The Pigs in North Norfolk

The restaurant is out in the sticks so there was plenty of parking. The room was very quirky, full of pig ornaments and pictures. The table decor was very simple. The food was amazingly good. Simple dishes cooked just right. Mrs Barganax opted for the belly pork and black pudding. I had the half bbq chicken. Alas, there was no room for dessert.

Last night my husband, friends and I made a return visit to The Pigs at Edgefield in Norfolk. We have eaten dinner there before, without any complaints. We all ordered starters, my husband and one friend were served their starters on saucers...the food was also very small. I ordered a prawn cocktail with chunky chips instead of a main. My food turned up on a small glass chutney jar. I asked to speak to the manager. I asked her what the so called prawns were, as they were tiny... shrimps.... without any sauce and a tiny amount of shop bought mixed leaves. I asked if she thought that these were prawns? She replied "I don't eat prawns, so don't know what they are supposed to look like" I asked her to take the small jar away that I had turned out into a plate.I had a dinner of oven chips served in a small dish What a disappointment. We all agreed that we definitely WONT be making a return visit. We live locally and always considered The Pigs to be a good place to enjoy an evening with friends.....not any more. If I could have given a minus star, I would have for food, service and atmosphere.....the place was almost empty on a Saturday night....maybe other people knew more than we did!!!

Very very disappointed , food very average, could have been a lot hotter. Felt like it had been prepared the day before. Service ok but very overrated. New menu feels same as the old one. I’d say not value for money have fish and chips on the beach.

Lovely Sunday evening dinner with family .. great service .. roast beef was ok was quite thin and wasn’t asked how we wld like it cooked .. but other meals lovely !

We recently had a family gathering at the Pigs, service was very good however the food very average. Starters were decent, the best one being the Old Smokey haddock dish. The roast dinners wasn’t very good as the beef tastes like it was cooked in a water bath. The pie was ok it had way too much soggy sage stuffing in. The pudding tray isn’t for me, I’d rather have one nice desert rather than loads of individual items which they’ve focused on quantity rather than quality. Expensive for what it is however the location and set up is very good and the staff was excellent just a shame about the food as it’s gone downhill.

We booked a very special family meal for 10. Not been for some years, previously were very happy. We frequently use the Assembly Rooms in Norwich and Byfords and are never disappointed. This time however, the food left a lot to be desired. The burgers were nothing to write home about, and as for the PIG EVENT!!! It was a very average roast dinner....wafer thin slices of pork and no crackling. For an astronomical cost of £51!!! Then we come to the play area.....hoping to enjoy our adult time and keep the kiddies entertained...we then found all the games had a 50p charge every few minutes! In our so called 'cashless society'...we had not expected to bring pockets of coins with us.....for your prices, surely they should be free to diners? We will not be returning.

This pub is awful 😖 it's grub is 💩 and the prices are ridiculous as its another Bydords place I say avoid this place as its not worth going here so just forget wasting your hard earned cash in this rotten pub!

Having been told how wounderful and how fantastic the food was by family and friends we were hugly disappointed. I had the fish and chips I would have expected to have had fresh fish since near the coast. The chips were well cooked the fish was small and not meaty as would have expected from a nice piece of cod which this wasn't. Our friends had a toad in the hole from the specials menu the base to the toad in the hole was soggy and stuck to the bottom of the skillet it was served in. The deserts seemed as though they had been microwaved to heat up rather than being freshly prepared. If you want to be seen in Norfolk than this is the place for you, if you want good food there are far better places to eat that are cheaper and better value here in Norfolk where you don't have to spend a fortune for a good meal. I would rate the Pigs as pub grub done badly. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Lovely really enjoyed dinner served by a young lady called Nicole she was very professional and made sure everything was as best at it could be - manageress was brilliant also she was very busy and kept everything running smoothly - food was lovely enjoyed was very quick and efficient really flavoursome had main and dessert cocktail which was delicious and tea and coffee , couldn't fault it. Would recommend to anyone - families, couples or groups they seem to cater for everyone.

Always enjoy a visit to The Pigs at Edgefield in Norfolk and thus time stayed in the Wallow. As well as a comfy room with sauna and steam room this also has the outside hot tub which us good but not built for an easy entrance or exit. Staff great and the breakfast was delicious

We have just come back from having lunch at the pigs. And we can’t stop talking about it I’m not for not for the right reasons. The lunchtime menu was more like a breakfast menu, lots of fried food I decided to have something off the special board which is far from special!. There are only two things on the special board fish and chips and a lamb burger. I have a burger and two my friends had fish and chips.. The burger itself wasn’t too bad, but the bun was dry toasted, and chips were triple cooked, but I think they’ve been reheated at least six times tasted of Dirty oil? My friends, fish and chips with had so much batter and very little fish and again was so dry! everything has been reheated I’m definitely not fresh. my other two friends had steak and a flatbread for two fried eggs. A weird combination. And very greasy almost uneditable flatbread. We had dessert which wasn’t bad, but it was like my six year- old had made the apple sundae? Perhaps we caught on a bad day, but I can’t imagine it being that much better on a good day, with that type of menu, sorry to say that staff training also needs to be addressed but I think I’m gonna leave it that?

This place just hits the spot for visitors; young or old, near or far, posh or not. Its massive car park is never empty from breakfast to bedtime. Food and drink is great and served in a restaurant with eclectic design and superb atmosphere. This is a 'Go To' place. Spa treatments and hotel rooms available too.

Stayed for 1 night in a Spa Suite and we had an amazing time. The room was outstanding and the food delicious, it’s a shame time went so quickly. The only down side is the price, but they’re unique and that’s what you’re paying for.

A 2 night stay in the Bubble and Squeak room was really enjoyable. We loved the private facility of a hot tub and a sauna. The rooms and whole place are creatively decorated and everything was clean and spotless. We had an enjoyable meal on the first night and the breakfast offering is spectacular. The massage was excellent, provided by a really professional practitioner. The ambience of the hotel/pub/hotel/spa is relaxed and welcoming with the sort of service that is spot on - friendly and efficient without being overly attentive. It was a really delightful break. It seems that a car is esential as there are many places worth seeing in the area but Edgefield seems a sleepy place without much going on.

Wonderful food, friendly pub. The pudding table, which I think is only available at lunchtimes is divine. It’s also very reasonably priced. Will go back for more desserts!

Gastro pub style eatery and dogs are welcome. Ample parking. Friendly servers. Good selection of nicely cooked meals which arrived in a timely way and were very tasty. Nice desserts too!

Not sure what the hype is all about. £20 for a roast and it was luke warm and the beef was fatty and Yorkshire pudding was so hard. Kids pork burgers were pink and the kids meals do not include any veg which I think is a bit bad especially when kids meal is £8. Dessert table had no bowls, and hot puddings ran out. Things did not seem to be replaced and people were asking staff for a lot of things. The whole place just seemed badly organised Wouldn’t recommend especially for how expensive it is

Great food, pork is especially great as you’d expect. Staff are exceptionally helpful and efficient.

Visited on a Saturday with family and friends, a table of 7. Ordered within 10 minutes of sitting down. It started to get busy and although our food wasn't coming we were as patient as we could be. After over an hour of waiting we finally went to the bar to ask where our food was (the guy serving our table seemed to have disappeared). They went to check things out and I can only summise that they had mislaid our order. Apologies we're made but if course by this time the damage was done. Finally after an hour and a half of waiting our food arrived. Myself and my wife had the steak pie. It was sooooooo salty. We were so hungry though I didn't let it touch the sides. My wife did complain and her pie was knocked off the bill. We did have pudding and then left 3 hours after we arrived. Unfortunately it seems like there are no systems in place to stop this happening. Nobody seems to be running the front of house. It's just kids waiting on the tables and they're left to themselves. The poor lad who seemed to have mislaid our order was very apologetic. We got 20% taken off our bill - we would have had 10% taken off for Norfolk passport anyway. Basically for my family we had about £7 taken off. Unfortunately our experience doesn't seem to be a one off as other reviews seem to show. Hopefully The Pigs can sort themselves out. We won't be back until they do!!!

We are currently here for a 2 night stay, we are staying in the Sty in the Sky room. The hotel is gorgeous, the staff are amazing and the food is to a very high standard not to mention delicious. However the best of the stay was attending the Pigspa. I had a Skin Purity Facial and my therapist was Mimi, who was lovely. The facial was undoubtedly the best treatment I have had and I would highly recommend visiting the spa when your here. Myself and my husband look forward to returning.
