Saturday lunch. The food is outstanding! I had the Peterhead cod main (specials board) and liquorice ice cream with beetroot purée desert both of which were perfect, truly top quality presentation and delicious 😋. My wife had the pork belly main and pineapple tart tatin desert which was also top class. It seemed a little long to wait for both the main and dessert to arrive but when it did it was evident exactly where that time had been spent and it was definitely worth it. It takes time to prepare culinary excellence and we will most definitely be back for more 👍👍 Oh and not to forget the great service too.

I booked The Plough for 2 nights t because it is fairly remote but only 2 miles off the A20. Expected it to be quiet and it was, unless you don’t like birdsong. So location superb. Accommodation, the fact that the rooms are in a separate building was another plus point, no noise from the bar to potentially disturb you. Room(s) were very comfortable, clean, warm and the shower what great water pressure and was hot, lovely. Marianne showed us to our room on arrival and even carried our luggage ! Marianne was attentive and caring and you couldn’t want for a better host. Breakfast was delivered to your room and the time you requested and was very good, especially the cooked food which arrived still hot and was very tasty. Dinner on Tuesday was a burger for me and Sausages and mash for my wife, both meals were once again very tasty, you could taste every element that had gone into preparing the dish. My wife had a starter and dessert (stick toffee pudding). Now she normally has a couple of mouth fulls of the dessert and I get to finish it off (not wanting to waste food), no chance didn’t get near it, had to satisfy myself with another pint of ale….. Wednesday I had the burger again, it was that good on Tuesday and was the same on Wednesday. Marilyn (the wife) had the pie (she doesn’t eat pies) but the combination of Pork, Chorizo and fennel was too good to miss, it was delicious. Dessert was Liquorice Cheesecake with Golden beetroot terrine and beetroot sorbet, well I didn’t get any of that either. Great food, special Chef. The staff were very attentive and friendly as were the Locals, although being midweek in October it was very quiet. I imagine that it’s very busy on the weekends and during the Summer months. We will be back, in a few months time. It’s a great Gastropub and like a good Restaurant you will need to be patient for the meals to be prepared, especially if it’s busy, but it will be worth the wait. Treat yourself and your loved one, you deserve it.

Firstly, absolutely beautiful food. We had the soup, lamb, crab tacos and the pie followed by deserts. All top class and faultless. Lovely atmosphere in the pub. Secondly, the room was amazing. Panoramic views of the countryside and far reaching views of the sea. Breakfast was also amazing, which was delivered to us at the morning. Excellent service and staff. We will definitely be returning, next time with the pooches!

AVOID! I went with a friend, off the back of getting a complimentary Sunday dinner voucher for two from the owners, as the food and service were so utterly appalling on a previous occasion. However, I didn't think the disastrous visit previously could be repeated, but how wrong was I. I had hoped lesson's would have been learnt, but sadly alas no. 4 visits to the table asking for our orders from different waitress suggests poor communication, dinner nought out with no roast potatoes, so the rest of the dinner was by then cold, which resulted in a staggered eating experience for my friend and I. Waitress upsold the pudding which, whilst it tasted lovely it was literally a teaspoons worth of dessert for £9. The owner was highly embarrassed and did not charge us and said to keep the voucher for another occasion but I was not prepared to chance a 3rd visit so I re gifted. When this couple visited the owners refused to accept the voucher and made them pay full price. The feedback I received was they were so rude to my friends. Never again. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere.

Wonderful food (inc bar snacks!), beer and wine. This has become a regular haunt for my family - the menu is great, satisfying and hearty food - especially their roast dinner. Second time I’ve been to the plough for a meal, and yesterday’s experience was excellent. Nice, friendly & helpful staff, good food that came out quite quickly and was tasty & of great quality (we both had gammon, egg & chips with an ice cream desert, and a lovely warm, cozy & inviting bar/ restaurant area. Food was reasonably priced, and I’d thoroughly recommend this as a lovely place to go for casual dining with family & friends. Booking is highly recommended, and they will take your credit card number when you book (standard practice now for many venues due to high numbers of ‘no shows’). Ample parking, so no need to worry about scraped doors if you drive something ‘nice’!

Mixed News As you can see by my profile, I do go to lots of venues. This is undoubtedly one of the most stunning looking. Started with one of my all time favourites, pigeon breast. They were served with a very strong watercress dressing. One of the two breasts was a little over cooked the other more so sadly. Didn't say anything as I wanted to assess the whole experience. The mains were very nicely cooked lamb for my partner and beef, served as rare as I wanted. Both meats were very nice quality too. The vegetables were a little lacking in flavour apart from the red cabbage (which featured with my pigeon too) the potatoes were nice though my oartner thought they were a bit too crunchy, I like them like that. She was very impressed with her cauliflower cheese. The Yorkshire puddings were a significant disappointment as very crisp and dark with almost no soft inside, just crunchy. Staff polite and helpful, toilets clean but a bit utilitarian but then it is a very old building! Grounds very nice. Saved dessert for a later venue. Nearly there but a few glitches.

We stayed in our campervan overnight in the pubs camping field this past very wet weekend. After setting up we went off for a walk exploring the paths and lanes that surround this very quiet and rural location. When we got back the open fire was roaring away and the drinks tasted better. Dinner was up there with the best I've had. A long way from pub grub but served and tasting more like city fine dining without the price tag. I need to emphasise, the food is amazing. The staff and owners (and regulars who joined us to watch the rugby on our iPad) were friendly and the whole afternoon lovely despite the weather. This will now be a regular overnight getaway in our calendar.

Easily the best pub in Kent for a Sunday lunch. Very traditional building with open fires, excellent range of beers and spirits - think Goachers & Chapel Down. Menu caters for a range of tastes and think just the "right" level of fine dining given the setting - e.g. a Sunday roast with plenty of trimmings, but equally the appearance of the odd jus or similar, so traditional with a contemporary twist. Only catch is the location is a little rural, meaning you'll need to have a plan for after the Chapel Down... Plenty of nice countryside in the immediate vicinity to combine with a walk.

Then dinner - well once again wow we had one of the best meals I have had - the venison was to die for, but leave room for the sticky toffee pudding as that was to die for and all served by the most friendly attentive staff and special mention to the guy with the husky. Can't fault the service and ambience at The Plough Inn, we stayed in one of the converted Barns, top spec's and lovely details everywhere. A bath and separate shower, it's split level so bedroom and bathroom downstairs with a TV if you want one plus a living room upstairs with a even bigger Smart TV if you know your Netflix password etc you can even carry on as if you have not left home. The breakfast choices were very flexible, we basically went for the Breakfast rools with Fried Eggs and sausage or bacon 🥓 with orange juice Coffee and Tea plus Fruit Salad, the French Pastries were warm and all presented in your living room in the barn, you let them know what time and your choices no matter what you want it arrives hot from the kitchen. Dog friendly downstairs with dog bowls and treats provided. Lot's of dog friendly grass outside our door for our Pug to roam around safely, always a worry. The parking is spot on, remember its a busy vibrant pub so if you want lunch or dinner it's available when the chef is on duty even if off duty we were offered a supper of cheese and ham etc We stayed for Sunday lunch with friends, the menu is not just roast dinner plenty of Specials on the blackboard, the pub is dog friendly too so lots of cuddles from the staff. I randomly chose the Plough Inn when looking for a stop over between London and Eurotunnel Folkestone. The pictures on Google maps looked good. What a great choice it turned out to be. The rooms were very comfortable in a separate building behind the pub, recently refurbished, very comfortable bed and good bathroom with separate sitting area on a mezzanine floor. Fresh milk was available for a morning coffee. Dinner was excellent, there is a hearty pub food menu but the specials were amazing, the best venison we have eaten for a long time (and that includes at a number of Michelin starred establishments), the quail starter was also excellent, really good flavours. The cheese board had a good selection to choose from and the cheeses were ripe and ready to eat NOT dull and just out of the fridge as is often the case elsewhere! A great bottle of Burgundy at a decent price finished things off nicely (again not to be found in some of the London restaurants these days). If we lived closer we would be here regularly- as it is we will be visiting again when we next go to the Tunnel and maybe stay more than 1 night.

Thus said we took to the sofa to enjoy a drink and the starters were excellent. Sunday roast was ok. Had better, had worse. On receipt of the bill very surprised at price of wine bearing in mind price point of food and beer. Had asked for my fav sauv blanc. No alternatives offered or discussed. £13.55 for a glass of wine is extortionate when a pint of beer is £5.90. Would have expected to pay around £9. Will not revisit.

We decided to try The Plough Inn after reading glowing reviews. We were not disappointed - firstly the homemade bread was delicious, soft on the inside, crunchy outside, perfect! I’m not a big fan of beef so opted for the chicken, moist and tasty, with plenty of well cooked vegetables, and I added a yorkie to my meal. My husband loves roast beef when we sous vide it at home but is always disappointed when we eat out, on this basis he too ordered chicken with a beef supplement - he was not disappointed and next time will go for the beef entirely! Dessert of orange pavlova was worthy of a Michelin star (we eat in many Michelin restaurants) and so much nicer than desserts we’ve had in Michelin or AA restaurants! Remind me of the oil and micro herb accompaniment, it was delicious. The pub is 45 minutes from our home but was well worth the trip. Will we be back? - definitely

Visited this hidden gem on my daughters hen night out. Lovely cocktail bar with friendly owners and staff. Excellent cocktails and they even tailor made a cocktail for one of our group! There was a disco on playing dance music inside the bar. There is also a secluded garden area with seating which was really welcoming after a very hot day. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely be going again.

This is now called Luna Cafe. Offering English and amazing Turkush food. We came yesterday for the first . Ordered the Turkish breakfast for 2. A huge platter arrived. Jams, bread, eggs, meat ( which I didn't eat as I'm veggie) cucumber, tomatoes and olives. And plenty of unlimited Turkush tea. Highly recommended. £16 for 2 people . We will definitely return
