This is an absolute gem of a place, well worthy of a visit, the food is lovely and freshly prepared, very well presented and tastes amazing. Great choice of alcoholic and soft drinks too,

A really disappointing experience at The Pie Shed in Mirfield. My other half suggested we go out for breakfast and we chose the pie shed. Sadly I wish we hadn't. When we arrived there were only 2 tables taken and the waitress said to the younger one, seat them on 11. This table was right in the middle of the room and I felt uncomfortable. I suffer with anxiety and rarely leave the house so this was a big deal for me. The table was also wobbly and we asked our young waitress if we could move. She said no all tables are taken or not cleaned down. I said to her there is no one on these or any reserved signs and she walked away. The next minute the owner came over and said what's the issue here and I told her I would like to move as table was wobbly. She said once she's cleaned the table you can go over there or anywhere. We moved to the table in the corner and this was also wobbly. Was we unlucky or are all tables like this I wondered. We placed our order, breakfast and the option called " stacked" on the menu. I asked beans to be in a seperate pot as I don't lke them touching other things on the plate. What arrived was not this, and beans were water and all over the plate swimming. I didn't say anything as I didn't want to send it back having already experienced attitude of staff. Having seen photos of the food here I have to say the food we recieved was nothing like the photos and I only wish I had taken some images to show you what I mean. I asked for a glass of water and some brown sauce. I actually meant to ask for red and when she brought it, I said can I have red please. Abruptly she said " you said brown!!!" I said I know sorry I meat to say red and she walked off in a huff. Again the owner came over with the red sauce and said "you told her brown sauce. Oh well all this pacing gets steps in" anything else before I go? I said no thank you. My anxiety was really high at this moment in time as I felt like an inconvenience to be there. Like we was putting them out. By this time we're the only ones in the cafe as the other table had left. Then I went to look at cakes and asked what the Maltese one was. The waitress said Maltese and some biscuit and other things. So I asked was this made with milk and she said I dont know! I said I can't have milk is all and she rudely said, " you just had milk I your cup of tea" wow!! I said I can have a drop but nothing made with all milk. Not that I should have to explain myself. I also asked what the other cakes were that didn't have a sign on. That's lemon that's biscoff she said. I wanted to take 3 pieces away but changed my mind after the attitude I was being given. I don't know what I did so wrong to be spoken to I this way. My husband said to the owner what is with the attitude in here, all your staff are rude but you especially! The owner said we're not rude. I went to the bathroom while the bill was paid and said thanks and left. Due to illness, I haven't eaten out in Mirfield for over 2 years and it took a lot for me to go here. I didn't need that from the owner, the snide remarks and the general attitude. Fron reading other reviews, it appears all the ones who have wrote bad review have done so because of the owners poor attitude. No wonder the cafe was so quiet when people are treat like this. I won't be going again or recommending this place. We drove to roberttown in the end and went to Reids and bought 4 slices of cake to takeaway. Much better selection and friendly staff, I wished we had gone there for breakfast instead I've no doubt if I receive a response from the owner it will be the same as other people's reviews responses where we are all in the wrong.

We visited for a Father’s Day brunch so it was very busy - but the service was still quick. They don’t serve lunches on a Sunday which caught some customers out, but there is a very wide and varied selection of brunch options. I had Stacked - sour dough toast with a bit of everything stacked on top. Excellent - my favourites were the chunky sausage from a local farm shop and the halloumi. My daughter had Mexican Eggs and my wife had Eggs Benedict with ham - both very good with the only criticism being that the white was slightly runny. My grandson who is a fussy eater enjoyed his French Bread and berries - they had sold out of pancakes. Total bill including an ice cream and 4 drinks was £51. Overall a very enjoyable experience - definitely on our list now.

Had been previously to the Dewsbury branch and thought we would give this a try. Lovely food, slimmers breakfast was great, felt I'd had a treat without going off plan. Husband had full English, again thoroughly enjoyed. Great efficient service. Will be back!

I have visited twice. The first time was lovely, The second could only be described as average to poor. Chewy watery mushrooms, dry bacon, everything under seasoned. I can only imagine this is to do with having a different chef. The food is not cheap for what it is. Disappointing.Get the old chef back!

Not being local we were in the area and booked to go for lunch with no preconceived ideas about the place or the type of food served, but assumed that with the name The Pie Shed there was likely to some sort of pies on the menu. WRONG! The only available pie was the pie of the day on the specials board and when we arrived at 12.45pm it was off, so I think it might be a good idea to rename it The No Pies Shed. The place was very busy on the day we arrived and the tables are very close together making it very cramped with many customers sitting back to back with chairs touching and no room to move your chair thus making sitting very uncomfortable for us and for tall people I would think almost impossible. We ordered drinks and wraps which were very nice and plentiful without being exceptional. We had no complaints with the service, the girls were very busy rushing about but we weren’t kept waiting unduly. The prices seemed reasonable but when the bill arrived it was just one figure hand written on a piece of paper with no breakdown of the cost of the individual items or the drinks we had ordered so who knows what we paid for. Very unprofessional and makes you wonder about the ability of the person(s) running the business. We shan’t be returning because the type of food available you can get from any half decent cafe and almost certainly in much more comfortable surroundings, of which I feel sure there will be many such establishments in the area. Not Impressed!

Booked afternoon tea for four. One of our scones was as hard as a brick. It was browner than all the others, but had not been noticed on plating up. The waitress apologised & replaced this. Fine. Next, we noticed a dark hair on one of the lemon drizzle cakes. This was brought to their attention. At the same time we also politely asked if it would be possible to swap the salted caramel brownie to something else. The response from I presume the manager (going by previous reviews) was that the hair wasn't from any of them! Despite one of them having dark hair, how could she know it definitely wasn't from them. And it's just not what you would say to the customer, it almost implied she thought we had put the hair there. She said she had no idea how it had got there, but had replaced the cakes. Though we'll never know if they were actually replaced, or the hair just removed. And as for swapping the other cake, the answer was no. She cleverly read out the menu which stated those two particular cakes were the ones advertised & if we wanted a different cake, we would have to pay for it. For the two issues we'd had with our afternoon tea, as a goodwill gesture it would have been the decent thing to do to swap one cake. There was no offer of any money off, so this would have been a nice gesture. Instead we are left with a negative experience, and won't be returning. It was also the smallest scone I've ever been served at an afternoon tea!

Shame about the service, if you don’t have an ingredient available it’s customary to tell the customer before you present them with an alternative then walk away without apologising. Food was average.

Just had a really nice afternoon tea here at the pie shed as a birthday treat for my mum. We opted for the traditional tea but looking at the menu the luxury tea & pie shed tea all look & sound extremely nice too. There was just enough for 3 of us that filled us just nicely. We booked ahead of coming but the sandwiches were freshly made & a nice selection too the savoury cheese was our favourite. A nice fresh mini scone with cream & jam was next followed by my favourite part the desserts a generous slice of lemon drizzle cake which was very tasty & a brownie slice drizzled with caramel finished it off nicely. Washed down with tea or coffee ( and a glass of prosseco extra for the ladies) this was very good value at £12 pp & in my wife’s opinion better than Betty’s tearoom. It’s nice to have a place serving such good food on our doorstep.

Tried charging me £8.95 for the worst egg on toast I’ve ever been served! When we first arrived the staff were lovely but the owner Emma was not. Very confrontational and intimidating. I had apologised to the staff for having to send my meal back and couldn’t of been nicer about it yet she came over fuming. The wedges were BLACK and very oily to which both my friends agreed. Emma seemed to take this very personal and had the audacity to come to our table and basically tell me I was wrong about the food and very cleverly told me the wedges were triple cooked and were supposed to be like that .. wow! Anyway I changed it for egg on toast, it came out on the cheapest white bread and wasn’t even buttered. Minimal avocado and slimy eggs .. to add insult to injury, they had the cheek to try and charge me almost £9 for it!! Unbelievable!! Had Emma not been so rude to us I maybe would have refrained from this review but the way she made us all feel was completely unacceptable! I wish I’d read other reviews before visiting, seems I’m not the first to have received this very unprofessional attitude from the owner .. more than disappointing. She will no doubt say she was waiting for this review as well! Not only this but we actually witnessed her stick her finger in her ear & very loudly say ‘wow’ when a baby behind us was crying .. disgusting behaviour from a grown woman & business owner! I highly highly highly recommend Qreme Ts instead, pleasant staff, lovely venue, food and experience was brilliant .. what you’d expect for a rare day out with friends

My family & I have eaten at this cafe numerous times because they have a wide ranging choice and the products are generally high quality. Quality comes at a high cost. Food at The Pie Shed is between 20&30% higher than all local equivalent outlets including proper restaurants. However the attitude of the staff that appear to be in charge is a disgrace for example You get interrogated on entry to ensure you have booked even though there are always empty tables and although I have always booked it’s irritating when you get told you have to book when there are at least 4 tables that never get touched during your time limited allocation for the table. Pointless and very aggressive attitude. Also if you do book you inevitably get placed on the worst tables ie close to the ever swinging door that bashes into your table and adjacent to the till or toilets that mean you are constantly brushed against by staff, customers and numerous children. Although you are allocated 90 minutes the hawk like staff shove the bill in front of you within 1 minute of you laying down your cutlery never once asking if you would like anything else or even a top up for you pot of tea. And don’t have the temerity of asking for more milk for your tea which is served in a tiny child’s milk churn with enough milk for 3 cups of tea despite being a pot for 2 people that holds 4-5 cups. The staff then stand over you even though you have 34 minutes of your allotted time remaining and when you pay they as nice as pie or in realistic terms “tip hunting” Car parking is appalling with dints appearing on my car during visits as the adjoining space is so close and customers often struggle to squeeze into their car. 5 of my family use this cafe on a frequent basis but sadly no more and we have all had much, much better experiences at Bennett’s eggs, Whitley garden centre both nearby and if you want real quality food and service Yummy Yorkshire. Whilst I accept loss of our custom will be totally insignificant all I would say is remember the old adage. “ You get what you pay for” if you are looking for paying over the odds for poor service then stick with this cafe.
