Three of us had great food, three were were not so good. I think that maybe pasta is not the best choice here! The service was friendly and good and the ambiance in the restaurant is welcoming and pleasant. My husband and I would eat here again but avoid the pappardelle!

Visited for dinner one evening with our dog. Made very welcome. Staff lovely and fussed our dog. My partner and I both ordered pie of the day, mince and onion, with mash and veg. Arrived quickly and all was piping hot, lovely fresh veg, lashings of gravy and delicious pie and mash. Very happy.

The Plough really surpassed themselves with the quality of the food they presented us for a Restaurant Week lunch. The service and the atmosphere stopped us rating the overall experience as "excellent" - as did the very limited range of beers "on tap" - but full marks to the kitchen

We went on restaurant week menu how amazing the food was excellent every dish that left looked the same more of a fine dining menu I think that they should serve this type of food in restaurant and keep few other dishes for bar keep serving food of this quality and you could get AA rosette

Roast was nice but beef bit hard to eat bit tuff to eat staff are lovely should have complained. Would come again

Just been to The Plough Inn on the first night of Norfolk Restaurant Week. Haven't been to this restaurant before and all of our party of five agreed that all aspects of the evening were exceptional. The food was outstanding and was excellent value for money. This restaurant is a must during Norfolk Restaurant Week.

The place was in some disruption due to redecoration etc, but visitors were made welcome and everything done to minimise any disruption, very freindly and helpful staff

We had a brilliant meal for my Son's birthday - there was 15 of us and the food was fantastic, the service was great and we can't wait to come back. Highly recommend.

We returned back to the plough on Saturday night for a birthday meal with six of our friends four of them hadn’t been before we all enjoyed it the food was excellent the were very polite and treated us well definitely will be returning

I’ve been eating here for the last 7 years. Every visit we have had has been excellent. Hospitality, drinks, surroundings and last but not least - the food. Never had a bad meal. Recommend the belly pork, but anything else on the menu will always be good.

We went for Sunday lunch hoping they would be able to cope with a gluten free diet, we asked the waitress and she said that they were very good at accommodating people with allergies, that was nonsense. I ended up having just vegetables from the Carvery. I wish restaurants would get up to date, people have allergies because they become ill when they have certain foods, it is not a celebrity fad.

Me and a friend, went in The Plough Inn, yesterday (August 20th), while on an afternoon bike ride, I enjoyed a glass of Orange Juice (with ice) and a Chocolate Bar, my friend enjoyed a cup of Tea, the Barmaid, was very friendly, The Plough Inn, is very spacious, I saw two big TVs, in the Inn, also some nice portraits, on the walls, I will definitely visit (with a friend) The Plough Inn, again, in the future, hopefully for something to eat, or to take part in a Pub Quiz.

Been here numerous times, great value, good choices,and a great atmosphere. Would choose for various occasions.

The food was excellent, will definitely be coming back even though we live in Great Yarmouth. There were 4 of us and we could not fault a single thing.

Second stay at this hotel. The restaurant is first class, filled with locals on a Monday evening days something about the quality. The food and service are first class. Lovely friendly staff, great choice of menu and wines and beers. Can't recommend this restaurant enough. See also hotel report.

I visited here with my husband for a mid-week lunch.

This is fast becoming one of my favourite places to eat, since the new owners took over earlier this year it has improved so much. Really friendly welcome, lovely staff, clean and bright restaurant and a great atmosphere. The food is excellent, my eldest daughter said the lasagne was the best she’d ever had and the raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake was to die for, my favourite desert is the fruity loaded doughnut - delicious! Altogether a great evening and we’ll be back soon.

We stumbled along the Plough Inn hoping for find something good to eat. I was excited to find that they were serving a carvery all day. The expectation was low, a carvery all day conjured up dried up vegetables, dry meat and left over offerings. This was far from the truth, what a pleasant surprise, there were offering 3 meats carved from huge moist joints, potatoes like your mother makes and fresh vegetables and plenty of choices. What was the icing on the cake was the gravy this was to die for. The whole meal was piping hot again another rarity, excellent value too, with the option of 1,2 or 3 courses. What a find, well done to all at the Plough Inn you have great formula that works keep up the great work. We will return.

This is a roadside pub/hotel with a large bar and eating area, the staff are very pleasant & efficient and the food we had was excellent pub food for the money. Well done I would recommend a stop on the way to the coast from Norwich.

A couple of really good friends of ours, who live in Marsham, invited us to join them for lunch in their local and we happily agreed.

The staff were very helpful with a family event for eight people to mark a 60th birthday. They decorated our table and helped out with the surprise cake. Meal and bar/table service also very good.

Situated in a pleasant village in rural Norfolk this gastro pub has an exciting but not overwhelming lunch menu. The accent is on fantastic local produce, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Large portions, but smaller dishes available. Friendly and fast service

Had a very enjoyable mean here lastnight. The service was great, good choices on the menu and specials board. Food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection! We will definitely return!

We had a very nice Sunday dinner with 2 small children in our group. The food and drinks were very good and the staff were excellent and friendly. I've heard it's a very good hotel to stay in and everything about the place looks good.

What can I say - food fab- staff really helpful and pleasant. Chef is has good ideas for specials and accommodating to my dietary requirements.

Visited today for a carvery, food was superb, great selection of vegetables, three choices of meat, huge Yorkshires and crispy roast potatoes- what more could you want! Well if you’ve got room definitely have a dessert, massive bowl of homemade crumble with lashings of custard. Plus really friendly staff to top it all off!

We had the pleasure of eating here last night and it was an excellent experience. The Bar / Restaurant staff on the night, Gemma & Laura, were very professional and pleasant and very helpful. The food was of a very high standard and very enjoyable. We will most definitely return for more of the same and are already looking forward to the Sunday carvery we have booked for.

We had a lovely meal at the plough, the staff were welcoming and attentive, it was warm and cosy on a cold winters night with a nice atmosphere. Our meals were delicious and reasonably priced, good portion sizes too. My daughter ate from the children’s menu which was well priced with plenty of variety on the menu for her to chose from.

Lovely lunch had so much could not even eat a desert Roast Beef, Roast Potatoes and loads of Vegetables. Staff are so Friendly I understand it’s under new Ownership Good luck Guys we will be back again soon

Sunday 30th December six of us had an evening meal at The Plough - four of us had eaten there before, but treated the other two as a big birthday celebration. Without going into individual meals the food was superb, everything piping hot. The quality of the food is fantastic and the service excellent. I would highly recommend dining here, we will be back

After our countryside walk with friends, we stopped by The Plough Inn on the off chance for a late lunch, we were greeted with friendly smiles from the staff who are polite and friendly, we decided to have the 2 course lunch for £11-95, excellent value and enjoyable.

Me and my amazingly better half, came here for a spot of impromptu lunch, having driven past countless times on the way to Cromer and Sheringham.

My Dad and I visited yesterday for dinner. We received a lovely welcome from staff (great work from Charlotte), attentive service and great food. Pork Wellington was new to me but was superb. Really enjoyable visit and I hope my family and I can come back again when next in the area. We had the butternut squash soup and prawn cocktail followed by Pork Wellington and Pan Fried Chicken. All dishes couldn’t be faulted. Well done guys !!!

As local residents, it's been many years and many owners, since visiting THE PLOUGH...I think it was called The Flags then!!

We are on holiday near the Plough and thought that it was well presented from the outside so looked it up online. The menu looked good as did the reviews so we booked. We had a friendly greeting when we arrived and the staff were chatty throughout our visit. The food was exceptional and we got a check back after every course

The food was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Just for us personally, lacked something. We had heard great reports about it though so hence we tried a second visit. We still feel that it lacks atmosphere and maybe that is because on both times it was not very busy. This is a personal preference/feeling so it wouldn't make it our first choice because of that but still worth 5/5 rating.

Excellent food, lovely pub. If you have never been then you are missing out ! Really good value lunchtime deals 3 courses for 14.50 and every single course was tasty, piping hot and of generous size. Highly recommend you try this place !

How many times have we driven past the Plough and said "we should try there!" Well I'm glad I did tasty hot food and a lovely pub to sit in. Thank you for a lovely anniversary meal :)

Went in for lunch after a photo shoot at Blickling Hall with friends and we all had really good food. Guest ales are available as well. Good service and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Visited the Plough in twice now and both times have been extremely impressed with the service, menu options, specials available and the food! Been past the Plough of so many occasions and over looked it, but from now on it will be a regular on the list. Service is quick, friendly and professional, and the food is excellent and reasonably priced.

Went to this restaurant this week with friends to enjoy a Christmas meal and enjoy it we did. The meal was delicious and the service was very good too. Won't be too long before we return.

I am no stranger to the Plough and find it to be consistently good. Good food, drink and service. I must have eaten in just about every hotel, pub and restaurant within 10 miles and I have several I would recommend. The Plough is high on that list. It is away from the busy town centres, relaxed and has a nice atmosphere. I will continue to be a 'semi regular' here and always look forward to visiting.

Had a lovely midday meal prawn and mayo with lovely thick bread crisp and salad. evening meal my husband had steak pie and I had brie roulade which was very nice.

I had lunch here and again the meal was exceptional. Risotto with haddock perfectly cooked and my friends had roast lunch with all the trimmings. The semi freddo was delicious and presented well. I have visited here on several occasions and each time the food has been top quality. The owners are attentive without being intrusive and I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

We have just had the greatest weeks stay at this hotel the staff are amazing the food was superb our room was clean bright and well equipped great value for the money if you go to Norfolk give this place a try 100% great

Peculiar, un auténtico sabor de Norfolk. Buena comida saludable. Amplia selección de ginebras más nunca oído hablar de! Muy gran parte de la comunidad local.

We were a little early for dinner but were welcomed like old friends. This was the first time we had visited and had only passed because of an accident on our normal route. The staff clearly enjoyed their work and soon had taken our order. There was an extensive menu with a number of daily "specials" made from local produce. As it was in season asparagus featured prominently. The food came freshly prepared, hot and in good portions. During the evening the specials changed to include Beef Wellington. My wife had gammon as her main course and rhubarb crumble as her sweet. I had asparagus as a starter, "rare breed" pork chop for a main course and bread and butter pudding for sweet. The Adnams beer was well well kept. There was a good choice of wines. Throughout the evening the staff were very attentive and always had a smile. If we are going that way again we will certainly call in. The Inn also does rooms although we did not need one on this occasion.

Went to the Plough last night with my partner, I had the chicken supreme, which was supreme, absolutely delicious! My partner had the lasagne and said it was one of the best he'd had. Puddings were great too. Thank you for a lovely evening, we'll be back soon, hopefully.

Took a chance for lunch here. Not many cars in car park so had reservations but was pleasantly surprised. Good food , good service, go visit.
