A surprise Birthday meal for Barrys 60th, last night. Excellent service by Keyliegh and Becca. Food hot and delicious. Drinks served at the table all evening. Made a great effort on our behalf. Thank you so much all the Staff, Chefs and Anja Pub Manager. Excellent place to go, anytime, but especailly for an occaision. Xxx Thank you Carol and Barry Dupree.

What a lovely place! Been a couple of times in the past but never eaten. I booked a table for my husband’s birthday and I’m so glad I did! Food was absolutely delicious and a better upmarket pub menu. The portions are large and worth every penny. The kid’s meals are great value especially the make your own cheesecake sundae. We all agreed it was the best meal out in ages. Only downside was service was slightly slow, we had to ask a few times for the water we ordered with our drinks. We will definitely be back!

Nothing negative to say. Staff including ,Becca and Jamie, very attentive and friendly. Food was very good. Compliments to the kitchen staff too.

My friend and I had a lovely meal at the shoulder of mutton and Jamie was an amazing host. Very attentive and went over and above to look after us. The food was amazing and great portion sizes. We left very full and happy with the whole experience. Thanks Jamie for making our time a memorable one.

We hadn't visited this pub for quite a long time and thought we would try it again. The restuarant was looking a bit tired and the service was on the slow side which was suprising as there was only four other tables being served. The serving staff were pleasant and the food was okay. Probably won't be rushing back.

Food so so. The cauliflower cheese with the roast was very watery. Wouldn't buy it again. Staff lovely but they were over stretched. Would visit again

Came to the Shoulder & Mutton today and it was great! Jake was our server and made the experience very pleasant! Food was lovely all 5 of us loved all our meals!

Visited for a family celebration. Lovely food and Elouise was a great server.

Disappointing food - ordered pie and chips and instead of chips, the pie came with slices of potato that were soggy and wrinkly and oily - had obviously been reheated a number of times alongside the rest of the green veg. Everyone else on the table had normal chips! I queried with the server who was an older lady and she argued with me that they were indeed ‘special chips’ and then walked off not to return. Pie was ok but the sides were pretty gross and let it down, as did the attitude of the server! Won’t be coming back!

Just wanted to say thank you to the staff at the shoulder of mutton , we had a lovely meal ( 8 people) we sampled the new summer menu and the food and service was excellent 👍

Table choice was very limited, not because of it being busy, but because of material that might fall from the ceiling apparently? (Looked OK to me). Wouldn't normally have mattered to me but I had taken a elderly friend out for dinner and would have liked to have been sat in a quieter area where we could hear each other clearly, rather than sat next to bigger and noisier tables. The bread that accompanied the soup was definitely not freshly cut. (it had started to hardened on both sides) and the croutons in the soup tasted as tho they were past their best. Steak was not cooked to liking either. In fairness, I'm sure if I had complained, then the food issues may have been addressed. I have dined here many times in the past with my family, but not for a year or so and it was always very good. On this occasion I had taken an elderly friend out for dinner, and did not want to make any fuss. Hopefully this was a one off experience?

Absolutely brilliant. A lovely pub hidden in Wendover, the food came out very quickly, the gammon was perfectly cooked and our server, Keyleigh, was very friendly and chatty. Would happily return,

Had to wait over an hour for food and then got a parking ticket. When I called to ask them if they would cancel it they rudely refused as they said they had signs up, I certainly didn’t see any. Don’t see why they can’t just cancel it as a common curtesy to a customer. Won’t be going there again.

The food was wonderful. It's the first place that I ever had Pork Belly, and it's still the best. The Salted Caramel Sundae was equally fantastic.

Food was ok with most of the tried and tested choices of a pub chain.

Very dog friendly. You definitely need to book tables inside in advance. We have always been lucky with getting an outside seat in the summer. Plenty of shade in the garden.

Popped into shoulder of mutton for a quick lunch and was absolutely delighted with the restaurant itself and the service. The food was delicious and also very quick. The price range was also very reasonable. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Good food friendly service nice Atmosphere

Been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Today however must have been an off day, steak and ale pie was cold in the middle, veg wasn’t even cooked. Told the waitress of the issue and didn’t hear anything back, think she must have gone home. Mrs said the roast was okay, meat a bit tough but otherwise okay. For the price (£98+) you would expect a lot more, so not great.

Maybe the chef had a bad day! But not up to the standard of previous visit!

We had a great experience here for my daughter’s birthday on 26/02/24. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special and welcome. They had put banners up for my daughter’s birthday which was very thoughtful. The service was excellent, the staff member who was with us most of our stay, got some paper and crayons for my daughter to use. She was chatty and attentive. Then when we had our desserts come out, a staff member had put a candle into my daughter’s dessert and sang her happy birthday.This made the whole experience very special. My 3 year old was so happy. It made the whole experience with a little one a whole lot easier. Thank you.

Food was absolutely fantastic! Really great service from the team too, shout out to Georgina for being superb.

We popped in for a couple of pints and the pub was warm, well appointed and had a great selection of drinks on draught.

OK pub grub. Chicken pie could have done with more filling. Not a bad establishment though for family lunch out.

Nice pub with great customer service but our food was very disappointing. Mushroom pie from the microwave, even vegetables were untasty and roasted potatoes were inedible. I wouldn't recommend this place for food.

The last time I was here was fifty years ago, it's changed a lot! Hardly a regular. Used to have bands on for mostly greasers. Much nicer now with real fire and decent menu. Mother enjoyed it.

Had a lovely Sunday roast last weekend. Great service - Kayleigh was so good with our kids & really accommodating. The roast beef was delicious! Will be back.

Stopped here while walking the Ridgeway. Great welcome, tasty food, good beer (including gluten free for the wife) and more dogs than people (almost). No issues with our muddy boots and muddier spaniel. What more could you want.

Nice looking place with friendly staff and good service. However the mushroom pie that we had was substandard.

Dropped in for a steak sandwich and a couple of pints after a walk to Coombe Hill. A very dog friendly place with its own doggie menu.

Shoulde of Mutton. Memory of 1975. We used to go to this pub with my friends from Halton camp when we were young boys, we enjoyed the drinks, food, atmosphere, music, dancing, we met people from surroundings villages, people were friendly, nice .Good old days, I love this pub, I love the name, hope I will visit this place one day soon.

Sunday roasts here are great value and the best we’ve experienced in the area. This is a VERY dog friendly pub which is why it is our favourite place to drink in wendover. On arrival today my two Labradors were greeted with bags of treats made out to them from santa paws. The staff frequently go above and beyond. Highly recommend.

Family get together just before Christmas. Lovely pub, lovely food. Really enjoyable evening out.

The food was good but the service was absolutely terrible! The servers were clueless - nobody seemed to know what they were doing. For a 1pm reso, it was gone 2pm before we could place our food order. The drinks took ages to arrive and nobody checked back to see if we needed anything. Very disappointing - would not recommend.

First visit for Saturday lunch pre Xmas. A friendly welcome and nice ambience. We ordered off a set menu. My starter although ordered was forgotten so we had to wait for it. Luckily the other starter was a cold one! My cod loin was nice but the turkey was very mediocre. Ordering drinks from the table was not guaranteed either. Maybe we were just unlucky but we won't be rushing back!

I had ordered slow cooked rib beef , cooked to a good standard , was very tasty , prior to ordering I was a little hesitant as where I have ordered before else where it wasn't very good. I ome here regular the staff are fabulous, kind friendly and on the ball is my experience here . I look forward to returning . ☺️ Happy customer .

Put number plate in the kiosk as asked. Got fined 100 quid for parking by euro parks. Shoulder of mutton refused to help me even though it was their mistake. Was angry as had to call 9 times to speak to a human. Manager was unhelpful and said that he didn't care if I didn't visit again. Listen to the people that keep your business running. Faceless organisation.

Roast dinner was beautiful .large amounts and served hot ..could have had more gravy though ! Just found it was cold in restaurant but I suppose as we were the first diners the restaurant wasn't warmed up b4 hand !! X

Enjoyed a decent meal here, the place was clean, service was quick and the staff were attentive. I have marked it 3 stars for atmosphere purely because there was a bit of a “locals only” vibe in the main bar.

Food, ie vegetables tasted as if they had been cooked a long time and then warmed up. One roast potato was inedible as rotten inside. Children's meals very poor.. Pasta very small and hard. Steak meal over cooked along with the baked beans.

Tuesday lunch stop. Superb service and tasty food. No cask beer on the 5 cask pumps, so had to have keg. Good pub, good experience. Would recommend.

Apologies were given that service may be slow as short staffed and busy. It wasn't! They were great and the food was lovely with plenty of choice. It's a popular place and easy to see why. Lots of parking available.

Came to your restaurant for a family meal and was amazed by the customer service that was given to us in such a busy day. We were given amazing recommendations for drinks at the bar by Keyleigh who was also extremely polite and patient with us, we were then also tented to one of your waitresses Eloise who gave us recommendations of specials and someone who maintained a happy and friendly attitude throughout the whole time at your restaurant. Please give my thanks to them for making my experience with you guys and I will definitely be returning.

I had dinner here recently. Everything about the place is pretty average. It is a decent enough venue. The food is mediocre in my experience, so not bad but not standout either. What impressed me was the service... Jamie and Keeley were excellent, both in personality and attentiveness. They have a good-sized car park. I would return if I am ever back in the area.

I went there the other day and was greeted by a lovely waitress I think her name was eloise she gave us excellent service for drinks and food, I would highly recommend going back there the place was lovely and the food was delicious.

Food was great and good portion sizes. Carol's service was excellent throughout.

We had lunch as a group of 15 for a 50th birthday. The staff were wonderful and the food hot and all came together which was amazing given they didn’t require a pre-order. We felt completely unhurried and relaxed in our alcove space. Thank you so much. We’ll definitely return!

We had a delicious family meal with 3 young children. The staff were very accommodating of our requests. Keyleigh, our server, was lovely & communicated well with the children as well as the adults. She made us feel comfortable & welcome.
