This is the main pub in Marsh Gibbon. It serves up a good pint and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The staff behind the bar are welcoming and helpful and don't rush you as you make up your mind what you want to drink (or eat).No restaurant open at present but they do serve snacks ... and hot drinks with cakes if you have no mind to touch alcohol. And they do bring in guest cooks to cater for special group events,They put on special events at weekends and enjoy dressing up the pub on festive occasions such as Holloween or Christmas. Loads of room for parking at the back and they have a big garden at the back split into two sections with one being dedicated for childrens play (swing, slide, etc). It presents a very safe place for families to gather and play games. From my own point of view they offer a very good selection of draft and bottle beers.

In 40 years of going into country pubs there have been few experiences as bad as this. Utterly soulless, unwelcoming staff, huge telly blasting out daytime rubbish. We won't be back.

Only went for a beer and to listen to the band so can't comment on the food. From the moment we walked in the locals were very friendly and so were the barmen, a tad zaney but very, very welcoming. And the beer was terrific. Couldn't want for more from a pub.

Stumbled across this pub while looking for somewhere nearby to my rally experience. The good is simple but of good quality and staff friendly. A good choice of ales on tap and generally a good atmosphere

Local to us, we had never been there , but visited after a local paper gave it a decent advertorial.Slow service wasn't enhanced by the average food despite a small menu that promised rich rewards. My overlooked fish and chips were desperately dry and the salad main course for my better half , whilst grilled cheese it was cold. All and all an underwhelming dining experience.

It's a Wednesday, neither of us wanted to cook and we fancied a weekday treat. The Plough is not our nearest pub, but it's recently changed hands and we've been in for a pint a few times and keep saying we need to try the food; they have the best home made pork scratchings we've had in a long time which is a good sign the chef knows his beans. Menu is not extensive, but a good choice of traditional and modern pub grub. Didn't bother with starters (it's a Wednesday remember), Wifey went for mac'n'cheese with bacon and garlic bread, I opted for the burger with fries. Burger was lovely, good quality mince with smokey bacon and cheese, and most excellent hot crispy non-greasy chips, pub classic well executed. Verdict from across the table was lots of noises of enjoyment and an empty plate with particular praise for the texture 'not too runny, not to dry, just right'. I had two pints of XT IPA with wifey opting for two bottles of Guinness Porter, all in £33, happy with that for a weekday treat! Need to try Sunday lunch next...

The new landlords of the Plough are a welcome addition to the village. Food is good, good range of drinks and always a bright welcome as you walk in the door. Food is good, not a huge choice but what there is is lovely. Once they have settled in and 'brightened the place up a bit' it will be an excellent place to stop and visit for the whole family. Looking forward to many more visits in the future.

For the first time in years, friendly faces and smiles behind the bar, and a cheery enthusiastic outlook!Great beer selection that changes, food that is great value, and prepared well and with great value! If you haven't been in lately, what are you waiting for?

Visited the plough and food was excellent . Spoke to the lads who are in charge and they seem to have their heads screwed on about their plans to get the pub together again. Once decorated and a few added touches I think the plough will become very popular! Good luck lads

Three young men have taken over the Plough. Very sensibly they are listening to opinion and testing the water. They have only been there six weeks but are personable and should make the pub the core of village life as well as attracting customers from further a field. The beers are kept well, there is good range of wine and the food was really good. There is no printed menu yet but we were offered four starters and four main courses. The service was efficient, we had proper napkins, and the food was nicely presented. Delicious fresh bread, dipping oil and a spice mix was provided; the chorizo cooked in red wine was outstandingly good. The pub was clean and the loos did not smell (see the previous report). There is a huge amount to to do with a venture like this and I feel the 'team of three' are enthusiastic and keen and will make a real go of this.

New owners are a group of young men who are playing at running a pub. The place could do with a good clean and the toilets stink. They don't seem to be bothered as they all congregate behind the bar laughing and joking. Someone needs to take charge and make a plan. Also there isn't any food available and wont be for some time. Lots of promises when they took over but nothing happening. Avoid if you want a family evening out.

We stopped here having been stuck in traffic on the motorways for hours. Result; a stroppy two year old and a baby in desperate need of a feed. My wife found this pub online searching for dog and child friendly pubs near Bicester.A gamble to say the least but one that paid off beautifully! The staff could not have been any more friendly or helpful. They brought out a large bag of toys for our daughter to play with. There was a fantastic comfy chair that acted as the perfect feeding chair. The dog got a fuss and a biscuit. The meal we had was very, very tasty and extremely well priced. The roast was delicious. The bolognaise we ordered as a kid's meal was very meaty, well sized and went down quickly. The well equipped , outside play area caused delight and made getting back into the car bearable!I cannot praise the staff enough. A lot of chain pubs and swanky gastro-pubs could learn a lot from the honesty and directness of the welcome. All in all a very useful visit, and only ten minutes from the motorway. This pub has now firmly been placed on our list of places that can break the journey to Granny and Grandad's!
