The Reedcutters was the mid point on our walk while holidaying in Norfolk. We had a warm welcome and a substantial lunch, good old fashioned pub grub. No complaints at all, it's a 'what you see is what you get' kind of pub, nothing fancy but friendly, clean and good value 👍

Came for drinks and to see a friend who moors here, great pub, pool table, darts and a pinball machine. Very lovely staff, we grabbed some food later in the evening too and also as we had been there for the best part of the day, booked the double room which was spacious , lovely hot shower and a beautiful view of the river. Thank you, we'll pop back soon!

Stopped when on boat. Easy mooring. Warm welcome but thats main positives. Food average & below. Burger so hard around edges & sandwiches fresh but nothing exciting. Drinks cold. Decor in desperate need of something.. filler & paint wld do it. Tables, menus & floor sticky. But for a stop and drink the welcome wld make it ‘ok’ but not an option we wld go back too. However we did note the clear community elements- darts etc & thats invaluable now in towns. Bit of housekeeping/decorating & cld be better.

One of the most friendly welcomes on the broads. Good selection of drinks and an engaging and friendly crowd that made us feel very welcome. We were a large group of about 20 blokes, we were loud but respectful and having a laugh. The barman/owner took the time to have a laugh and a joke with us as did quite a few of the locals they had a good laugh as one of the guys ate a rather spicy onion that we had purchased in the bar. We always stop here when on the broads, Make sure you do the same as its a cracking pub

After many holidays on the Broads we paid our first visit to this pub. We were made very welcome and felt very comfortable. Huge portions of delicious food at very reasonable prices put many other establishments to shame. It was so good that we returned a few days later on our way back, and that never normally happens! Moored here on the first night of our Norfolk Broads holiday. Although there were plenty of boats moored alongside, the pub itself was fairly quiet with a few tables marked as reserved. We were welcomed to an inside table with our dog and ordered drinks and food at the bar. The portion sizes were huge and very reasonably priced. The quality of the food was good for standard pub fayre and everyone was more than satisfied with their meal. Outside tables were also available if preferred. Would not hesitate to return on a future boat trip.

Used the free Broads Authority moorings conveniently next to the pub. Now eaten there twice in the last couple of months and each time the experience was the same, the food quality and volume are excellent at a cost which makes the place competitively value for money with others nearby. You will not leave the pub with an empty tummy! The staff are friendly and helpful. It is also a sweet location being next the sugar refinery.

The pub is not in the most picturesque setting. We moored at the free moorings next to the pub. We had booked a table and when we got there it was fairly busy. It is a very nice little pub, covid restrictions seemed well observed, and everyone we encountered was very friendly. You can book moorings, and a table for dinner. Visited again after last year, taking advantage of free mooring. Such a pretty building even though it's next to the huge sugar factory. Last year I said it needed a face lift inside. Unfortunately it still needs one. A family run business which is sadly lacking in the business side. The family all sat playing bingo. It was like sitting in a strangers house having a drink and feeling like an intruder. Probably great if you are a regular but not comfortable as a holiday maker.

We called at this pub as we planned on a hot Sunday July evening, having been to the Strumpshaw Tree Fair and Buckenham Marshes nature reserve nearby. We were undecided whether to eat here, or just have a quick drink before moving on to a different pub that might have a better menu, especially vegetarian choices for my wife. We decided to have a look at the menu and see.The location is nice, despite the view in one direction being of the Sugar factory and the outside benches being below the embankment to look at the river. It took some finding though and the signposting could have been better. An eclectic mix of characters and various dogs were wandering about. The pub itself is OK but in need of a bit of TLC and looked generally untidy. The toilets could have done with a good sweep/clean for a start, as could the leather chairs at the rear. The bar seemed to have mainly locals or some off boats. There was a friendly welcome however, and the barmaid was helpful and effective. We had arrived soon after 4:30. Having ordered some drinks, with no sign of a selection of special ciders I'd read about, I asked about keeping a tab open and ordering food. I was handed some menus but informed the kitchen wouldn't open until 5 in about 15 minutes. There was some debate about what was on the specials board and the chef/landlady turned out to be at the bar.We decided to stay and eat here. I ordered a large cod and Quorn Chilli just before 5. I believe ours was the first food order that evening. About half an hour later the barmaid came out to advise there were no large cod portions left, so I chose the medium instead (which turned out to be plenty big enough anyway). Ages later there was still no sign of our food. We had finished our initial drinks and my wife was on her second glass of wine. I wanted to eat with my pint but couldn't have another as driving. Eventually the chef/landlady came out and announced that they didn't have the ingredients for the Chilli. It was a choice of have it how it had turned out, without beans, or choose something else. My wife chose the vegetarian lasagne instead, and we were assured it would come quickly, with no impact on my meal.Reluctantly we agreed to stay, but I made it clear we were getting hungry and wanted to eat soon (we considered leaving it and going elsewhere to be honest). The food eventually turned up and to be fair it was nice enough. However, my wife still didn't get what she asked for (second time) as she was served vegetarian Cottage Pie, which she wouldn't have chosen. Mix up in the freezer? We were offered another drink 'on the house' as an apology for the delays and hassle, which was a nice gesture (I had a low alcohol beer and my wife had a third wine) but ordinarily we wouldn't have had these, and we would have preferred for our correct food just to simply come out in a timely fashion. Why on earth it took so long to discover they didn't have the ingredients we will never know....It seems there are currently two sets of reviews for this pub on TA by the way, one as a restaurant and one as a bar?

I have to agree with an earlier comment unfortunately. We have just visited, April 2019, and were very disappointed. After reading some earlier reviews, especially the enormous fish and chips... we were excited to visit. However although I love the idea of a pub being dog friendly (as a huge dog lover) I was surprised to see food seating covered in dog hairs. Condiments dirty and a smell about the place. The inside was not clean at all and it disappoints me to write this, as the guys in the bar were friendly enough, but I just couldn’t stay in there, let alone eat. I hope over the next year they manage to get it together because it’s such a big old pub that could be a jewel! I imagine an expensive one to maintain... but at the moment, sorry, I could not recommend anyone to visit whilst on holiday on the Broads. **There is free mooring though which is a huge plus to travellers. But the pub itself is not up to the same standards of the others we visited on our trip. Wishing you nothing but the best for the future.

We were camping at a site up the road and the owners had written out some walks, one of which included a stop at the Reedcutters. We arrived just after 12pm on a Saturday, and ordered a couple of pints, which, as a northerner, I was pleasantly surprised to come to £7. We then ordered food, both opting for a jacket potato with homemade chilli, again only £6 each. The pub is larger than it initially looks, we sat just across from the bar so we could see out where the boats were moored, but we could also watch the football on the nearby tv. There is also a larger area with a pool table and a large beer garden. The food arrived quickly, was piping hot and loads of it, a large potato with lots of delicious chilli and a simple but plentiful salad of lettuce, onions, cucumber and tomatoes.

I've been calling in to this lovely old pub for several years, for lunch, dinner or just a drink. Over that time I've taken friends, relatives and, occasionally, just me. The food is always good and I can recommend the fish chips and peas especially, but unless you have an enormous appetite, just order the regular. I ordered the large first time round and nearly had a fit when Moby Dick turned up on my plate. Absolutely delicious but far too much for me, although for the price it was a bargain.

Last Sunday we decided to go for a walk down the river from Brundall to Cantley (about 6 miles via Buckenham). Anyway what a perfect day to sit outside this pub drinking (especially the roobarb cider), having lunch and watching the boats and wildlife go by. If you have never completed this walk it's lovely, we didn't encounter a single person despite the glorious weather and saw lots of marsh harriers and various other birds en route. As per usual the pub owners and regulars were very friendly and the staff always go the extra mile. Once they made me a salad when a buffet came out and there was nothing for vegetarians, it was made into a smiley face and I shall never forget it. Anyway back to Sunday, the food was basic for vegetarians but you don't mind when it's good value and when you are in good company. I would recommend this pub to anyone that doesn't mind being next to a sugar beet factory, it does loom over it but I still think it's one of the best places on the Broads. Oh and there is a train back to Norwich/Brundall if you don't fancy the 6 mile walk back.

Grotty looking place! On the outside you've got to dodge through dog poo everywhere, from the car park, up the banks, right through to what's advertised as the kids play area, which is non existent, as in nothing to play on whatsoever, unless you don't mind your kids playing around the sewage plant! Outside doesn't look too inviting, for example: Some halfwit has filled in wooden window sills with what looks like cement! I wonder how long that will last before it drops out? Effort is made with flower pots and baskets, they did look lovely, but at the end of the day it's attempts at polishing a turd at best! The inside has recently been redecorated by what looks like some poor epileptic having a fit. The landlord looks like he's having some sort of midlife crisis! Scruffy greasy hair (so oily the US will try invading it pretty soon!) tracky bottoms, mules with socks and some weird tight fitting multi coloured tshirt, and his teeth could do with being introduced to a toothbrush and toothpaste. Take a bit of pride in yourself, you're supposed to be a professional businessman creating a good impression of your establishment! The landlady/cook looks like she could scrub up quite well, scrub being the operative word here! One of the barmaids looks half decent considering her age, very friendly, as in throws herself at every male that walks through the door!! The other barmaid is just awful, being served dinner by a toothless old crone, in dirty smelly clothes is just off putting!! Oh and while you eat your food the landlord is an absolute delight, farting loudly while you're trying to tuck into your grub!! Nice, classy, NOT!!Then onto the food and drink, very overpriced drinks. Food portions are absolutely HUGE, you could feed an army off one plate! But that's where the positivity ends, it looks great, but as you tuck in the chips, fish etc are spoiled by being cooked in old oil, bacon is clearly fried in same fryer as the chips as that's all you can taste. No music/jukebox, only the rattling and incessant noise from the overly loud pinball machines, the sky tv only seems to serve as the landlord's pleasure, if you ask for music channels or whatever, you get rebuffed and told by the landlord I'm watching this!! Go upstairs and watch telly!!Another thing, just hope there's never a fire in this building as one of the fire exits into the garden is chained up, and judging by the look of the electrics, it won't be too long before something catches!Dogs on leads are allowed in the bar, except for one little ratty looking thing which will quite happily jump up on the bar and tuck into the bar snacks or will try and jump on your lap while you're eating. I have frequented this pub many times over the years, and am saddened by the way it's going to the dogs and being run into the ground. It could do so much better and new management could bring back the charm this lovely pub once had.Not a customer orientated pub by a long shot, landlord treats it like his own personal playground and will throw his toys out of his pram if you dare criticize any aspect of his management 'skills!' If you look at his comments on other bad reviews, you get an insight into this twerp's mentality. He should remember the old adage the customer is always right, take note, learn from mistakes, seek to improve customer experience, and apologize for any short comings instead of attacking bad reviewers.

Called in for lunch , the kitchen was shut but the landlady obliged cooking our meals specially . We both had the cottage pie with veg , the portions were huge , 5 veg , carrots , leeks , cabbage , cauliflower, broccoli and the cottage pie was wonderful ! All for the bargain price of £8 ! Couldn't fault it ! Shall return . Real wood burner too .

Called in for advice and we stayed for drink. What a lovely place by the River Yure. The owner could not have been more helpful. The drinks were excellent and sensibly priced. Next visit we will try the food. Great pub.

Good home cooked food, friendly owners. Nice to sit by the river watch the boats whist having dinner. First time I've seen a bar-billiards table in a pub for many years and it's free.

A family visit to this pub last week was quite a surprise. The place looks very unprepossing from the outside. In truth it looks quite run down but the owner has focussed on spending on the interior and the garden. The food was good value and good quality. Worth trying.

Stopped here over the weekend for some breakfast. Was a little unsure of what to expect from the outside as it looked very run down and aged. Was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received and the lovely food we ate. All in all very happy and would return again.

Whilst we did not have an evening meal here, we were made most welcome (some of the group had breakfast - it looked good to me!). The beer is good, they made showers available to those who were seeking them and provided water fills for the boats - A boat friendly Broads pub, thank you we will be back.

The food was very nice, definitely home cooked, although at 5 clock arrival we ordered 2 x pate and they only had 1 left which was disappointing but the food in general was very nice, the service was a little slow, but the lady serving was very pleasant and helpfulThe place does look a bit off putting from the outside and if I'm honest could do with a bit of a makeover inside. All I can say is just give it a tryThe food is quite nice, the lamb shank was very very good and the chilli was lovely

The beer was not well kept and overpriced and the lady I guessed was in charge in the bar in her slippers. Food was ok but generally thought this was a poor example of a broads pub.

Visited recently on a boating holiday. Have eaten here very many times and always been pleased with service, value and quality of food. Was not disappointed. Ordered the Belly of Pork and it came with all the Sunday veg and was a huge plateful. Washed down with some excellent Humpty Dumpty beer. Will go again.

If you like the feel of a "big city" pub with loud pin ball machines, multiple screens pumping out 1980's pop music, pool tables, etc. whilst having to shout to make yourself heard, this is the pub for you. However, if you would like to have a quiet meal and drink whilst taking in the nice scenery, best move on.

Another delicious breakfast prepared by Lynn this morning. Her husband Steve was very kind helping us moor our boat in the drizzle and strong winds!! The Reedcutter is the friendliest pub you can imagine with good, home-made food served from 8am until late. A more accommodating couple you couldn't hope to meet. We'll certainly be back for more sustenance during the season!! Many thanks.

It was a sunny Saturday during half term so you would expect there to be adequate staff on. They had a small outside bar which we were told to use but which did not have the draught beer we wanted. At one point during our visit there was noone behind the bar for a full 5 minutes with several people waiting to be served. The maitre d' was abrupt to the point of rudeness. The food was mediocre. Altogether a disappointing experience.

Have been a couple of times to look at the place but always put off by the outside. As locals we thought we should at least least give it a go so read the reviews and expected to be pleasantly surprised. Visited last week but unfortunately this was not the case, although I understand the new owners are trying their best to revive an old building, you would expect the food to be sorted. Only one waitress, a young girl who was attentive when serving meals but disappeared as soon as served. We waited nearly an hour for food with others being served starters and mains while we continued to wait. We ordered fish and chips, burgers, lasagne and lamb. Portion size was good and presented well but food was awful, lamb tasteless, burgers burnt, chips over cooked and the fish was cooked to a cinder, only passable meal was the lasagne. Bar was full and seemed very popular. Would not normally complain and like to support local business as much as possible but visited another local pub yesterday and ordered the same food and the difference was unbelievable therefore felt a comment was necessary. Should have made a comment at the time but felt unable to direct complaints to the young waitress. Sorry not our cup of tea, won't be returning.

Moored up today heading out for a spot of lunch at the reedcutter :) and we were welcomed with smiles and open arms :) the owners are just hilarious and so easy to get on with, and the cider is to die for :) a few steady drinks and then we had to soak up the cider with lunch which was just what we needed, the food was value for money and it's not over priced at all! Highly recommended :)

We moored up at the Reedcutter Inn, Cantley. On approaching the pub there is a sign outside which says "we are open" and from the outside It looks like it needs refurbishment. Due to this we were a bit dubious about going in but inside it was very clean and tidy with very pleasant, polite staff. Any reservations which we had had went straight out of the window so to speak. We had evening meal there and I had the best rib eye steak during our 10 nights stay on the broads. My wife had the salmon steak with veg and new potatoes. There was so much on the plates that neither of us could eat it all.

Went to the reed cutters for lunch, having lived in and around Cantley most of my life this pub has always been a unpleasant and tacky place. However the new owners are clearly making a proper effort although the outside appearance hasn't changed much and the inside is getting better, the food was awesome absolutely awesome, huge portions at very good prices. The staff introduced them selves as we came in and they were very polite. Would definitely recommend this to everyone.

The Reedcutter is in a nice spot by the River Yare, and we called in for a midweek dinner when on holiday in the area. The restaurant was very quiet and we were well looked after by the staff. There's a good range of drinks on offer including some local ales. The food is decent, normal pub food, and there's plenty of it - the portions were huge!Price-wise, it's as expected for a well located pub.

We stopped there for the night, excellent moorings, only woken once by a fox barking outside our boat at about three in the morning. Ale was good, food portions were enormous, unfortunately food quality was only adequate, almost mundane. The 'cook' should visit her nearby competitors, Reedham Ferry & Surlingham Ferry to see what really good cooking is all about. Excellent slipway for launching small boats nearby, one of the best slipways on The Broads. By the way, the Broads is NOT a National Park!

Called in for a casual drink expecting a warm Norfolk welcome in this idyllic positioned bar on the River Yare. The draft Tom Woods beer was un drinkable, the decor was pitiful, and the welcome was probably the worst ever.
