My mum booked a table today for lunch at 1pm. We got there to be told by a member staff of that they tried to ring my mum to say that the chef is away for 2 weeks. Yet..a member of staff has booked us in for lunch today ? There was also no missed calls from anybody from this pub! My mum came all the way from Aylesbury to meet myself and my son for lunch . Surely the staff would of known the chef is away for 2 weeks?! And why take bookings if he's away? This is not the first time this pub has had problems as my in laws have tried to come here several times only to be told there not serving lunch yet there's a sign outside there pub saying serving lunch between 12 and 2pm? After reading the other negative reviews this seems like a common problem with this pub. People been booked in to then be turned away! This pub may aswell close down!!

I know this pub from old and would recommend a visit after the extensive renovation the new owner has made. He has made it a comfortable cosy pub/ restaurant to visit. Great place to relax and eat. Jamie is a great host and has a good northern sense of humour. Good selection of beers and cask. Give it a go.

Lovely village pub, we had a really good Sunday lunch today 27/10/24 not busy / or rushed as some puds do on a Sunday, on leaving the car park was full, dog friendly which is always nice, drinks and the meals for 3 adults £89, and we added the tip, ( which I like) nice outside area too, family friendly 😊

I am afraid my experiences are always based on several visits. This was my first as my daughter lives in the village. I'm not happy to hear your service times are limited to twice a week! How can anyone become 'attached' or use it reqularly with that timescale. I am unlikely to see you again for many months. Your opening hours are somewhat restrictive.

Lovely and welcoming pub. Really great outdoor patio/garden with chill out areas to sit on a summers evening. I had a pizza from their outdoor kitchen for £10, good ingredients and nicely cooked. Great value. Their main menu looks full of classics and more creative dishes - prices £12-16 for a main which is pretty good when you get rubbish chains costing more than that. Their Sunday lunch is apparently very good. I will be back to try! The bar has a nice selection of beers and wines with real ale from the local brewery. Pint of beer was well kept. Inside of the pub looked like a nice place to hangout on a colder night.

During my recent visit to The Plough Inn, I encountered several concerning issues that significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. Firstly, the schnitzel I ordered arrived undercooked and raw in the center, which was not only unappetizing but also a serious food safety concern. While we did ask for, and get, the sauce on the side, there was absolutely no garnish so the presentation of the dish was reminiscent of something from McDonald's. This oversight in the kitchen was quite disappointing and affected my impression of the restaurant's standards. Secondly, there was a billing error where drinks from another table were mistakenly added to our bill. This mix-up led to unnecessary confusion and inconvenience during payment. Moreover, the atmosphere of the restaurant was far from pleasant. The noise level was excessively loud, reminiscent of a school hall during the indoor play, rather than a relaxing dining environment. The cacophony made it difficult to enjoy a conversation or meal in peace. Our ears are still ringing. Overall, my experience at The Plough fell very short of expectations. The issues with food quality, service accuracy, and ambiance were notable drawbacks that overshadowed any positive aspects of the visit. I hope these concerns can be addressed to ensure a more enjoyable experience for future visitors.

Best Sunday lunch I've had in a while. The portion size of the roast was good (pudding could have been smaller). All the food was tasty. The waitresses were very attentive without being intrusive. Everyone was friendly. We did not feel rushed at all and could have settled in for the afternoon if we didn't have things to do at home! Lovely atmosphere too. We went with our 4 children, (3 year old, 5 year old and 6 months old twins) for mine and my 3 year olds birthday (4 next week) Our 2 older girls wanted to show one of the waitresses their light box they had, the waitress was very kind and took time to come back and chat to them when she was free, making them feel important and not dismissed before continuing on with her work. Our food came in good time. We were offered refills of our drinks regularly which i loved! I can not wait to eat here again and try something else on the menu. I see they have a pizza oven and plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months! I'm definitely returning when they open that! Although, the roast was so good, I may just go on Sunday again!

This is the main pub in Marsh Gibbon. It serves up a good pint and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The staff behind the bar are welcoming and helpful and don't rush you as you make up your mind what you want to drink (or eat).No restaurant open at present but they do serve snacks ... and hot drinks with cakes if you have no mind to touch alcohol. And they do bring in guest cooks to cater for special group events,They put on special events at weekends and enjoy dressing up the pub on festive occasions such as Holloween or Christmas. Loads of room for parking at the back and they have a big garden at the back split into two sections with one being dedicated for childrens play (swing, slide, etc). It presents a very safe place for families to gather and play games. From my own point of view they offer a very good selection of draft and bottle beers.

It's a Wednesday, neither of us wanted to cook and we fancied a weekday treat. The Plough is not our nearest pub, but it's recently changed hands and we've been in for a pint a few times and keep saying we need to try the food; they have the best home made pork scratchings we've had in a long time which is a good sign the chef knows his beans. Menu is not extensive, but a good choice of traditional and modern pub grub. Didn't bother with starters (it's a Wednesday remember), Wifey went for mac'n'cheese with bacon and garlic bread, I opted for the burger with fries. Burger was lovely, good quality mince with smokey bacon and cheese, and most excellent hot crispy non-greasy chips, pub classic well executed. Verdict from across the table was lots of noises of enjoyment and an empty plate with particular praise for the texture 'not too runny, not to dry, just right'. I had two pints of XT IPA with wifey opting for two bottles of Guinness Porter, all in £33, happy with that for a weekday treat! Need to try Sunday lunch next...

Three young men have taken over the Plough. Very sensibly they are listening to opinion and testing the water. They have only been there six weeks but are personable and should make the pub the core of village life as well as attracting customers from further a field. The beers are kept well, there is good range of wine and the food was really good. There is no printed menu yet but we were offered four starters and four main courses. The service was efficient, we had proper napkins, and the food was nicely presented. Delicious fresh bread, dipping oil and a spice mix was provided; the chorizo cooked in red wine was outstandingly good. The pub was clean and the loos did not smell (see the previous report). There is a huge amount to to do with a venture like this and I feel the 'team of three' are enthusiastic and keen and will make a real go of this.

New owners are a group of young men who are playing at running a pub. The place could do with a good clean and the toilets stink. They don't seem to be bothered as they all congregate behind the bar laughing and joking. Someone needs to take charge and make a plan. Also there isn't any food available and wont be for some time. Lots of promises when they took over but nothing happening. Avoid if you want a family evening out.

We stopped here having been stuck in traffic on the motorways for hours. Result; a stroppy two year old and a baby in desperate need of a feed. My wife found this pub online searching for dog and child friendly pubs near Bicester.A gamble to say the least but one that paid off beautifully! The staff could not have been any more friendly or helpful. They brought out a large bag of toys for our daughter to play with. There was a fantastic comfy chair that acted as the perfect feeding chair. The dog got a fuss and a biscuit. The meal we had was very, very tasty and extremely well priced. The roast was delicious. The bolognaise we ordered as a kid's meal was very meaty, well sized and went down quickly. The well equipped , outside play area caused delight and made getting back into the car bearable!I cannot praise the staff enough. A lot of chain pubs and swanky gastro-pubs could learn a lot from the honesty and directness of the welcome. All in all a very useful visit, and only ten minutes from the motorway. This pub has now firmly been placed on our list of places that can break the journey to Granny and Grandad's!

The real ales just speak for themselves. You might find them as good elsewhere, but you won't better them.
