I received an email the day of my event sent at 4.20pm but not seen by me until 6pm informing me that our food would be delivered between 5 and half past rather than the arranged 6.30pm due to adverse weather conditions. The venue had NOTHING to do with our event. It is a private function room. The tables for the buffet were not set up ready to receive when the food was delivered at 5.15pm which is the time venue bar staff told us it was delivered. (The catering owner states it was actually 5.45pm) My staff member arrived at 6pm to set up the trestle tables and the food had already arrived. She then set up the tables and when I arrived we had to move all the food over to where it should be. In my opinion the catering shed should have called the venue and got the number for the organiser (me) and contacted me directly. Better yet they should have taken a contact number in the first place. We could then have arranged to receive and refrigerate at my Nursery up the road. It’s completely unacceptable even had the food been perfect to deliver 1.5 hours earlier than expected without proper communication. But sadly the food was far from perfect. I sent an email on 17th November stating ‘Paid with thanks. Can I just check a few things please. I know I just said NO NUTS but also please no orange or rosemary unlikely as they are anyway. I know there will be candied peel in mince pies and just that is ok.’ Owner replied on 23rd…6 days later (which is a recurring theme-2 days maximum for a business reply is acceptable in my humble opinion) ‘Received your payment with thanks. I have also made notes of your requests.’ Obviously she hadn’t made a note. Because I opened the ‘Deluxe Cheese Platter’ and was smacked in the face with orange smell which made me vomit. (It’s my allergy which triggers vomiting and migraine) Now who puts Orange halves in with cheese…especially SOFT cheese which will soak up the orange flavour?! Especially when you’ve been specifically asked not to use oranges due to an allergy. The whole cheese board was then off limits to me. The owner has replied to my complaints basically stating that nobody else has complained and implying it must be my staff with dodgy palates . Going so far as to reference an email I’d sent saying some of my staff are ‘fussy buggers’ which was actually in regards to the festive menu items that I missed off and replaced with bespoke alternatives I requested. Funnily enough it was the basic items that were unacceptable: Cheese & Onion Rolls had barely any filling and were dry. Pizza was dry and hard. Spring rolls were soggy. The chicken sandwiches had no butter or spread as requested. The tuna and egg sandwiches however appeared to have some sort of spread on and were brought to me by staff who then said they couldn’t eat them. The owner maintains no spread was used which if true then I don’t know what the problem was. I couldn’t tell either way but I only ate 1 of each as I personally found them bland and flavour less. I was hoping to receive a partial refund of 50%, not use them again and say no more about it. We’re talking £450 worth of food! So half back for all these issues is not unreasonable given our first post covid staff gathering was ruined. I’m very disappointed that the owner is not taking any responsibility or taking on board the negative feedback on the food. She has refused any form of refund with the exception of £10 to compensate for missing banqueting roll! AVOID

Food was lovely and so was the ambience but unfortunately the waitress serving us really let it down, she was rude, not a single smile for anyone and just acted like she did not want to be there. Its service like that which ruined it for us and we wont be going again. Completely put off.

We were looking forward to this after having the table booked at the Mirfield branch for a number of weeks and reading the amazing reviews online. The food looks lovely and every plate coming out to other tables makes you want to change your order again and again. Our food was delicious and the portions were very good, if not a little too large. The salad was impossible to finish. The only thing that let our visit down was the service. We felt quite ignored. No one checked on us during the meal to see if we wanted anything else and we waited 20 minutes after we’d finished to to get up our selves and request the bill as it was clear, incoming tables were more important than looking after those already seated. We did want cake after, however decided against it after waiting for so long. We would have spent a lot more, given the opportunity. I would visit again, however I wouldn’t want to be sat out of eyeshot again.

I booked a table for my husband, daughter and I for lunch we arrived 20 mins earlier than planned but it wasn’t a problem to eat earlier when I rang. We went into the cafe only to be taken outside into a event tent and seated in there. There were another few people in there who advised staff they were cold. Inside the tent it was decorated nicely with probs but sadly the heating kept tripping out and so it was cold and we had to keep our coats on while we ate. The food as we have always found to be good and plenty. While we do support our local businesses and it is a difficult time for them to cope with all the new changes and rules I do feel I should have been told this is how they were operating and if that was satisfactory. My husband was hungry otherwise we would have gone elsewhere. We spent £25+ to eat in a tent - customers should be advised when they book a table and given the choice. I would go back to eat but only if I knew it would be Inside.

We booked a table as it's a popular place in normal times but a discount made it a busier place. The kids choice is an improvement from others and my grand daughter enjoyed choosing for herself. Her brother is only small so just ate what he was given. we shared a platter. It was all well presented and tasty. Sadly we had no room for a pudding so we took our home for a treat later. And it was tasty treat.

We ate out to help out. We enjoyed our food, nicely presented and tasty. The menu is vast and the prices are good. We got Boris’s discount. It can get full fairly quickly so you might be best booking. We asked for ketchup and salt that never came. They seemed busy running in and out to be fair but that’s the nature of the game. Not sure if it was the blistering heat but the staff didn’t seem too happy but I’ve read this before...who knows!!! The outside seating area needs umbrellas in my opinion. Would return 👍🏻

I have visited a few times, every time it seems it’s getting more and more crammed, last week was busy, visited with a friend, waited for a table but quickly got seated, when we finished our lunch we got asked politely if we could move on as customers were waiting to be seated, because it was busy the staff member was clearing the tables so fast flicking food on the floor.. it’s definitely the food that makes this place, I think it’s the only reason why it’s busy, there is no way you can go for a chill and a chat, I find it’s cold and not cosy at all.. think I will definitely not be returning after my visit last week, my friend agreed too, it’s a shame as the food choices are great.. definitely need to expand seating area downstairs!

Yes this really is a great place whether you just want a breakfast butty or you want a decent sit down for a well presented light lunch. For the sandwiches, the quality of the bread is really good; a good crunch when needed, but the most important thing is the care-everyone treated equally as a guest. I enjoyed a tuna panini whilst admiring the afternoon tea selection. Some people might also find that the cakes are interesting. This is a very nice place.

I have visited the Pie Shed three times in the last two weeks and was very happy on each visit! The staff are warm and friendly and luckily I had planned ahead and booked as it was busy on all three days. The food is fresh, well prepared and served with a smile. The only small criticism is that the jacket spuds we ordered could have been a tad warmer but I like my food boiling hot. Well worth a visit and I will be returning!

Someone called in and was basically shouted at by what I could only imagine to be the manager, whilst all the others looked on! Won’t be going again. I Had the audacity to question that something I had ordered to collect wasn’t available and was met by a torrent of abuse from what I would guess was the manager . She was obviously above any sort of criticism. . Took ten minutes to place the order in the first place as the girl who answered seemed to be having a 4 way conversation. All in all a nasty experience and will be the last time I ever go near the place . Wouldn’t mind checking if the food was anything special but it’s overpriced and more often than that it is cold . Coupled with the dirty cutlery ( on previous experience ) and the uneven floor that makes eating your food a mission in itself . When you eat out you at least want basic good manners from the staff so with that in mind it’s a massive zero from me.

We rarely eat out now but the Pie is a bit of a treat for us. The food and pricing is spot on. It's well tasty and good value. I genuinely haven't a clue why some revues have been negative. Sometimes service can be slow, sometimes items are not on the menu. I've worked in catering and it's not an exact science. Eating out is supposed to be a pleasure but i honestly think some people have lost the plot.

First time visit after many recommendations. Arrived about 12.10 and ordered pie of the day - meat and potato, served with mushy peas and wedges. After ordering and waiting 30 mins we had to ask for a takeaway as we had an hospital appt and didn’t want to rush the meal. No fear of that! The lady told us it was now being served. Food arrived at 1245 and we were finished 10 mins later. We thought they were child’s portions (6.95 each). The pie was the diameter of a pork pie not as tall about half as tall. We both found one piece of meat amongst the potatoes in the pie. Home made wedges undercooked and then a small portion of mushy peas. We did complain and they didn’t charge for the meals but we were both hungry and came away still hungry. To think we bypassed our favourite cafe to give the Pie Shed a go because we thought they were specialists. Never again.

Any way turned back at time and staff started tidying table and we took menu hooked near till to table. Unknown no order from staff we had to order food at desk then when finishedthen pay at desk. We browsed menu and then in turn placed food order. The lady behind till was doing several jobs and was very busy inbetween serving. After 10 minutes we all were served up and we neede to ssk for cutlery as none ready and i asked for sauce. We had a good catch up and not worried about noise we made as a loud place.everyone chatting away. The food was nice and all liked the food. My daughter took me for lunch at the Pie Barn and although I couldn't see any pies on the menu there was plenty of choice and the specials board was excellent and they had Gluten free options which was a pleasure to see. I had the crustless Quiche which was really good and plenty of it (GF), followed by a GF chocolate orange brownie which was delicious. The cafe is quite small and had a vintage feel to it, but the staff and the food were lovely.

I have been to the pie shed a few times. I thought it was going to be my regular. As I'm on slimming world I thought the syn free food would be just an amazing treat. I was so wrong. Every time I have bought anything that is on slimming world board it has been inedible not to mention expensive for what you get.The first time we went my son got some chocolate cake and it had egg shell in it. When I complained I was asked if he wanted something else but he said it had put him of so no. THEY STILL CHARGED ME FOR IT!The second time my meal was cold. Again I was asked what else I would like I said nothing but thanked them for offering. Again charged for it. The third and last time I will ever go here.I only ate half of it as the sweet potatoes where mushy. But I didn't complain as it had done no good on previous occasion. The owner notice I'd left my food and came over to the table and said "oh what's wrong now"I told her but said it was fine but she made such a seen that the whole cafe was starring. And as usual it was packed. I was mortified. I will never go back there again. Bad food, expensive, crowded and terrible service!

Went with my sister looking forward to pie, but could only see pork pie on the menu in the Ploughman's lunch!Good selection of food though and the hot sandwiches and cakes looked fantastic. Our mistake was to order afternoon tea. When we arrived at 1.00 we found the cafe was a tiny room and a few tables were reserved. We were told we could sit on a table with other clients, if they didn't mind, which they didn't, but that we would have to be out by 3.00 as the table was booked then.Afternoon tea consisted of a few sandwiches, including ham and mustard which my sister hates and the mustard had leached onto some of the other sandwiches. The selection of cakes was a tiny scone each and one slab of fruit cake and a small slice of carrot cake which was difficult to share, so hardly a selection. The staff didn't ask if we wanted extra drinks and the table, although clean was really sticky, our serviette stuck to it . The china used was lovely though. We left within an hour and weren't asked if everything had been alright as is usual, as we would have shared our views then.Wouldn't recommend afternoon tea, although not badly priced, in our opinion, not really worth it. We should have had the hot sandwich and a slice of cake instead!

The buffet provided for the event was well presented, tasty, loads of variety, catered superbly for gluten free and veggie. Very reasonably priced especially considering the good quality.

Not sure what to make of this cafe from the outside and if it hadn't been recommended to me by friends I would have carried on driving past. However the food was amazing, great menu choices and special board. Staff were knowledgeable about ingredients and more than happy to help with food suggestions. Food was delicious and beautifully presented and the milk shakes are just something else. Highly recommend the food served.

After seeing some rave reviews on Facebook my better half suggested we go give The Pie Shed a try. Firstly, there's a little car parking area right next door so that's good. The Pie Shed itself is a lovely little place with about half a dozen tables. You can reserve a table and I can imagine that at certain times of the day this would be a really good idea. We got a table and I collected the menus from the counter. A really good selection, everything from the full English to Eggs royale. I chose the XXL breakfast and my good lady had a full English. We both ordered a XL latte. The food came very quickly with the coffees following a couple of minutes later. We both agreed that the food was excellent. One of the best breakfasts we've had in a while. A good size full breakfast and the XXL lived up to it's name. The only things I would change, and this is purely my personal opinion, are that I'm not a fan of food served on a chopping board. I prefer a plate. Also the menu said 'a bucket of beans' and while this was technically correct I did expect a slightly larger portion. These minor points didn't detract from a gorgeous breakfast and won't stop us from going again. As you can see from the photos we bought some desserts, they're for later in the day so I'll update you on those lol

My daughter has been hounding us for a while about going there to try their monster shakes and yummylicious cakes. She passes this lovely cafe on her way to and from school. As it was coming up to her birthday , I decided to book us to try the place out and what a great decision that turned out to be. We decided to have something from the "Breakfast Menu" , Full English for my partner and I, and my daughter had The American. Both were absolutely spot on, first time we've gone out for a meal wherein the child actually cleaned her plate! That's a great sign in itself, (about) how nice their food is! The cafè has a lovely, charming, rustic feel to it, the staff is warm & friendly (especially our server, Shauna with the lovely smile). It isn't a place which tries to be something it isn't. It says The Pie SHED, so don't go in expecting to see a VERY posh cafè. It doesn't have its walls all covered in bright coloured paint or wallpaper, but that just adds to its rustic look & character. And because the place is quite small, I do recommend you book before going, especially when it seems to be gaining popularity (via social media). Will definitely be going back to try the other dishes on their menu. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Came through to the Pie Shed from Wakefield on Saturday. We had seen pics on social media and had been meaning to visit. Was shocked at how tiny the place is, we noticed v quickly that there was no room so we just ordered food to take out. A shame really as we'd made the journey especially! Definitely book in advance! The cakes we had were lovely, couldn't fault them. Just wish we'd been able to sit in.

Cosy little cafe, friendly staff, fantastic menu, awesome cakes and very reasonable prices. My daughter enjoyed her creme egg cake and my huge scone with jam and clotted cream was delicious. We also had a fresh orange juice and pot of tea and it only came to £7.10! Dewsbury's best kept secret and we'll definitely be back

I visited here some time ago. The place is small and you can struggle to be seated. On the one occasion I have visited and managed to be seated I found the cafe was busy. I ordered a jacket for myself and for my daughter and my other daughter wanted chips which they only do on certain days so she had to settle for wedges. The wedges , my daughter refused to eat. She was 4 years old and the wedges were extremely salty even for me. They were also overpriced for such a tiny portion. Mine and my older daughters jackets were OK but I did find another table had ordered the same jacket as me and her portion was much larger so I found they were inconsistent with portion sizes. Myself and my oldest daughter ordered cake after. My daughters was brought over but mine wasn't. The waitress left on break and I eventually had to ask after 25 minutes at the counter. The staff member thought I'd been given my slice and after a few minutes brought it to me table. No apology. This was rather off putting. There is no clear pricing for the drinks and some food is good value but others pricey for what they are. May return again in the future but it is not the best place to relax due to small size and no guarantee of being seated and eating there

No idea what to expect except pies. Actually they had so much more than pies. Although not dieting I did have a syn free meal which was lovely. The skinny smoore( not sure of spelling) was just right and a great idea. Staff friendly, polite and attentive. I will return. The only downside was the room needed some heat.

My husband and I decided to pay a visit to the pie shed after seeing some pictures online! We were most certainly not disappointed! I ordered steak and Philly baguette, this was amazing, a huge portion with wedges, salad and slaw served on a paddle board! My husband had the pulled pork hotdog which looked equally as delicious! After this I treat myself to a salted Caramel brownie milkshake! One of the best I have had - extremely filling. My husband wanted the sticky toffee shake however they had sold out so decided to have a scone instead which again was lovely! Food was amazing and the staff very friendly - however service was a little slow. I had to go to the till to order our shakes as we had waited a long time for them to come and clear our table, also my husband never got his coffee he ordered. The cafe is very small and at times was very smokey due to the cooking on a plus I came away smelling of delicious food! Only a few minor gripes, will most certainly be returning as it was delicious and we would love to try more of the delicious cakes on display!!

I simply adore pie and my fav I meat and potato. On Thurs evenings they open late for meat and potato pie, so we went along as a birthday treat. The cafe is quite small and has parking alongside. We both had the pie, which came with chips and peas. Hot drinks could be ordered from a separate menu and there were a number of home made cakes available. The meal was nice enough, not the best I've ever had but far from the worst. I was disappointed by the cake tho. We took it home to eat and I wondered if I hadn't paid attention to the name of the cake. I asked for the choc fudge cake but the sponge was quite a light brown colour and there was another taste we couldn't identify. I wondered if it was choc and nut? There were quite a number of specials available on the board and the food looked nice but I had gone looking for the Holy Grail of pies and not found it.

This place is just what those of us on slimming world or weight watchers need with lots of healthy diet friendly but hearty options on the menu. However, I warn you now, do not leave your self control at home cos they also do huge cakes and milkshakes. A great place to bring the whole family and still make good choices! I was pleasantly surprised that they do sour dough bread - a must for anyone with a yeast sensitivity. Enjoy!

Beautiful pulled pork sandwich. Lovely quirky place. Small but very very friendly. I called in with my husband as we were early for a meeting. We could park easily. This would be ideal if you were visiting dewsbury hospital. Noticed that they were open late on Thursdays so you could come for your evening meal. Brilliant price too.

We arrived without a booking and after a couple of minutes we were shown to our table and handed menus. Unfortunately after that, we were left around 15-20 minutes and nobody came to take our order. Eventually we got drinks thank goodness but then the food must have been another half an hour before it arrived. My husband and I ordered turkish eggs and it was nice but all 4 eggs (my husband's and mind) were all over cooked. I wouldnt go if you are in a rush to be honest, it took almost an hour and a half from start to finish.

Told to find a seat when I walked in and then Totally ignored Say there waiting for 15 minutes why staff walked passed not even acknowledging me First time here - last time Walked out and stood in door entrance and my exit was not even acknowledged Not the way to run a service industry

Thought we would try this place out not impressed with the overall experience of food the Sunday dinners beef not great nor the service waiter/staff took telling over 3 times for desserts had to wait over 30 mins for just brownies in the end just had to say cancel it too much time for something that take a couple of minutes to do the next day most of the family had upset stomachs wouldn’t recommend this place unless the service of communication to the cook and food standard is more on point than mediocre presentation we were compensated some money off the desserts but even the brownies are nothing different that shop bought similarities and tight portions to say the least the differences between kids to adults sizes not by much. To say the least and the only major positive was the decor of the overall place well set out looks inviting at least.

Visited today. All the sandwiches on display had cheese in them. Asked for a plain ham and they readily agreed. The ham was tasty and baguette was really fresh.
