Pub real, gente estupenda, gran personal, mucha diversión.

I'm not sure how The Phoenix still exists. What a tip. I've lived in the city for ten years and this was my first (and last) visit. We were treated to a hardened drinkers swaying to a dukebox stuck on mega hits from 1997, craply-upholstered bar stools, red painted flock wallpaper and outright hostile bar staff. Honestly, the woman behind the bar looked at me as if I was a damned alien, I have no idea why my presence offended her. Poor selection of beer on tap so went for a bottle. Again, very little choice and I got served one from out the back which was warm. Extremely unimpressed. There are so many better pubs in Portsmouth and Southsea. Not a friendly place to nip in and have a pint.

Took some friends in here last night. We asked if there were darts available to have a game. The barmaid said "if one more person asks for darts I'm going to throw one at their head". Charming. Won't be going back.

The Phoenix Ale House Portsmouth England I would say is one of the last traditional Pubs left in Portsmouth built in 1937 and very much a local Pub due to location. It still has two bars a Public Bar and a Saloon Bar. In the Public Bar you will find a Bar Ballard Table which is still in use and not 100% sure on this, but have been told the table is over a Hundred years old. Saloon Bar has the pool table in it. Good selection of beers and real ales reasonable price staff always happy and friendly and so is the clientele don’t expect to have a meal as the best you will get is a very nice ham roll. So if you are this way and have an hour or 2 free why not pop in for a beer and a chat.

Visited this pub and stayed about 2 years ago, lovely rooms, great pub, cosy & inviting, great atmosphere and food. Visited pub this Easter weekend, well I was shocked! I assume changed hands as now run down and empty considering 8.30pm on Saturday evening. Not sure what it's meant to be but certainly didn't feel like a pub, more like a cross between a village hall and an Indian restaurant when you look at furniture. Place full of tables set for diners with mismatch metal chairs garden furniture and high back chairs from a restaurant, no comfortable sitting at all. Felt awkward sitting there for the 1 drink we had and they were already clearing bar to close for the night. Cold and clinical lighting and I won't mention the toilets! Disappointed visit and sad that the pub has lost its charm. Won't be visiting again plenty of other lovely pubs just a few 100 yards away.

Gilley’s Diner in Portsmouth, NH, is a hidden gem for anyone looking for classic diner food in a charming, nostalgic setting. My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite and were impressed by the experience. She ordered a hot dog with fries, and I opted for a double cheeseburger with fries. Both were served within 5 minutes, hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Despite the small menu, the food is top-notch for diner fare, and the friendly service adds to the experience. The diner itself is small and quaint, with only six seats, but the charm of this old food truck-turned-diner more than makes up for it. The service was fantastic—there's only one person running the place, and she handled everything seamlessly. If I lived in the area, I'd be here at least once a month. Highly recommend for anyone craving a quick, delicious meal in a cozy, old-school diner atmosphere.

What a lovely place! Right on the sea front with amazing views. Due to the pending Storm Ashley, the el fresco terrace was out of bounds. Such a shame it's a total suntrap! A A great atmosphere and the staff were chilled, happy, and efficient. There's a great choice of food on the menu, and not just 'sea-side' food. We had the small bites. The decor is spot on and trendy. You can even hire it out for private functions! Oh, and all the great varieties of bread are baked in-house.

Probably the best mocha, with extra shot, I have ever had. Sustained me halfway to Winchester.
